When you install a script that check's your device's information (example: ro.product.device), where exactly does it check this?

May I ask why?

Thanks.
Right now I am using cm9-1 on my phone (Korean shw-m440s). But last night I saw a jelly bean ota release for my phone. I flashed the original firmware needed to upgrade which was no problem. But the upgrade kept giving me an error saying my device was wrong. I checked build.prop and everything was good and matching. So I just wanted to make sure that was what it checked. Other Korean users have installed the update so I know the ota works. Now I'm just wondering why it won't upgrade.

I initially had 2.3.3 setup on my I9000M with Virgin in Canada and attempted to root it but without much success - I am able to get to clockworkmod but my internal SD is not mounting to my pc and it's not finding the cyanogen file even though it's on my external sd card - I couldn't put it on internally since it wasn't mounting.
What I would like to do is get back to what I had before - 2.3.3. I've never used Odin before so I was hoping someone could walk me through the process and what files I need?
Thanks
You're in the wrong forum dude...vibrant and I9000M is not the same...i know there is a Canadian Vibrant but is not as T-Mobile Vibrant

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you mean 2.3.3 app to upgrade from 2.3.6....???..please be very specific as to what you need!

I mean a 2.3.3 ".app" which is an automatic installation file. So I can downgrade my phone from 2.3.6
To 2.3.3. By running my phone in installation mode.

OK now it makes some sense however as previously stated you will probably have better luck in i9000 threads. There isn't an official GB ROM for the t959.

I just couldn't find anything talking about a stock gingerbread 2.3.3 install file. And apparently my phone is impossible to root, no fastboot, no clockwork install method. Which is why I need that file.
Sent from my M865C using xda app-developers app
Like I said there is no 2.3.x stock image, however the captivate might have one. I don't know if that will work for you. Plus a stock image from any other phone will have a boot splash of device and possibly carrier.
Good luck

Hello people. Here`s the deal, I`ve got a galaxy ace s5830i, and I`ve rooted it using this method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792. It worked well, and after that I installed CWM, but the thing is that everytime I boot into recovery mode I have the stock recovery, and if I want to use CWM I have to reinstall it everytime from SD.
Did I missed something here or I have to install it every time I wanna use it?
I mention that I have no custom ROM installed, I`m on gingerbread 2.3.6
# 2nd issue. I have updated SuperUser binary, but I don`t know how/or if I should update busybox. I`ve read that some people bricked their phone after installing busybox from android market. My current Busybox version is 1.18.4
# 3rd issue is internal memory. I`ve searched google up & down for this but I wouldn`t wanna partition my SD to use link2sd apps.
I was thinking of a way to repartition the whole internal system, system cache, and data. Anybody know something about this?
Plus, where can I find a list with stock apps that can be deleted & kept, specially for s5830i / gingerbread 2.3.6 ?
Thanks in advance to all those willing to help with an answer.

probably, maybe you should give a bit more detail about your friend's mobile setup and someone maybe able to help
It sounds like you have the same problem is I did; rooted, custom recovery, stock rom. You just need to find a stock recovery (search this forum) and flash it to your mobile. After that you will be able to update OTA. I used the tool from hansson2000 (don't remember the exact name..). Very easy.

I have been a member of xda for a good minute. So, I know not to post questions or ask for help unless you have exhausted all other means. Well, I have exhausted all means. I rooted my boyfriend lg p769 yesterday because I was tired of him complaining about the bloatware on his phone. I was stunned to find out that although it was rooted I could not remove the bloatware. I used root checker to check. So I searched xda and found out that the boot load on those phones is locked. I tried several different methods from the kdz to fastboot. None worked. So, I decided to try one last thing and decided that if it didn't work I would leave his phone alone. I searched google play and found some app that was to install recovery. I installed the app and told it to install clockmod recovery. When the phone cut off and back on it was stuck on the s/w updating screen. I searched xda and tried the support tool update, the guide that says unbrick/unlock bl, have also tried pc suite update and fastboot. Within fast boot it gets stuck on the wait for o...something something device. The update tool stops at downloading firm with an invalid path error. I don't know what else to do. I feel bad because I have my rooted s2 on rom deviant developers working just fine and he has nothing. I know in the past when I have softbricked my phones send it in and the manufacture did a warranty exchange. However, I don't want my boyfriend waiting 2-6wks to get his phone back. I am asking the xda community for any suggestions.
Welcome! You can try using fastboot to flash ICS x and u, then flash T-Mobile 20h using offline method.
After you root, I suggest installing L9Recovery followed by making a backup. If you want less bloat, you can try restoring a custom backup.

I had already tried those. Thanks for your suggestions. We just decided to do a manufacture warranty exchange.

I hate the AT&T Galaxy Express i437 and I can't update the android version (currently on 4.1.2) because AT&T requires WiFi for the update. I also can't find a working root so that is not an option. Is there any way to update to a new version without rooting or WiFi? Thanks
You can't update your device if you have a rooted phone... if you try to update it it will say
1) the device is updated
Or 2) you can't update the device because it has been modified...
Usually the update is of many Megabytes (or Gigabites) and if you don't do it on wi fi it will take ages
