Backup contacts onto SD

Hi..
I was wondering if it is possible to save my contact onto my SD card.
I want to save them, before I wipe the Hero to install Modaco's new ROM.
Non of my contacts are google-contacts, so that is not an option.
My Hero is rooted, and I have been playing around in the filesystem, using "File Explorer".. I have come across a file called: "htccontacts.odex"
It is a file in system/app.
It uses 1MB.
I haven't been able to open the file in notepad or wordpad, with readable result.
My question to you, my dear android-lovers, simply is:
Does "htccontacts.odex" contain my contacts, their picture aswell as their facebook-link?
Because that could be an easy way to dbackup contacts..
Maybe to easy??
Regards
Tazimn
i dont know, but what you could do to test it is:
boot in cyanogen mod, and rename the file (with adb shell), then boot and look if your contacts have been gone (afterwards name it back to original name)..
or check whether the size of the file increases when you add some contacts.
Yeah... that could be a way to to it.. and maybe it will.. but I am holding my breath to see, if anyone in this forum knows exactly what the file contains..
Thank you for the idea..

Hide Picures in album

Hello.
i have install program from the SD memory and some of the pictures displayed
in the album.
is there any were to hide the pictures or remove them without getting error on the software.
Thanks in advance
Search the Market for hide photos, I'm sure there are a few options
you can create an empty text file (using notepad), call it ".nomedia" and remove the ".txt" extension.
Place this file where you want pictures/audio to be ignored...
works for me.
I tried to upload a sample file, but for some reason, I can't, but it is pretty straight forward.
Thanks For the Help. but when i copy the txt-nomedia nothing is happening- i can still see the files
Or, rename the folder the pics are in to .(name here)
Android ignores folders that have a (.) as the beginning character
wow it works but the program wont open :/
thanks anyway. i learned something new

Oh well that seems to be a problem. I suggest you email the developer and ask him to put it so that the pics don't show in the gallery. It has a simple fix on his part

Reboot your Hero.
Problem
The problem is that after a few days the files in the directory containing the .noname file are gone. The directory is than empty exept for the .noname file, that still exists.

Where does android store contact photos ?

Hi guys ... Well I want to export all the contact photos Android is currently storing for all my 'Phone' contacts ..
Does anyone know where Android stores all contact photos/images ?
I'm currently running a Sense 3.6 ROM (Virtuous Affinity) on my Desire Z ..
Well I could not find them anywhere on the SD card, but I did find another solution to this, which can work until something better comes along:
1) Download and install Titanium Backup
2) Open Titanium Backup, and create a backup of the Contacts app
3) Open the SD card on your PC, and then open the 'TitaniumBackup' folder
4) Find your backup here .. if its date sorted, find the backup that was created most recently maybe ..
5) Open the TAR file in WinRAR, and then open the 'files' folder inside the TAR file
6) All associated contact images should be here now ..
Please 'Thank' this post if this helped you out

Try This:
1. WhatsApp stores a backup of all conversations in the SD Card. It can be accessed by doing the following:
1. Install a File Manager such as Astro File Manager, on BlueStacks
2. Navigate to sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases/
3. The message history backups are stored here. Click down on the file msgstore.db.crypt,
select Copy from the options that come up. Navigate to
/sdcard/bstfolder/bstSharedFolder/ and paste the file.
4. This file can now be accessed on the PC by navigating to
C:/ProgramData/BlueStacks/UserData/SharedFolder.
2. Now the messages can be accessed by decrypting the databases (this link tells you how)
I Don't Know That Whether It'll Work Or Not. [Do At Your Own Risk. ]
This worked for me
1. Explore your phone files on your PC, search for whatsapp messages in something like this: phone/whatsapp/databases
2. Upload the last created message database you found to your Dropbox or Drive account
3. Install file manager HD in bluestack (This App allows you to copy/delete files from SD and cloud servers/dropbox)
4. Make sure to uninstall whatsapp from bluestack before you do next step
5. In the file manager HD identify the database you upload in dropbox
6. Install whatsapp, before they ask your phone number do the next step
7. In file manager hd move the message file from dropbox to SDcard/whatsapp/databases
8. Put phone in whatsapp and it will ask you to recover messages, accept, and it should work
while updating the bluestacks whatsapp, i changed my profile name and now no old history is available... how to get my old chat history, Please help.
better idea is install file manager make a zip file of watsapp folder and paste it to /sdcard/bstfolder/bstSharedFolder/
find that zip file on your pc from C:/ProgramData/BlueStacks/UserData/SharedFolder and paste it in your phone and extract it to your internal directory and done

The possibility recover information from .asec

Hello.
There was a big trouble, because there are ugly men, perverted a good file manager (in the past, unfortunately...) ES File Explorer.
After i flashing my Fly Magic, as usual, I decided to restore the backups Titanium.
I do not remember why, but I opened file manager and this bastard invited me to clean the "rubbish".
I have not looked, clicked on something and he removed all backups...
Using of the best file recovery program "dmde" - did not help...
But it turned out that before I pulled from the SD-card, along with the garbage, .android_secure folder.
Search the Web showed it just will not work to recover the information from there, because it is encrypted.
A AppsOnSD.sks key, of course, already been overwritten after flashing ...
.asec files are opened by AndroidStudio, but in the form of gibberish.
Question: I'm a complete zero (nuub and dummie) in the programming, though "on you" with IT-sphere.
Strongly request help on the issue of the content of the .asec files WITHOUT "AppsOnSD.sks" key
In fact, I need to get from one app - it is the Old notepad (Ultra Notes app), and that is the russian text. All the rest does not matter.
Thank you in advance.
