I installed Omega 9 sometime back to try Jelly bean and it was a very bad idea.
So I wiped my phone within 10 mins as it was always crashing on me and downloaded the stock firmware
Today I was checking my GF's S3 and her software version is:
PDA:LFB / PHONE:LFB / CSC:LF3 (MID)
But mine says:
PDA:LFB / PHONE:LFB / CSC:LF3 (AFR)
Bear in mind that we live in the Middle East (Dubai)
Did I get the wrong firmware or something?
I am concerned that I may have downloaded a radio file that is optimized for Africa rather than middle east
I googled PDA:LFB / PHONE:LFB / CSC:LF3 (MID) but it doesn't come up with anything
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the info from my GF's phone which is on the stock OS which was updated automatically OTA to 4.0.4:
I9300XXLFB
IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB
Kernel 3.0.15-782020-user
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 26 00:3010 KST 2012
Android Version: 4.0.4
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mine says the same thing in the ABOUT section but in KIES it says I have the AFR version
every know and then I have to restart my phone and when I restart I get many whatsapp messages and emails and software updates so I think the radio is at sleep or not working sometimes which now I suspect may be linked to the fact that I am not running the MID version
please enlighten me and where to get the MID version for my firmware
thanks
Use the option to change your csc using dialer.. I don't remember the combination but you will get it here somewhere..
Otherwise use csc changer apply from the market..

So then I will have the same radio file as hers and everything?
Also, if I do that, will I lose my current root and will have to re-root?
ahh I lost the root, If I re root now will I get back to point 0 and not being on MID or will I stay on MID now?

Hi there,
I currently purchased a new SG3. It has the vodafone branding which I want to change. When I do the *#1234# it shows me the following:

Am I able to change the software/firmware from Vodafone to the Telstra one located on Sammobile. Im unable to post outside links but heres a copy of whats available on sammobile.
Firmwares for GT-I9300T - All (10 latest)
Country/Carrier Date Android PDA CSC
Australia (Telstra) 2012 June 4.0.4 I9300TDUALF2 I9300TTELALF2
Australia (Telstra) 2012 May 4.0.4 I9300TDUALE6 I9300TTELALE6
I got no idea how all this rooting stuff works. Im trying to learn but I can get my head around it. So sorry if any of my questions seem stupid. Thanks for all your help in advance.
No need rooting to flash.
And yes you can flash Telstra firmware on Voda model, they are the same hardwares.
You need Odin 3.04 and need samsung usb driver or if you already have it working with Kies, then no worries about driver.
Here I copied the general instruction from the UK thread:
Instructions For Flashing Firmware:
Extract the firmware
Launch Odin
Turn off your device
Put your device into Download MODE (Home + Volume Down + Power)
Click PDA and select *.tar.md5
Then finally click START!
Thanks mate. Am downloading the firmware now. Its gonna take 2 hours to download.
Am I meant to change any of the options in Odin3?
Thanks again.
Now that I have flashed my galaxy s3 successfully.
I keep getting the message "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped"
Does anyone know what this is or can direct me into the right place? Ive done a factory reset as another thread recommended but didnt work.
Thanks

Background
Back in June/July when I was attending my friend's wedding in the states I bought a GT-i9100 off eBay while I was there (I live in the UK). Came with Gingerbread installed at 2.3.4. I knew there was a 2.3.5 available and possibly even ICS so I tried an OTA update. ~EDIT: I just remembered the other reason I wanted to update was that the screen had a yellow tinge and other some users were saying updating the phone fixed that for them.~ Nothing. Looked around the web, found out you need to do it via KIES and that there was indeed an ICS update for the GS2. Phone wouldn't connect to KIES so I did some more looking around in case there was a known problem but I also came to the realisation that my phone might be from a region where it wasn't released.
It turned out to have originally been bought in Hong Kong (the previous owner left some family photos and company documents on it too). I should have realised sooner when the phone had chinese as a secondary keyboard language. I identified the CSC as ZSKI3 and lo and behold Hong Kong wasn't getting ICS for the GS2.
Did some poking around and got confused by the conflicting or rather inconsistency between guides to change the CSC. Somehow followed followed one guide and put on XWLP7 (I believe this is open Europe. But I think I only flashed the ROM (PDA). I ended up with ICS but there have been minor niggles whilst using it which I think might be caused by something being mismatched between the firmware, kernal and rom.
***
Problem
I believe I'm suffering some problems with my GS2 because I flashed just the PDA to ICS and now there might be some conflicts going on between it and the firmware/kernal.
I would like to correct the CSC, ROM, firmware and kernal to open Europe or some other open CSC which you believe to be better.
I understand that I got myself into this mess and don't expect you to take the time to give detailed instructions.

Ok, i did very much the same thing as you. Ok probably no. I brought mine oversea not ebay. However i live in Australia. But the phone was stock from asia. I wanted try flash and play with different roms. Blah blah.
What you need to do is have a data cable like one you were trying to use with Kies. Now you need to see if you can get into odin mode ( from an off phone position, hold down vol down + home key while turning on the phone.) This feature as far as i know is for all android phones. And is one feature you cant break, flash or change. ( note, if ya cant get to odin mode, you have yourself a brick, screwed or stuffed or wat word deem appropriate? )
If all above is working. Goto http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 somewhere in the mid of that page is some field you need to put in. Pick your phone model, and the country you are in or want the phone to set in. Down load the file. And follow the odin guide which i am not typing out. You can google it with full pictures And video eye candy.
Good luck.
I got my S II with custom MIUI ROM. Then I downloaded and flashed with Odin stock 4.0.3. ROM. Everything was OK, then it updated over WiFi to 4.0.4 and installed some other updates and this is what I got on my phone now.

Today I updated Kies on PC to latest version, plugged in my phone and got message that there is new firmware.
(2nd screenshot on PC)
When I try update over WiFi I get no new updates available...
According to SamMobile Firmware page this update is 4.0.3 (http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9100&pcode=NEE&os=1&type=1#firmware)
Nordic countries ------- 2012 October ------- 4.0.3 ------- I9100XWLPY ------- I9100NEELP6 ------- Download ------- Unlock ------- Info
Why does it want me to downgrade?
So should I update or not?
It does not want you to downgrade. The only difference between the 2 firmwares is the csc version.
your current version is csc LP5 NEE.
updated version on kies csc LP6 NEE.
apprently kies version has a newer csc.
1. will it remain on current 4.0.4 version?
2. will this process of updateing CSC delete everything (factory reset)?
3. should I do it ?
Thanks.
sorry i missed one other peice of information.
It will be upgraded to XWLPY which is newer then XWLPX.
Hi
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as i'm at the end of my tether.
I have the bog standard S3 GT-i9300 Nordic (purchased in Sweden)
Trying to flash back to stock firmware I downloaded the I9300XXBLH3_I9300NEEBLH2_I9300XXLH1_HOME.tar.md5 firmware (4.0.4) Downloaded from Sammobile
Flashed with odin
Restart loop - so I went into recovery mode, cleared cache and reset, restarted fine....
Upon restart phone downloads firmware update.... Updates
The in settings - about device i have Android version 4.1.1 - Baseband version I9300XXDLID Build number JRO03c.I9300XXDLJ2 (French??)
Kernal version 3.0.31 -319653

SMP PREEMT Thu Oct 11 23:43:16 KST 2012
Although this firmware lets me use my Telia Sim card it will not let me use my 02 simcard - Now I know the phone was originaly unbranded & unlocked
I then went into Kies and restored there, entering the phones serial number etc.
The phone was then updated to 4.1.2 (Russia) I9300XXELL4
I have no idea what I have done for the phone not to restore back to stock official Nordic firmware that is unlocked.....
Any help is very much gratefully received.

Post in Q&A forum..not here
Hi their all im matt
what it is i have the samsung galaxy s3 i9300 i bought it from carphone warehouse a while back in london (uk obviously) on sim only, so it wasnt branded etc.
Anyway shortly after a while i wanted to root it as i heard about all the benefits etc, so i used the samsung toolkit 7.0 and it rooted fine
anyway for some reason i ened up unrooting it i cannot remember why but i did, and now my device status shows as MODIFIED, and the OTA updates does seem to work as it just says searching but does nothing, ( im guessing this is because i unrooted and the device status says modified)
but before i rooted in the first place i never wrote down what firmware was on the model ( obviously the stock rom but i dont know what rom it was seen as i bought it from carphone warehouse in the uk)
but i wish to root my mobile again but also have the stock rom what came with the actual phone installed.
the rom information on my mobile is :
andorid version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: i9300XXELKC
Kernal version: 3.0.31-742798 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT SAT DEC 22 17:04:04 KST 2012
Build number JZO54K.I9300XXELKC
can anybody tell me if this is the stock rom that came on my phone when i bought it from carphone warehouse or did i do something wrong when i rooted it in the first place and its installed some other rom. as i just want the stock rom and be able to update as normal but be rooted and device status to be OFFICAL and not MODIFIED
hope somebody can help me with step-by-step instructions
thank you
I've rooted and unrooted a few times, and yes because it says modified you are unable to update. The easiest way and the way i have previously done it was download
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
and run the flash stock via Odin, this will download a stock firmware which it will then install. Follow the steps to the letter though.
Ive managed to update via kies previously and had an OTA update for it too.
The Uk unbranded firmware version is BTU, if it asks and i believe if you install XXELLA it will then update via kies.
Hi i used the samsung toolkit v7.0 like you said and ODIN loaded up and used the flash thingy but it does nothing to my mobile.
it still says
andorid version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: i9300XXELKC
Kernal version: 3.0.31-742798 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT SAT DEC 22 17:04:04 KST 2012
Build number JZO54K.I9300XXELKC
in the about device.
so what firmware should be on my galaxy s3, if i bought it from carphone warehouse in uk should it be BTU or ELLA

BTU is the country code for the firmware. Basically a uk firmware has BTU on it. ELLA is the firmware version. I flashed that one and it was 06 on the selection screen from that toolkit. I managed to do firmware upgrade OTA successfully.
Now that odin has finished does it still say modified?

ok iv downloaded and flashed a rom im beliving is the correct one now it says

right i heard about a csc changer and as you said before my samsung galaxy s3 should be on BTU, but it appears it wasnt, it looked like it was on XEO.
so i installed csc changer from the google play and it reset my mobile.
device status: says normal,
in download mode, everything is offical again.
but im not rooted
how do i get my mobile rooted without anything changing to custom again
not: i backed up all my apps via titanium
Im pretty sure rooting your device changes it back to modified as its flashes a new image.
Triangle away by chainfire can reset the flash counter so possibly give that a try.
