Hello fellow Bell Galaxy s2 users,
I read tons of posts that said the stock kernel for our Galaxy s2 is not available to download from Samsung server. However, if you go to https://opensource.samsung.com/ and search I9100M, there is one file available for download.
Now, I don't know whether this is the kernel or something else entirely...... could somebody verify what this file could be?
Cheers,
I believe that file is the source code for our firmware. Unfortunately we cant just flash it to our phones. I'm not an expert on this but I think that it still needs to be compiled.
can't someone compile it then and post it? How hard can it be? or is there bigger problems than that?
Yes. I agree, please compile this! I really would love to have a flashable stock rom for my GT-I9100M.

Whoops, clicked "Thanks" instead of "Quote". Free thanks for you.
Anyways, there is no XXLPX firmware. That version was never applied to a firmware package version. It was applied to a modem version, though.

You didn't specify you wanted to go to Gingerbread. You asked for firmware XXLPX, which doesn't exist.

now I understand the big picture
I thought that XXLPX is like subtype of s2 and it must be matched.

Wow, Sammobile Firmware download for GALAXY S Ⅲ GT-I9300 now charging a €16.50 for a 30 days membership to download 1 firmware is pretty steep.
Edit: I just found some S3 I9300 stock ROM's here on Samsung-updates. They have BTU 4.3 & 4.1.2.
Why do you need a stock firmware?
Maybe you could try a XDA Samsung-based ROMS like NeatROM 4.3 which is using a repacked Samsung kernel? I used NeatROM 4.3 on my GT-I9300 for a couple of years with success, now on Official LineageOS 14.1.
Maybe after that you would need to flash a UK [MODEM] Radio for GT I9300 Europe.
Please report back if it works for you or not.

Thanks but it's already running a custom rom hence needing the stock one as i'm sending it in as part of my trade up to a Note 8. I've got the stock recovery and triangle away from the walk through on here but I still need the stock rom!

The file no longer exists on that link provided either.
To get mine when i had an s3 i had to google for offers for a trial period on rapidshare (the server samsung used at the time) and use the trial to get the fimware. Long winded but i got there eventually.
This is the link I have used:
https://server.samsung-firmware.org...f22446c110f7/SGS3INT-XXUGMK6-BTU-20131216.zip
Seems to be genuine but won't know until I try and hope it doesn't brick my phone!
That is for the UK BTU firmeware which I checked against the Sammobile download page for the firmware code.

I just downloaded a stock ROM for Costa Rica from the Samsung-updates link I posted above using the AlfaFile mirror because I needed the modem.bin file. Very slow, took 4 hours+.
The server. trick looks neat.
