Hey there everyone. So, I'm wanting to make this wallpaper. I can see it in my head, but I don't have enough experience in Photoshop or GIMP to make it come to life yet. I've been playing around with GIMP, but have only had it for a couple of days. I've done some reading and messed around with it a bit, but without some serious help present, this is just outside my expertise. I want to combine these three things -
1) Gothamesque Cityscape: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4691870612/
Scaled to 640 x 480 (I can do this part, it's easy...)
2) GOTHAM Banner:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4691238235/
Scaled to 640 x 80(the 640 is a must, but the 80 is open to your judgement)
I can do this part too, but blending is not part of my skill set yet.
3)Hoping to get a Bat Symbol, or Signal on the "O" for GOTHAM. I don't really have as much preference on this part, as long as it fits the color scheme.
The lights that are beaming from the city to the sky hits the "O" pretty much in the middle. Was hoping to use that idea to illuminate the symbol that is going to be covering the "O" for a bat signal type theme.
Here is a super rough draft idea of steps 1 & 2 so you can kind of get a feel of where I want to go-
http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4691909852/
So, that's it. Anyone willing to help a brother out? You'll receive my eternal gratitude and/or I'd be willing to make you a custom boot animation in return(providing it's from a video - that's all I have experience with at the moment). Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!
Here ya go, let me know if it sucks. I just threw it together, if you need anything changed feel free to ask
Awww man, that is like 95% of the way to what I was looking for! If I had to be nitpicky, I would just like the symbol to cover that hint of black on the left of it and was thinking of maybe adding a bit of glow to it? I know in GIMP they call it Alien Glow, or maybe just making it look a bit more like the light from underneath is why that part is brighter than the rest of the letters. I hope that makes sense? I really like how you integrated the Gotham in the sky - keeping the same colors but it's still visible. Very appreciative, I am. I'm in the middle of posting my Batman boot animation (with a preview) on the Gallery thread. Check it out!
this should be better, let me know.
Looks great man! Thank you so much Going on my phone now, with my new Batman boot screen and animation. I gonna play around and make some icons soon. I think I should be able to handle doing those. I can handle cropping, scaling, rendering kind of things, just not blending and lighting effects yet. Thanks again!
Just giving it a shot.
Nice work Now, if I could just combine the best of both worlds there...lol I like the GOTHAM better on the first one and the Bat symbol better on the other. No offense to either of you, of course. Unfortunately though, it doesn't look as good on my phone as it does on the computer. This is entirely my fault as I wasn't factoring in how it lays stretched out by the launcher and you don't see enough of it's glory on my home screen. I definitely am going to use it for a wallpaper on my regular PC though! Now, I'm playing around with the idea of just a Bat symbol (the newer one from the films that is just the bat itself - not the oval) in the middle of the sky, half way between the skyline and the top. This blended in a bit with the transparent clock widget looks cool because then it's modern gothic looking Bat clock. Thanks for your efforts though, they will be put to good use, some how
Hi,
My new motorola atrix is verry good but I think the yellow is very bad on this phone.
For example the 2nd "o" of google or wood on angry birds is unrealistic, dark, dull...
Am I alone in thinking this ?
The problem can be solved by an official rom or other modification ?
Thank you.
Looks OK to me?
Compared next to my N900 (of which I think has an amazing screen too)
I'm getting used to colour change after a AMOLED, for me it feels like the screen has been through a blue rinse.

You might try a higher brightness level.

Yeah I agree, all the yellows look a little green to me. When I got this bad boy I got Fruit Ninja on it and some of the fruits looked very unripe lol
Yellows are dull and washed out on the Pentile display. period. it's something we all have to live with (and most have), however those who try and say it doesn't exist are just lying to themselves. Highest brightness makes it a little more vivid, but nowhere near a normal LCD display.
You don't notice after using it for a while, I am willing to make the trade off for the bump in resolution.
When you go to another display you quickly remember what its supposed to look like though.

Have to say my screen is better than my desire and nexus in direct sun light, and with polarized sunglasses on. So there are bonus'.
Only ones better are sensation and iphone4 with a higher ppi.

Yes, you are right, the colors may vary between different screens but I tried acer liquid, nintendo ds, dingoo, my lcd computer and tv screens and for me the atrix has stranges colors.
Fortunately I am not alone in thinking this
Pity there is no application to change the hue
off colors...
I found the colors were off too so I played with the setting a bit... by placing the battery mode in performance mode it seemed to fix the problem. let me know if it fixes it for you.
Oh thank you !
When I could use my phone, I would try this solution

uh, that would not affect the screen colors at all.
Hello all,
Just got my Lumia 800 and it's awesome. However, I've noticed a little problem where the "white" on the screen distorts a bit.
If you go into the Office App, next to the big title font ("Notes", "Documents", "Locations") and slowly slide the screen or scroll the body text. I'm noticing that the white adjacent to the title font distorts a little bit. I'll shoot a video later, but this appears to happen whenever there is a white background.
Does anyone have something similar?
Thanks in advance

When i first read this post I was skeptical, but then I checked and realized you're right...that's some weird stuff, it may have something to do with the pentile amoled, my gf's 710 (LCD) doesn't seem to do that.
It is indeed inherent to the screen type, my Nexus One did exactly the same, as does the Desire I have here.
Yep, looking at it closely you can actually see some very faint rainbow coloured lines on the sides of the text when it's displayed on a white background. This happens pretty much everywhere, even inside the xda app I'm using right now...
Yeah I guess if we're all having it, it's probably normal. Not ideal, but at least other aspects of the phone makes up for it
It's a little odd because it's not isolated to one part of the screen. It actually moves with the text.
It's normal behaviour and nothing to worry about. Amoled screens works like plasma TV's and it comes with its side effects such as "line bleeding" from text and other stuff.
Same thing Its irritates me very much. I wouldn't buy 800 if knew it. I bet that 900 won't suffer from the distortion

Heh, at times I wish I bought the Titan: big LCD screen highly enjoyable for games and vids, less artifacts compared to a pentile AMOLED, better battery life, removable battery and possibility of putting on an extended unit. What actually pushed me miles away from it is how big and stupid things looked on an oversized 480x800 display: at the end of the day you don't see more text on the screen, you just see it BIGGER, it looks like a phone for visually impaired people

It probably won't. The 900 has an AMOLED screen but it doesn't use a pentile matrix. The 800 has a slightly older AMOLED screen with one.
Samsung's Android devices have the same problem, Galaxy S - AMOLED pentile matrix. Galaxy S II - Super AMOLED no pentile.
Just wondering if everyone elses LTE is set at a warm color, orange'ish whites
compared to the evo 4g which is cool with blue'ish whites
possible to ever change this?

My brothers has cool whites and I have warm whites...yet our panels are both Sony...so I don't get it.
mine is also a warm-toned screen, nonetheless it looks great
I posted about this yesterday but it already got buried. Unfortunately you can either hassle with taking it back and hoping for a more blueish white panel or you can get used to it. I hated the look when i unboxed, I have the same yellowish tint on white. But im already used to it for the most part. There is an app on the play store called "Screen adjuster" that you can add some blue back in but its not perfect and it has to run in the background i haven't tested to see how much of a load it puts on the phone if left on all day. Also a good app to use to visually inspect the colors your panel is showing is "dead pixel test". So software can be used to help the tint, but as far as a permanent solution, I believe that would be up to HTC. Maybe some devs can do it eventually once we have s-off.
I've just starting to really notice this, and its driving me nuts.
The whites are not white at all, they are more yellowish eggshell (or as I like to call it 'light puke'). You can really notice it when your in natural light. I held it up to something pure white and you can see an epic difference.
Does this not bother anybody else? I forget, but don't some ROMs (for other phones) have options to change screen tones? Is this something that I can look forward to ? Or perhaps my eyes (and mind) are just playing tricks on me.
I dislike 'warm' tones a lot. I wish I gotten a 'cool' tone phone instead, I can handle the blue tone a lot better.
I wonder why this is I mean it isnt like amoled n the screens should be.the.same.... Maybe dim lights inside?
Root it and try chainfire 3d, it has the option to change screen tone in I believe the pro version. Added bonus, works with all roms to my knowledge. I haven't tried it yet myself as I'm completely happy with the tone on mine, but I used it on the og evo for a long time.

Thanks, I'll give it a try since I'm already rooted. I messed around with 'screen adjuster' and 'filer your screen' and neither seemed to do the trick.
EDIT: Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer to play with chainfire 3d. Requires S-off (or probably just unlock bootloader). Only have root. But chainfire looks promising.
This was a problem on the One X for AT&T but most of them cleared up after a week or so. My advice would be to keep the brightness up for a while when using it.

We have two EVO LTE and one of ours is much cooler and blue and the other is much warmer. How do you check if the display type to see if they are different?
My screen is warm also. At first I thought it was the ZAGG HD screen protector that was causing that yellowish tint, but after I removed it, it was still there.
If anyone with two EVO LTE phones can post a side-by-side picture of the warm and cool screens, I'd greatly appreciate it.
TIA
Here is a picture. Its not the best quality so it might be hard to tell a difference. The difference is much more apparent in real life.
Supposedly its due to the adhesive. There is a thread about it in the HOX forum. My screen seems to be whiter than it was a week ago but that may be a placebo effect- I need to do another side by side comparison with my iPhone to tell.

I was dreading a problem like this. I can deal with blacks not being black (have to deal with it with the very nature of LCD) but whites... Yeah, they need to be white.
Here's to hoping my device doesn't have this issue. I will update this post with news.
get an app called screen adjuster
then increase the blue a little bit, to about 15 or so
woooooorks wonderss!!!
On my NS4G, there was a kernel mod developed by SuperCurio that allowed you to adjust gamma levels. I always ran my phone with very cool blue whites.
Maybe something like that would be possible for the Evo?
I think I have the warmer screen color. Things like this doesn't bother me at all. I've seen thread like this everytime a new phone comes out. After a few week your eyes and OCD levels will adjust.

You can def tell the one on the right is the warm though. I'm sure in direct natural light the difference is huge.

I'm hoping this is the case. Its weird because I think it changes. Like after it goes in direct natural light it gets really bad.

Same. I can deal with the black but not the whites. Whites need to be crisp and clean not yellow. I repainted all the eggshell whites in my house to pure white. To me it takes away the crispness of the screen.

Man you hit the nail right on the nail. I had mine set at 14 for the past three days. It helps but it still isn't ideal. Plus its consuming resources.
dont think its an adhesive bonding process still "curing"
i think the color temp is permanent.
hopefully a dev will allow color temp change because its a little awkward staring at my pc monitor, then looking at the phone's brown and yellow drab lcd tint.

This is what I am praying for. But enough people have to be annoyed by it for somebody to do something.
The best test is to open the settings menu (Evo white) and compare it against a piece of notebook paper (real white). Its gross.
If you have a screen shots of something to do with your nabi 2
Post it here .
Othere might like what you did and want to know about it .
ok so here are some of my screen shots
Everyone has seen mine but
My blur on the Pokemon slider circle of the oshewat or whatever he's called, my son isn't around to ask, looked better in GIMP then it does on Nabi screen, too obvious aliasing on it. Hello Kitty one turned out nice though.
You should be doing some Nabi themes for us
i Rember those they look cool. i remeber when i first came on the forum
i was looking for acer A500 and saw some of the things people were doing
I was like you can do stuff like that to the tablet? *SWEET*
this my boot up screen ...lol its a bit cheezy but grew on me
I did some tinkering with a few apps and came up with this
I'm pretty sure I can do the same thing on nabi 2 and the jr
or any other tablet
http://youtu.be/aDwp38wvf8k
http://youtu.be/a_nDabvzUlg
this is my nabi2 now .
Haven't seen this thread up in a while.....
Here is mine modded with even the keyboard as well ( not shown ). I like the RED/clear/smoke theme. Still working on getting a nice icon theme or complete theme for the tablet.
This one is my screen on my way home from work at night. My dash and Stereo light up red at night so I have my Nabi2 doing the same. I use Bluetooth for music to my Stereo from my Nabi2 as to why I have a Graphic EQ going on. My Stereo has a smaller EQ going on as well.........
DarkAngel those pics look hot. thanks for sharing .
If you ever have time could you show a small video of how you use it in the car?

I like your Nabi bootloader. Something I have been wanting to modify on my Nabi. I have been trying different ones for now but have yet to make my own.
I can show you what I use to mount it with, no modification to the nabi2 at all. It was just pure luck that I tried the mount I had purchased. The back part of the Nabi2, where the KINABI letters go have several rows of which the KINABI squares grip to and have an edge to them all, a ledge I guess one can call it.
The mount I used uses an attachment from which it mounts the universal tablet holder. After looking at it for a bit I just slid the mount attachment hooks through the KINABI tabs and to my surprise it gripped the tabs surprisingly tight. ( you will not be needing the telescoping/expanding grip tablet holder, just the mount ).
We all know how the back looks like.....
This is what grips those tabs like hooks gripping tight.....
I bought the one ( made to attach to the headrest posts ) with the dual swivel joints off ebay. There are many although I don't know if they are made exactly the same from the tab/hooks to attach the Nabi2. I tried looking for the one I bought and I can not find it in my history at all.
I will get installed pics as soon as I can including a video. I use a Pioneer DEH-X6500BT. I love using PowerAmp on my tablet and other devices as I have full access on controlling the music thru my Stereo's controller including video as well using Rock Player2. Now I could hook the Audio 3.5 out to the Audio 3.5 in on my Stereo but I only do that when I run the Torque App via Bluetooth to monitor things on my car but then I loose controllability through the Stereo but I use another Bluetooth Game controller when I have to for that.
Sorry I never updated.......
Video may be NSFW ( NOT SAFE FOR WORK ) ..... or for your childrens ears as there was some profanity.....
( Big Pun - Not A Player )
Here is the short video. Mind the music and the wording on the screen. It was playing at the time when I had left the car and I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics and screen wording until I finished it.

No Problem, your welcome. There has been more tweeks here and there with the color on making more things RED on the screen but for now I have it how I like it. Using Next Launcher as well and so far I like it.
Limited Edition Black Nabi2 !!!!!
LOL JK....
Decided I didn't want it white like everyone else's and wanted something one off. Although there will be a Nabi S that will come in Blue, Pink, Green and Gold mine is Flat Black. I also removed, shaved, and smoothed over the small holes where the red Nabi circles on each corner go. Just a simple looking Nabi2 tablet. Retained the rear KINABI holders as I use it to hold my tablet on my car.
haha looks cool
Did you have to use a special paint?
to make it tough do u need to add a clear coat?
did u have to take it apart to paint it?

Thanks. You can use any paint you want really. I happened to have flat black and flat clear coat. I did use grey primer, also to help fill in the small scratches and pits left from filling in the holes. Was very careful not to over spray right between the screen edge. I did take the Nabi2 completely apart to paint it. Only part I could not remove was the screen from the plastic, it's on good. I taped up the screen with blue painters tape and carefully with a sharp utility knife I cut right in the groove at the edge of the screen. The knife followed the groove perfectly. Here are some pictures.
nothing as fancy as what has been posted before..

Lock Screens look good. One of the favorite movies out right now my daughters love. Zedge App has a lot of Ring and Notification tones that will go good with the theme and are free if you have not done so already.
