bootloader unlocked? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to check if your bootloader is unlocked? I know on HTC devices you reboot bootloader and it will tell you. Does the atrix have something like this?

After reboot, should appear "unlocked" in the top left of the screen.
Atrix - "CM7"

Are you sure? do you have to unlock the BL to root it?

No.
Answered your other thread.
Also yes, you cannot have an unlocked bootloader without "Unlocked" appearing on startup screen, and vice versa. So that's the 100% reliable check if your BL is locked or not.

FOLLOW A TUTORIAL (XDA FORUM)!
Iff all goes well, appears "unlocked"!

Bootloader can be unlocked without "unlocked" being on boot screen. Once its unlocked it remains unlocked, even if you don't have unlock functionality because a sbf or fruitcake was flashed. Remember, this removes the word "unlocked" from the boot screen.
Edit........search for thread about checking ODM Fuse. This is only way to be sure if you are unlocked or not. If I remember a value of 1 = locked, 0 = unlocked.

After bootloader unlocked, still need carrier unlock code?

May I know if I got an ATT Atrix 4G and unlock the bootloader on day 1. Do I still need carrier unlock code for using other carrier?
Shoundn't be carrier lock is sitting inside bootloader originally?
Thanks in advance.
I still needed to unlock my carrier. Think you do too.

Unlocking the bootloader and carrier unlock - are two completely different things.
The only way to carrier unlock the Atrix is by typing in the correct unlock code.

carrier lock should be some kind of low level program perform carrier check inside bootloader, right? (correct me if i wrong). So, these 2 things are NOT completely no relationship. If bootloader unlocked, logically thinking that there has to be some way bypass carrier lock.

no there isnt a way as of now. you need to unlock both seperately if you want sim unlock AND boot loader unlock. one does not unlock the other, you need to do both.

relock bootloader - possible?

Hi there is it possible to relock the boot loader for xperia mini? I unlocked it because i tried CM7. Now I am thinking of going bag to original firmware. Any help is appreciated!
If relocating is not possible, what should one do to get as close as possible back to the original firmware, is it still possible to get official upgrades?
Best,
Thorsten

Third, remember if you are doing it with official method, you will never able to receive FOTA or SEUS update, you can, but only by flashing from xda.
So since we did the unofficial method, After we update through SEUS the bootloader is still unlocked?
I don't know about that. Since the service info still says bootloader unlocking allowed, I think the phone thinks itself as still locked. Flashing from seus might rely more on drm instead of whether the bootloader as locked or not.

when service info says Bootloader unlock allowed: true, that means that it the bootloader is locked, but can be unlocked at will
as many devs say, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty and bricks the phone when doing FOTA or SEUS
but there's a flashtool out there for us that will take care of it

You do know this method right? http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/ When using that method, it is unlocked but the report still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: true'. So if you use this method (as what idareyou and me were doing back then) the phone thinks that it is still 'locked', even though it's unlocked.

Yeah. I can confirm that my bootloader is unlocked but it still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed:Yes'
I thought at first I wasn't succesful even though it went smoothly so I tried flashing custom Kernel and it was succesful.
I want to know if in the future if SE release their ICS and we update using SEUS the unlocked bootloader remains because believe me, I don't want to go through the same process again, I got electrecuted several time because I don't have test points, just a clip and copper wire.

Veimus from original thread confirm that seus do works and he can reflash the gingerbread from seus. Sm gt should be ok with ics, And with Sony confirms mo changes hm kernel. I think it will be Rom update only.

means that you can unlock the bootloader, BUT it does not say if the bootloader is locked/unlocked already

When you root a phone does it also automatically unlock the bootloader?

I used the one click method for my Nexus s 4G... does that method unlock the bootloader also or is there a seperate step?
If you didn't need to wipe out everything on your phone, your bootloader is probably still locked.
To confirm, first turn off your phone (power it off completely) then turn it on while holding the up volume button. This will boot into the bootloader which will display whether or not it is locked.
Also, during a normal boot, you'll see an unlocked padlock icon where the boot loader is unlocked.

Rooting the phone will not unlock your bootloader. But seeing how you have a Nexus, the bootloader is super easy to unlock. Check out the nexus s forum, but I am pretty sure it is just a command in ADB..."fastboot oem unlock". Don't go off of that though, definitely check the forum.
yes using the one click will unlock your bootloader, its how the nexus s devices root
also to get bette rhelp on it next time post in the thread of the tool

Is your bootloader unlocked?
As stated above you need to make sure you have an unlocked boot loader in order to flash any ROMS onto the Atrix. Here is a guide on how to accomplish this task:

You can have an unlocked bootloader and not have "unlocked" on your boot screen.
Please see the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15573674&postcount=1
The only true way to know if your bootloader is unlocked is to check /sys/firmware/fuse/ReservedOdm.

But still he will have to flash the pudding file to make work the unlocked bootloader which is given in the unlocking thread and will display "UNLOCKED" on the bootscreen. He is on failed to boot screen how can he check ReservedOdm he will find about the bootoader when he will use the fastboot command for unlocking which will display "already unlocked" if his phone bootloader is unlocked.

¿How to know if my bootloader is locked? I searched on the hidden menu and found nothing but the bootloader version. I'm looking forward to unlock it so i can root and do stuff.

I'm not sure it's the easiest way but you can go to fastboot with method wrote here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221102. But first you will have to flash jb V20* ROM. If you have first screen where you are asked if you want to unlock bootloader = locked. If second screen with quick guidance = unlocked.
WARNING! Be careful if you don't want to unlock bootloader watch which button you press.
You still didn't answer his question. I would like to know as well. Is there a way to tell if my bootloader is unlocked or locked?

As far as I know, not every phone comes with a bootloader closed unless some phones are able to change roms and stuff without needing to open this.
If your on JB, just go to the dialer and type 3845#*760# then scroll to the bottom to bootloader unlock check. (if you have differernt L9 - 3845#*7xx# - your numbers)
Another way to check is to go to software update mode by switching off the phone then holding volume up while inserting the USB cable. If your bootloader is unlocked, it will say so in the top corner of the S/W update screen.
If you havnt unlocked it, it will be locked by default.
