Changing firmware - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Apologies for hijacking Xperia S thread, but there's no TX thread yet.
I just received my TX this morning and it's awesome. Unfortunately, it's a Chinese version, so there are no Google services on the phone. Is there any way in which to change the firmware region of the phone in any way?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Just go to SEUS or PC Comp and chose another country. Then, upgrade.

Factory Unlocked X10i Firmware Update?

Hi all,
I just got my X10i and its factory unlocked, I have one question. My firmware is still 1.0.14 and SEUS and PC Companion tells me its the most recent firmware. I'm wondering are there anyone else who have a factory unlocked X10i that are still stuck at the 1.0.14 firmware? Also, is it normal for the phone to not have the firmware upgrade despite it being out for around a month ago? Thanks!
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm in the US.
There is another thread that discusses ways to get the newer firmware. Please go search and read up in that thread.

I have a unlocked 10i and I live in the usa and I was able tp get the update. I'm starting to think that getting a update comes down to random luck
Hey Guys,
You may want to verify that the hardware and the firmware match.
When the X10i/a first came out, a solution for debranding became available which entailed using a generic firmware. Unfortunately what ended up happening was that X10a that were flashed to X10i (and vice versa) were said to be no longer supported by SEUS.
Remove your battery and verify that it's an X10i, then go to your service menu and verify that the firmware is also for an X10i.
If the two do not match, don't worry...there is a way to fix it;
http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/04/28/rebranding-your-xperia-x10-tutorial/
Thanks for the responses! I'm pretty sure mines is an X10i running on generic firmware as its factory unlocked to begin with. On a side note I checked the service menu and under Model Info and it says, "Brand: Customized", what does this mean? I'm starting to think the updates depend on version of the phone. I have a Singapore version so that's probably why I can't update yet.
very nice sir
i want to update.my phone is only vibrate, sometime power on butwithy sim
restart ? Any idea?

sadly SEUS tells me any time i connect to it ..that i have latest update !!!
From what you have said it seems the 2.1 isnt out on your network, I'm going to assume your phone is branded. By that i mean, locked to your provider with a customised firmware. If you cannot wait i suggest rooting and debranding, i believe you can visit this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793 . thats the one i used as i am also rather noobish, however its easy to follow and will flash 2.1 on your phone.
Hope this helps
@puremods -
from your arc unlock screen -
press the following keys
Menu back back menu
back menu menu back
go into the service info menu..
go into model info..
tell us what it says in there...
^ guy above me, i have the same problem im not very tech savvy but i did the secret menu thing and it said
country: Singapore
Carrier: Singtel
anyway, Im on T-Mobile USA, and i heard there is update out (2.1) in Singapore, but my phone says its up to date its still on 020 firmware.
is there a way to update to 2.1 without rooting, i heard of the flash tool but the guy didn't give very clear instructions.
so if someone can link me to that thread and also give me VERY detailed instructions it would be greatly appreciated.
i worked in a college cafeteria for a year just to save up enough money for my x10 and im not going to risk bricking it by doing something wrong
Mine says
Model x10i
Country: Global Generic
Brand: Generic
Which method would be best for me to upgrade? Using SEUS doesnt work, when i boot it in flash mode and press enter on the program, nothing downloads.
Sorry for posting in your thread, i just dont want to open another one.
@vengeance1990
Thanx for helping ...i hope if this link will help ...but still don't know which file i have to download
cause my experience in phone softwares and programming is little
@ im_iceman : this sequence is not working
i did it many times and still nothing
@ im_iceman:
sorry it works
model info is
Model:x10i
Country: Mena Arabic (b)
Brand customized
and if u want the software info tell me too
Ok.. unless you want to wait for your official f/w to be released you'll need to root (suggest downloading the oneclick root app - This is the simplest as it does exactly what it says on the tin!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7913568&postcount=338
install the apk file on your phone and run it...
Then follow the instructions here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828163
Job done.

Sounds like your phone is branded to singtel.. so like puremoods you'll either need to wait, or follow the instructions I gave to him...

It says I have newest software, but I'm on .67

Hi guys.
Sorry if I'm opening to many threads here, but Im still on firmware .67.
I just connected to Update Service and it said that there was no new updates but I was able to go throu a update, dunno what it was, but it deleted everything on my phone.
So I checked now, and still on .67. PC companion also says I have newest software.
But I'm still on .67 and a bootloader that can't be unlocked! WTF do I do now? I want the latest firmware!

maybe you should start reading the dialogs that appear on your computer screen instead?
you just reflashed your phone to last available software that did a factory reset. If you dont know what you are doing then DONT pursue this further - start reading on the forums how things work step by step otherwise you will end up with expensive paperclip.
.73 is only available in some random regions with some of the main ones left out.
If you go over to the dev section you can find .73 Singapore generic which you can up date to without unlocking bootloaders or rooting.
Without a changelog we dont know what sony fixed in .73 to me doesnt seem like a lot other than wifi on draws a little less power
Oh damn it.
Many other people in my country have received the update, so it's strange that I have not.
EDIT: So I can update to .73 Singapore generic? Is that safe, singapore? Will my menus still be in Norwegian? And don't it need to be a norwegian generic version?
No offical .73 in finland either

I am on the Singapore .73 generic, and you can choose to change the phone Language to Norwegian via Settings (so that your menus are in Norwegian).

UK user in Singapore needs urgent assistance from someone in Singapore with odin

Hello I am UK user in Singapore for a couple of months.
I soft bricked my phone and need urgent assistance from someone in Singapore with odin. I only need to be able to flash kernel tar. Download mode is working, but that's it.
Samsung service centre offered to flash with Singapore firmware but only if I sign a waiver, oh, and I'll lose root until I return to UK in two months.
Anyone who has this and doesn't mind sparing an hour to do this, can you help please?
Thank you
Chris

Hope you're liking sg so far. Why dont you do it yourself. Just install it on your own computer. Easy
Heres odin. (taken fron intratch's thread)
"Instructions: Just extract Odin folder and keep the odin3.ini file in it."
Cheers
No PC my friend. Company laptop tighter than a mosquito's arsehole so that won't work. Have the Odin exe and cfroot tar all on a USB stick, just about to trawl Starbucks for anyone with a PC and a Samsung phone, not hopeful otherwise. Kies for the drivers is a big download for anyone to sit through .
Edit : Just seen androidfirmwares link has stand alone driver pack. That's a bit more palatable.
Singapore is great. It's like Asia in delicious bite-sized chunks
Hi there,
Have tried asking in hardwarezone forum?

I am sure you will find someone who is close to your location and is willing to help.

I went to both Samsung zone and smaller repair centre mentioned in that forum. Neither actually even knew what Odin was and would just run a script that would wipe phone and install generic Samsung Singapore firmware.
actually - what do you know it, my hotel's (Park Royal - just opposite Arab district) PC's for-hire are unlocked enough to allow installation of USB drivers and Odin.
Thanks for nanujra for causing me to look again at the androidfirmwares.net pages for standalone non-Kies drivers.
Job done.
Topic closed. Thanks both

[Q] How to go back to the Source/Original Android Version? For X10MPro

Hey people.
I wanted to know: is there a way to know what was the firmware/android version that came with the phone when i bought it?
Because i already change from 2.1.1.0.A.6 to 2.1.1.C.0.0 and vice-versa and now my firmware is not the original one anymore :S, I'm from Portugal and i don't know what was the Official Firmware/Android Version that came with the phone when i bought it, i want to installed it back to my phone so i can have my phone Original again without having different firmware. And if that is possible, where can i download it?.
I'll give 'Thanks' to good answers.
Cheers :good:

It came with 1.6 when SonyEricsson brought it out, and they provided updates to 2.1, with 2.1.1.C.0.0 being the last one they provided for the x10mini pro. So if you've got that firmware, your phone is still considered original, if that update was available in your region.
If your phone was locked to a specific provider, with their provider specific software (bloatware) installed, you won't be able to get it back to how it was when you bought it.
If you want to make sure you have the last original firmware for your phone for your region, do a repair with PC-Companion or SEUS. And if you had your bootloader unlocked, use S1Tool's restore function to lock it again afterwards. More original than that is impossible.
Now there's another problem, i don't know where i can download a firmware for the Portugal region, the greek firmware works but it has the keyboard problem 'buttons รง and ," that GB roms also have, so i would need to root the phone to fix that.
So there's no way to get the original firmware back :S.
Yes i can always repair with that but...if the firmware is the wrong one 'brazilian firmware for example' then those programs can't find the firmware for the repair.
I hope i never need to repair my phone and that i can stick with the GB roms, they're so much better than original eclair.
Cheers :good:
