Boot 2 Gecko (Mozilla OS) on S3? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone was planning on making a Boot 2 Gecko port for the Galaxy S3? It already has ports on the GNex & S2 which are extremely close devices and have had other successful ports to the S3 (Paranoid Android for example). Others have made this question with no answer, and I'm sure many would appreciate a port.

I built it for gnex but its still not ready for daily use, maybe when the app market isn't invitation only and the get all the bugs ironed out then maybe someone will port it but for the effort involved it just isn't worth it right now.

Thanks for the information looking forward to that day.

[Q] WebOS port SGS2 ?

Hi guys.
HP announced that they are contributing WebOS Open Source.
http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2011/111209xa.html?mtxs=rss-corp-news
So i was thinking. Will it be possible to port it to SGS2 ?
+1 , would love to see this man !
Yeah I hope so
Even considered buying a Pre 3
That would be awsome!

So will it be possible? And does someone want to port it?
That's the question. I hope it will, because that would be awesome!
Android and WebOS are both built on Linux....
they "should" be compatible...problem is...drivers...same issues that CM has with compiling AOSP with our phones, drivers....so, with that said, getting WebOS onto the SGSII "should" be possible, but it would require a team like that of CM to get going....
now, i'm no dev, but i would love to volunteer my SGSII to help out with testing...
I'd donate to this cause!
it's awesome
if it be possible

[Think Tank] Getting some productivity out of our sweet tenderloin, somewhat.

Anyone care to port or help me port the Galaxy Note 10.1's TouchWiz interface. I know it is possible by removing the dependencies and everything else the apps rely on in the framework. I'd like to make this my little project if someone would kindly lend a helping hand in starting this endeavour. I would need major hand holding on this but I'm sure I can do most of the porting myself if someone would help me along the way. I'm just a Themer so I don't know much about coding, but I'm a quick learner

I'm currently running the Memo and Task Manager apps that came with the 1st Gen Galaxy S devices on my TouchPad.
If anyone's interested in this, please let me know.
The attached apk's were made possible by Tortel1210. Copy and paste the apps into /system/apps

Tortel1210 wrote up a great guide on how he got these proprietary apps to run on AOSP here -> http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/porting-touchwiz-apps-for-cm7.html
that would be pretty damn awesome! unfortunately i cant help at all and am completely clueless about programming
Do you wish to port the actual UI (the interface), or just port all of the apps that rely on the framework?

The UI, including the apps would be awesome as a full port. I asked a seasoned port master, Xboxfanj, from the Epic 4G forums to help along with this as a port. As soon as I hear from him on his participation in this project I'll let everyone else know so we can sync up and get this going. I *might be able to get the apps ported by myself, but I'll be sure to post back on my progress, or lack there of.

Hm... OK
I would offer to help, but I have several other projects I'm dedicated to, so I don't really have the time. Good luck though!
cool idea! would be awesome
curious if you got any people to help yet, or just going at it alone?
I'm a bit more interested in seeing that split screen functionality from the note 2 and 10.1 . Too bad I have no programming behind me :banghead:

You mean like this? Kinda old, but was stable. Definitely worth trying (I recommend the CM version)

[Q] Ubuntu Phone OS Images for Verizon?

According to OMGUbuntu!, Canonical will release images and code for the Galaxy Nexus in late February. Seeing as it's the most obtainable, the images will, more than likely, be for the unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus.
I've currently got a Galaxy S3, and seeing as some effort is needed to port them to the CDMA Galaxy Nexus, should I keep the S3, hoping some kind soul will grant me mercy and port it to the S3? I'm more than willing to trade it for the Galaxy Nexus if it means it's easier to get the Ubuntu Phone OS installed on there.
White or black I will trade a vzw nexus for vzw S3

I'm not sure why this needs a poll, given that the answer won't be determined by popular vote.
My understanding is that Ubuntu for Phones for a given device will use the existing Android kernel and drivers for that device. I'm no developer, so does mean Ubuntu could automatically (or with minimal effort) take advantage of the CDMA support already built into the kernel and drivers of CDMA devices? Or would there still be a significant amount of work required?
I won't be surprised if they focus solely on GSM, but if it's easy enough to implement maybe it could eventually happen or be added unofficially. We'll know soon enough.

Looks like it's only out for maguru. Maybe toro will follow in a couple of weeks?
I hope so, really wanted to give Ubuntu a spin.

I wouldn't bother with it yet, it needs more time.. just read the thread

Check here for updates and ports to other devices:

I have a GSM Gnex, so I have no idea how well that particular port works. Be safe and make sure you make a NANDROID backup.

Roms

How come we only have a few ROM's and they galaxy 3 has tons? When can we at least get an official cyanogen?
Uhhh you cant really compare s3 and OG in terms of developments and number of roms.
Obviously s3 has a lot more users than OG.
You shouldnt expect similar amount of developments to be on all devices although we have got some real talented devs.
Have you been seeing ATT OG community for a while?
If you did you must know that for past month there were some bombardment of new developments.
You should be able to see official cm too soon (i hope so too). But cm from nexus 4 ports are very stable and nice too try using then first!

Why don't you build it?

OP have you looked and attempted to install/run the current ROMs available....and since jelly bean was just introduce to this device not more that 2 months ago....
I would say this community is off to a great start, BTW this thread is really not needed.
Thank You.

[Q] Multiwindow - Devs, only you can breathe new life in our Primes

I've seen this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246488 and immediately thought how awesome it would be on our primes.
Any chance od a port?
I'm no dev, and know absolutely nothing of such things, but I'm willing to help to the extent of my abilities, maybe testing and such...
Unluckily that would be a nightmare to port.
