Although the 3 handsets are branded ROMs, I don't think they are locked onto the 3 network.

Even if it is locked to three if you got it on a contract after 30 days you can request for an unlock which I did and now my phone is unlocked to all networks

Is there a way to unlock my sim so I can stay with t-mobile but use any AT &T phone.

You don't unlock the SIM card, you unlock the phone itself to use a different carrier other than the one it was locked to . (IE- Samsung Vibrant is locked to T-Mobile, unlock it and you can use a AT&T SIM card in it and it will run on AT&T)

If you are in good standing with AT&T you can request an unlock code from them.

Like the previous poster said, you can unlock directly through ATT if you are their customer.
If not, search for Atrix unlock code on ebay. Those should work too but cost money.

[Q] Help!

I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what carrier will work my Note 3. I bought it for brand new for $300 form someone on cl. I've researched a lot but since I'm not on sprint i cant get it internationally unlocked to use it with gsm networks. So can I flash to use cricket or metro pcs without a sim card? And How would anybody do it themselves?

But I cant do this without first having an account with either of them right?
Cause as of right now, I dont have any carrier, would I have to open up an number?
Correct, you would need to set up service...can't just piggy-back on a network with a deactivated device.

You can get the code from ATT, ebay or do it yourself (which is what I did) ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124544
There is a way to unlock it without a code. I have a Rogers i717 on T-Mobile network. Search the threads. I think the instructions are still there. Barring that, try Google. If I find it I'll post a link.
