hello ppl,
Wanted to unlock the bootloader from the htc dev website, i download the RRU and try and install. everything works fine but at a particular step it says i have not got the latest version 3.x.x.xx. is there a way around this? any help much appretiated. thanks
Is the RUU they provide properly installed? This is priority no1 for the rest to work. Have htcSync installed. Follow each step carefully and wirh care then it should work.

AOKP ICS 4.04
dude, everything is setup fine but during the RUU installation, at the last step there is a version mismatch error and it asks for an upgraded RUU. my question is is this because i have a custom rom istalled.
If you are using the ruu hboot update from htcdev then yes that's why you got error.
If your rooted and custom rom use blay0s method, most who have done it say it works.

use blay0's method.
for step 3 you can to go task manager processes, right click on ARUWizard > open file location.
ROM.zip will be in that folder. then continue from step 4.
i've attached the ROM.zip I copied out of there (renamed to LEGEIMG.zip). This is from the Vodafone AU RUU from the htcdev.com/bootloader/ruu-downloads page, but I think they are all the same.
rom.zip for vodafone UK
could someone please upload the rom.zip for vodaphone uk. i am unable to locate it on my system when i run the rru update.

I read I had to update the ROM before I could root. I have tried so many things but nothing seems to be working.
It seems because it is a Vodafone Legend.
Any help is welcome so I can root my Legend.

Looks like you've got 1.50 with S-ON.
Then here's what you need to do:
1. Register at http://htcdev.com
2. http://htcdev.com/bootloader/ choose e3d sprint and press begin
3. follow the instructions (it might take a while)
4. flash custom recovery and SU
5. ?????
6. PROFIT!!
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought you can't downgrade hboot 1.5. To downgrade, you need s-off, and I'm pretty sure s-off is impossible with 1.5 as of this point.

Did you try following this guide?

If you need additional details, the Guide/Flashing Notes in my signature may help you.

yes but the first step is to unlock the boot loader but it doesnt work. I get nothing on my screen to continue bootloader unlock
Stuck at step 13 right? You have to reflash to stock Ruu and u will be able to unlock.

I've got directions for using the RUU PG86IMG.zip linked in the guide/flashing notes in my signature. But yes, you put the correct RUU zip on the sdcard and boot to bootloader.
Ive flashed the ruu before but now my evo 3d wont recognize the file.
Ive tried naming it pg86img.zip and just pg86img

FYI, it may be case sensitive. Must be PG86IMG.zip . Make sure it doesn't end up with .zip.zip in it either.

Good day.
I have a rooted Legend (1.31.405.4), on which I want to load one of these experimental ICS ROMs.
Did it with my DHD, no problem at all.
Difference is, this Legend has S-ON.
I have checked HTCdev, they have only one .exe listed for the Legend. Downloaded that, did not work.
Is there any quick and easy way to unlock this thing?
Thanks in advance.
JD
Nope the htcdev unlock is the quickest easiest method.
You just need to read the instructions carefully and follow ALL of the steps.
Go to the dev section there is a dedicated thread with detailed instructions and ideas from the wonderful xda members
What you can also look at doing is following what blay0 said in the same dev thread about the hboot 1.02 you can update it without having to unroot/install stock HTC firmware.

Few more questions..
I found the posting but err... I am a newbie.
So here are a few simple questions:
1. How do I do a nandroid on a legend?
2. Which bootloader do i use from HTCDEV when my operator is not listed?
3. Where do I find the profile directory?
That is it. I have posted a question to HTCDev but no reply as of yet.
There is a way to work around not being in that list of operators, but I forgot what it was
Anyway thanks for your help.
For nandroids, boot into recovery and select the backup option. Or download ROM Manager and do it from there.

Yes there is a work around, that's the post by blay0 I was talking about. Btw newbies are ok only if they can read lol
Sent from my Legend using XDA
If they can read?
Newbies are welcome as long as they can read?
Of course this goes for senior members as well: would be helpful if you could simply read the question, instead of getting so excited about being senior member.
As I said before:
- I checked out HTCDEV to find the appropriate RUU.
- My carrier not listed, but as they seemed all the same I downloaded it anyway.
- While running it I get the message the right ROM is not available yet.
As I have a 2 year old phone, and did nothing else but a standard unroot via a downgrade to 1.31.405.5, I can hardly imagine this.
FYI as BlaY0 mentioned I looked for the rom.zip, but cannot find it.
Dear jaydavidof I sincearly apologize, my comment was not meant with malice, the meaning was purely that being a newbie is not a bad thing. I do realize this was taken as being condescending and I'm sorry.
After you run the hboot1.02 ruu, but before you try to install it (after the wizard has unpacked it) search your entire hard drive for the rom.zip file.
Once you've found it follow what it says in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22613990&postcount=62 snip, should have hboot 1.02 and unlocked by the end of that post.

No sweat ranger, I say it loud: I'm a newbie and I'm proud.
Here's another newbie question: where do I get the RUU for hboot 1.2?
I have:
- Searched the htcdev site, cannot find my carrier
- Searched the 580 downloads, my Legend's not among them.
- Searched the net, same result
So what do I do now?
Greetings from a grateful newbie..
The hboot1.02 is what you have been looking for the whole time that's what the ruu from htcdev is, the zip component is inside the ruu.exe.
Sent from my Legend using XDA
So the question is: how can I install HBOOT 1.02.
When I run the RUU I get an error message telling me my ROM is not supported yet.
Is there a workaround?
According to Blay0 I have to find a rom.zip, but after running the RUU (and after the error message) rom.zip is simply not there.
Your problem is your not understanding what is written.
When you run the ruu, don't try and install the hboot don't even connect your phone to anything. Start the install process by running the ruu.Exe, after the install wizard has unpacked its files but before you reach the installing phase and while the install program is running don't close it, do your search, it will be in a temp folder on your hard drive.
Sent from my Legend using XDA
Done that.
1. Ran the RUU, found the rom.zip, put it on my SD card.
2. Renamed it to LEGEIMG.zip
2. Did the reboot bootloader command, phone goes to FASTBOOT.
3. There I select BOOTLOADER
Now it looks for files and tells me eventually LEGEIMG: No image or wrong image!
What do I do wrong?
Greetings,
JD
Well done that's a good step compleat.
Sorry my bad forget my last post the screen flashes up to quick to see the file name....the file I was seeing was LEGEDIAG.zip...
Do you have that file in the root of your sdcard? Or in a folder? It needs to be in the root...
Also what is the file size of the zip file...

Hello Ranger,
I got some news to report: I reformatted another SD card (FAT32), and I put the LEGEIMG file (123,310 KB) on it.
It recognised the file, loaded it, and then..
it said CID incorrect, update fail!
There is some progress, that's the good news.
Any suggestions?
JD
Okay, more progress..
I have reformatted another SD card (FAT32) and put on there the LEGEIMG that has a size of 212 KB.
After adb reboot bootloader it recognizes the file and asks me do I want to update?
Do I want to update?
YES!
But now I go back to my bootloader and it still says S-ON, but above this there is now a line of text that says **** LOCKED (OOW) ***
This I understand means its out of warranty.
Now what?

Ok good, you have successfully updated to hboot1.02.
Now you must go back to htcdev.com and go through all the steps for bootloader unlocking procedure.
The final steps to unlock will be sent to you via email after you follow ALL the steps correctly and compleatly on htcdev.com website. Included in the email you get will be an attachment file I think its called unlock.bin DO NOT LOOSE IT it is probably the most important file you will ever get!
Once you unlock your bootloader you must then follow the S-OFF method for clockwork mod recovery. Goto the thread in the legend development section and read it and follow the steps involved.
P.s. don't worry about the s-on status, worry about the top line that says locked/unlocked.

As far as I know you cant s-off hboot 1.02, besides, there is no need to, as you can pretty much do everything needed anyhow.
Your trying to install an ruu, so you need to re-lock hboot again.
From memory reboot into bootloader, connect phone to computer, select fastboot mode, in cmd mode on pc goto where fastboot.exe is and then type fastboot OEM lock.
Just double check that before doing it, the instructions were included in the unlocking email from htcdev.

Ok, I searched google on your behalf
Error 131 means you are trying to install an ruu not ment for the region of your phone, the solution is to either install the correct Rom for the region of your phone or make a goldcard, however at this point the website to make goldcard is not running.
There is however a backdoor to make goldcard that might work, look in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41527043 and have a read.

Hi guys,
My phone is a AT&T HTC One 64GB. I rooted and flashed a custom rom few weeks ago. Today I wanted to unroot the phone so I followed the instructions and downloaded the RUU file for AT&T as well. After relocking the bootloader I tried flashing the RUU which started pretty smoothly. One thing I noticed was the image version of my phone and the downloaded file was different. The version in my phone was 1.26.502.6 and the downloaded file was 1.26.502.12. I proceeded with the installation. Which started ok and the phone had its HTC logo lighted up, but after about 20 minutes the installer showed a message saying error and stopped working.
Do you think I should retry doing this or find a file with the same image version and flash it ?
I tried Unlocking my bootloader after this again but it did not work. cmd freezes.
Please help me out..
Thanks,
Did you flash the stock recovery prior to running the ruu? I think this is required in addition to locking the boot loader.

Sure.,
When I flashed the ruu I got an error message and my phone froze where the HTC logo comes during the flashing process.
I tried restarting my phone using the power button but it did not restart and I just plugged it to my wall charger and the phone went back to the bootloader which said "ruu" intend of the normal fields in the boot loader.
Then I tried restarting again and it worked and I tried to go to the bootloader on the restart and I was back to my bootloader. Tried unlocking the bootloader so I can restore the phone but it didn't work either.
I switched off the phone and charged it till the battery was full and then tried unlocking the bootloader, then it worked, flashed the restore and got my phone running.
I relocked the bootloader and tried flashing the ruu then it worked, and that's how I did it.

This is my first post,so go easy.
I rooted,S-off,and SuperCID my HTC One and have been running CLEANRom 4.0 and love it, but now that 5.0 is here I would like to upgrade my firmware from 2.24.401.1 to the newest firmware before flashing 5.0. I also messed up and never made a nandroid of stock so going back to that is going to be difficult. Is there any way that I can update without returning phone to stock.
What would the process be to get this thing done?
I have also downloaded the 1.26.502.15 if that is any help.

Thanks man. Now the thread says that you have to be s off before this. Will this return me to stock? Will i have to do S-off and superCID again and root as well?

No, this wont touch any of that...it is just firmware zip with radio, so wont touch your rom. And you cant lose s-off or supercid, unless you manual type in the commands to change them.... but I read somwhere its good to reflash whatever rom you are currently running, after updating firmware. But may not be necessary.....

So the process is something like this:
1 Hook phone to computer
2 Put phone in fastboot
3 Run .exe file in the zip you download
enjoy?
Or am i missing a step in there? I keep seeing people re-lock the bootloader. Is that something that needs to happen?
I also downloaded one of these zips and it didn't have a exe file? was that one for side-loading?

Relock is necessary if not superCID.
Command is fastboot oem rebootRUU
Zip file is for flashing using fastboot. Go to RUU mode, then enter fastboot flash zip "zip name"
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

For the firmware link I posted above, there is no need to be superCID, as long as you have the CID listed in that post.
Also not so sure about needing to relock....following the instructions here, I had no problems.
