Hi all, I'm trying to find an .apk on my sg2, to back it up & possibly instal it on another droid.
I understand I need to locate the .apk file, however, is this the only file I need to locate or are there other associated files I need to locate as well (possible authorisations etc) to allow the .apk to work once backed up &/or to instal and have full functionality on another droid?
Also, where will I find the file(s) location?
I currently have 'root explorer' installed.
Thanks in advance

Search for apk in /data/app and its data in /data/data/.
Ex.:
apk - /data/app/pl.aqurat.automapa.apk
data of the app - /data/data/pl.aqurat.automapa

the apks will install fine. You don't need any other authorisation file for that.
All the apk for the apps currently installed on your phone will be in (system root)/data/app
Copy all the apk files in that location to a safe place on your phone. Then transfer them to the other phone. Install them as normal apk. They will all install fine.
Problem solved.

Attached a flashable zip which will remove below Samsung apps from the phone:
- Social Hub
- Music Hub
- Games Hub
- Samsung IM
- Samsung Apps
If you are not using any of them, it is better to remove instead of allowing them to run in background etc. Also these apps are system apps, so any bugs in them (if any) would allow malicious apps to gain additional permissions to the phone.
I used a sample flashable zip to refer the syntax and system calls.
Cheers!!
finally!
nice work! thank you so much!
Samsung apps is a must needed app, it offers many games and apps for free.
Thx !!
Could use some info on install procedure
Is it CWM flashable ? Does it needs any clear cache/dalvik ?

I will have to restore a backup first, to get the deleted files. Then I will make a flashable zip and attach/give link.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SII using xda app.
Seems I don't have the deleted files in a backup.
Can someone share the files with me? List of files can be found in the zip attached in first post. Open the zip and go to META-INF/com/google/android. The file updater-script can be opened in notepad. All the files in delete(...) from folder /system/app will be required.

I got a notification regarding system stability. But can't find the post.
Removing apps is much safer. If all linked files are removed it won't cause any instability. But removing lib or framework files, modifying them is more risky.

Yes, CWM flashable. I mentioned flashable in OP.
No need to clear anything, although you may want to take a backup in case you want the apps back.
Again thans and its work for samsung I9003 .
Can you not get it to move the files to a backup folder, or even copy them to a backup folder before deleting them???
reader hub and samsung app? nothing?
Will it work on I9100G ?
There is no way for me to test. You can take a nandroid backup, flash and see if they get removed!

apk files are the install files. to install them you have to check install from unknown sources from the settings menu.

Any ideas?
What if you delete the current PhoneSky.apk from the system/App
and flash the current Gapps, that may fix it.
To properly install Play Store on the phone you need:
- a rooted phone
- a deodexed version of the APK
- NO DO INSTALL THE APK using the usual methods
- rename the APK to Vending.APK
- copy the APK to /system/app/Vending.apk
- reboot

I'm going total neophyte mode here: this is my first Android phone (former iOS dummy) and I have little experience using Android. My phone is rooted with the CF-root from Chainfire. As for deodexed APK, what exactly does that mean? Also, you mentioned that I need to copy it to a filesystem location...how to access that? Again, sorry for sounding like and idiot but this is all so incredibly new to me.

Hi guys,
I've accidentally deleted the musicplayer.apk from my girlfriend's phone (using titanium backup) - i forgot she doesn't have power amp pro.
Anyway, I tried several ways of installing the apk but it always failed. I've tried to extract the apk from the rom zip file but it just wouldn't install. I've also tried putting it in system/app and rebooting but it doesn't show up.
I hope someone can help me out here. Thanks!
P.S. I'm sorry if this has been covered before.. My search didn't come up with any solution.
Also, I'm not looking for a "install third party app" soliton. Thanks.

Hi Guys, This is my first thread here. I'm new to Android and flashing custom ROM's. I've recently bought Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 (International version). I used Siyah kernel for Dual-Booting FoxHound along with Stock ROM. I really liked FoxHound because of improved performance, beats audio etc. I've decided to flash FoxHound as only ROM on my device but I fear that it will also remove the stock samsung apps which I really find useful.

Is there any way to get these apps on FoxHound? Sorry I couldn't find any similar post here that's why I'm asking
You could use root explorer, copy them to your sdcard and install on your new rom. Should work fine if they don't have any other dependancies.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
you need to copy them to /system/app
as long as it's a Sammy ROM, it should work
I tried that but when I copy SMemo files to system/apps using root explorer it says that the files are copied successfully but they don't... Any solution for this I guess it has something to do with the permissions

Still Not Working...
The SMemo.apk's permissions are (rw-rw-r) and to move it to system/apps the permissions should be (rw-r-r). When I change the permissions they still look unchanged...
Are you sure you've given root access to root explorer...try changing the permissions with chmod command.

I've edited their permission to rw--r--r (0644) but the apps says 'Changing Permissions was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes.'

I was saying that launching the apk manually won't install it.
Try clearing its data and make sure it's from the same firmware version

I downloaded S Memo apk for 4.1.2 JellyBean from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969991 and that worked like charm. Thanks
I'm also looking for Stock Music Player, I downloaded apk from same link but it is not working. Again it gives a pop up saying 'Unfortunately Music player has stopped'. I tried clearing data several times but no luck. Any solution?
