I just rooted my Viper today, i deleted some bloatware, & now my Google Play Store isn't really working properly. It force closes!
I deleted Sprint ID, Google Wallet, Google Maps, Tags, Nascar, basically all the pointless apps that came with the phone..... Just uninstalled the actual apps, none of the foreground processes. The play store opens, shows my apps, but when I click to view the app, I get "THE APPLICATION GOOGLE PLAY STORE (PROCESS COM. ANDROID.VENDING) HAS STOPPED UNEXPECTEDLY. PLEASE TRY AGAIN" I've tried to uninstall & re-install the play store, but still get the same message.
Does anyone know how I could fix this problem???
Also, if i factory reset, will this affect my root or brick the phone? Did i loose the apps & their processes permanently?
Update your profile and prl. I had the same problem until I updated mine.
Or simpler, clear cache. That will probably solve it.
Work case, install the latest GAPPS from Cyanogenmod, the last one for ICS is dated 20120429 or something.
No factory reset will not affect you root it will just delete super user app..your root is still there
It will not brick you phone too..
You can try to change language of your device than start play store this may help sometime
we should polite enough to press thanks for everyone helped uS..
you are dead when you stop learning new things..
I'll try the gapps install..... everything else has failed me.
So none worked.....
I dont have a custom recovery, so installing GAPPS was basically a no go for me. I tried using ES File explorer, nope! I just unrooted the phone & going to take my chances at the sprint repair center. Since SU isnt on anymore, I should be fine right??

I have a terrible Market problem. My Vega loaded with HoneyIce 3.2.7 auto installs Google Play Store which is fine, but when I'm going to click accept on the Terms, it just force-closes. If I'm fast, i can click accept, but it force-closes after that top. When i install an older version of Android Market, it just auto updates and the problem is still the same :S Does anybody know how to fix this?
I'm having the same problem and i think alot of people will since google play just launched , i havent tryed it yet but i think it should work.
Do factory reset over cwm ,
then in terminal emulator:
su -
pm disable com.android.vending.updater
hope this helps , im gonna try this later myself.
It works, thnx You don't need to reset it...

I just assumed it would need reset because it reverts back to android market from google play. But oh well , glad it helped.
Okay, I got Google Play wokring. I don't know what i did, but it works...
Thanks for the fix!
Every time I tried to install/upgrade an app from Market it would say that this app can't be istalled on phone or usb storage. I even tried to install apk files thru manager and it didn't work anymore.
What I did was:
1. Freeze "Market updater" in Titanium Backup (pm disable does the same thing!)
2. Go in Settings-->Applications-->Manage applications-->All-->Google Shop and clear cache+data and then "Uninstall updates".
3. Restart tablet and Market should work once again!
Someone could also post a link to old version (last version before Market was transformed into Google Shop).
I had same force closes, all I did was force stop the app, then cleared its data and now it works fine?

So I have AOKP on my galaxy nexus 4.0.4. I made a back up and installed there JB AOKP to try it out. Lasted about 1.5 hrs. Then I restored with my CWR Backup. I made this back up on June 30. After I restored there was 3 apps thats didnt saw I purchased them when I did on friday. I have google checkout to prove it. I used titanium to restore the 3 missing apps but now in the play store it dont show them under MY APPS. Only when I search for them it shows them. What could cause this and how do I fix it? Theres no way I should have to buy them all over again. The werid thing is titanium worked fine and showed purchased in the play store but the other 3 apps didnt. Maybe its because I purchased titanium yesterday right before the i flashed JB AOKP. The other 3 were on friday.

just "buy" them again from market, you won't be charged a second time
Maybe.....

I know this is kinda old but every time I try to download an app that I've purchased it doesn't show up as being purchased, and prompts me to buy it again. I tried just buying one of them again just to see what would happen and it gave me an error message saying I already owned the app, but it would not install. I've tried clearing cache/data, I've tried clearing the cache/dalvik cache via TWRP, I've tried installing an older version of Google play, I've tried clearing the cache/data for Google play services, I've tried factory resetting my phone twice, I've tried remotely installing the apps through Google play on a computer (it just says an unexpected error has occurred) I've tried deleting my Google account from the device and signing back in, and absolutely nothing seems to work. I'm on a OnePlus 5 running OxygenOS 5.1.1 (Android version 8.1) and I'm rooted using Magisk. I'm gonna try wiping the phone and reflashing the OS later today so I'll let you know how that goes but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What worked for me with a similar issue was removing Google play store completely (with a root file manager or in twrp), reboot and then flash gapps again. After that the play store was working fine again.
P.s. the path to play store is /system/priv-app/phonesky
At least on my Android 8.1 device.

I just tried that, and when it didn't work I went through with re-flashing the operating system all together and I'm now running stock and it's STILL not working so I'm officially at a loss... Thank you for your suggestion though I actually hadn't thought of that.
Running a Galaxy Nexus on Stock 4.1.1 (rooted).
Last week, Play Store randomly started giving me the DF-BPA-09 Error when I wanted to download new apps. Old apps would update fine. I searched XDA and found that turning Google Sync Off and restarting the phone solved it. It worked once or twice, but the problem kept coming back.
Then read another thread that said go to All Apps > Play Store >Uninstall Updates and Clear Data. I did this, and now when I start Play Store, it permenantly gives me 'Server Error', with a Retry Button below it.
I have Titanium Backup Pro, so tried restoring an older version, tried Freezing and Unfreezing the App, still not working.
Would appreciate any help.
tldr; DF-BPA-09 Error used to come, Cleared Play Store Data and now stuck at Server Error.

Your probably not gonna like this suggestion but a factory reset should do the trick, if you don't want to do that you could re-install the play store.

Hoping to leave that for a last resort. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling too. Think flashing the latest GApps would help?

Can access play.google.com from the phone browser but not the Play Store app.

Yeah id give flashing the latest GApps a try it's certainly worth a shot because that should give you the most up-to-date Play Store and hopefully replace the troublesome one you have right now.
Hi there
I hope someone can help me or give me a pointer. The short story is that Google Play has reverted to the Android Market (v2.3.4) and I can't download anything from the Market.
The longer story is this...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, bought sim-free over a year ago, running Android 2.3.3. Yesterday I had a problem with Google Play not being able to download some apps. This was clearly wrong: I had 1.5GB free of 16GB. In the course of trying to fix this (ha!), and trying to find recovery mode, I borked the device further. Google Play reverted to Android Market v2.3.4, and some apps got messed up in random ways and consistently crashed. I uninstalled some of the crashing apps, but I still cannot download anything from the Market in order to reinstall them.
I've cleared cache and cleared data for various apps and services: Market, Download Manager, Google Play Services (odd that that's still there), Google Services Framework, and maybe some others.
The problem with the Market is that when I touch to download an app it readies itself for the download (moving diagonal lines on the progress bar) and then the progress bar disappears as if it's finished. There is no download, and certainly no install, but no error message either. On the other hand my web-based Google Play account says I've just downloaded it. And meanwhile my web-based Google Play account says there are no devices associated with my account.
Given the situation with Market, I can't even download something like MarketFixer which may help. I can sideload apks, but I can't find a (legitimate-looking) apk like MarketFixer to download.
I've never rooted my device, so I don't expect to have to do that to fix this. Before do a factory reset, does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks
Nik
Update: Solved in thread below
ah darn!! i thought i could help you, up until the point where you said you didn't root . If you rooted then you could just install the latest version of google play

Thanks for even thinking of that, dragid10.
Hmm... theoretically, if I routed, where would I get the latest version of Google Play from? I can't access the Market, after all.
There are a few threads in the apps forum here on XDA one is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932489
I also don't think you need to be rooted to install it. Just make sure you turn on unknown sources from settings(either under applications or security)
Also have you tried uninstalling updates for the market or removing your Google account from your phone and re-adding it.
Edit:Updated thread URL original one was a closed thread.

nsmith4, thank you. That's moved me a bit forward. I couldn't find a Google Play apk, and now I've got Google Play back on my device, and the web version of Google Play knows about my device again.
(I did try to delete my Google account and it refused me. It said it was needed by some applications and should do a factory reset instead!)
So now it seems I'm back to my original problem: I (still) can't download any apps from Google Play because it says (wrongly) there's insufficient space on device. I shall keep looking for an apk of MarketFixer or similar. This problem is now the same as the one reported here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436188
although of course I cannot download MarketFix to help me fix the market.
Update: That install of Google Play didn't stick. When I rebooted the phone it took me through the Android initiation process (asked for Google username and password) and Market was back in place of Play.
Looks like a problem with factory resetting every time you restart. That is a bigger problem. Google Play will automatically update itself (all update to com.android.vending will).
Try taking the ICS update (if you haven't already), you need a fresh install of the OS. Or you can root and install a ROM. Same thing

You say you "borked the device further". The question is, what happened? What did you do, and what got borked, in what way? If you don't even know, then it will be difficult or impossible to repair. The easiest and fastest solution will be to install a fresh ROM, like Gagdude said.

gagdude, post-mortem: No, I didn't keep a careful record of what I did. The "borking" is a combination of the problems listed above. I'm going to do a factory reset and upgrade to ICS, as suggested, thanks. Will keep you posted.
Mid-point update: Successfully factory reset my phone (Volume up + Power on, factory reset, then reboot). Now my SIM card isn't recognised (sigh).
The same problem, but with a different device, is here:

It appears as if my modem software is messed up. The saga continues.
Solved! SIM working again.
...And miraculously it's solved!
I flashed a new ROM onto the device -- ICS, which is very shiny and new to me -- using Odin, and it came back to life perfectly. Useful links were:

Hello I am new to this forum,
I have a Rooted Galaxy S4 Mini, and I had a custom patch of the Play Store installed, but I just hated the icon and didnt notice any difference between the custom patch and the original version of the Play Store so I decided to go back to the original one and uninstalled the Custom one and installed the regular play store and when I did, I opened it and it started loading and showed me the Terms of Service once more but suddenly the little window with the Terms disappeared and the Play Store froze. Soon after it just crashed and a message saying it had stopped appeared. And this just repeats itself everytime I try to open it, It wont even let me tap accept or decline. I tried installing previous versions of the Play store and the same thing happens, tried clearing cache & data and reboot, didnt work, tried clear cache, data, then force stop and reboot and got nothing. tried doing this to Google Play Services, services framework and play store, nothing. I even tried uninstalling updates of Google Play services and all of this steps again. But nothing. And yes, my download manager is enabled. I was so desperate I decided to back everything up with Titanium backup and then I did a factory reset. When it turned on and I configured it, there was no Play Store in my apps. So I manually installed ES File Explorer and Titanium backup to restore my phone and my backup wasnt there unfortunately so I installed Play Store manually too and I got the same error! And now I got to personalize everything again and download all the stuff I had back in so it would be nice to at least get the Play Store working again, please help me!
Sorry for long post please give me some of your time and help me
Thanks
Hi Toby,
Welcome! Unfortunately, you're in the wrong forum. This forum is specifically for the Galaxy S4, Verizon version. If you go back to forums, you can look through the list and find a forum closer to your model.
That being said, I am not sure where this post should go. Maybe a moderator can point that out...
If no one comes to your aid, PM me and I'll send you a link to a Google Play Store zip file to install.
Thanks for your help and sorry about that I am new to this forum
