Goodbye Rezound *or* Anyone want to buy my Rezound? - HTC Rezound

Not without a lot of debate, I have decided to move on from the Rezound. I just wanted to drop a quick note to the community thanking everyone for their help and to our devs that did such great work with the ICS leaks and Sense 4 development!
This was the first android phone that I unlocked and it's been a lot of fun. Now don't flame me, but after getting the Nexus 7 I realized how much I prefer stock Google... so I've traded in for the GNex. It's a little too big, and the radio is kinda weak, but I'm ok with the trade offs.
If anyone is in the market, I have a sweet Rezound package on ebay.
All the best everyone!

Too bad you're leaving.. since HTC released the ics kernel source there are some pretty nice AOSP("stock Google") Roms out right now.. still have a few small kinks but they're being ironed out as we speak =)

Anyway, enjoy the Nexus...

That is a sweet deal I'm sure someone will jump on that

to be honest you cant compare the nexus experience with rezound because the nexus aosp experience is so much smoother and bug free you cant go wrong with it, only phone that i can actually say keeps up with the nexus in aosp is the sgs3

i thought our aosp rom's are getting pretty good..
*looks at cm9 le noob rom currently running*
i don't see the problem, is the galaxy nexus smoother or something? i thought this was aight

Agreed. It's like saying iOS runs so smooth on my Rezound. It's just not supposed to. It'll run better on the iPhone because that's what it's built for.
But when KLP or L* comes who knows...

I am with you!
My next phone will be a nexus purchased directly from Google to get updates directly from Google and always have the latest android os. I am generally pleased with stock rooted.
This will require giving up Verizon's network. If tmobile data isn't good, then perhaps will carry a Verizon jetpack.
I still have over a year left on my Verizon contract, so you are ahead of me.

New info regarding the replacement for the interim "Sense 3.6" we have in the latest leaks. Sounds like a serious improvement over the past UIs.
That sounds awesome...though I really hope they keep the menu button with the capacitive buttons, I would really miss that...

I pick my phones based on hardware. I'm not a fan of Sense, Widgets, and the like. That's why I'm here. I have an Android phone I can customize the way I like. That's why most people are here. Try to embrace that rather than judging people based on your feelings/convictions. That's what people that enjoy products from a certain "fruit themed company" do.
i think people need to stop complaining and/or stfu about sense already, it's getting old. we get it, you don't like sense. hooray for you. it seems the new "hip" thing to do is hate on sense, seriously. it's so god damn annoying to read. sense isn't going anywhere, so get over it. motoblur isn't going anywhere, and neither is any other manufactorers OS. stock android is ugly as sin, and ICS looks like a toy. atleast sense is going to bring visual appeal to ICS, whereas comparing ICS to iOS makes the nexus look like a toy.
tl;dr: shut up about sense, it's not going anywhere, and it's annoying to constantly read peoples hatred towards it. get over it.

I don't do hostile posts. I test everything because I like to play with it all. Can't say I don't like something if I never laid eyes/hands on it. Since I do theme and support work, I switch between sense'd and non-sense'd quite often.

I am new to Xda and HTC phones myself and I do like sense. The short time I have been on this site, I have noticed and strangely I might add. People seem to get way to hostile over the Sense vs Asop debate. People have different tastes and what they like and its just as much their choice as anything so why be condescending or hostile over their choice.
The reason I bought the rezound myself was hardware or I would have gotten the Gnex , because I like to mod and play around with different roms. Sense was a bonus for me , because to me its just a theme I can flash or not
Mr Smith is nothing , but courteous and helpful in the 2 forums I have been on so no reason to drag his choice into the debate.
android is about choice. thats why it is different from all other brands/os.
the software can always be changed/rewritten, but you are stuck with the hardware.
like mrsmith i choose my phones based on hardware. i also happen to like sense so that i why i went with the rezound.
thats not so sat that i don like asop. i ran CM7 on my TB for that past 3 months, sense simply has more "polish" and "eye camdy" that i enjoy
personally i hope sense slims down a bit and some of the bloat and useless apps disappear, but finally they realize that beats audio should work for third party apps.
once my rezound is outdated, i will most likely end up with another HTC phone and it will be a 1.5 ghz quad core, 1 GB ram, 8/3 mp camera 10 mm thick sense 4.0 android 4.0 powered monster

I'm on this phone because it is the best phone on the market right now. It doesn't matter to me one bit what comes on the phone (Sense, blur, touchwiz, etc) except that sometimes (as it was with the Rezound initially) its impossibly hard to get rid of.
Now that I have removed like 95% of Sense/HTC related software from the system, installed my launcher of preference, I am extremely happy with my phone and battery life. I'm so glad I didn't get anything else on the market right now.
So there you have it... I picked out this phone because of the phone, not because of the manufacturer or whatever crap bloatware that particular manufacturer decided to burden us with. And just cause other people are sick of reading about how crappy Sense is does not mean I'm going to like it anymore or withhold my thoughts on the subject for their benefit. Negative reviews of a product are just as important as positive reviews.

While if I'm wrong it'd be awesome, but I think that's a typo, it'll probably be 5GB, to compete with apple's 5GB of free iCloud.

The G2X was a failure device anyways. so is the Tegra 2, i realized that after owning the Atrix. T-mobile or LG (whichever one or both) took the G2X off the walls for a good reason lol

No NEON. IMO, that is a fail toward Nvidia since they are supposed to be "revolutionary" and all. The atrix didnt have support for a lot of apps for a long time and became annoying as hell. it needed so much optimization as well since Nvidia didnt do much at all lol. The only good thing about it was the games, which our snapdragons are just as good.. Maybe it got better with drivers, im talking quite a few months back. whenever i got my sensation from the atix i was so happy. (i had CM 7 on the atrix no motocrap) so cant blame it on bloat lol. the g2x was a fail because its plauged with so many issues. makes our screen bleed look perfect. people who complain about it should go to that phone xD

I figure it has to happen really soon, because I am not sure when virgin is releasing their evo3d, but boost is releasing their evo design on the 31st, and their website says it will have 4.0.... I was running it today and it was pretty good, I'm looking forward to warm four dot zero. 3.6 has amazing battery life and sense 4 has fluidity and a new taste. I'm not a fan of 3.0 with ics, but that battery life is amazing. I got about 10 hours before I got to 10% and I'm a pretty heavy user (a lot of Facebook and Voxer over 3g). Usually my phone would last 8 or 7 hours before it died.

I'm not using a Sense 4.0 ROM (using CleanROM atm), but you are right -- it's like a whole new phone with ICS. I was considering upgrading to a different phone just out of sheer phone boredom, but this ICS has shown me the 3D is still viable for a lot longer.

The Nexus is ok at best, I've tried it and can honestly say that the SII, 3D, and even Note feel more comfortable for usability. Sure, the stock ICS is fluid and is designed around the capabilities of the Nexus, but in the end, you're still playing with a black banana phone with a goofy curved screen.
Sense 4.0 is a huge change over 3.6. If you haven't tried newts Rom do it. 3d and 4g aren't working but you really won't miss them. Although I am surprised that no one has ported the EVO 4g LTE Rom to our device yet. It would be nice to have a full cmda sense 4.0 Rom.

I think it's pretty simple to be free from Sense if that's your preference... get a different phone and stop complaining.
Most people that buy HTC do so because they like Sense UI, above all other factory UI variations... Sense 4 is the best one yet. TouchWiz, MotoBlur, and everything else don't even compare.

Rezound has better hardware for the most part.
Better antennas, phone feels solid.
Both screens are 720p.
Gnex is 4.65", rez is 4.3".
Gnex is Super AMOLED, but pentile. Bright colors, but less sharp.
Rez is Super LCD, colors aren't as bright, but small text is very crisp.
Software:
Gnex has Jelly Bean. End of story. (Also has all those AOSP based roms like Cyanogen and AOKP.)
That's why a lot of people are trading right now.

There is nothing better about a pentile screen.
Very true. SuperAMOLED+ is non pentile, but the + version is too expensive for hd phones, so it's only on low res phones like gsii.

It doesn't really bother me, unless my eye happens to be about 1 inch away from the screen. I personally like the much more vibrant colours and way deeper blacks over having sharper text, that I only notice if I'm truly looking hard. I love the my Rezound, but I'm so much happier with the Nexus now.
Jelly Bean = Orgasm that you play with on your phone.

^This. I lost several pairs of pants from the nerdgasms I had.
The rezound forums are starting to remind me if the DX forums.

The GNEX is so much smoother then the Rezound. If no one told what chipset was in the GNEX you would think it have the same thing as the GS3 or EVO LTE.
Everything is just so fluent on it and no lag at all...

Unfortunately the Rezound has become a red-headed stepchild for both Verizon and devs. And I agree with whoever said Jelly Bean is a game changer.
The OEMs are lightyears behind Google at this point with their stupid skins. Just get over it and offer multiple Nexus devices.
Why is it that EVERY SINGLE TIME a new phone or development comes out, 15 DB's feel it's necessary to post "I'm leaving" for xxxxx
LOL, nobody cares.....

Jelly Bean Request, community(bounty)

Is anyone else willing to throw some money up to help motivate current devs and maybe bring some new devs out to work on Jelly Bean? Suggestions? Please, no flaming, if you think its a bad idea, keep strolling ignore the thread. Last thing I want is a hate fest. I'm willing to drop $10.

The problem with that is that people will then expect the devs to succeed, but if they don't then everyone will be mad and we'll get a ton of flaming threads.
Like earlier this year.
It's best to donate as appreciation for previous work.
I'm not saying that donating for jelly bean is a bad idea, just saying that you shouldn't expect things from devs.

Yea I feel you on that. I'm not talking about paying them to get it finished, but just making a pool to maybe get them all to collaborate and get what they need. Structure would help. You know, reach this goal, you get x amount, next goal, x amount. I know I'm rubbing that magic lamp awful hard. And you know I'm actually very satisfied with the ICS roms we have now, actually more than satisfies, especially coming from tbolt where development has pretty much ceased, and my inc just got retired for the rezound, and they're killing nearly every other section as far as keeping up with o/s. Just want to boost the community support. I'm loving my Rezound and want to see it go as far as Android 10 Pumpkin Pie

Before everyone goes crazy about jelly bean ,you should check it out first. Because I hate to say it but its nothing special. It's more evolutionary than revolutionary. It's what ICS should of bean.

Yes, pun was classic. I've played with jelly bean on my friends nexus, and yes, if google had just held out a little while longer and dropped ics with the mods from jb, it would've been beautiful. I guess they like separating the haves from the "damn, I wish I had"'s. I want the butter, the whole Siri-like search function didn't seem to like to work like I wanted. I guess you have to work for Google in order to keep up with the latest and greatest or just to keep up period. Thankfully we have devs that clean up Google's doo doo.
From me to you with this Snake bitten cellular thing
We don't need to pay them to work on it. They will try it regardless. I'm sure people are still trying to put ics on old ass devices like the og droid. So I don't think we need to worry.

not trying to be no hope person but for jellybean to work on htc rezound newer ril will need to be made for the rom to be stable to work as i see it we need ril for ics right, now we need newer ril for jellybean so in tell can get a office ics we need to just wait

I've been using my Nexus 7 for a week, and the buttery smoothness along with Google Now's voice input make JB a bigger upgrade than ICS, overall. You are wrong, IMO.

Came here just to point that out XD
On topic though, I've got a LOT of love for JB on the TF101, would love to see it on my Rezound
To my understanding eris over at Team BAMF is working to get BAMF Paradigm on the Rez and from what I've seen Team BAMF has a pretty good track record.

Hell you guys deserve pay just as much as the half asses at HTC and Google. It was y'all that made it possible to play with my Incredible for two days on one charge and a regular battery. And my Thunderbolt sucked til I slapped some aosp love in it. Now my Rezound is running sense 4 like a charm, and Google Now is awesome and unofficial. I think Google should recognize devs, and help them out. But until they do, I'll hand you a few of my few dollars for making my phones exciting.
