I got an Xperia U today and I swear the cap is superglued on! Any tips for removing it easily?
Apply pressure( like real hard pressure) on the sides of the cap using your thumb and finger on either side and slide it down.

That's what I'm doing but it just doesn't work, neither my mum or dad can get it off either
Yeah its a bit of a pain to take it off. Do this. Put pressure in just one side and pull the cap out (careful or you'll break it). When its out, push it back and pull the other end simultaneously. It should be out.

We can't even get one side out

Gentleman,
Removing the battery door the first time was a little tricky. I felt as though it would be easy to damage the door/door tabs. Is there a trick to it that I'm missing?
Thanks,

I've found that using the corner of a credit card (or similar plastic card) is quite convenient. Just gently push it in the slot where you are supposed to use your fingernail.
Cheers
I spent an hour try to prise the back of the phone as per SGS 1 before spotting it had a different back .

I think it's a lot tougher than first impressions suggest. I've just been prising it off. To put it back on, just insert the bottom tabs first and work your way around the cover, clipping it into place.
It just feels like every time I remove it im wearing down the tsbs on the door or the device tab catchers.
Thanks for the info

Just stick the top of your thumbnail in that little notch on the top right side of the cover, and pull. It'll pop off like butter.
Well, no not like butter, but it's not hard. Don't worry the back cover can take a lot of abuse, lol

There is no trick, I had the same reaction as you on my first time trying to put the battery in, I thought I was going to rip it back to bits. You'll just have to get used to it..
FYI, I use a knife (ones you eat with) to open it, it's much better than trying to use my fingernails
I found that using my fingernail to get it started while slowly pulling back and wiggling it left to right, released it much easier.

It's like the Evo in that sense then... I was always afraid of trashing the plastic clips over the past year, but they are remarkably wear resistant. Just don't rip the cover off and you should be fine.
Whenever I try to write things down with the pen, I accidently press one of the buttons with my palm. What are your guy's solution to this if you had the same problem? Is there a way to temporarily disable the buttons?

i know what you mean!
but i noticed that i can reach the top of the screen in landscape mode with the htc pen with my hand off of the flyer on the table
try that?
Yeah I have. Thanks for the tips though.

Touch and hold the screen with your non writing hand before you begin to use the pen.
Wow thanks that worked.

This solves everything for me.
Omg that's so stupid but it makes so much sense! Thanks!
This old thread is similar so I thought I would give a link to it.
Touching any metal or screen part gives a good capacitive link.

I had someone knock my phone out of my hand and it dropped and hit the floor. After putting the battery back in and restarting the phone, I found out that I could no longer swipe my finger down from the top of the screen to pull down my notification menu. I believe my screen is now out of calibration at the top and is not registering my touch. It does work in landscape mode. I reflashed my phone with latest version on ICS. Still not working, any ideas? Thanks

So the top of the screen doesn't work at all in portrait mode?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
It is on, but does no register any touch on the top quarter inch of the screen.
Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk 2
Hmm.... Odd that just that small of a section stopped working. Pushing harder doesn't do anything?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
No affect what so ever. I believe my screen has re-calibrated so the top section is out of the operating area. At least that is my thinking.
Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk 2
Hmm... I don't think it recalibrated. Maybe more like the digitizer was damaged.

I guess I will call Verizon in the morning and see what they say about sending out a new one unless someone has an idea. Thanks for the help.
Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk 2
Weird because after I changed my digitizer, now I can't swipe up on the notification bar and the screen looks perfectly placed. Are you running ics? If you are, go to developer options and select show touches and look to see if it actually registers on that area of the screen.

It does not show me touching at the top. It stops registering about a quarter of an inch from the top.

call verizon but if there is no physical damage, don't tell them you dropped it.
If there is physical damage and you get them to send a warranty replacement, they might charge you for it.
I will call them today but do I need to get my phone back to factory software? I am running a leaked version of ICS. If I need to take it back to factory software, how do I go about it? My phone is not rooted.
Wow, big surprise to me. I was sort of annoyed at the small size of the notification light on the side of the screen, but I just realized that they put one on the back of the phone, and its much larger. Cool!
Yep

It was one of the new main features of the phone besides the screen and internals

Yep. Most of the time I'm using the phone for voice chat (phone call or VOIP usually), the phone is face down. It automatically switches to speaker when the phone is face down so all you need to do is either hit call or hit answer and place the phone on your coffee table while you work. Very convenient feature and you don't have to worry about missing notifications while it's face down because of the rear notification light. This also applies when you leave the room for a bit and return. I personally love the feature but from what I've heard, other people consider it a nuisance. To each his own I suppose.
I haven't really noticed it, seems kinda useless.
Too bad most of the cases cover it

That's probably why I didn't notice it. Mine has been wrapped in Otter Box since day one... Gonna have to pull the case just to check it out lol

Ok so basically I never noticed it doing it but on the top left corner if I try to use airview it just clicks a lot. Also anywhere on the screen if the spen is just about to stop being seen by the phone (is verging on being too far) it'll freak out and click all over this is an issue because I tend to hold it at this height.

Alot of people say give it a couple gentle taps on the tip on a flat surface.

If the problem persists, you can adjust the potentiometerby removing the button and turning the screw slightly clockwise.
