well the prob is that there are hundreds of pages, I've been looking and following instructions and guess what, I screwed my phone following those instructions, so I'm just asking if that's possible cause last time my phone got stucked in a bootloop that forced me to take it to service support

[Q] How To Save/BackUp S2 Stock Firmware before Rooting to Preserve Warranty

Hi All!!
(I am Sorry if there has been a thread like this before ,i am new to Android just need to ask some questions for my Galaxy S2 which i recently bought)
Phone Details
Samsung Galaxy S2(Hong Kong)
Android 2.3.5
Baseband I9100XXKI3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKI3
Build GINGERBREAD.ZSKI3
Question 1
My phone is in Warranty i have been iOS user and like Jailbreak i want to enjoy Andriod by rooting my phone
But i want to backup the stock firmware completly before all this process so if i wanted to reverse process ,or get my phone back to its old state like it came(ZSKI3 SAME KERNEL AND EVERY THING REST)
please suggest me any backup tool like that
Question 2
i want to root my phone in stock firmware,i like touchwiz and every thing that came stock but having root access so i can get any thing i want so please suggest me the best firmware for S2
I will be really thankfull for you responce, and please if i made some mistakes above i am sorry again i am new here
1-root with cf-root for you firmware using Odin.
2-boot into recovery and do a cwm backup or use the cwm app that installs with cf root to do the same.
3-if you want to go back to stock flash the original kernal using Odin and use a download mode jig to reset counter to hide flashing.
4-if you use a custom rom restore backup then do the above step.
You can find plenty of how-to's on any if the above points on this forum or by Googling it.

And or look for your stock/branded rom download in the development section .

Ok. To flash the original kernal you will need to get it from the intratech thread. He had them all I think. This will remove the custom kernal and, assuming you are still on stock firmware everything is stock again.
As for the jig, when you flash a non stock kernal, there is a counter which shows when you go into download mode. Samsung put this in to see if you had flashed anything if you return it for warranty. The jig plugs into the phones USB/charging port and clears it so Samsung knows ****. I bought one off eBay for $2 delivered.

Restore to stock firmware.

Guys,
I know that theres a lot of topics about this over the forum, but I couldnt find one that is up to date.
Im running the remix rom 1.7 and Id like to restore my phone to factory state.
Could someone direct me to the best way to do this?
Thanks in advance

That depends on whether you just want the stock rom to use it or to send it in for repairs.
If you just want a stock rom to use: Just flash a stock firmware with Odin and there you go.
If you need a S2 in its "original state":
1.) Flash an older bootloader and use a USB-Jig (see the USB-Jig thread about that) to set the Custom Rom Counter back (oh I forgot: There's also the possibility to use the "Triangle away"-app instead of a Jig)
2.) Flash a "full" (Pit File, PDA, CSC and Phone) stock firmware with Odin

Go to sammobile.com,
Download a stock ROM closest to that of the OS you want (GB, ICS),
Put file in PDA section of Odin,
Flash ROM,
If your custom binary counter is not zero, buy a USB Jig off eBay for like £2,
Your done.
Chris.

Cut and Paste Basics
You rooted yes and now you find OTA updates fail yes .
As per ten thousand posts OTA may fail on rooted phones .
Choice remove root and update .
Flash stock rom via Odin and reroot .
Flash stock rom from CWM stock roms post should not need reroot .
All on GENERAL section .

Thanks ..
If i follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406664 okey? or something more i need to do ?One thing more please can you give me link for exact stock rom for my phone.
Returning back to stock kernel first is not always needed. With the previous update, i installed the update through Kies on my rooted S3 and just re-rooted afterwards. No reinstall was needed and all apps and settings were untouched. Try updating via Kies.

The thing is ... any i9300 stock firmware will work on your phone ... so asking for the exact one is pointless.

If you want exact firmware you need to use search both XDA and Google .
Try the stock rom threads x 2 but i see no later firmware for you on either .
Try sammobile .com
download with CHECKFUS
Baseband is your modem not firmware .
The link you have posted is not for this phone

[Q] The easiest way to flash stock

Hi all,
I want to be sure here for obvious reasons, i had a rooted s3 with custom rom/firmware, which i then used triangle, went back to stock and unrooted. However the firmware i installed isnt what i wanted, i read that the firmware with xx in it was for uk use but it seems to be primarily for israil as it has jewish as its default language and a jewish calender installed as default. So i have now downloaded which i hope is a tmobile uk firmware 19300xxella_i9300t from sammy. will i need to root again then install this with odin then reset counter then unroot and will this download cover the rom and firmware as im never to sure the firmware (screen entered when holding volume up, power button and middle button is now official stock. but not sure if this will allow me to install the official?
is theis file 19300xxella_i9300t the rom or firmware im now confused
You dont have to root to flash stock rom. You might need to reset your S3 though..

Just download the stock rom that you want (e.g. from sammobile.com) and flash it via Odin. Afterwards do a factory reset and you should be good to go. No root required.
Follow the flashing via Odin section of the guide

Firmware means the full firmware and operating system and modem.
Rom is just a word used to describe a firmware file .
Stock rom stock firmware the same .

Thanks for clearing that up. I think where ive read on various websites and forums these terms used incorrectly it threw me out. Thanks for clarifying that.

[Q] Upgrading to stock rom

Ok guys here's the deal, last year I rooted my friend's s3 (international, india, i9300) because there was no available update to android, so I flashed purelook HD 8.0 (android version 4.1.2), now he is saying that his phone has become very slow so he wants to go back to stock
so I downloaded "INU-I9300XWUGML4-20140107141249.zip" but after downloading this I saw that it is for android 4.3 (new official update).
So my question is should I directly flash this in ODIN (android 4.3) or I should download older official update before flashing new update?
If it's a full, multi part stock rom then it wouldn't be a zip. Odin can't flash zips.
Suggest you read the basics in general forum, sticky threads, before you do anything else.

yeah I know odin doesn't flash zip's, I quoted the file name just for reference as there were two firmwares updates available for india, one INS another INU on doing some searches I came to know that they are locked and unlocked updates, kinda same, you can download any one.
is there any number I should match before downloading...we do not have contract phones in india, just retail so I was confused therefore I downloaded the unlocked one
back to the point, I know that I have to extract it first, there is a file inside it, named "I9300XWUGML4_I9300ODDGML4_I9300DDUGMK1_HOME.tar.md5"
so maybe now you can help me out, whether should I flash it or download an earlier version and flash it prior to flashing this one...
So my question is should I directly flash this in ODIN (android 4.3) or I should download older official update before flashing new update?
Its your choice but as said read and understand the basics first .

Well I know how to flash roms/firmwares via ODIN, I know I have to check my counter too if it is not zero than I will have to reset it
so is there anything else?
I'm just asking this because I don't know much about s3 but I had note and I remember it had some issues regarding upgrading to a ice-cream sandwich version, something related to 'safe kernel' many other things...
and even I tried searching for basics, I didn't find anything else other than this and if there is something I am still missing then please kindly link me to it or just answer the question, IS IT SAFE or not?

dudes dudes dudes I repeat once more, I know how to flash and what to flash,eg
first of all - reset the counter, app triangle away
then - install stock recovery, already downloaded
finally - flash stock rom, already downloaded
I know about the modem, efs back up and everything, all I am asking is, is it safe to directly upgrade from a third party 4.1.2 rom to stock 4.3 rom, I hope you understand my question this time...
