- Reflash your phone with current firmware using Sony Update Service
- Copy the blobs Update Service caches from the update to local directory
- Use Flashtool to decrypt and recreate the tft from the blobs
- Unzip the ftf and unpack the boot image together with to kernel
- Edit /default.prop and set ro.secure=0
- Repack the root initramfs file system
- Create a new boot image with the root filesystem and the kernel
- Unlock the boot loader
- fastboot the new image (no need to flash it)
- "adb shell" to the phone, you are now the root user
- remount /system read-write
- add busybox, su and whatever you like
Check www.youtube.com/watch?v=bB77gWRUI_A for details about getting your original image.
See http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/2011/05/06/how-to-build-a-linux-kernel/ about building the boot image.

Ah, strange. Update Service is supposed to reinstall the same version already installed. Maybe Sony not yet updated their servers.
Still I believe you can work around this. The nice thing about Sony Xperia is that when you unlock its bootloader, you can boot your phone over usb using fastboot without having to flash the image. I.e. a single one-time-boot of your image, without any permanent modifications of your phone.
This means you can always try booting another boot image than the original. It don't have to work perfect, just brining the devices up so you can access it via usb and "adb shell". It need to use the same disk devices (mount right partition at right mount point), so try using a image from another Xperia and hope for the best. You can check the mount points using the command "mount" in the shell, compare with the mount points of some other Xperia you can get the ROMs to.
So download a Xperia ROM from XDA, edit ro.secure=0, recompile the boot image again and try fastboot the phone (do not flash it!). If it boots, don't care if everything things isn't working properly, just transfer su and busybox to /system/bin and then halt and restart the phone - this time from the internal flash (= original image), and you got the phone using its original image, but with the su and busybox you need to become root.
Again - do not flash your image, only boot the phone with it. If you flash it, and don't got the original image to restore back, your phone is bricked.
Problem solved.
I have downloaded firmware from Sony ...link will be soon ... but i have problem with rooting system, Please, can somebody help me with them?
I hope we can root woth out unlock bootloader.....

Myself I actually prefer the official way instead of hacks I don't know what side effects they may or may not have, but that's me. I'm sure it's possible using some exploit, but I can't help you there, sorry.
Hi guys,
I created ftf from blobs and unzip ftf.
I used Nero Young guide to make custom rom (kernel), but when I need to add boot.img to my kitchen folder, I can't find it.
I tried to follow this guide http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/2011/05/06/how-to-build-a-linux-kernel/, but without success. I also try SIN2IMG, mkbootimg... but nothing
Can someone tell me another way to make boot.img, or upload boot.img for ST27i.

This is for only Phones with Locked Bootloaders ...
This may enable People with Locked Bootloaders to use any ROM based on the Stock 4.1.B.0.431 ROM .
What does this Zip do ?
Re-Installs CWM recovery and Installs SuperSU app .
Requirements:
Rooted ICS Stock/custom ROM
naA or pvyparts's CWM Recovery.
How does this work ?
Before flashing ROMs meant for Locked Bootloaders
Format system,data and cache
Flash the ROM with install from zip option
At the end uncheck the Reboot system option so you go back the recovery
Use the install from zip option and Flash the PostInstallCWM.zip ..(once only)
Reboot device
Tested on:
DryDroid
Flush78 ICS_cold
MiniCMSandwich Lite
NeroICS_v2
RealICS_r4.1
RealICS_r5.1
Real ICS Lite r2
What about the locked Bootloader optios in ROMs ?
Sometimes the stock system charger overrides the custom required for Locked BL CWM therby blocking access to recovery .
What if I flash the zip twice ?
Chances are the zip may be aborted when extracting /xbin/sh and /xbin/su will be deleted .But you can reflash root using Root zips .
Why did you include root ?
Some ROMs have faulty root permissions and I like SuperSU over Superuser ...(or duplicate root binaries )

Try this I did this on my Xperia U and it worked like charm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Everything you need is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029756
[!!!Make sure you have installed all corresponding drivers from Flashtool folder!!!]
Until you flash back to kernel .54, you will need to install CWM - folow the OP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020893
After you have CWM, flash kernel .54 from the first link
Bought my Sola yesterday, after few hours of searching I am now running rooted .54 with locked bootloader and custom ROM. Just use SEARCH!
Here is how i rooted my Xperia sola..
I also faced the same problems as you did..
1. Bin4ry's method did not work out after booting ended up saying no permissions..
2.Fast boot mode got disabled after a definitive moment of purple led light..
So here is what i did..
1. Install fast boot drivers from flashtool drivers folder..
2. Unlock Bootloader..
3. Install CWM from this link which i got from here
4. Once CWM is installed you are free to install any prerooted and customised Roms.
Hope it helps.

2. unlock boot loader if you have bootloader not unlocked (go to Sony site for tutorial)
3. in the same window where you unlocked boot loader flash boot.img (extract them from zip archive and put into the same folder with fastboot.exe) by command:
fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
4. next command:
fastboot reboot
5. wait 4 diferent led colors and press volume up or down button after vibration to enter into recovery mode

Hi.
You need to unlock the bootloader before you use flashtool.
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
Read it carefully and follow the instructions. This will help you to unlock the bootloader.
After that you can use the flashtool, use fastboot mode then.
i just flashed boot.img but when i downloaded superuser and supersu it said that su binary is not found...so how is this boot.img prerooted?
Simply put, this is (as of now) the latest TWRP (with F2FS, without multirom - sorry).
https://www.mediafire.com/?mj5885q1x5lamzv
Either install it normally or by using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery fota.img
If you head over to AndroPlus' thread and download his latest kernel (as of writing, that is Z3_AndroPlusKernel_F2FS_v26a.zip) you could format /system and /cache as F2FS and it will boot and run fine, /data will however, sadly, not format or work as F2FS. But so far, /system and /cache does.
* Goal: get /data to work with F2FS as well
Thanks for contributing ! Will Multirom ever get integrated by any chance ?
Sent from my Xperia Z3 using XDA Free mobile app
I didn't think anybody was interested.
But sure, I'll see what I can do!
You do need to wait a few days though.
Sure I think there would be a good amount of interest considering it would mean that no matter what happened to the Kernel/recovery we would still be able to fall back on Fota for Multirom.
Sure take your time, would be great if possible.

You need something that, in the init, at boot, waits to check and see if you hit a set key.
"If set key is pushed - load "kernel" (or really ramdisk) from FOTA-partition"
Or more correctly, as @AndroPlus has coded it:
Code:
if [ -n "$POWRKEYCHECK" ]
then
#load FOTA ramdisk
busybox mknod -m 600 ${BOOTREC_FOTA_NODE}
busybox mount -o remount,rw /
busybox ln -sf /sbin/busybox /sbin/sh
extract_elf_ramdisk -i ${BOOTREC_FOTA} -o /sbin/ramdisk-recovery-fota.cpio -t / -c
busybox rm /sbin/sh
load_image=/sbin/ramdisk-recovery-fota.cpio
busybox echo 'Selected FOTA recovery' >>boot.txt
fi
If you want to do that yourself I can attach the original Sony LP kernel, dt.img and ramdisk for you.

Well, to put it easy:
On boot the phone has a script that tells it to look for certain keys to be pushed.
1. If volume up is pushed then go to CM Recovery
2. If volume down is pushed then go to TWRP Recovery
3. If camera button is pushed then go to...
And so on. If there is no script telling the phone to do so (original Sony kernel/ramdisk) then the phone will just simply boot in to android. Nothing tells it to do otherwise.
If there is a script that only tells the phone to boot in to CM recovery or what ever, then that's the only options the phone has.
The kernel (or rather, the ramdisk with the kernel) you use has to have support for booting from the FOTAKernel-partition. If there is no support for it in the kernel then the installed FOTAKernel will just exist there. Not hurting anything, but not doing any good either.
TL;DR - ask the creator/developer of your kernel to add booting from the FOTAKernel as a feature.
Is there any automated or hassle-free way of replacing the nightly CM12 installer script with the script required for this recovery? Or do I have to download the zip manually, unzip, replace the sript manually, rezip, transfer the zip to my Z3, and then flash - every day?

Wrong. On Sony devices, once the bootloader is locked, the device will NOT boot the contents of the FOTAKernel partition.
This is similar to older Samsung devices.
The problem with this, of course, is that you normally can't change recovery without changing the kernel.
The workaround developed (IIRC by Dees_Troy of TWRP) was to have the boot kernel extract its recovery ramdisk from the FOTAKernel partition if present, allowing a person to switch recoveries without switching kernels - but they still need a kernel that will read the ramdisk. Also, the recovery ramdisk present needs to "play nice" with the kernel itself, which can lead to problems when Qualcomm or Sony do things that break display compatibility. For example, I'm fairly certain most current Z3 FOTAKernel builds use RGBX_8888, which Qualcomm dropped support for in vanilla framebuffers (like what recovery uses) in newer kernels. So any FOTAKernel ramdisk that tries to use RGBX_8888 will fail, for example, with Sony AOSP (due to it using a newer 3.10 kernel)
