Never mind guys.....after so much translation found this on German thread and as soon as i installed this, Kies showed me an update
Hi,
I tried to upgrade my Galaxy S2 I9100G with the official I9100G 2.3.6 firmware from the link from androidadvices
But my phone did not reboot after the firmware update and now it just hung showing a green line text saying 'logo.jpg' draw failed.
Pls help me what should i be doing to get my phone work.
Hi guys, i need your help with a problem i have with my new Samsung S3.
I bought it sim free from Amazon UK recently, and i want to update to the latest Firmware via Kies. But unfortunately when i connect to Kies via USB, it does not seem to show my current firmware or offer any updates. The phone is completely new and was sealed when i recieved it. I have renistaled Kies several times and the usb drivers. I have even tried to get it to work on a different computer, but still not working.
I was previously using an S2 and the updates with Kies worked fine with that. I have called Samsung Tech Support, but so far they suggest that i should be patient and wait for the OTA to come. But i am curious to know why Kies is not recognising my device as it should in the first place?
Current Android version is 4.0.4
Any help or advice is welcome.
Cheers.
Install Antutu and check the info, a lot of people have been stung by buying the chinese knockoff SGS3 or 1 lot call it the HDC galaxy S3 though they tend to advertise it as the I9300.... I'm not saying you've bought one but there is the possibilty if you bought it online....
If you find you've bought a knockoff SGS3 then there's no way Kies will recognise it as it isn't a samsung phone...

Hi Thanks for your reply.
I tried that Antutu app just now, and it seems to confirm it is a genuine model
If you know their actually is an update for your phone rather than updates for other phones then simply use CHECKFUS to download it and flash via ODIN .
Their may be no update for your phone yet as JB is rolling out .

Hi JJEgan.
I'm having the same issue so thanks for the advice. Is CHECKFUS a separate application or an option within ODIN?
Thanks

Hi I got the samsung galaxy s3 when i bought the mobile it was rooted but its unbranded as there were no logos on the mobile or on the mobile box. I unrooted the mobile and reset the binary counter back to 0, the firmware i installed than was original firmware from sammobile website, but later i found the firmware was customized and it wasn't complete. Finally I installed Samsung Kies and used the option of firmware upgrade and initialisation to restore my device to factory settings but when my mobile switched back on i was surprised to see s3 got firmware with vodafone settings, my mobile is simfree but now im not sure. can anyone please help me how i can get the original firmware on my s3 and samsung kies will recognize my device as after upgrade and initialisation when i connect the device to my pc i get the message samsung does not support the firmware and i cannot get firmware upgrade from kies.
really need help to sort it out.
First you need to determine what model the phone is. This can easily be determine under Settings>about device>Model number
If it says GT-I9300, then you have the international version, if not then google whatever it displays then it will tell you what version you have. depending on which version you have, you will need to go to the respective forum and download a ROM. Install this Rom in recovery mode (this is explained in another thread in Q&A)
