Hi,
I have a GT-I9300 and recently rootet via Odin and CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar. After that, I was properly rootet, but there was no CWM Recovery console, just the regular one.
Then I started Odin again and tried it with recovery-cwm-touch-6.0.1.2-i9300.tar
Now I have the CWM-Symbol on my Drawer but it says, that "This version of CWM MAnager should be used with CF-CWM v.1.1 or newer. It appears you are running a different recovery"
What can I do now?
Thanks for your help in advance!
is this touvh recovery v. 6 ? then it's only for jelly bean. if you are on ics i would try CWM v5
i uncheked Auto-Reboot and took out the battery after flashing. Now it works!

DO nothing ..that CWM app has some features which are incompatible..just use it to boot into recovery and do whatever you want to do manually..
forget about the error popup..just dismiss it..

Just re-root with CF-Root and all should be fixed mate
Thanks, mate. I didn't have the chance to try your solution out. I did the following.
Flash with just clockworkmodrecovery without Autoreboot in Odin.
Take battery out
Boot into recovery with VolUp+Home+Power
CWM Recovery pops up
Installed Resurruction Remix Custom Rom which comes with Touch-Version of CWM
Runs perfect smooth, and super fast! And Ive got the CWM Recovery console.
I should have switched to Android much earlier, coming from iPhone and Blackberries. It's amazing how cool some Custom Roms are

Hey everyone, ive searched all over and havent been able to find a solution.
I've followed the instructions on how to root using CF-ROOT (odin) and successfully rooted and booted into cwm and installed Resurection remix 1.0.. Everything works great, except when i try to reboot and go back into CWM i get android system recovery <3e> and not cwm.
The only way to recover is to install cwm or cfroot from odin again and reinstall the rom.
Any idea what i'm doing wrong? thanks
Don't know, try to change rom and see if it happens again... I'm on v3rtr3ma and is really good.. Tried also wanamlite 9.9..

That reads as the rom you are using has no built in CWM recovery .
Logic says ask the rom builder or in his post .

Like JJEgan says, the ROM then sound like it comes with its own kernel, that DOESN'T have CWM recovery, but standard Android recovery. ROMs come with their own kernels, so every time you flash kernel first, then ROM, you are replacing the CF-root kernel, thus losing CWM recovery.
Just re flash the CF-root kernel to get it back after you flash the ROM. There is no need to flash the ROM again after you flash the kernel.
Try installing Rom Manager and make a recovery once installed (top item in rom manager)

correct me if im wrong.
you're REINSTALLING the rom, after you flash CF-ROOT? if you reinstall the rom, then cwm will be deleted.
You can use this temporary signed CWM zip.In recovery, choose apply update from storage and flash the zip and you get CWM. When you reboot, it will be gone.
This was taken from Here
You better take a look here for further information.

If he's installing CF-root, CWM and ROM Manager tend not to play nice together.
Look in the Resurection Remix OP!
After you installed Resurection Remix let it boot and flash CWM-zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854. That should give you 2nd recovery.

NOTE: İF YOU WANT FLASH SOMETHİNG FROM CWM RECOVERY FİRST YOU MUST İNSTALL CWM.ZİP FROM STOCK RECOVERY MOD(APPLY UPDATE FROM EXTERNAL STORAGE AND CHOOSE CWM.ZİP AND İNSTALL)
AND NOW TOUCH RECOVERY MODE WİLL APPEAR THAN YOU CAN FLASH ZİP FİLES

But the moment you flash CWM.ZIP, recovery mode is reloaded and you can flash anything...

LOL, indeed, reading the first post of the ROM thread is a good idea too.
OP, as gee2012 notes, there is a NOTE in the Resurrection Remix thread in all caps, right under the "Rom Installation (please don`t miss any step! )" section.
On an unrelated note: gee2012, you of Chinese descent?
EDIT: Whoops! didn't see jakezpeenz's post. Sorry, not meaning to repeat what a bunch of other people already said.
I can confirm
hi
I can confirm that after installing ICS remix you need to flash the cwm tar thru Odin after you install ICS to get CWM
I had to do it yesterday
Hello all,
Yesterday I have Installed ClockworkMod Recovery v.5.8.1.5, on samasung galaxy s2 and while chceking its options available i accidently clicked the rebot recovery option in advanced, it stated rebooting i suppose the numbers are going on so i shutdown the phone and when i restarted in recovery mode it is showing old recovery not the new CWM touch, i reinstalled it again itworks but whenever i am going in recovery mode i have to install CWM. Today i again done rebot recovery thinking it will solve the problem but it is showing numbers going on, please help me.
Thanks

How did you actually install Recovery?

I would advise against using Rom Manager.Ive tried to boot into recovery from there on 2 phones and it freezes, whether I dont use it properly or it wipes out my cwm install I dont know, but it did. Then I had a hell of a job flashing stock>rerooting>getting my nand backup cos I needed custom recovery.
I was thinking it was when you use it to download a recovery option and it wipes out/overwrites the working one you had.
Exactly

Rom Manager doesn't behave well with the s2. It will give you the recovery you download through it but reverts back to your previous recovery when you next boot up.
I'd say stop using it now.
it's my first time to write something and i m even good at English. well, long story short. i've flashed several Wanam rom since the ics and recently when i flashed the Wanam v3.0, i find something wrong that every time i use CWM, it always reminds me like the pic shows, so i came here for help, what should i do now?View attachment 1311680
What CWM are you using? It only works with the CWM chainfire has provided in his CF-root package.
Requires CF Root version 5 to work with CWM manager from original dev section .

CWM is not compatible with Jelly Bean regardless of which recovery you have.
I still have chainfires CWM recovery anf get the same error because I'm running a JB rom.

thanks, now i know whats the problem since i m running JB too
I had the problem also - I now use CF-Root and ROM Manager - at least I think I still use CF-Root - with Mobile Odin it re-roots, adds SuperSU and itself into the ROM I flash. A new ROM usually gets a message from Odin about needing to download something to let it flash my device that is about 6MB so I guessed that is CF-Root.
With ROM Manager you can flash CWM, restart into Recovery without bothering with the 3 finger salute, (Vol-Up+Menu+Power) and also flash CWM Touch - meaning you can use the touch screen in recovery instead of all those key presses. I haven't gone Premium on RM yet but I am planning to...

Don't panic,follow the steps:
1-Root e recovery with cf-root
2-download rom ( zip.packages) If you see any error messages or the procedure stops, then the packet of cooked rom may be corrupted.
Re-download and re-install from the beginning..
3-If the first boot takes more than 20-30 minutes, manually restart the phone by removing the battery or by pressing and holding for 10 seconds the power button.
If the problem persists, perform a hard reset .
4-If the phone restarts all the time, back in recovery mode and re-install, also performing the hard reset.
5-If your phone will not boot up, go into download mode and try to install a firmware via odin, performing a hard reset.
i tried installing a stock rom then flashing over that i have installed a ics one and jb one...didn't work...the problem is not with the booting itself but with the flashing like i said every rom flashes in like 5 seconds...it tells me it;s done and everything went fine but when i reboot i can't get past the samsung logo before the boot animation, so practically the rom doesn't flash...i dont know why...odin works great....but i can't flash through CWM. I wanted to try TWRP recovery also but i can't seem to find one for the international version of SGS3...Please help:crying:

You cannot install CWM recovery unless you root your phone. . Did you try going to recovery using button combo?? Sometimes, if roots after you manually go into recovery.
If not done, download Galaxy S3 unified toolkit and root using that.

If the cf root procedure was successful I wouldn't worry about installing a diff recovery just yet, lets get the phone booting 1st. Download a custom rom and get it moved onto your external sd card, Boot into recovery(from power off, press volume up, home button and power), make sure its custom and not default. Then install the custom rom zip and reboot it should hopefully fully reboot. then look into installing a newer custom recovery.

yes, saw it. its a custom rom. tried wipe data / cache but didn't work. will try to install custom rom sentinel now.
was able to install the custom rom but kept on rebooting after few minutes. it already happened thrice now.
anything i am missing?
It could be the insecure kernel you used earlier is making it unstable, probably if the custom rom doesn't install a kernel. Only thing I can think of is install an official Samsung g3 rom which should repair all the partitions that might of been damaged or corrupted, use it for a while to make sure no reboots. Then go through root and install of custom rom again. In theory creating a good foundation to install a custom rom on.
Just out of curiosity did u download an official Samsung rom before starting to flash in case u need to send it away or sell it on? If not what network/country are u using? Is the phone locked to the network or unlocked?
Edit:- I never used a kernel flash to root my phone just used cf root 6.4 to get root and custom recovery cwm. I only changed my recovery this weekend to Phil touch.
