I just now unlocked bootloader & now i want kernel with following features
1.Root
2.CWM
Every custom boot image has these
1. get custom kernel <--- you automatically got CWM
2. get custom firmware (ROM) <--- superuser included, usually pre-rooted

you don't understand dude... root is ROM related, not kernel. so stop struggling or i'll laugh at you switching kernel for the sake of root!!!
i guess mayb this will help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849802
cos the ROM dont hav the files needed for it to be ROOTed.

as i said before, custom kernel doesnt bring you root, it just gives you CWM. to get root, you need to install custom ROM (coz custom ROM usually pre-rooted) or install root manually if you wanna stick to stock ROM. to install root manually, search this forum around.

What he is looking for probably call insecure boot image. There are basically 2 different ways to give root, 1) insecure boot image 2) su binary
1) Insecure boot image basically give root access to anything, which is why many rom developers do not use since AVERAGE user who dont understand a thing about their phone, this will bring lots lots of trouble
If you want this, compile it urself. Use google
2) SU binary basically manage the root privilege to be given to certain command or apps which u usually encounter.
Use custom rom or root it urself if you want to use stock rom. If you want stock with pre-rooted, put the su binary urself here or find some stock rom with pre-root

I have the stock kernel without root. And I buy my st15 since a week and I have a question because I'm confused.. When I flash a kernel that says " root and cwm" it mean that I have root permission to flash rooms? I don't need more?
Ahh.. Other question. With the rooted kernel in my phone I only need install the superuser to use apps that requires root access?
Excuse me for my bad English.. And thanks for your answers!
Since you are using stock kernel, u can use zergrush method to root.
but if u want to flash custom roms, u need to flash custom kernel. Almost all custom kernels are pre rooted and have clockwork mod. u need to unlock your bootloader to flash custom kernels.
the superuser app get installed by default when rooted.

ok. but my question is: I only need the bl unlocked and a kernel with cwm and root to flash a Rom? ( exactly the fxp cm9!)
You need to understand a couple of things about ROMs and Kernels.
Unlocked bootloader, lets your device get into "bootloader mode", giving you the privilege to install a custom made Kernel. Some kernels (most) come prerooted, which means that no matter what Rom you install, whether it is stock, or custom or whatnot.
Root gives you the ability to read, write, and execute apps and files that are in the /system folder.
Think of it as layers of a cake. Bootloader -> Kernel -> Rom -> Root

Not only /system folder, but everything else also, that is in / folder, that is the root folder. You get access to the root folder, folder before system.
thanks a lot! I go to do these steps with the fxp kernel for cm9!

Its easy bro you do not need to downgrade as your phones bootloader is unlocked
just flash the custom kernel with flashtool almost all custom kernel are per rooted:laugh:
Search for flashtool and custom kernel compatible with stock ICS
I suggest you Extended stock kernel it great.:good:
You can search in development section

OK. After I install a custom kernel what do I have to do? Install busy and superuser? How can I go back to stock kernel? IF I go back to stock kernel, will I lose my root?

Superuser is installed automatically, busybox not, you need to install it from Play Store by yourself.
You can install stock kernel with Flashtool, just pick regular .ftf file, but only choose kernel to be installed. You will keep root.
Just a question
If I flashed a custom kernel on stock Rom
will I gain root
or do I have to root first then Install a custom kernel
Now I'm on UnRooted Stock 4.1.B.0.431 FrimWare and UnLocked BootLoader
SK17i
I Intend to Flash one of this kernels
Rage ,KrSH ,MESA ,Extended Stock
Thanks

All the four custom kernels you mentioned above are pre-rooted with pre-installed CWM

I just want to know whether custom kernel will make me gain root with out the need to push stuff like SuperUser and BusyBox to phone

As For Downgrading it's not Needed to downgrade the hole rom
just flash an older stock kernel ,root it then flash the default kernel

Okay. then, do this.
Choose any ROM you like.
Flash via Flashtools base firmware(If you choose a GB rom then Flash any Gingerbread Stock Firmware, if you choose an ICS then flash any ICS Stock Firm..)
Flash any compatible kernel
Turn your phone on and enter cwm Recovery
Flash te ROM and do all wipes that ROM requires(its on OP of the ROM you 've selected)
Reboot and hope it works well!
Hope this can solve your problem

FYI : if you already unlock the bootloader, you don't have to root it anymore....just flash any custom kernel into your phone...all custom kernel is pre-rooted and have CWM be default....
flash any custom kernel first, then you can install any custom roms or official roms with losing your root....

No you can't install a custom ROM without root access...
First root your phone and then flash the custom ROM
PS- instead of downgrading to GB...
You can flash a pre rooted Kernel via flashtool to ROOT your phone...
It will automatically install the recovery too...
For more details about flashing Kernel look in the guides in stickies section
