Hi,
How can I get the factory pre-installed Kindle app to recognise and read my ebooks on my micro SDHC card? I guess I should copy those I want it to see into a folder of internal memory, but I don't know which one.
I'm asking this because the MyLibrary app, that is capable of search and find the ebooks everywhere in the device, doesn't work since the JB update (I reported it in another thread). OK, I can use other epub readers from Market, but Kindle is there and a lot of people like it. I would give it a try too.
Thanks,
Tibor
Create a folder called Kindle on the internal sd memory and drop the mobi files there for kindle to see them.
Thank you! I'll try it.

Writing to Micro Sd Card
I am sure someone in the community knows the answer to this question and I wish they would answer it for Us. I have googled and performed a search on the forum without coming up with anything. I am new to Android and could use the help. Thanks - John
If you're downloading from a browser, this can usually be changed in the browser settings. Eg in Dolphin select settings then data settings. The download location is in there.

Never seen a way to do this.
Most everyone using external SD is to hold files they bring over to tablet not to have files from tablet saved to it. You could use a file explorer - root explorer for example - to manually move files but never yet seen a way to tell camera or browser or Gmail or mail or anything to save files to SD by default. Frankly I was irritated by thus but then I realized 32gb is a hell of a lot of space.
Anyway once unlocked bootloader happens stuff like this - in time - will be changed by devs.
A friend of mine downloaded some children's eBooks for me and I put them on my SD card... I also downloaded some flash videos from youtube of cartoons for my son. I am having a hard time accessing these files. I am able to find the files in the file explorer... but I cannot open them. I am having two different problems.
1. My video files (.flv) will play in the MobiPlayer but I have to move them to the internal storage for it to find the file? How do I get them to play from the micro SD card? If I just click on them in the file explorer it says "Open file failed"
2. I cannot seem to find a program to open the ebooks. They are .mobi files I have tried Moon eReader, iReader and Kindle. I did mange to get one to open in the iReader, but it asked me if I wanted to view it as text or html. If I choose text there are no pictures, and I am assuming it is meant to have lots of pictures since they are toddler books?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
does anyone know where store books with the B&N reader now that we can use it with CM7?
It should be in a folder called Nook.
I'm having troubles signing in. It states there is an external error. Anyone have that error besides me?
I'm getting the same error it will not sync at all. I think until they figure out the mounting issues with the internal and external sd cards we are just stuck. Luckily Aldiko will let you search for folders and import books that way too get me by until the issue is resolved.
Oh BN, Why couldn't you have just made a stock 2.3 OS with the Nook app preinstalled. I love their ecosystem. I love the NT design and specs. They'd still have gotten my money for books and mags. It would have been a hackers dream.
Thanks for the Aldiko idea.
If it helps, I was able to install the 'B&N Nook' app ok and signed in with my info earlier. And the app works and I can read the .epub books that I copy to the sd card.

I stored them on the sd card in a folder under 'My Files'.
Edit: They are in the 'My Documents' folder in the 'Nook' folder.
i tried to reinstall nook reader and now I am getting an internal error. O also tried to install alkido or whatever app it was that was suggested. I was not able to install it due to an SD card error
I got it to work. I had to go in and delete the folder that was there from when I tried to install nook reader before CM7. I rebooted and installed the reader again. I moved the books over to the folder that was suggested. SD/nook/mydocuments. I rebooted the NT and was able to pull the books up with no issues. ROCKIN!
I'll try to delete the stock BN leftovers on my SD and reboot. The Nook App must check for NC or NT files and wigs out if they are present.

that must be what it is cause after I did all this, I didn't have any issues. I didn't see any of the other error messages I saw earlier. let me know if that does it for you or if I just got lucky. I wanna know if this fixes this issue or not
Okay, I deleted the "My Files" folder that was left over from the stock ROM. I then uninstalled the Nook app and deleted any files that left over. I then reinstalled the app, signed in, and it worked.
I installed the nook for Android app and logged in fine. Books were in nook folder once downloaded. I have since restored to mod stock until a cm7 zip/bit more polish on the weird app install/restore issues or cM9 is ready.

Scratch that. I'm getting sync errors. I think it's related to the sdcard bugs in CM7

isup, are you using the sd card CM7? that might have something to do with it. I am using the internal version.
I bought a Nook Tablet 16gb and rooted it, and I'm poking around with it seeing what I can do...
Is there any way to store files on the B&N locked section of the HD without having to install something like CM7? I would prefer not to do that, and just root it and use the space I have, because I actually like the Nook reader that just opening things through 'library' brings up.
Sorry, rambling a little. If I have to I'll use CM7, I'm just wondering if there is another way.

You will need apps that can recognize / scan internal sdcard...
For images: quickpic
For videos: mx video player
For music: I use Music mod and PowerAmp >> this one in MIUI 'cause no other app could scan from /media, i take it as a bug.
For books: calibre, B&N reader (with a small hack posted on link i gave you), aldiko, etc
For PDF: ezPDF the best
File Explorer with root access "/": ES File Explorer, Root Explorer the bests

That worked perfectly, thank you!
Just wondering, only sort of related...is there any way to get Aldiko to put its library file in the internal storage, do you know? or is it always going to make 'ebook' on the SD card?

by default apps create the folder in sdcard because not all devices are the same and have a decent internal storage so that is standard.
I'll look into the app and see if i can change it create folder under /mnt/media. It was in my todo list anyway with other apps .

I have a HTC Flyer and have nearly filled up the sdcard memory and would like to use the sdcard2 memory.
The flyer has 16 GB of memory. The 16G of memory is partitioned into 3.9 GB internal partition and a 8.7 GB external partition (sdcard). I also have a 32 GB of exteranal removeable memory (sdcard2). The sdcard is nearly full and the sdcard2 is empty. How do I make use of the sdcard2?
For example I would like to move google play music files from sdcard to sdcard2.
Is there an app that will move the music files? Will the google play music app find the music files on the sdcard2 or is there something I have to do to force the use of the sdcard2?
I can mount the flyer on my PC and find the 2 sdcards and I can move the files from card to card. I'm just not sure if it's that simple and what rules are required as far as paths, etc are required on the sdcard2.
It seems like a simple problem that should have a well documented answer, but I haven't found any information in google searches?
An additional comment. Does the removable 32 GB card need some type of special formatting. I believe the card was format when I purchased it. Last night I erased it in the Flyer. I couldn't find an option to format it in Flyer so I formatted in my PC.

Not sure about the new Google Play app but the older one had no way to choose sdcard2 to store/use files. If they have not built this feature into the app yet than you may have to use a workaround such as this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
As for just your standard media files (music, videos, pictures) you would like to open via default apps on your tablet, just drag and drop from internal to external via USB or file manager. Doesn't really matter where you put them as long as you can find them. Just create a directory structure that makes sense to you.

If you just use the standard Fat32 format on the PC the card should work just fine.
Thanks for the reply.
I have another question on moving data. The Flyer has an app "locations". It stores all of the points of interest and is about 3 or 4 GB. The points of interest are located at sdcard/.data/navigator/Data/Maps/... Can I just usb drag them to sdcard2/.data/navigator/Data/Maps/... and will the locations/navgator app find the data? I don't understand how the app knows where to look for it's data and use it. Does it just know to look on both sdcards?
Sort of sucks how google messed up the mp3 files in google play music so other music player apps can't find and use them.
I tried moving the locations files it and it said the files were out of date or missing so I guess that didn't work.
My Flyer is box stock. I never took any updates because I was afraid of not being able to root if I took an update (I got burned on the EVO 4G Gingerbread update).
What is the best method to root the Flyer? Is there a ROM that will let me run apps and store there data on the removable SD card? Are you using a custom ROM and do you have a recommended ROM?

Yep. Can't move that data. The app won't find it unless you can try the link I sent you for that program that re-routes the paths but you will need root to use it.

Keeping data for apps on sdcard2 is going to cause you nothing but trouble. If that card is unmounted you may end up having to re-install all those apps for them to work. As far as I know there is not a rom that will allow this to happen. Only thing I can suggest is to get all the media files you can onto your ext. sdcard to free up some space or start using a cloud service.
If you want to root your Flyer use this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194709 Make sure you have a qualifying hboot version otherwise you have to do some extra prep work first.
I have the same problem. I'm using a 64gb card and the tablet will not store anything on it. Mine is labeled sd-ext. It act like it needs a2sd installed to work. But that's not possible with out root.
Lame
I mostly use my SD2 card for movies. I'm not really seeing anything that uses it other than the camera, I think (there's a DCIM folder there).
I know on most other (2-sd card) android devices, you can actually switch which sd card is 1 and which is 2 by editing the vold on the device. I am not sure if this works on the flyer, and have no real reason to try this myself, but if some brave soul is willing to test it out, I can provide instructions.
PS: if anyone has already tried this, and found it lacking, please let us know before I suggest that someone do something stupid
Sorry, Have been away for a while. I would be interested in the instructions to edit the vold. Could you send me a link to instructions or the instructions. Has anyone else tried the vold change?
Thanks for the reply.
