Does Microsoft support the phone? CPU, chipset, drivers? If yes then you can.

No, because windows is closed source and xp/7 even has no arm support, but you can run linux (I.e. ubuntu on it).

I'm a passer-by... Just ignore me..
No madness. Even I did Google few months earlier. The answer is big no because MS Os is a closed source. If it wasn't xda developers would be the first hunter.

I wish I could experience the wp7 or wp8 in this beast. Simply for fun.those animation effects and all really eye appealing. HTC hd2 able to run both. But it's a wp phone. Hope someday someone brings a port!! Though hopes not much up!!

Hi,
as hardware are really similar, you guys think it is allowed to install a HTC One X rom on the XS ?
Cheers
Not similar at all so no.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
LOLing at the OP.
The OneX is a QUAD CORE and the XS is a dual core just for starters. All the hardware is completely different. Had a few joints before you came on XDA did you?
And what !
PC have many different hardware configs, but all can run i.e. Windows

No trouble at all. It will install and run just fine. Just make sure you use the right installation discs and serial number and don't forget that you can always phone Apple for support if need be.
ARM hardware does not, like x86-hardware, provide software compatibility (uniform hardware abstraction) across platforms.
Furthermore Apple uses a completely different ARM architecture (ARM A15 if I'm not mistaken) while Samsung bases on the ARM A9, it being an extension of the ARM A7.
Unless you can compile from source and manually build the necessary drivers, you won't get it to work. (Windows Mobile neither)
Note that Apple does not even use Linux-based systems but BSD-based (Darwin), so yeah...
The only trouble i can think of you having is actually having ios on a sgs3!!! For reaaaallllllll?

Apple wil sue you for 2.5 billion dollars.
Prison time, cause you somehow stole the IOS source code from Cupertino.

Is there any method to dual boot android and wp7?? The animations are so cool and stuff in wp7. Is there any method known? I know in HTC hd2 it's possible. Other than that, in gs3 ??

No and it won't I guess.
At hd2 it has been possible, because it is a wp and the devs could port android, because it is open source.
The other way round is much harder.
And sry but for my opinion wp7 is crap compared to android, even when you compare it to good old gb and I guess most people here share my opinion (no offence in any way, I only want to point out that I don't think any developer is working or will work on it).

I never said wp7 is better. I'm quite intrigued by wp8. I just thought if there are ports for wp7 then, we can expect wp8also right? That's all. I know that android is the best now..

I prefer android, best is something depending on opinions and use.
Even when there would be a wp7 port, wp8 is completely different and would need the whole thing ported from scratch.
And like already said, because wp is closed source it will be really hard to get it to work, I would recommend to not expect a working port for the gs3.

Has anyone tried using the install instructions as a guide for installing Ubuntu on the nexus 10? If so, how much work will it take to get a bootable Ubuntu on our device? Ubuntu definitely supports our CPU, as it is on a Samsung chromebook that has the same processor. Sorry to junk up the forums, but I'd really like some info on the possibility of this happening.
EDIT: they also share the same quad core GPU. I really don't see why Ubuntu won't run on this out of the box...

I believe there are a few devs looking into it at the moment. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012294
I've seen this. It seems no one has updated in a while, so I was assuming it was forgotten.
I was also thinking maybe chrubuntu would be the logical place to start, because that is an alpha that is working already on the chromebook.

Before asking a question check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086396
Ask any questions about Ubuntu for phones here! Please don't ask twice and Quote the question you are answering.
Note: do not ask if your device can run, boot, etc . Ubuntu. If you are curious whether you can get it on your device please post it in either the general or questions and answers section of your device. But before you post there please search and see if it has already of been asked. Thanks.
If you are still wondering if this is on your device please contact a developer when it is released to port it to your device.
I have Htc Desire, it will be possible to run Ubuntu on my sweet phone? Or it is possible only for new phones? What is a must have for system? CPU, Ram, storage. Thx for answer.

What's the actual point of having another linux distribution on your phone? Shouldn't it be the same (I'm not talking about few additional features that might be somewhat useful)?

Is like why some ppl prefer Linux Mint or Ubuntu or even Debian if all come from the same way? It's just matter of tastes.
What do I need to do to boot this bad boy on my jewel?
(Will you be copying all the questions and answers and adding them to the first post? )
Will dev devices be available? Will steam be officially supported for mobile?
What I'm curious about is will this support ext3/ext4 filesystems? Support for links?
Also, will there be a repo? Ability to install the gcc toolchain?
I'm curious on how unlock security. Like having a password to unlock or something like that. What would it look like on this OS? Another question I have is what are the keyboard's features?

no you can not install ubuntu on htc desire
the minimum requirements are
1ghz dual core cpu
1gb ram
wvga screen
Can we install it which devices we want, like Ubuntu for PC? Or must developers customize it for all devices like Android?
What is Ubuntu for Phones' minimum system requirements?
And there will be a new release every 6 months like Ubuntu for PC?

Will it support (in the future) the Android app ecosystem?
I really hope so because people like me already purchased a lot of app and I need them (and won't buy them again).
What do you think?
Is this Q&A just aimed at the community or will it have some "official" answers ? If so what mobile networks will be used in the UK on release ?
Dual booting a possibility on the Nexus ?
Secure market for purchasing apps /devices?
Apart from the Nexus , What other devices are you hoping to introduce this year for us to play with ?
How easy/hard will it be to port ROMS to another other device ?
What will you offer us ( apart from a new OS to play with) that's going to steal market share from Android ?
What plans do you have for future updates to the OS ,will it become as fragmented as Android ? Will you push carriers to update ROMs or will it be down to XDA to do this
Will you make it easy for us to do our thing or will you lock the devices down (not that it will stop XDA lol)
If any of you are interested in getting Canonicals attention for us, the XDA Family being able to beta for them, here is a petition I started at change.org! It won't hurt to sign it guys, might as well try!
