[Q] Removing Sony and O2 rubbish from Mini Pro SK17i - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi Everyone
I have been readind pages on this site for a while, I have a Xperia mini pro sk17i on UK O2 and I would like to remove the O2 and Sony bloatware along with the facebook rubbish. With a you tube guide I have made a back up of my existing rom using flash tool, I have tried it seems in vain to find a standard rom, the type you have on a unlocked phone from the UK, the mny guides are a bit confusing i have the4.0.2.A.0.62 build and understand I need to down grade first, I did try this a few weeks ago but my phones screen locked up completely luckily at the same time as i had used a foreign rom by mistake so I reflashed and pulled the plug part way through so a little triangle apperared and O2 repaired it and had to replace the screen it seems, that crapped me up a tad. So I thought I would get some advice this time. So im looking for the r4ight rom to flash with then root to remove the rubbish. Apologies if this has been brought up before but some of the liks I go to say the roms have been removed.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Mark
P.S if my rom back is helpfull please let me know I can upload it or email it to you.

Check out my signature there's a step by step guide how to root and then Update to .62 again. Then you can uninstall Facebook etc

Why weren't you able to update? Something wrong or just no notification for the update?
You can flash the update via flashtool, but for that you will have to use local-prop and push-root-files method as far as I know...
Yes flash the baseband you had before or the recommend for your provider/region. I don't even changed my baseband, so I don't know much about the baseband

Hi Again
Ok flashed again and then flashed to baseband 64, radio works interweb ok super user icon shows up still no update but i have no wifi at my home only hard wired. Now how do i get rid of the crap please?.
Thanks for your help so far.

You have to use wifi, otherwise you could update to .69 firmware version. Download from here the 4.0.2.A.0.69 zip file to install via cwm.
Download x-parts from playstore and install cwm. Then do a backup and flash the zip via cwm. Do a factory reset, wipe cache
and davlik cache and you should have superuser installed and it should work
If you don't know how to use cwm, ask here and I will tell you exactly what to do!

Hi
Ok I went daft got bored and updated by sus, and now I am happy I have ICS everythingworks spot on apart from front camera option missing but thats no big deal, I disabled all the crap and it runs just as sooth as gb and i have more memory and ram left, pictures are just as good as before, I am very happy with this, I made a ftf file in case anyone wants it. This is on a uk phone on the giffgaff network.
Many thanks for your help.

Best stable custom rom for locked bootloader? Don't know on gingerbread there aren't many custom roms and on ics there are only a few like real ics lite and MiniCMSandwich...
I'd stay on stock gingerbead rom, best rom for everything

I managed to root the phone but on each custom ROM I tried thats listed as suitable for locked bootloader (3 different ROMS)
I had a stuck black screen after the SE words after powering up.

Did you wipe data/factory reset wipe cache and dalvik cache (and on some roms required format system) BEFORE you installed the zip file?

Yes I done the wipes & formats. All CWM installs gave me black screen no matter what options & roms I tried so I used flashtool & put on 4.0.4 after 4.0.2.A.0.69 just to get the phone functional & to try it out for speed & problems. Will have a crack another day when my hair loss grows back

When you want to install custom roms like real ics and similar ics roms for locked bootloader, flash them through cwm when you are on ics. If you have been on gingerbead before, it won't work, but if you are on ics, it should work

On 4.1.B.0431 I dont have root or CWM so I will no doubt get a headache when I next have a tinker around.
Im actually shocked I didnt turn it into a paper weight!

[Q] Understanding how to upgrade xperia x10

Hello to all,
Firstly first post to this site and also new to the world of rooting/flashing so bare with me on this one..
Ok as title states I would like to know on how to successfully flash my x10 and receive the benefits that xda have given to alot of us!
Phone specs:
Xperia x10a.
Ver 2.1update1.
Rooted via super one click.
So far I have only been able to root the phone.. I have TB and have performed a back up recently. I do also have the Rom Manager app whilst watching a tutorial via youtube flashing using the Rom Manager I was not able to use the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery as the x10 was not in the listing to proceed. I have also got xrecovery ver 0.3 and tried another method using this but I was not able to install xrecovery properly.. I downloaded it all well and good but went to install and the 3 windows never became ticks just crosses.. Uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail it did not work..
So my questions are:
Have I done something wrong on my end for this not to work? (knowing my luck yes).
And all I'm after if someone could take the time out and lay out a clear somewhat easy path in order for myself to be able to flash and install custom Roms? cm7 is what I would like to use unless if a good recommendation is given.
Thank you in advance to all and I do apologize for the long post I just wanted to make sure I covered everything.. Still new to this
Kind Regards.
Agera.
Xrecovery installer can be a bit troublesome. Sometimes it doesn't even work for me.
In my opinion, the best way to install xrecovery, root, & jit enable your x10 is through flashtool. You will need a PC but the process works better than the installer. Try that method and find out if that works.
Hey thanks for your reply, my noobness is showing greatly at this point regarding xrecovery... it'll help if I actually click install busy box and destination folder (duh) made me look....yeah Ok well now I have a phone that has been rooted and now have xrecovery in operation, I guess now comes to install a custom rom.
Now to sum it all up basically I have to copy paste desired rom and google rom pack load it onto the sd card (not in any file inside sd but just on sd) perform final backup get into xrecovery factory wipe first? I believe then custom rom reboot then get back into xrecovery then install google apps reboot and done?
I hope I got that down I'm trying to remember processes without having to go back to a tutorial, if I left anything out permission to give me a clip over the ear
Cheers.
When you pick a ROM, make sure the phone's baseband matches the ROMS baseband the developer wants. Also, follow how the way the dev wants the ROM installed, like phone wiped and cache wiped and stuff. And sometime there are multiple files that needed to be flashed in a specific order in xrecovery. So make sure you follow all the devs directions. Hope this helps.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
and you can find different ROMs that don't require you to flash googleapps as well, that just makes it confusing. I started with FreeX10, as it was simple and easy to install. once you have a hang of it, I recommend using Trip's GB MIUI. and you said you backed up phone before you installed xrecovery? I recommend you backup using xrecovery first
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App
fixed phone was able to get back into xrecovery and do a restore...
Ok, something I want to ask regarding what I did today when I went to update to a newer o/s eveything went fine until after the phone rebooted and came back to the home screen the 2.2.1 froyo rom I used seemed to be refreshing itself every 2 seconds which made it next to impossible to navigate around the phone... The arc version 2.3.1 opened up and about 30 seconds it froze restarted and shut down again did that for a while... So both didnt work for me only other thing I opened up was the google pack so I could get the market and gmail, I also tried it without installing google apps... same thing happened.
So my question is have I forgotten to put an extra file in? or was it my blind luck that I used to unstable roms?
I've really tried here.. if anyone can please post a link that is certain to work with exactly what i need to do and what files I need that would be really great. Whether its 2.2 or 2.3 it doesnt matter to me so long as it works at this stage I'm having no luck getting something solid here...
Cheers.

[Q] Downgrade to GB: shouldn't have problems, should I?

Mine could be a stupid question, especially since I''ve already downgraded successfully from ICS to GB, but anyway I'd like to have some feedback from anyone who's a bit more experienced than me
I tried stock ICS for Mini and I didn't quite like it (LED issue, too much heating, some app incompatibilities and so on) so I decided to downgrade to my beloved and trusted stock GB. BUT my bootloader is locked, and I had no internet access nor DoomLord's root kit with me either. This meant that, after downgrading to GB, I couldn't have rooted it, so no CWM, no Recovery, no backup restoring, oh well, I didn't feel like going around with a brand new phone for a whole afternoon (I'm an idiot, am I? ).
So here's what I did: I had CWM Recovery installed on stock ICS. I used Flashtool to flash only stock 2.3.4 kernel. Then I booted and when prompted by the brighter screen (no blue LED, damn ICS!) entered CWM Recovery (which, let me repeat that, I had previously installed on ICS) and restored a stock GB backup. I rebooted, and I'm on stock GB now. Great.
Now I'd like to know... even if everything's going just fine, and even if I can't think of a reason why I could get in trouble, I still think that maybe I just don't know something, or I forgot some important information, and this way of restoring a stock GB ROM could just be totally wrong. And here you come, experienced users: did I do something stupid?
Thanks for your attention... I just talk a lot, I know...
EDIT
Also: if I feel like going back to stock ICS, I suppose I can flash stock ICS kernel and then restore a stock ICS backup... right?

With an unlocked bootloader getting back / switching between gb an ics is easy.
Use in both ways a prerooted kernel with cwm. Install the kernel via flashtool. After that restore your nandroid and you are done.
That shouldn't take much more than about five minutes. Switching is so an easy way.
Gesendet von meinem WT19i mit Tapatalk 2
I did it with a locked bootloader. It doesn't matter, since CWM is not installed in the kernel (it's in /system, I think, but I'm not sure of it).
If you install CWM Recovery and then flash any stock kernel you can access the recovery even if it's not included in the kernel. That's what I tried, and it worked.
What I was asking is: is there any chance that this method can leave old/unwanted data on the phone? Based on what you said, it should be ok
I did the same but via wotanserver, because I have a belgian azerty mini pro and couldn't find the right firmware on xda.
Didn't have any issues, but you should remove all application data on your sd card to avoid problems.
I did like the complete ICS look, but it was too choppy, and too many bugs to live with.

[Q] Note Rom Pre-Brick help

If anyone has the time i would like some help on how to flash my Note without bricking the phone. Reason i ask, is because i have already bricked it!! Sent it off to mobiletechvideos.com who unbricked it so now i'm back! I love the phone alot just hate stock rom and how slow it is. I would like to use a rom that is able to overclock? I've read about the sauron rom but i can't tell if it's out dated or if there is something better now?
I'm not a noob when it comes to rom's, Htc aria, samsung captivate, inspire, then the htc one x - i've all rom'd them but now i'm stump'd. The first go around, i flashed the rom and everything went thru fine. When i booted up the phone - Nothing changed!? so i find another rom, flashed it and the phone bricked. Tried jig everything else and to no avail. So 65$ later i'm back with the stock rom and it's rooted. Anyhow, here is the info i'm sure you guys are wanting to give me a hand!

do you have a custom recovery ? like cwm or the other one ( ive only had my note a week)
i would start with that..
If I were you (and I fully understand that I am not nor anyone else on here...) I would:
1. Install Samsung Kies and drivers to my laptop.
2. Start Samsung Kies and plug in the phone via USB cable.
3. Update the phone's OS via Kies to ICS. You won't brick it that way.
4. Give stock ICS a chance and if you still feel it's too slow for you (rolling eyes), flash a custom ROM/kernel.

Sounds good sir i will give it a try - Meanwhile Anyone want to take a stab at walking me thru a rom that would work on my phone?
not that i have any idea what i am doing...
0 MAKE VERY SURE THE ROM YOU ARE FLASHING IS FOR YOUR PHONE... FORGET THE WORDS "note" or "galaxy" or anything else..
its the i717d or i 7100 or i 7000 that matters.. if in doubt dont do it..
1 download your cwm compatible rom (like blackstar or others) ( try to pick a recent rom no older than 2 months unless all the developers have jumped ship for the new phone)
( usually ends with a .zip) to your sd card)
2 use "android file verifier " ( from the market) to make sure your md5 hash of the download is prefect
( there SHOULD be a md5 someplace to verify the file download)
then by following info like whats found here.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584250 ( and that i copied and pasted)
boot into recovery by pressing volume up down, and power button at same time ( when your phone is turned off)
Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm
Select wipe cache partition and confirm
Select advanced - wipe dalvik cache and confirm
Select install zip from SD card
Select from internal SD card or wherever you placed it.
Select the ROM file and confirm.
rom will install
then AGAIN
Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm
Select wipe cache partition and confirm
Select advanced - wipe dalvik cache and confirm
boot up wait 5mins for it to boot.. dont touch it for 10 minutes after it boots
then
have fun..
dont forget to wonder if you bricked it during the first boot... that one takes the longest..
i have followed these directions drunk and sober when flashing over 20 times my new note i717d i got last week and im not bricked yet.
its the same system i used with my sgs2 i9100 for over a year and it still works..
but then dont think anything i have said here is right.
i could just be stupid and very lucky that i dont brick everything i touch but will not admit it.
READ A LOT, then READ more.. then ONE MORE TIME READ.. then flash.

So after about 2 hours off and on, using different cables and google. No avail, UGH!
Samsung kies
Your device is not supported to update via samsung kies. Walked thru a few xda threads and they are saying update thru odin. Hell if i'm jumping ship to odin again, mine as well do a rom. I'm giving this 1 more shot, if it bricks i'll sell it lol!!
Mobiletechvideos most have had to do something extreme to repair your device, or they gave you one that.... never mind. Well, looks like you need to flash CWM and find a zip aligned ROM on here.

LOL, no they did exactly what was promised. Even people who haven't bricked their device have ran into this issue!
Okay - After reading up and then watching a video on how to flash roms. Which looked exactly like what i had done before time and time again. I'm proud to say i'm ROM'D! I'm now running the blackstar rom and it's very zippy love it to death. Would like to have tried ICS 4.0.4 but took the plunge and happy with the turn out.
I've always came to this site for help but never made an account and you guys are too nice! Hopefully i can/could help someone else out down the road. Until then i'm going to enjoy not being so slow! Thanks!:good:
Its because you have a LF6 modem. Its not the modem that GB had. The Kies upgrade only works if your phone is stock.
You can use the kies emergancy firmware upgrade option.

[Q] Help please: kernel and rom mistake

Hey guys, long time lurker, 1st time poster. I made a mistake with a miniCM9 ROM install.
I've had no problem rooting, unlocking the BL, Flashtool etc...
And I've done this before with a little Huawei and had no issues.
This time trying with a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro.
I installed nAa's ICS kernel (u20_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04.ftf), which worked fine. Then tried to install a ROM (MiniCM9-3.0.5-mimmi.zip).
And yes, I did read everything on the guides several times. BUT I was pretty sure I had the required firmware, my guess is that I didn't (Latest 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware).
And yes I have searched and searched (and then searched some more) the forum for another noob who has asked the same question.
Anyway, here I am 3 days later with my tail between my legs :silly:
I would be most appreciative if someone can point me to a nice kernal like nAa's and a ROM that I can use previous to 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware (I'm pretty sure that is the problem.)
Thanks in advance.

That's my problem (where I said pretty sure that's the problem ; )
The kernel guide didn't mention the need for that firmware but the ROM guide did. I thought I had that one, but I don't think I did.
Is there another easy to use Kernel that is compatible with the old firmware?

NO, that is not your problem... you flashed the right kernel and the right ROM, so what is not working for you? The thing that is not working is the problem.
Whether you did or did not have the right firmware may be the cause of your problem, but it is not your problem. So, what is not working???
Can you boot up the phone? If so, go to settings - about phone and check your baseband version, it should end in 4015 if you had the right firmware to start with If so, then that is not the cause of your problem.

The phone gets the nAa splash screen repeating, can get into recovery and mount USB easily, load the ROM from SDcard, no workie, still gets nAa splash screen.

Did you do: Wipe data/Factory reset, Wipe Cache and in the Advanced-menu: Wipe Dalvik-cache and Wipe Batterystats?
If the ROM doesn't boot, do those wipes again, it will usually work better if you do those wipes after you install the ROM.

If the ROM doesn't boot, do those wipes again, it will usually work better if you do those wipes after you install the ROM.

I followed all the instructions on the guide, I did a wipe data/factory reset. Haven't tried the Dalvik part, I'll give it a go. Thanks.

I tried all that, still just get the nAa splash screen.
Anyone know how to check the firmware version when it's in this state?

Find S1Tool, if you haven't got it already, and click the identify button I'm pretty sure it will tell you what is on your phone, but if you flashed the MiniCM9 ROM it should show Android 4.0 as version.
If all else fails, repair your phone with Sony Update Service or PC Companion, it will give you the latest official firmware, and then try again.

Thanks, I'll give that a go. PC Companion didn't work for me before that's why I tried the other method.

Ok, S1Tool says:
SOFTWARE VERSION: 1235-3411_2.1.1.A.0.6 - does that mean that's the firmware?
FILESYSTEM VERSION: WORLD-1-2-5_2.0.A.504 - or this number?
S1Tool not recognize the version of android (i use GB version), i tested it.
MODEL (from GDFS): U20a
SOFTWARE VERSION: 1235-3411_2.1.1.A.0.6
CUSTOM VERSION: 1239-2460_R4B
FILESYSTEM VERSION: WORLD-1-2-5_2.1.1.A.0.6
Azazel dont use PC Companion, dont work, use instead Sony Update Service.
Sorry for my english.
So using the Sony Update Service should make it usable again, even with the new Kernel and ROM on there?
No will update your phone with the last stock rom (unbricked phone).
After that try again.
Thanks guys, managed to get the phone working again. Thought it was SIM locked again, but it's come good.
Will try the update again in a couple of days.
The ROM guide says you need "Latest 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware / Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015"
My phone says I have Firmware version 2.1 -update 1 and the above Baseband version.
Any ideas why the Kernel loaded fine but the ROM wouldn't work?
View if your bootloader is already unlocked.
Copy the rom and gaaps to your sdcard
Reboot on recovery mode.
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache
Flash rom, flash gaaps
Reboot your phone
and wait to boot 5 to 10 min.
Sorry 4 my english

[Q] GT-i19100P flashing...

Hi guys,
Back for some more invaluable help.
OK so for the record I don't feel myself a noob to flashing I've done many htc and I'm currently on blade elite on my hox at the moment, however...... I see a lot of posts warning not to do certain thing when flashing this phone - GT-i19100.
My Mrs phone is running like a dog its slow laggy and vile to use so I want to change the rom for her to make it run better, use less battery, and most and foremost actually work!!!
So I was thinking something like omega rom. basically a pretty simple stock rom without the bloatware that runs a bit better than the actual stock one.
can anyone help me with if this is actually safe or not? any suggested roms that may achieve my goals? having never had a sgs2 or any Samsung for that matter im really not sure what is available and after 300 pages of reading im still none the wiser.
cheers brett

the only most imp thing, what people suggest not to do with I9100 is that, u should not make any wipes in recovery, when ur on stock android v4.0.4 ICS. rest u can flash any Stock Sammy based/CM10/CM10.1/AOSP roms meant for I9100 for now after rooting it.
Since I9100P comes with NFC (Near Field Communication) u might lose that with some custom roms

Great thanks for that, I don't spose there is any chance you can help me with the root? like I say ive done many htc's but as you can probably imagine if I brick her phone ill get a smack in the gob lol
im on android - 4.0.4
baseband - 19100PBVLPB
kernel - 3.0.15-19100PBVLPC-CL1020445
now on my htc I use the bootloader to get into fastboot and then send cwm busybox etc via adb to the phone to achieve root. but I've noted this is nothing like that! I need to flash the relevant kernel (which I aint too sure which one yet), how does the kernel get flashed? via odin? that will then give me CWM and in turn allow me to flash a new ROM?
if I cant use cwm to to wipes etc how is that performed instead?
Sorry to be a pain cheers.
P.S. - ive no idea what NFC is or does so I doubt she will haha!!

use a brickbug safe kernel like 'Siyah kernel v5.0.1' to root ur phone (.tar file of the same to be flashed by PC odin).Once installed 'Siyah kernel' on ur phone then u can use the Custom recovery of that kernel to make wipes/backup etc

ok ill see what I can manage now lol
I have noted that when I restart the phone with the 3 buttons pressed odin shows the yellow box but only for a second then it goes away again... any ideas? infact what actually happens is if the phone is switched on the box is yellow however when I put it into recovery mode to flash using odin it disappears and doesn't come back?
