Speakerphone Echo - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Anyone else experiencing the other party complaining of an echo when your using speakerphone? I’ve read that it may be an issue with some cases, so I removed mine and had a few tests with no good results. I’m trying to narrow the problem down to either software or hardware related. I have lightly blown out both microphones and both speakers with compressed air. running uclf6 flapjaxxx latest update

I have the same problem - Revolt ROM. Any progress?

I have tried two roms now (ReVolt, SlimBeam), and BOTH are producing the 'echo' issue on speakerphone. Does anyone have a handle on this or can they point me in the right direction to fix? Search has not been helpful so far.
Thanks!

The last ROM I ran that didn't have the speaker phone echo was the JamieD81 SlimBean 20130420 build. I believe there were some changes in the CM10.1 code that all the devs for aocp and aokp ROMs use that is causing this. That's just my guess though, I'm only a user not a developer. The only way I've found to get around the problem is to plug in my ear buds when I use speaker phone.

Yes I have noticed it on all of the CM10.1 based roms Collective, Pandroid, but on BlackStar no issue.

You're right about the Black Star ROM. It's built from the new 4.1.2 Samsung release and not on the CM 10.1 base. I did downgrade to the official Samsung release and didn't have echo nor on a debloated and deodexed version of it although it wasn't Black Star. And while I appreciate that we finally got an official release they were a little late to the party as far as I'm concerned. I'll take the occasional bugs in the CM 10.1 variants along with the speaker phone echo. Looking back to when we first got JB last summer the devs have made tremendous improvements and brought us options and customizations that the stock ROMs will never have.

[Q] Call quality with cm7 on Vibrant

I have recently installed the latest (at the time) nightly of cm7 for my Vibrant. Ever since I've been getting lots of complaints from the people I'm talking two that my voice keeps dropping off during the call. Has anybody else experienced something like this?
Any idea if there is another ROM I could try that would improve this?

What specific version are you running? Check in Settings > About phone.
Upgrade to the latest nightly. If you're not running 7-20120402 or higher then you still have the tunnel voice bug.
That might be the answer. I'm running 7-20120330.
I'll install that build as soon as I can. Thanks.

[Q] Headset Microphone cutting in and out on Task's AOKP 5.1.12/Siyah v3.2rc1

I've searched for this problem, found some stuff that is close but I haven't been able to find it exactly.
Speakerphone and built-in microphone work fine.
But when I use my headset (Bose MIE2), the microphone fades in and out when I am on a call. People say it will sound fine and then start to sound "tinny" or like I'm "in a can". Seems like this happens when I stop talking and they speak and the background noise becomes louder to the caller. And it doesn't last. It fades in and out, several times on a call.
This headset worked fine on stock AT&T Gingerbread.
About two months ago, I decided to root my phone for the first time and install a modded ROM. So I flashed CM7. Headphone mic worked fine on CM7.
Bose microphone was also working fine on CM9 - one of the early release candidates.
At that point, flashing became easy so I started on the nightlies (I'm sounding like an addict, aren't I? I feel like one!!!).
Then I found my dream flasher/pusher, Task! I've been on AOKP ROM (currently up to date on the 5.1.2012 release) ever since. Awesome ROM, if you haven't tried it.
Still having the headphone mic issue though.
I've wiped fully several times (yes, I read every post in your thread, Task), trying to clear this up.
I also wondered if the headphones where jacked so I returned them to Bose and the new pair is presenting the same issue.
I have read all about the built-in mic swapping issues with the different kernels.
I've tried NEAK and Siyah and I'm careful to be sure I have the mic swapping versions for AOKP/CM. My phone does not like NEAK at all. Loves Siyah - getting fantastic battery life (14 hours today, 27% screen time and WiFi on all day with 20% battery remaining) and responsive. I'm currently on the latest Siyah ICS [v3.2rc1] with UC 200 to 1000, lulz/vr only. It is also awesome, thanks, Ktoonsez!
I'm wondering if that mic swapping on the phone has anything to do with the mic on the headset.
Also, is there anything else I can check to help troubleshoot this in more detail?
Finally, are there any controls for headphone mics or even microphone settings in ROM Control or anywhere else that can be adjusted?
Thanks for your help in advance!
The NEAK kernel only has one choice for Tasks rom, no need to pick between mic swap.

I'm wishing it was that simple. On NEAK, I've tried the AOSP - still have the issue. My phone freezes too often on that kernel.
On Siyah, I get the mic swap version for AOKP/CM - still having the issue.
The latest Siyah runs like a beast and gets fantastic battery, just has the fading issue.

Problem with Vanilla Rootbox, minor

Just installed the latest Vanilla Rootbox rom on my Note 2 and after trying many different roms, this is BY FAR my favorite. However, as with all AOSP/AOKP/CM roms I've had the exact same issue, which to be honest is minor considering. To the point, I'm looking for a way to enable the second microphone for in call noise cancellation. When is use a TW rom my GF says that I sound great, but on any other form of rom she complains about hearing static when I'm driving, my AC running in the background ect.. It has to be dead quite for her to hear and understand me :/ Any fixes? Or is this just the way these roms run?

Try Plasma kernel and tweak with the settings in STweaks under audio, I posted my settings in the Plasma thread and have no issues with anyone hearing me whatsoever.

[Q] Speakerphone Echo with CM based roms

I have searched quite a bit for an answer/fix for the speakerphone echo that occurs only with CM based roms. I haven't seen anything regarding this in any of the CM ROM theads. What's happening is, when Im on the phone with someone and I switch to speakerphone the person I'm talking to complains about their voice echoing back to them.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
me too
Im in insert coin rom , im start face this issue , i do think its mic issue
I've noticed it on the ViperDNA rom as well as NuSense and NuSense 6 roms. I see it on Skype and Hangouts. It probably has something to do with the kernels that are used for the 4.2+ roms. The last time I recollect I had these apps working fine was when I was on a stock VZW rom back in December '13.
Bump
Update your firmware. Speaker works fine on NuSenseSIX.

pac man rom has echo on callers end

I don't have 10 post so I can post anything in the actual thread, upon installing the Pacman rom and even the liquid smooth rom, the caller has a echo on their end. I've installed some random rom "fre" or something along them lines and the echo went away. It seems it's just these 2 roms. Anyone know a fix or what the cause is?

It's not the roms, you have managed to hit the cell tower on a couple of bad cells. I don't think AOSP roms have the ability to update the PRL so that won't help. They are probably working on the cell towers in your callers area.

Actually it was the rom, after switching through various roms that did not have the zion kernel it finally fixed. Putting the phone on speaker would fix the issue. ( with zion kernel )
Currently running the kitkatkiller rom with beast mode rage kernel and all is sorted out.
I actually work on cell towers, the current sprint upgrades going on are operational the same day the upgrade takes place. With the exception of the 2.5ghz project which is being installed but not active yet.
Thanks.
