post number port prob - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
hopefully someone can help witth this.
got my new s3 i9300 from t-mobile and activated it with the new number.
ported my old number to new sim. This went ok but when I go to about phone/status/ my telephone number shows the old number.
This seems to cause problems with some apps so is there a way to correct "my telephone number".
thanks in advance

Hi.
You are in the wrong forum my friend. This is the International Galaxy S III Forum and NOT the T-MOBILE one.

Are you a UK t mobile user?

Have you tried a factory reset?

The phone number as reported by the device is stored on the Sim card and cannot be deleted or replaced on Android phones.
(Afaik some other phones allow it)
Most SIM cards only show "Unknown" since the provider doesn't even set the number.
You can either have it reprogrammed by someone with a corresponding SIMcard reader or phone, or have it replaced by your network provider.

yup

Hi,
I have a completely stock Galaxy s2 on O2-UK and it will not receive texts. I can send them but cannot receive! I do have a case but ive taken it off to see i thats the problem but it is not. Anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks in advance
I would contact o2
Check your Message Centre number under Messaging > Settings. Find out what it should be for your carrier. If it the number is blank in your phone, or doesn't match what it should be for your carrier, fix it.

Change your SMS centre settings.
+447802000332 for Pay Monthly, or
+447802092035 for Pay & Go
Remember to check that the message centre number starts with +44 and not 0044
International settings
Make sure that International barring has been removed from your phone, then just follow these steps:.
Check the message centre settings (making sure the number starts with +44 and not 0044)
+447802000332 for Pay Monthly or
+447802092035 for Pay & Go
The correct pay monthly O2 number was there, i got it to work by going into settings>Wireless and network>Mobile network settings and changing my network operator then putting it to O2 again and my messages came through. But it stopped working AGAIN! And i had to repeat that. Is this a hardware problem?

Hmm Im sure its not a hardware problem. Try going in to the settings & changing the network selection from automatic to manual, try logging on to another network which should say no access eg Orange then log back onto o2. Your texts should start coming soon
some rom had a problem like you.
It is software problem.
I think it is not stock rom for your phone.

unlocked t-mobile

hi s3 owner here in the uk...simple question is i have the quad s3 on the t-mobile network...i cant believe that they havnt locked there phone...
there is no t-mobile start up screen or even t-mobile apps...is there a way to check if it is unlocked apart from trying different sim cards...ie like a code you enter...
sorry for the dumbness of my question....ohh and keep up the good work
Whr r u from?
Got mine from Vodafone, and its branded. Not locked.
Same in T-Mob case, they r just branded. Bootanimation etc is Samsung stock, u should just have some "T-Mob-Special-Apps" in your Appdrawer.
Im Using T-mob Germany Card in my VF-Phone, just choose your Networkprovider under Settings and everthing is fine

is that the right code getting connection problem or invalid mmi code
which firmware it has now?
Mine too (in AUstralia Voda), at first I was on stock firmware and network locked.
I swear I can execute that code, and I even unlock it using voda's official unlock code.
Now I am running CheckRom v3.5 based on BLFB and I get the invalid mmi code.
Someone said need to use stock dialer. But I thought my dialer is stock.

[Q] Indian Rom XXDLJ5 writes secretly SMS to india

Hey folks,
yesterday I flashed the newest rom XXDLJ5 (India).
Everything went just fine.
Now i looked at the connections on my online bill.
I noticed that my phone has written (shortly after flashing the rom) secretly a sms to
this number: +91 9560345888.
Google could only tell me that it is an indian number.
There is no hint on my SGS3 why it has written this sms.
I set this number as spam in my sms app, so i hope this was the last time this happened.
That costs me 0.13€ everytime...
Does anyone have an idea why this happened???
Thanks in advance...
Few people facing same problem but it is for one time only ie for 1 st boot only ....

Every New Official ROM flashed , sends an SMS to a different number as noticed in all my devices after official update.
So thats for one time only where SAMSUNG registers this device of having flashed the official version on their handsets.
This is also introduced in the ICS builds for S2 and Notes too.

Ok thank you so much! Flashed 2 times the LJ5 :/
Not going to touch the India rom anymore. Plus it performs weaker in games than LJ4.
After buying the Indian S3, most operators provide complimentary data packs. I got 3GB for the first two months. So maybe it has something to do with that?

Also the Galaxy Note JB ROM sends SMS
Not only the Galaxy SIII, but also the Galaxy Note N7000 Jelly Bean official Indian (South Asian) ROM sends SMS to the Indian number +919560345888 each time you flash the ROM or perform a factory reset. This has been a mystery! See my post here!
I will NEVER install TW rom on any of my Samsung devices. That really sucks my money 5 months and today I faced this. I have I9301 and loved to flash custom tw roms but my bill increases every month mysteriously for sending sms to this number. Samsung and your little tricks........

[Q] S3 - I9300XXUGML2 - GalaxSim Unlock not working, what to do to have data?

Hello,
I just installed I9300XXUGML2 on my i9300, the problem is that when trying to use GalaxSim unlock it says it is still not supported in this version.
I have the EVR version of the ROM which says it is Everywhere in UK and I am using Giffgaff. I have calls but still no internet even after configuring giffgaff APN options.
In 4.1.2 everything was working correctly, although I know that installing 4.1.2 from 4.3 could create issues.
What do you suggest?

Hi little confused if you are using Giffgaff sim these can only be used in unlocked phones. Why would you need GalaxySim unlock! If you have calls then your phone is unlocked?...

Indeed, that is what I do not understand. I have calls but not Internet and I was thinking it was because galaxsim unlock has not be runned.
I placed the APN giffgaff settings in several ways but nothing seems working. I have the H+ symbol on top but just not having internet....
I really dont know what to do.
Galaxy Sim doesn't work on new 4.3 update but you don't need it anyway you are unlocked if you weren't you would not be able to make calls.I would suggest trying another 4.3 stock rom.

Got it now... Sometimes the most obvious is not evident. I just changed how I paid giffgaff some weeks ago and it did not activate for this month, so I just paid and everything is OK now, thanks for your help.

Trying to unlock but get not registered to network error

Evening all,
I'm trying to unlock a friends SIII, which she been passed down. I believe it was on Orange and is still locked to them (don't know for sure), I've put my Lycamobile sim in and it comes up with sim network unlock PIN I was going to try the free method of typing in *#197328640# but all I get is an error saying not registered to a network.
I've tried using Kies and picked upgraded and initialisation, it did already say it was update but thought I would run it anyway but still no luck. Could anyone offer any advice. looks like its running 4.3.
Advice is go buy an unlock code, nothing else will work.

Ok thanks, I will have a look.
Which model number do you have? Unlock procedure ia different for Qualcomm and Samsung basebands, you can figure out which one you have from the model number.
