Don't take this the wrong way, but this is EASY info to find. It was also asked in a nearly identical thread a day or 2 ago.
I've done many many searches for the info but it's all peacemeal. I can't figure out what's rooted info and what is fully stock. Basically what I want to know is what does it say for those items on a fully stock fresh out of the box Thunderbolt.

That completely depends on what OTA it's got. It should have OTA 1.70, and if that's the case, this thread has everything you need to know. Took about 30 seconds to find.
TY for the info. I was only doing Google searches and neglected to try search on XDA. I appreciate your patience.

Hey guys,
I flashed the kernel but I am not well versed with adb to flash the kernel modules - could someone guide me? I am specifically looking forward for the NTFS and controller support.
Thanks a lot guys.

I hate to reply without an answer but I dont know. I have seen people ask him and he says instructions are in the post, but they are over my head. I've never asked for clarification because I assume the idea is that "if you can't understand my instructions, then you shouldn't be doing it".
? And I dont want to pester the guy who's worked his arse off to give the community a rockin kernel

Exactly the same thing happened with me :/ ! I really want the NTFS and XBOX 360 controller capability !
I have no idea what to do with those adb codes I wish there was something noob proof !
Hi,
I use the following quick method. Using Root Explorer (or something similar) and the Terminal app from the Market, move the .ko files to /data/local/modules and then in Terminal issue the following commands:
su
insmod /data/local/modules/xxxx.ko
where xxxx is what .ko module you've chosen and repeat the insmod for each module.
That should be it.
Cheers,
morkli

Exactly this. Also, I can't remember for sure, but you may need to repeat the Terminal commands each time you reboot. I don't think so though.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I thought it made more sense than posting a new one. I'm trying to install the module for PS3 controller. Does anyone know which one it is? For that matter, is there any list that explains what all of the modules Pershoot made available are?
Thanks!

You'll be wanting lib\modules\2.6.36.4-cyanogenmod+\kernel\drivers\hid\hid-sony.ko
I like to understand the other files too...

I asked this question too here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303384
But I am new and not sure my question was understood... don't need help with the actual installation... just want to understand the list of modules...looks like 4 being described in the change log...but there are about 16 .ko files... not exactly a 1 21 relationship, so I assume the other files don't even work (work in progress maybe) as there no mention of their extra functionality. For example, I extract lib-2.6.36.4/lib/modules and there is a dhd.ko file at the root of the directory. I have no idea what its for, nor any of the files in at the root of /2.6.36.4-cyanogenmod+. Those are not .ko files. Is one of them perhaps a Unix file type that is equivalent to a man page or a read me file that I can open and discusses the use of the content in /kernel? If I don't need to know what these are, and they are not to be moved to the tab for installation....why include them at all? Why not just zip up the 4/5 .ko files? My curiosity is going to get me cussed out.....lol. I've read the general and Q&A forums from the last 60 days and not found a lot on this... not much in the dev forums either besides the instructions on how to install a module file (.ko) Thanks gang!

I'm going to be brutally honest, and say the best person to ask is the packager, AKA pershoot. Personally, the majority of what I've needed out of the .tar.gz has been pretty self-explanatory - the stuff that isn't obvious I've left alone and not had any difficulties.
Curiousity in these situations is definitely a good thing, and not to be frowned upon on a developer's forum; but I think the only person who can answer the exact whys and wherefores is pershoot. in this case.
Thanks friend, I've got 22 years in IT as sys admin/service delivery co-ordinator/infrastructure owner, and those are just the checks that go into the boxes. I could not "load this into production" with the info provided for the change. I can't post in pershoot forum yet... so I thought Q &A might do the trick, but couple more posts and I'll will take your advice.
I don't know how well you know your way around Android, but answering a couple of questions if you can is a good way to get enough to ask in the dev forum whilst helping others.
pershoot is on the droid-basement blog which might have a email address if getting a direct response is really important to your deployment strategy. With your years of experience, I'm not advocating such a outright tactic, but he is pretty forthcoming as far as I've seen. Otherwise, helping and waiting out to get on the dev forum will be your best bet.

Hi, I have searched for an answer and haven't had any luck. I know that the latest S-Voice App supposedly can't be installed on something other than a device running ICS. Found Here: http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s-ii/
However, I can't seem to get it to work. It keeps giving me an error: There is a problem parsing the package.
I'm guessing I can't install it because I'm not running ICS. Can anyone confirm this? as it has been mentioned, that it does work. Found Here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/samsung-s-voice-ripped-for-the-world-to-enjoy/

I'm still waiting for ICS to come out for T-Mobile...I have not Rooted my Device yet, don't really plan on it yet, but am considering it in the far future...lol

OP, you realize that as a T-mobile USA user, who owns an SGH-T989, you are actually in the wrong forum for your device, right? (I've also noticed you've posted in the Epic 4G Touch forums as well...)
I've already tried to tell you once that you're posting in the wrong forums. I guess it's up to you to realize what you're doing.
I'm not saying it as a matter of you're not allowed to post here, but if you request ports, mods, firmwares or kernels, and you post in a device forum that ISN'T yours, people will link you to solutions that will NOT work for your phone, and in all likelihood cause you no shortage of headaches if you decide to follow their instructions or install stuff they link you to.
Your device (SGH-T989) has VERY different hardware from the GT-I9100 and the Epic 4G Touch (SPH-D710).
But it's up if you want to continue to post in other device forums.

Well, the reason it won't work for you is because the app only works on ICS, apparently. Not because of your device. (That link is to a post in the HTC Sensation forum)

Hey guys,
After doing a bit of research, I'm having some troubles. I would like to learn how to theme, but most of the guides and stuff that I come upon are pretty old (1-2 years), and I'm afraid they would be out of date.
Does anyone have any good, current sources where I can learn the ins-and-outs of theming?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is the last I know Diamondback says it will be about 2 weeks for him to release the update for the decompiler but there is not a specific date but the good news is that soon we will have something to work with.
When I look at the ultimate guide to theming, which I have a couple of times, the first thing it mentions is stericsons apk signer. However, when I go to that thread he says that you can't sign apk's with windows 7. Is that true? If so, how do I work around it?

I am not sure what guide you are referring to, but I know it works on Vista and XP and I believe I have gotten to sign on W7 but not sure I rearly use that for themeing. I have used apktools and apktools manager so I have not tried stericsons signer.
First of all, I am not sure that this is the right place to post, but I am new here so please move the topic if it is not the right place.
Secondly, English is not my native language so excuse any mistake I can make.
Thirdly, I am not an Android pro so I may use words for others, I hope you'll understand what I mean.
So, I was a bit stupid yesterday and followed a tutorial to root my Galaxy Player 5.8, tutorial that didn't apply to the Galaxy Player 5.8. Now, It is stuck on a screen showing a yellow triangle and an icon that surely means "connect the device to the PC". I can still use Odin. But What should I use Odin for ? Is there some working ROM or something somewhere that I can get on my device ? Even if that ROM is not rooted, I'd still like to be able to boot my Android instead of being stuck at that screen.
Thanks for reading and thanks for any help provided.
edit Nevermind, found what I wanted here: http://www.gsmkhmer.com/index.php?topic=8496.0 (remove spaces to get the link, I can't post links until 10 posts)

I can't really tell, I never owned a 5.0
In fact this device is my first Android device, so of course I am really amazed by everything it does, even more now that it is rooted
It is rather big but I was used to carry calculators in my pockets so it fits pretty well
The only downside of the big screen is that if you only have one hand available, your thumb can't get everywhere on the screen
Other than that it is great

It is legal to attach it. But you can't because the file is too large. You can upload it somewhere like dropbox or google drive and post the link here with spaces in the link so all we have to do is get rid of the spaces.
As for 4.2, its probably the same story as every other galaxy player. Samsung doesnt want release it so we have to make it. Might have to do the same if you want it

Indeed, I know nothing about computers and Android devices, I only interested myself to calculators until my parents accepted to buy me an Android
So yeah, I think I won't manage.
I am running Android 4.0.4, but I heard (or read) that 4.2 supports launching multi apps (don't know if that sentence makes sense, sorry, I am not a natvie English speaker) so I was very interested in that
