[Q] Verizon Razr maxx on GSM in Europe? - Motorola Droid RAZR

hello
i know that there are similar threads but my case is unique
I'm planing to get Verizon's Razr maxx and use it in Croatia on GSM network.
I own Droid 3 witch is unlocked and its working fine on GSM.
I found this maxx and owner wants to trade it for my Droid 3, she get maxx as gift but she cannot use it in Croatia(she said)
Phone was never activated on Verizon, its brand new.
I dont know if phone is on ICS or GB, but i think its GB since it was not used
my questions are:
1.Since phone was never activated will i be able to unlock it?
2.I know that you can bypass activation screen with 4 corners, i hope that works on razr
3.If phone is on ICS it should work global without unlock code from unlock4moto.com ?
Thanks in advance

anyone?

Is Verizon Droid Razr Dual Network Mode?

I saw it somewhere that the verizon LTE droid razr actually supports dual network mode, in other words, GSM and CDMA.
I wonder if someone who has the verizon version can verify this. I am sure a lot of people are interested.
Also, I might switch to the verizon version from my galaxy nexus GSM version if it is real...
Thank you and happy new year !
No it is not supporting GSM

I think it has the radios but Verizon had them disabled (gsm that is)

Yup. It has them disabled.
The XT910 however, has the GSM radios. I believe Rogers has it.
Shame on Verizon. They always do something like cutting functions off.
There are engineering prototype floating around and there are pictures showing the dual mode.
Hope one day this thing got an unlocked radio.
Well technically it is enabled for LTE. LTE uses a version of GSM. Thats why you have a sim card from VZW

Yea, but he means able to work on gsm bands (850/900/1800/2100). These bands are hardwared into the droid razr, but like everyone else stated its locked by Verizon. And there is no way around to unlocking it to work. It's a shame, but perhaps in a few months we'll see a "world" phone version of the droid razr. But knowing Verizon, they'd charge extra for a phone with the same hardware, just a new name. Haha.
According to this the Razr has GSM 850/1900 support in its sim card slot. That means if you can unlock (via Verizon key or possibly a custom rom) you should be able to use a third party sim card.

You know, you could just grab the Rogers or Int'l versions, they work on at&t just fine
Any idea why my phone keeps jumping between 60% and 70% on the charger? Was using my N1 charger at first, and it stayed at 60%, finally jumped straight to 70% with the included Motorola charger.
There is definately GSM capability or at least someone wrote settings code for it. These are 2 screen shots from my CDMA Vzn phone.
The settings are greyed out however.

it's one of the reasons that moto has to keep the bootloader locked up. VZW would FREAK so loud their master in Hell could hear them if people started to flash their phones to work on att, or worse...
Both the Droid 2 Global and Droid 3 were locked down not to be used on the GSM networks here in the states and a couple of guys on xda got it working for us. On another note the HTC Rezound is also working on gsm thanks to some
Verizon has already said that the global GSM roaming capabilities will be enables at some point in the future for the Droid 4. They said having them currently blocked at this point was due to "network limitations." Since the internals of the Droid 4 are pretty much identical to the RAZR/RAZR MAXX, it's possible Verizon will enable the feature on those phones as well...or maybe that a developer can enable them once the Droid 4 gets it.
I use an app called phone info to get into the info menus quickly, select Phone Information. I have a GSM Razr and I can switch my radio to CDMA from GSM or Auto (CDMA/GSM) using a dropdown menu. Can you definitely not do this with the US Droid Razr?
Hopefully some developer is working on a workaround for the verizon ICS build to work on GSM ,cant they just add the radio from the CM9 aokp builds ?

I checked out the app. It does give you the choice to switch to GSM but Idk if it'll work and Idk how to tell if it works.

yeah that's the snag unless you are sim unlocked and can try a friends AT&T SIM Card?

I see so it might be possible if you are sim unlocked and have a different sim card.

[Q] How to unlock motorola droid x2

Hey i currently have a samsung epic with sprint, and i got a verizon motorola droid x2 from a friend and i was wondering if anyone knew how to unlock it so i can use it with my sprint service.
-please help-
Thank you--
The x2 can't be unlocked to work on sprint. Motorola and verizon make sure of that

Damn there's no way around it?? well i guess i now have a Droid x2 up for sale haha,
1 of my employees have a droid x and it is on metro pcs andbsays Verizon on the phone.
There has to be a way to unlock it to work with any network........
Verizon has historically been pretty much the only mobile service provider in the US that still runs of the aging CDMA network. CDMA was the frontrunner around 10 years ago, but right now, GSM is king almost globally. The biggest downside of CDMA is that it doesn't require a SIM card, which means that for all non-4G services you're forced to use the inbuilt antenna, which runs only on CDMA. If you want truly global capabilities, get the Inc2 or, for that matter, any 4G phone. Those need SIMs for the LTE service, which means it has a SIM port, which means you could theoretically hack the phone to run on anything. The DX2, unfortunately, has no such support.
Is there any chance to unlock Motorola Droid X2 (verizon) ?

can i install an Eu rom over a verizion droid razr

i want to buy a verizon droid razr in u.s that have english and espanol language support only for my cousin but i need it to be with italian language support ,so i was i asking my self can i flash the verizon razr with an unbranded Eu rom that have ita language support and if yes will it be in 100% working order after the flash or i might experience some problematics ie gsm reception, slower gps fixes or else

Doing that will brick the phone.

Yep, it will.
The EU rom is for the EU phone. The Verizon phone is different in several ways, and it is not compatible. Besides that, the Verizon RAZR isn't even GSM compatible at this point. It's CDMA/LTE only right now, so you couldn't get it working natively on any network in Europe anyway.

what are you talking about,in the link above they say its gsm
are you guys sure you are giving me correct information about what i am asking?
if i should brick my phone with this process can i recover and go back with the original firmware unbrcking it?
That link is wrong. If you buy an XT912 Droid RAZR, you will have a very expensive paperweight. You need an XT910. There is no GSM support on the XT912. It has the hardware for both CDMA & GSM, but the GSM portion is disabled just like on the Droid Bionic. And no, due to Motorola kernel signatures and partition sizes, the stock ROMs are not cross-compatible.
Feel free not to believe us, it's your money.

what about motorola pro the verizon one and photon are they also without gsm?
You will not brick it simple you cant flash it with rds due signature mistmatch unless you have a unlocket bootloader.
droid pro was hacked by TBH i think. gsm radio was hacked and then it was working with tmobile/att.

Photon works just fine, it was designed to be a dual mode CDMA/GSM device from the start. No 900mhz UMTS with the Photon, though (And USSD codes don't work).

you are talking about xt912?so it actually have a sim slot,if yes, unlolcked bootloader is a different thing than entering a code for unlocking the phone i suppose . . .
i still havent got the xt912 ,but i found this guide, will it work for the xt912 too in your opinion?

The SIM slot in the XT912 is for LTE, not GSM.. And 100% no to the "Will the X8 bootloader unlock work" question. Sony Ericsson are a completely different kettle of fish to Motorola. We've just spent months waiting while Kholk and the Eternity Project devs worked on a bypass, the bootloaders currently cannot be unlocked and likely never will be unless Motorola feel charitable.
I hate to say it, but you seriously need to do a lot more research before you waste your money on a CDMA phone that is no use to anyone outside the USA.

ok then i wont buy the xt910 because its too expensive, neither the xt912 because it wont work
i am going to consider the htc vivid ,lg nitro or atrix 2
is there a way to recocnize any gsm/almost gsm american phone that will not work in europe without asking each time in forums?maybe there is some kind of updated list somewhere . . .i always bought gsm phones from ebay u.s and they always worked ,guess i had been lucky till now
good news guys. Verizon is gonna unlock the gSM bands on droid razr. xt912.
can't wait!!!

(Q)GSM data not work on Droid Razr Maxx

Hi all,
First of all sorry for my bad english,
Last month my nephew gave me Motorola Droid Maxx xt912 Verizon, this device is brand new one.
I injected CDMA from local provider and it works flawlesly, but the problem come when I want to use the GSM (for your information I live in Indonesia).
When I want to use the GSM with inserting local provider micro simcard I can make phone call and SMS but I cant use the data, I'm sure I already set the APN correctly. I tried with 3 other local providers and still cant connect the data. Right now the phone running stock ICS Rom 4.0.4.
Really appreciate It if someone can give me a clue to solve this problem.
Thanks and regards

Razr Maxx on T-Mobile, what do I have to do?

I have an HTC One on T-Mobile that I have to send back to HTC to get repaired, I need something to tied me over till then. I have a Razr Maxx that I used to have on Verizon previously and want to use that in the interim.
I have read on here that it's unlocked out of the box, but when I put my T-Mobile sim card in it, it doesn't work. What else do I have to do to it in order to get it to function?
The Droid Razr is unlocked. You may want to check with T-Mobile to see if they have recommended access point name (APN) settings. I had to do that to get my US Verizon RAZR to work in Canada. If you are lucky T-Mobile will have information on their support web site.

I got all the APN settings from them, but it's still not working. They say that should only effect data and mms service, but I can't even get my voice to work, but I put the SIM back in my HTC One and it works fine.
cruccr STREETS
The XT912 is Global Unlocked. You can use it on other GSM carriers outside the US only. You are stuck on Verizion inside the US.
