[DEV] miniCM10 debug only thread (shakira, robyn and mimmi)
there is 3 thread for miniCM10, each device specific.
things i say in one thread is also applicable to others
for debugging purpose, i need this only thread for the 3 devices to centralize the data
this thread is NOT for asking or requesting anything, it is there for providing test results !
post #135 : pilu's small tutorial about getting more space in /data
post #82 : old things, archiving
>>>here is a list of some useful commands to know how does your device run<<< (at the end of the post)
to improve miniCM10, you could :
post results after following protocols,
[*]help me to set up test new protocols,
[*]give advices about them
[*]suggest things to investigate IF you can prove it worths to
#2 : wifi and tiwlan.ini
The aim of this one is testing two or more tiwlan.ini and observing modification in wifi behavior
default tiwlan.ini :
Code:

#3 various build.prop tweaks
here are some "tweaks" that xelyt posted :
If you want to test the following tweaks remember to make a backup of your build.prop first. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Original post here
Hey guys
I'm currently testing two build.prop tweaks that should make things even faster.
The first one is a heapsize optimization:
Code:
dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
-------------> this exist in build.prop so you don't have to add it again
Code:
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m
dalvik.vm.heaptargetutilization=0.75
dalvik.vm.heapminfree=512k
dalvik.vm.heapmaxfree=2m
The second one is a way to set a limit for background processes without having to tick it in developer setting every boot
Code:
sys.mem.max_hidden_apps=
I found out that the most used values are: 15 (should be the default value if i'm not wrong), 10, 5, 4, 3
I tried with sys.mem.max_hidden_apps=10 first and it seems to make a noticeable difference in term of smoothness. Amount of free RAM is also increased to about 60mb.

and here is another one :
changing dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags
xelyt said:
According to this the dalvik.vm.verify_bytecode property has been superceded by dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags so it doesn't disable bytecode verification anymore. If you want to disable bytecode verification you have to change dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags to v=n,o=v but i don't reccomend this because it could make some apps not working properly. As for the tweaked build.prop i'm sure that you also noticed that i changed
Code:
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=m=y
to
Code:
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v=a,o=v,m=y,u=y
(which it's like verify=all, dexopt=verified, registermaps=yes, uniprocessor=yes) in order to build a more optimized dalvik cache

to apply the new settings, reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik-cache
enjoy!

#5
a last one, in case of
This will fix bugs .. good idea ..
so i'll try to do my best to find bugs
FYI
I have followed the instructions on installation of the ROM to the letter(I can read, yay).
I have only installed the ROM once.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bug or not..
I have my phone on 3G, a few calls and some internet usage gives approx 50h of battery time -> 10% = 5h
Sometimes when having phone idle it has consumed 20% of the battery during one hour.
This is directly after removing the device from charger.
Checking what has used the power is screen and android system as always, nothing else.
Restart or charge the device resolves the issue.
Hey [email protected], glad to see the thread, hopefully we will be able to find something useful.
Remember me talking about the lockscreen bug? I mean if you set
Settings/Security/Show widgets before unlock ON, you can never go back, if you untick it, the widgets will still be displayed, even reboot doesn´t change it. This is not a big issue though, I´m just talking about it because of my suspicion that it might have to do something with the black screen bug. Because five days ago I did a new install from scratch /no restoring at all, wanted to see how default settings work again/ and believe me or not, since then I haven´t seen the black screen at all. Not once. And what was the difference from the previous install? I haven´t touched the above mentioned widgets setting. Just set up my screen lock /using pattern but that´s irrelevant/ and no other changes on security page.
mms and qcomuiccstack property in build.prop
i am still looking for data for this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29018876&postcount=173 --> better look to the #2 post of the current thread, the link was to show i also asked this for miniCM9
thx
post #2 updated for more precision, please follow the protocol, i need a lot of data to conclude anything
only then, we will focus a little more on the "hard to wake up" screen bug that is partially solved for next released build
No problem here with or without qcomuiccstack

yeah, its hard to wake up device when we in ICS or JB with 600 Mhz
even Xperia 2011 with 1 Ghz cpu have this problem in GB and ICS
I'm already test it with stock rom
it's awesome our mini have Froyo, GB, ICS and JB with only 600 Mhz
just need to wait and gonna post any bug
XD
sorry, out of topic
i just want to share and want to people know, our developers it' s awesome
XD

please try it, and report back, if it works i'll post something about it here and will ask more people to test it (i can't try it myself atm...)
but doesn't it have the same goal as "force GPU2D rendering" and "disable hardware overlap"? in settings/dev options ?

Yeah, exactly, I think we have it already. Maybe dev could explain to us some more.
Note: disable HW overlays setting doesn´t survive reboot

Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
My network is Vodafone P (Portugal) and i can confirm that MMS is working fine for me with both settings. Receiving MMS although has always been an issue for me even on stock Roms, the only thing that always worked for me is disabling "MMS auto-retrieve", but i'm certain that this problem is not Rom-related.

From what i read on that thread, it looks like the purpose is the same, yes. I turned on "force GPU2D rendering" yesterday and so far it looks like it improves performance overall.

[script] reliable interface stats
[script] reliable interface stats pro: reliable, works on any Linux; low battery consumption; runs only when necessary contra: no GUI prerequisites: script manager able to trigger on network changes root is not needed, because the script uses the readable-for-all /proc/net/dev interface to gather statistics. My problem was that I could not find any app that would give me the megabytes sent from/to the device. They would either ignore GPRS, WiFi or count from reboot to reboot, display stupid ads or cost even money without delivering. I'm on a data flatrate with throttling from 200MB up, and I only want to know how much I already "spent". The following script should run on network changes, but it can be run at any time. You get more data entries in the log files for the various active interfaces when running it more often. EDIT: it turns out the "network change" event works perfectly for interface wlan0, but not for pdp0, which happens to be the GPRS/G2/G3/G4 packet interface. Maybe "Tasker" does better than "Script Manager" with this, try and find out. What will always work is manual mode: after using an interface, run the script. This will enter the numbers from any interface that traffic into the respective log. The script is run with zero or one argument. If given, it can be the name of an interface or the string "all" to get just a readout of the current counters of all interfaces that had traffic without logging anything. The output is lines with bytes, data packets, errornous and dropped packets for "rx" (received) and "tx" (transmitted) for all or the selected interfaces. Without arguments all active interfaces are logged to separate files in /sdcard/. If you want to change this directory or the names or the date format, well, it should be easy to adapt. Note that this first script does only data gathering as to the byte counts and it must run on network events. See below for the script(s) that do evaluation according to date to find out how much to go until throttling. Code: #!/system/bin/sh want_if="${1:-*}" all="" case "-${want_if}" in -all) want_if="*"; all=all; ;; esac log_prefix="/mnt/sdcard/interface-stats" now="$(date '+%d.%m.%y-%H:%M:%S')" # rx: bytes packets errs drop fifo frame compressed multicast # tx: bytes packets errs drop fifo colls carrier compressed # lo: 4944 74 0 0 0 0 0 0 4944 74 0 0 0 0 0 0 # wlan0: 42447725 41554 302 0 0 0 0 0 3280981 33753 0 0 0 0 0 0 while read intf rb rp re rd x x x x tb tp te td rest do case "-${intf}" in -${want_if:-*}:) case "${rb}--${tb}" in 0--0) continue;; esac stats="rx: $rb $rp $re $rd tx: $tb $tp $te $td" intf_="${intf%:}" echo "${intf} ${stats}" [ -z "${all}" ] && echo "${now} ${stats}" >> "${log_prefix}-${intf_}.txt" ;; esac done < /proc/net/dev exit 0 Here's the script to output the megabytes. It gets zero, one or two arguments, the first being a date pattern that needs to match the dates in the log file, the second the name of said logg. An optional third argument, if given, gives debug output. Use only if the number doesn't look plausible. It doesn't need any special privileges and can be run anytime. If less than one megabyte has been hit so far, then the output is the number of bytes. Due to limitations of "awk" there can still be decimals in the output! Code: # /home/ino/interface-stats.sh _date: 20120225-2103_ # vim: set filetype=sh ts=4: # -*- mode: sh; -*- # # <url:man:1 awk> # sample: # # 25.02.12-02:28:28 rx: 182909647 374371 462 0 tx: 681742703 542899 0 0 # 25.02.12-12:15:00 rx: 3 374464 494 0 tx: 5 542974 0 0 # # at around noon the device was rebooted, so the stats start at low # values. # # algorithm: # # initialize old-accumulator and offset to zero. # # since received and transmitted bytes are accumulated by the kernel, # the script has to just store the sum of the received and transmitted # bytes into an accumulator, unless the current value is less than the # running count. this happens after a reboot. so store this first low # value into $offset, store the old accumulator and keep the running game # until either the next reboot or EOF. now # accumulator = old-accumulator + accumulator - offset. awk_prog=' BEGIN { debug = debug > 0 accu=0 accu_old=0 offset=0 accu_sum=0 # megabytes mb_scaler=1024*1024 # field definitions rx_bytes=3 rx_packets=4 rx_errors=5 rx_dropped=6 tx_bytes=8 tx_packets=9 tx_errors=10 tx_dropped=11 # date pattern # 25.02.12-12:15:00 rx: 3 374464 494 0 tx: 5 542974 0 0 pat_date_dflt = "[0-9][0-9]\.[0-9][0-9]\.[0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9]:[0-9][0-9]:[0-9][0-9]" pat_date = length(pat_date) == 0 ? pat_date_dflt : pat_date } function dbg(x) { if (debug > 0) print("debug: " x); } # no particular validity check: if there are 11 fields and the first one # matches the date the user is after, we will use the record. Does somebody know what tags to brace code with in order to keep formatting intact? To me all my stuff has no indentation and lines seem to break at other points than just and only newlines! EDIT: just found out that there's no problem in the web view, it's just the "forum runner" that can't render what the "\[ code \]" tag generates. Well, as an alternative, what's the least-hassle file dump?
Flashed Evo 3D - no Google Play?
Hi All. First I want to thank to Anryl for the great ROM that I am using (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468960) Unfortunately I have 1 problem. When I go to the Google Play Store I dont seem to find some applications that should be there. I was kinda surprised. Did you log in with your google account? Try logging in to google talk and try clearing market cache and updates. I had a similar problem on a gingerbread Rom where none of my purchased or installed apps showed up. Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
ro.product.model=HTC EVO 3D X515m Click to expand... Click to collapse I believe that should just say HTC EVO 3D, not x515m.
Clear your google play cache (Settings, applications,, manage applications, all, google play). Reload google play...give it a few mins to resync and all your apps should be there
00mpollard said: Clear your google play cache (Settings, applications,, manage applications, all, google play). Reload google play...give it a few mins to resync and all your apps should be there Click to expand... Click to collapse +1 However, if its saying its not compatible via the site it may be due to ICS. x515m is the model number for the EVO 3D so that shouldn't matter. My build.prop shows shooter and htc_shooter for me. I'm running Unicorn M5 (ICS AOSP). What apps aren't showing? I'll check my app store. Sent from my AOSP 3VO
Well pretty much all popular apps. Only not that popular are available. For instance. When I search for angry birds I dont get the gae but I get some apps like backup angry birds, unclock all angry birds levels etc. I am flashed with a rom based on the leaked Evo 3D firmware as it is the only one with working 3D camera. I tried another rom (based on HTC One) and everything is working fine... I decided to copy the build.prop from the working rom and copy it on the non-working. Waiting for progress.
Did the new build.prop work to fix your market issues? If so, please post the working one here. I've had the exact same problem with Google Play since running ICS ROMs. Been thinking of copying over fields from the build.prop from a previous GB installation backup, just haven't had time to try it yet. Sent from my PG86100
Try downloading the Google Play Store.Apk from 4shared or something then install and replace the ROM's Google Play Store.apk Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
biggest issue I see is no one is saying version numbers. which version of google play is everyone talking about? what's the most recent version?
I think 3.5.16 is the latest version. Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
"Guide" how to enable N standard and 5ghz band on ics
Hi I have discovered how to enable N standard and 5ghz band in ics 1. go to /system/etc/firmware 2. find these files names PHP: fm_rx_init_1273.2.bts fm_tx_init_1273.2.bts fmc_init_1273.2.bts If they are their u can apply 5ghz band .. But if they aren't .. U won't get 5ghz band Now for gb users 4.Go to /system/etc/ and find tiwlan.ini Note: In CM7 based ROMs the path may be /system/etc/wifi 5.Look for the following lines: PHP: HT_Enable=0 BurstModeEnable =0 WifiAdhoc=0 Single_Dual_Band_Solution =0 To PHP: HT-Enable=1 BurstModeEnable =1 WifiAdhoc=1 Single_Dual_Band_Solution =1 Reboot your phone and have fun U can see all that in orher threads .. But in ics u cann't find 1st 3 of these lines So i have discovered a way to enable that in ics Now for ics users 1-Go to /system/etc/ and find tiwlan.ini Note: In CM7 based ROMs the path may be /system/etc/wifi 2-open tiwlan.ini with text editor Select all words and delete after that past these lines .. It is from gb and it workes on ics PHP: # Note: The letters in this file are NOT case sensitive. AW: [REQ] Complete phone partition backup Hello, I start to collect all partitions from our Galaxy mini. This will be usefull to overwrite custom binary count to original. So if anyone things this could be successfull, becuause that were easy to manage write it here. We need partitions from phones where binary count is original at zero. I don t know all partitions and the command for dd, so if somebody helps, they help us all. Hope for answers if it might be usefull. Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
You can look them up using root explorer, just navigate to dev/block they're all there.
I have just entered the time dd if = / dev/block/mmcblk0 of = / sdcard / backup XXXX.tar not I know what that is but the file was afterwards so great that I had no more space on the internal sd card. gone were the yes on ext sd is just my take yesterday broke sorry my english is not so good
Yes it's 1.27GB.
AW: [REQ] Complete phone partition backup was this the right mmcblk0 been block? Gesendet von meinem GT-I8190 mit Tapatalk 2
I don't know, you have to ask somebody else.
AW: [REQ] Complete phone partition backup Well, i ve backuped mmcblk0, and terminal says: at around 3 GB not enough space. But i ve a plan... This file seems to be the whole phone memory. So if we have that, i could search for "binary download" in bytes. Maybe i find the position out .. Then we could patch the file with zero count through a hex editor. Sound easy, basic hacking! Look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140514 Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
There's a Hex Editor on Google Play, just seen it. Just search Hex. Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium

Can someone install voodoo report from the market, run it and email the output zip file to [email protected] or attach it here. I am thinking about making a toolkit for the S3 mini but just need some more information. Also you cannot dump the data partition as it includes the Internal Storage (which is where you are trying to dump it to) so effectively yo uwould be trying to dump a 16/32GB partition and save it to itself which just isnt possible. Instead you have to tar the data folder and exclude the /data/media folder as follows: adb shell su tar -pcvf /data/media/data.ext4.tar /data --exclude='data/media' The toolkit will include a full NAND backup procedure in both CWM and TWRP formats. Mark.

[HOW TO] WORKING screen mirroring ON ROOTED DEVICES, bypass HDCP and ALL of allshare
so here's the deal. trying to start screen mirroring on a rooted device in most cases HDCP will fail to initialize, when this happens screen mirroring will connect then disconnect with an error. after a lot of research, logging and testing on my device I have found a way to bypass HDCP and also bypass Samsung restriction on allowing screen mirroring without HDCP. HDCP is not a requirement for screen mirroring but Samsung has programmed the s4 to fail if the HDCP connection is not initialized. I have found that when the phone speaks to the miracast dongle the phone is programmed to force the setting of "Display service Type = HDMI" instead of allowing it to connect as Type = Wifi. when the phone forces type = HDMI it makes screen mirroring fail if HDCP fails, this is a basic and enforced protocol of HDMI, this results in screen mirroring shutting off if HDCP fails, I believe this is Samsung's attempt to stop people from rooting their phones and also to stop people from using non Samsung dongles. some people have found ways around this by hacking the HDCP lib files, but in my case this was not possible because I own a Sgh-i337 on mf3 with a locked bootloader. unfortunately I can't post pictures so I can post my screen mirroring logs, but heres an explanation as to how this was accomplished. First was to quarantine all Samsung Apps & services that were related to screen mirroring, this was an attempt to get the system to fall back to the native screen mirroring services and not use samsung's implementation. I locked up: Com.sec.allsharecastplayer Com.samsung.shareshot Samsung watch on Samsung briefing Allshare.controlShareService Allshare.fileShareService Samsung context provider All Knox Samsung MDM app Allshare.service.mediaShare Samsung apps Samsung apps UNA2 Samsung apps widget Samsung link Samsung push next I tried to find out a way to edit the DisplayManagerService's forced type of HDMI to change it to Type = Wifi, unfortunately because I was on Mf3, this couldn't be done. but I was able to force this option with a build prop edit and last download and enable https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...HOm-sQSyqoCgCA Even if multi window plus doesnt work. Keep it for now untill I can trace down a setting change. surprisingly after all this was done screen mirroring now works. below I will post copies of my build prop and also the WFDConfig files from /system/ect ---- Build prop : debug.sf.hw=0 debug.composition.7x27A.type=mdp debug.composition.7x25A.type=mdp dalvik.vm.heapsize=24m debug.composition.type=dyn persist.hwc.mdpcomp.enable=false service.camera.gpu.enable=0 Debug.Disable.HWC=1 debug.sf.disablehwc=1 ro.display.switch=0 #dyn # system props for the cne module # persist.cne.feature=0 # # system props for the MM modules # media.stagefright.enable-player=true media.stagefright.enable-meta=true media.stagefright.enable-scan=true media.stagefright.enable-http=false media.stagefright.enable-fma2dp=true media.stagefright.enable-aac=true media.stagefright.enable-qcp=true media.enable-commonsource=true media.stagefright.enable-rtsp=true # # system props for the LPA/TUNNEL # lpa.decode=true tunnel.decode=true lpa.use-stagefright=true tunnel.audiovideo.decode=true # # system prop for opengles version # ro.opengles.version=131072 # # system props for the data modules # ro.use_data_netmgrd=true persist.data.ds_fmc_app.mode=0 # # system props for IMS module # persist.ims.regmanager.mode=0 # # System prop to disable strict mode flash on display # persist.sys.strictmode.visual=false # # System prop to enable/disable OMH. I have had a 90% success rate with connecting when I connect Right after restarting the phone. Restart, and as soon as your lock screen comes up. Unlock your phone and connect to your dongle. Then you will have clean connects. If ive helped you fix screen mirroring And you would like to thank me.... buy me a coffee PayPal: [email protected]
