Walkman - Xperia Series v/s Walkman Series - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Anyone compared the music quality of Our Xperia Phones and Our good Old Walkman Phones ???

I have a [email protected] but many years ago I dropped it from a 2nd floor of my house. Since that day the cellphone can't even power on. I tried to flash it (error), charging all the night (nope) l, and I lost the 4gb m2 memory card haha, but the sound was very good with the hpm-85 headphones and amplifier (yes, that cable works like and amplifier).
Oooh, good old times...

Can't really remembered my old walkman.
But the sound quality on the tablet s is far better than Xperia S & Arc.
Probably it due to tegra vs snapdragon

Actually i did compare the audio quality of my XS with LWW sometime ago, and i didn't notice any appreciable difference in quality!

The Quality of my XS is Amazing. The sound of my Tablet S is not so good
Gesendet von meinem Sony Tablet S mit Tapatalk

i think that the most important difference is on the headphones i have my xperia s on stock rom with walkman and a use it with my old walkman headphones the ones that came with my old w880 and i can say that the soud is the same great thing but with the stock sony headphones that came with my XS the soud is good but not as good as the walkmans one and yes sony is doig something about the volume my XS souds lower than my ex w880 but samen great sound

Xperia Sola audio quality

I love listing music and audio quality of the headphone is very important to me
My Xperia mini has excellent audio quality, it's alot better than my Nokia 5530
also It did a good job in GSMarena audio test
Now I'm looking for new phone and I thing Xperia Sola is the best new Xperia devices considering the price
But It's too bad in term of audio quality it's even worse than xperia's 2012 phones (depending on GSMarena tests)
So if Anyone has this phone can compare it with any other xperia phone I will appreciate it.
Thanks,

M using Sola n the "sound quality" (not talkin about volume) is pretty good as compare to other phones not other Xperia '12 phones
It's Sony despite of everything sound quality is always good atleast than Nokia

Sony is always better than Nokia in terms of multimedia quality
Considering your replay I think GSMarena didn't test the final version unit because the Xperia U (same as Xperia Sola hardware) did great gob in audio quality test.
I'm sure that Xperia Sola isn't that bad
Thank you for your useful replay...

Lost my Xperia S, What would other Xperia S owners would get as replacement?

Hey fellow Xperia S owners / Sony Android phone owners.
Last Friday night I lost my beloved Xperia S, and I'm still suffering.. I know the Sony Xperia S is not perfect by any means but I loved mine. I loved the looks with the transparent antenna strip, I loved the HDMI connection separate from the USB connection (Charging while Viewing Netflix for ex.) and even though I had a small show of yellow tint issue, it was not something that bothered me at all. I also loved the fact that is not a common phone (I'm yet to find someone else in person with one). Last but not least I had also familiarized with the phone, it's firmwares, ICS running fine finally, and this xda-developers Xperia S Forum of course.
So right now I'm stuck with the Phone I was given for free from my Carrier, an LG Optimus L5 (crappy phone), even though it has ICS, it's so inferior that it only makes me miss my Xperia S even more
Ok so I need to get me a new phone, and I can say I rather have another Sony phone, so I see that there are already a few models that are coming out soon: Xperia T (Flagship, Skinny Design) and Xperia V(Love the Water-resistant aspect, but Lacks on Front Camera Resolution) , but Like I've said before I really loved the Transparent Antenna Strip, and loved having the Illumination Bar App which would Blink Fast for a Missed Call, or Slow for a new SMS; So I'm also aware of the existence of the Sony Xperia SL (Overclocked CPU to 1.7Ghz compared to the 1.5Ghz on the Xperia S but still an S3 vs The S4 on the newer models T and V), but I can't find any reviews or benchmarks of the Xperia SL making it even harder for me to decide.
So that is the situation, I would like to know what other fellow XDA members would do in my case and/or what are the recommendations.
Sony Xperia T
Sony Xperia V
Sony Xperia SL
Sony Xperia S
Other ?
How do you lost it? I can't see someone losing a phone lol. But that doesn't matter. I'd pick up the Xperia T
"I got my values. So you can keep yours, OK?"
He probably misplaced it and cannot for the life of him recall where he might have left it. I've done that with an MP3 player or two.
I'd get another S. If the V becomes available by the time you make your decision (and it's reasonably priced), consider the V.
I don't even want think about it but I got really f*cked up in party @ a club on Friday and I sat on a couch and had the phone on my lap and I guess I just dropped it on the floor when I leaned to the side to throw up :banghead: .. so there you go, that's what happened
I would like to know if the CPU running at 1.7GHz on the Xperia SL helps on making the ICS OS smoother without hiccups and makes the phone more responsive, and also if the speed bump drains the battery a lot faster than the Xperia S. But I can't find any info on it

On, I see. That's bad... I really don't know... I guess the performance will be slightly better, but dunno about battery
Enviado de meu Xperia S usando o Tapatalk 2
Motorola Razr HD: good and solid design, big battery, skin close to stock Android.
Nokia Lumia 920: beautiful unique design, good camera, cool new technologies (IMO most are gimmick but you may think differently), good screen.
iPhone5: beautiful beautiful beautiful and classy design (I really cant get enough of how pretty it is), good screen, good camera.
Honestly if I had the money I'd buy all of them
you know what i would go for the xperia T. having SL is like and S with overclocked cpu, nevermind the transparent strip, go fot the T its an S4 krait .
Xperia SL in silver...prettiest one among the bunch
Xperia T
I would go for the Xperia T or TX if you have to upgrade soon. The device looks very solid, and Sony has learned from the S.
If the V is available to you and the price is right, that's my second pick.
If I lost my Xperia, I would get a galaxy s (the original one) root and flash jb, change the battery, my wife has that now, easy 2 days with daily use (she uses it for work). Would be a good backup for when ur looking for another phone cheap as well, if u lose phones a lot has a nice screen and light

In the future, unless you're loaded and can afford to buy a new phone every few months, install something like Cerberus anti-theft on it. You have a high chance of finding it.

I suggest Xperia SL... But if you want a waterproofed version of the Xperia S + extended memory... Get Xperia Acro S.... I tried 64GB micro SD on my Acro S and it still works like a charm... With root. Haha 32gb external memory cap under sony acro s is FULSE!

when i would care about price/performance ratio it would be again the xperia s ...
when i don't care about that and i'd like a high end device it would be the xperia v
I would probably buy a P if I lost mine

get the T, end of the story really.
Depends on your demand of usage. Though i'll get the new Xperia T. Bond is the game lol nah seriously! it beats S3 n HTC on some serious level plus i have my faith on the new gen snapdragon chipsets & surely the battery can always be tweaked! my Xperia S runs for about 16-17hrs with normal usage so Mr.T can run longer or even perform better and definitely faster! Else, i will wait for the announced S4 PRO LG optimus G (Quads+2150mAh battery) but then again, i never actually liked the way LG looks. Xperia is the beauty with brain
or u could ship the TX from China , It dosent have that illumination bar but the XPERIA LOGO GLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHITE
like ur s
Consider HOX tegra variant mate, i flash it with Renovate rom and never look back.

Its a great phone with great specs...
it has two shortcomings:
1. Non expandable memory! (though there is otg support)
2. Pathetic sony ics software!
Rest is good...brilliant phone except those 2 drawbacks!

Pros:
Low price dual core phone
multicolor light bar
front cam
ICS
5 MP main shooter
Mali 400 GPU
Bravia Engine
Cons:
Avg. pic quality
Only 4 gb user accessible memory
Not upgradeable to official Jelly bean
No external memory card support
3.5" screen but looks kinda small 'cause of 16:9 aspect ratio
Thats all i can think right now.
If you can live with ICS then instead of U go for Sola-great phone but if you crave for JB then go for P.
Here's a HEADS UP
Sony will release a 16k INR priced budget phone with a 4 inch display (FWVGA) and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in the next 2 months, wait for it and BUY IT! Better than any 2012 phone
This phone will pack a Dual Core Krait and 1 GB of RAM as well.

Great bang for the buck, bought mine for 170 euros brand new last year. Lack of storage is not an issue for me, the only thing i wish it had is a bit more RAM (380MB is a tad small, at least real 512MB would be fine)

Really good phone _for_it's_price_! I mean every game I tried on it is smooth-semi smooth. To be honest on Gingerbread, the games performs much better than on ICS. Not just because there are more RAM available on GB, but I think the ICS driver for the GPU is a littlebit off, and it presents much slower/laggier gaming experience.
Not to meniton Camera... Ah, yes. So on ICS there is only MONO audio recording while recording video, and on GB the stereo is quite good! It's even got surround, if you watch the videos with headphones on, you will be surprised that you can easily know where is the sound coming (binaural recording, someone?).
To be honest I think Sony not made qiute a good job with ICS. So for me this phone is better with GB.
The manufacturing quality is good, really good. If you not get the cap off the phhone, it will never get lousy. Screen quality is awesome too.
Sony showed me that they have really good designers. OK, it's my own opinion, but I prefer sony design over any other brand's.
So far I love this phone, and the LED bar is just the tip of the iceberg
The phone specifications are definitely great however I was quite disappointed after ICS update, it took them so long to release it and it simply looks ugly for me. I rooted it, disabled a lot of programs so I get ~125 MB free ram and now using Holo launcher with stock lockscreen. Very nice bang for the buck.

Source? And how is that better than any 2012 phone? The Xperia S, Ion, Acro S, V, T are all better
All I know this laggiest phone I ever had even on GB settings lag and games perform way worse than they did on Live with Walkman.
Best phone for GB.
if you can tweak it a little and get rid of all the useless apps that sony gives in it, its quite a beast! at least for the money you pay for it! There are some great light custom ics or gb roms for it, works great whith those.
Mine runs better on ICS..I didn't tweak even a bit. Its close to jelly bean for me.
I m using generic .54 build by pipi..
Awesome phone and love the media apps!
Just a little tip guys, Enable FORCE 2D ACCELERATION in dev settings and your phone will fly.
When I bought it, I was thinking it will get nice ICS, and later good JB update. Now Im disappointed - ICS is laggy as hell, camera quality and speed is poor, game performance is low, even with ~150 free ram there are trouble with some games. Old GB is wayyyyy better.
I make mistake and didnt check bluetooth before buing - its only 2.1 and theres no way connecting phone to elm327 car adapter.
I regret selling my GalaxyS...

i love my xperia U a lot.....
never had any problem with it....
using cm11 on it..
just loved it(except for less memory)....
I bought Xperia U one and half year ago! It's a awesome device, considering his price.
Xperia P, good phone to daily use. Nice screen, good camera, good sound, clear voice connections. ****ty battery.
I own a Sola, Nice hardware, bad software.
Got myself a nexus 4.
I beginning to love my Xperia P thanks to the devs
The stock ROM was laggy, with a lot of bugs... Bad experience... Now I have CM11 and it works like a charm
Very fast, with good performance with almost good battery life. Of course, battery life depends of usage.
I loved my XSola but after it got 3 times repaired I don't want to have itanymore, just too much trubles. I sent it back
Really happy with my Sola even if the ICS update pretty much destroyed the battery-life, made the phone extremely laggy and lead me to look into all this rooting and custom-rom business. Currently enjoying a smooth experience with CM11 and battery life seems to be not too far off from the original stock-GB.
I'm either extremely lucky or my phone is abnormally durable because I have not yet bricked it despite fumbling around a lot trying to figure out how to install roms and flash kernel. Also, the phone has been subjected to pretty extreme conditions and gotten away unscathed; high temperatures, low temperatures, high humidity, shaking and rattling, all kinds of gases and fumes, strong electromagnetic fields and radiation.
Size is close to perfect and my only complaint is the low amount of ram which is becoming an issue with newer apps. I've been following the news about Xperia Z1 Compact's successor, but the price will probably be bit too much for my taste.
They could have bothered putting some more extra RAM, the battery is also a bit undersized but hardly as troubling (still gets through an average day fine). The screen size and quality is a big pro, so are lightbar notifications with the right software (talking about which, the power LED is extremely dim, did I get a bad phone or is it designed this way?)
Having paid like 120 € for my U, (but the same place was selling the Go -that actually has worse hardware- for 180!!) I think it was worth the price, on par with the year older Optimus One P500 a friend bought and got me interested in Android
Then again I'm biased by my first Android phone being an Ace 2, with a similiar architecture but 1- (potentially, given the right software) outperforming the U in almost every capability, 2- having switched after 4 years of iPhones and 3- nothing beats free products
I like my P, it's good looking, durable (dropped it few times) and incredibly fast with CM 11. Battery capacity is small though but I can deal with that.
Previosly I had Xperia X10 Mini, oh boy that thing was a beast.
There's no phone in the world like Sony's.

Well, i got to say that Samsung's are the best , but Sony's phones are the most elegant ( also i think that the illumination bar is a great idea, the size of the xperia U is well "thinked" ...if i want a 4.5 inches , i'll buy a tablet)
Never the less, i got a locked bootloader , it's something i could'nt choose as i was buying it. That point is a shame !! :crying:
i've got an xperia u, a good year and a half old now
inconsistent battery life (sometimes i get 12 hours, sometimes i get 2 days both with medium use) and that stupid illumination bar (why nobody managed to create something that permanently shuts it off is beyond me) are the biggest cons
i like its build quality, size and design. for its price it was the best deal back then.
currently running a jb rom on it which is smoother than stock ics but functions like usb tethering and wifi hotspot don't work which is kind of a bummer. it's another pet peeve of mine, ten million buggy roms got released over the past 2 years and not one of them work perfectly.

Upgrade options?

Hi guys. First of all I'd like to apologise if I've posted in the wrong section. This section seemed more relevant to me.
I currently have a xperia s. My upgrade is due next week. I want to ask what is the best phone now? I wanna go to the Z2 but I'm double minded. Has the z2 been upgraded to kitkat? What you guys think?

I've had it for 3 days and so far 3 complaints.
1. front camera is really bad in low light (except when you use the camera app) in for example snapchat.
2. A lot of noise when i record (although it might be i was holding on the mic)
3. My phone looks too good so others get jelous. And I feel sorry for them for having so small phones (iPhone).
My few issues are double tap screen on barely works for me.
For me using my bose earphones the music is not loud enough for me its about 2 notches too low.
Earpiece quality could be a lil better, but its ok.

I got my Z2 yesterday and so far I haven't seen many problems at all, awesome battery life, I haven't seen a better rear camera aside from the reported overheating recording 4k and hd which I haven't seen, but I haven't recorded much. I came from the Galaxy S3 and it's a huge improvement. Upto now I have no regrets about my upgrade.
If you want my opinion.. It's perfect ? phone.. The only problem I had is the heat in the camera when recording 4K videos which I believ. It's software issue and can be solved in the next updates.

Thank you guys. I much appreciate your opinions. I think after a long thought I'll be going for the z2. I am a bit of a xperia fanboy lol

For the current 2014 models, Z2 for me is the best choice. S5 could have been good except the design is almost the same as my S2 which is good 3 yrs ago but sooo dated for 2014. S4 looked better for me. M8 is almost good except for the camera and the software support. HTC is still not doing well so I have little confidence with the company as of now.
The only phone that is better than Z2 will be the upcoming S5 Prime, M8 Prime and G3. If S5 Prime was launched instead of the normal S5, I might have bought the S5 Prime.
The only con I have with Z2 is the voice quality sounds like mono. The voice is loud and clear but the voice doesn't sound natural.

good choice, this is my first xperia phone and im really liking it, i do have a few small issues tho (nothing that makes me want another phone tho)
1) rooting....... only an issue coz my previous android phones have been samsungs, it's all different over at sony, when i first checked about rooting i was like why is there no recovery installed, wtf is a bootloader,
2) speakers volume...... they just seem too quiet, ive missed a few texts when my phones been in my pocket and i just havent heard it, not loud enough when playing music... having said that, they do sound good, cant fault the sound quality just the volume.
3) sometimes the tap to wake function takes a few tries before it wakes
4) bloody homescreen doesnt know what landscape is without the help of magnet
5) glass back........ ive dropped it a few times already, n everytime after a huge sigh of relief i realize i should peel the case off and hope the backs fine too grrrrr
6)............ nah can't think of another 1, except maybe that i can connect my ps4 controller to it, but i cant use it for remote play like a vita, that sucks lol, actually im gonna email sony n tell them they need to make this possible
Finally got my z2 so far loving it
