GB is smoother and I updated to ICS and downgraded again, wlan has bugs and some games don't work...
Better stay on gingerbread
But that's only my opinion, other members maybe have other opinions...

Difficult because of the locked bootloader. I would just stay on stock rom and remove the crap. A list for apps which can be uninstalled without risk can be found somewhere here in the forum.
If you want to run a custom rom, you could try a MIUI rom, but there are still some bugs and stock gingerbread firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 or .69 is a nice rom, too and there are less bugs. If you want a different theme maybe use a launcher (holo launcher for ics/jb feeling, miui launcher for miui, go launcher with multiple themes, maybe you could use Launcher 7 for windows mobile screen, just what you want)

if you want better gaming performance is gingerbread, but if you want full ics look although I tried several games ics and work well without lag, but nothing compared to the smoothness of gingerbread is my opinion :highfive:

Sorry for English !
If i can i will stay to GB , but i have update to ICS and i have some bugs... Main bug is that i broke my camera , now i have a worst camera in the world . I downgrade but it still have the camera bug , so don't update , stay to .62

better stick with GB, but if u want u can try upgrade to ICS or custom ICS rom and if u feel not good for u, u can always downgrade to GB with flashtool

First of all: about ics:
It has a nice ui and is smooth
But Performance is bader:
In ICS battery is draininge 2-4 percent per hour (Standby)
In gb battery is draining Max. 0.5 percent per hour (Standby)
GB runs much faster and smoother without lags,You can almost play every game with gb in ics Games are laggy and gaming is Not comfortable
You can Try my Rom if You wan See signature its for locked bootloader so You want lose warranty

Thanks all for your answers, i think imma saty with the stock GB, wich is the last version for my W19a?

Latest is 4.0.2.A.0.62 and it should be available ota (=over the air). Just start update center and search for the update, you should find it (if you aren't currently on .62!)
Only do that if you have a locked bootloader (*#*#7378423#*#*>service info > configuration > Rooting status > bootloader unlocked allowed: yes/no)

You should be able to flash a new one with flashtool, but I don't know if flashing a WT19i on WT19a is clever, cause the difference is baseband related?! (Correct me if that's wrong)
Here you can find a 4.0.2.A.0.58, that could be the latest. But I don't know on which you are currently on, cause I don't know the 4.0.1.A.0.238, but I guess it's older. I think you should be able to root (cause it's gingerbead) it easily, if you want. For that look in my signature
Edit:: Does anybody know which is later? 4.0.2.A.0.58 or 4.0.1.A.0.238. Maybe you are on the latest firmware for your device!
If you wanna root, you will have to downgrade to .58. How to do that is in my rooting guide

I have ICS .587 works perfect, the only detail is with all 2011 and is the LED, this does not turn the screen off, but in performance I work very well, plus is very fluid and battery life more. I recommend you to use the better flow of Serajr Home

[Q] Which ROM to use?/Flashing

Hey
Have been drawn towards MiniCMSandwich for my Xperia Mini Pro as would love features of ICS on my phone
However, was thinking of all ROMS and thought maybe there was a better ROM for me? Of course, one of the most popular in CM7 but would it work for me? I want ideally the menu etc of ICS as well of the reported speed of it but which ROM will give me that?
Secondly wanted to ask about Flashing. On the Wotanserver website I have seen I can flash to 4.0.2........ but what problems would that have? Or would it be better than the MiniCM ROM?
Or should I just wait until SE release the official update in 2 months?
Thanks
Your phone already has 4.0.2.A.0.xx update. Just check in Settings-About Phone. WotanServer offers stock firmware and kernel for all 2011 Xperia phones(and lots others). You can use it to restore your phone to fully stock system if you need it, like when ICS comes out, then you need to have fully stock.
Hybrom is currently stock-based and stable with lots of customization.
Most other custom ROMs(MiniCM, CM7, CM9 etc) have quite lots of bugs, but you need to read the ROM's topic to find these out.
I have Live with Walkman myself, so I am not aware for another phones.
You can try out different ROMs, install one, try for some time, if you don't like it, install another one etc.
Custom ROMs will require custom kernel also(some of these include self, some don't) and unlocked bootloader(if you do that, stay away from OTA updates, else you will brick your phone). Don't forget these
If you decide to stay on stock ROM, get it rooted(you can read my tutorial, if you need help with it) and get rid of some unneeded system apps. Also, then you can yourself customize it as much as you want.

Thank you for that. When you say my phone has the 4.0.2 update available does that mean I can get all the features of ICS? So the menu/home screen etc?
In your opinion, would you say that you should go for a Custom MiniCMSandwich, or then wait until June and get the official 4.0 update from SE?
Or am I misunerstanding and is ICS with all features already available for my XMP?
Thanks

No, it is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but 4.0.2.A.0.xx is a version number for Gingerbread update. ICS is not released yet.
I haven't tested MiniCMSandwich myself, haven't had time nor interest. Also, I have a Live with Walkman, which means some parts are not working on this ROM at the moment(from what I have read).
I use a MIUI ROM(link in my signature, click the ROM name), but this version is only for Live with Walkman. At least it works fine for me, only some small bugs that are not a problem for me.

Hmmmmm... Not sure now whether to stick with 2.3 for now then go for the proper ICS update later in June or get ICS now with a few little bugs.
The MIUI ROM for XMP has quite a few problems such as data not working so don't think that is an option for me
Any other ICS ROMS or is that it?
Thanks

MIUI is ICS based, even though it's visual part and some other stuff are completely different.
for gingerbread i would definitely recommend Hybrom v16, completely stable, lighting fast, really good package.
for ICS: MiniCMsandwich by Kamarush, works really well, not as stable as Hybrom, but for ICS very acceptable.
any custom rom is better than stock, the least would be a rooted stock to get rid of all the bloatware, that really helps with speed AND battery.

List of safe-to-remove apps
I had stock till 4 days back. I Unlocked bootloader and first rom i tried was MiniCMSandwhich and then others one by one and finally came back to MiniCM.
Have some gyro sensor problems(cannot play games) but have not experienced other bugs. It is highly stable ICS rom for XM.
I recommend you to try it.

Planning to buy Xperia Ray

Im planning to buy Xperia Ray after i hard bricked(totally dead) my galaxy mini plus but i have couple questions to ask first before buying.
1. Is it ok to upgrade to official ICS even with some issues? or should i stick to GB?
2.What are the issues after the ICS is isntalled?
2. What is the latest GB? because in my galaxy mini plus its 2.3.6
3. Is it easy to root? because my classmate said the higher your phone is the harder to root
4. If i want to to install custom rom what is the best rom?
all my questions are for Xperia Ray. ill wait for some replies beforing doing something after i bought Xperia Ray.

1.Gb is more stable than ics,and gaming etc is better on gb
2.the latest gingebread version for our phones is 2.3.4
3.Rooting shouldnt be a problem, there are a lot of tools in development section
4.If you want ics custom rom try real ics r5.2 it was the best for me, when you want gingerbread try my rom (signaature)hasa rom by sandy07,or nerodroid
Note:To install custom roms you will have to unlock your bootloader and flash kernel manually (This will void garanty,i think in samsung the kernel flashes automaticly in CWM) But there are also custom roms that can be installed on locked bootloader my rom, hasa gb,real ics etc
Hope i helped you

is the real ics r5.2 is stable and its like an official ICS?
mind telling me what are the issues of ICS on xperia ray.

I'll try to answer it, hope can help you
1. GB is more stable, more efficient on battery, good for gaming.. but it's ok too if you want to upgrade it to ICS, actually it's stable and good though GB is a bit better.. if you want more rocks on ICS then do some tweaks or use Custom kernel and ROM
Issues just lag on your phone but it just a little bit and if you try to use phone like a monster device(?)
2. Latest GB from Google is 2.3.7, but on Ray (Official Sony) 2.3.4
3. No .. there too many ways and awsome people will break up the shadow!
4. The Best ROM.. everyone have different experience for use their phone and CusROM also offer different advantages, so it's all back to you again..
Tips from me , if u want use CusROM for daily use then choose ROM wif minimal bugs or NO BUG..
That's from me, thanks

as of my experience:
1. Yes ics is really brilliant but and has a smoother web broeser than gb. however its main issues are you just cant play some games on it as well as its a real pain for hd graphical games to play , might cause serious lags fcs in games. for such reasons i rolled back to gb.
2.ics can handle certain things faster than gb but as we know Xperia 2011 series are now classified as low range phones.because they've got single core 1 ghz with 210/512 mb ram which is only meant for gb only.
rooting is not a big issue once you've rooted ur phone the rest is like a butter. latest official rom is 2.3.4
3 for thhe custom rom 2.3.7 is best.
4. you'd better buy Galaxy Ace2( Dual core processor .and 750 mb of ram space its a good device for ics and gaming (which sported by mali gpu 400.:good:

Have you tried some ROM on your smartphone(Mini, Mini Pro, Active or Ray)??
If Yes, write your impression for best ROM, your model and what you prefer between GB, ICS, JB.
No true purpose for this thread, just fun and/or information for somebody!!Enjoy
GB +1 Mini Pro
My phone is Mini Pro and i tried more and more ROMs.
I think that now the best choice for bugless, performance and compatibility is Gingerbread(now i'm using HASA rom).
In future(when there aren't bug more) i jump directly to Jelly Bean that should be more peowerful than ICS and more featured than GB. But in the future, not now!!
for I have tried many rom and I was not much time with them porq always have those little mistakes that make me go back to stock ics 587 xD most of all by the look of ICS, I will pre jewel with a root and kernel mod walkman and status bar do not complain, Greetings :highfive:
ROM jelly beam PACman ROM alpha14
There is a custom rom that jelly beam that has been the best rom, this more a problem spending the music with the screen turned off, this and the only reason I'm still on stock rom ics

How is the stock 4.0.4 ICS .587 on the Sony Live with Walkman? (WT19) i am having the restarting / reboot problem and i am on 2.3.4 GB .62
the problem was encountered on .58 but as suggested on some forums and reading on the internet. i upgraded it to .62 but it is still rebooting.
I now plan to update to 4.0.4 .587 via PC companion or by flashing stock rom via flashtool but im still reading and is completely noob on flashing
I think the best rom is cyanogenmod 10 by FXP
It hasn't got much bugs except from the camera preview and accelerometer isn't really fixes, but on the whole it's great
Sent from my SK17i running Jelly Bean via CM10
Im using ICS since day one of its official release by SONY. I've tried CM10 but still feel much more comfortable using Stock ICS.
Gb and jb.
But only if jb bug free.
Ics no no

My device is Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) and I'm using CyanogenMod 9.1 by FXP... When Camera and Accelerometer will be fixed in CM10 I definitely use this ROM

You trying to tell me that I try flashing ics 587 for FlashTool and does not start, and now it is doing through PC Companion.
* for I see only one I did for PC Companion because my internet connection is bad, so I decided to get off the TFT ics 587 and tell him that is a clean install as if for the pc companion and blinking when needed or installed a mod that I like and I go back to pure stock, also I have the tft of the latest build gingerbread sometimes I get bored and go back to gingerbread for a while greetings :highfive:
I have used CM 9.1 and JellySandwich (with Panic Kernel) in my LWW. Speed wise (I mean the speed that you actually feel while u are using the phone and not the numbers suggested by benchmarks) I would say JellySandwich is better and more stable. But there are certain handy features in CM which arent there in JellySandwich like changing screen brightness by sliding finger over statusbar, long press volume buttons to seek tracks, better pop up window to adjust system sounds and loads more. Anyways I'm sticking to JellySandwich for now (And I love the Xperia UI). BTW all these are basically ICS based ROMs I guess. I haven't tried JB yet because everything doesn't work in the JB ports for LWW
Well, there is no question about it. ICS is the latest stable so far, but JB is gonna be a bomb, once it's ready and all the major bugs have been fixed. The interface, speed, everything is so much better. I don't understand the GB crowd at all. Come on, guys, ICS is faster, has more features and less bugs, what's holding you back?
I myself like to use new things. Jb roms are going to be like bugless.
My second choice is GB not ICS. Ics performance is not well enough.
But JB is really awsome. And I insist on using android 4.1.2 because of it's performance. No more memory leak

[Q] Stock ICS ROM+Root for XU

Hi every1, I have an xu and it's been a while since i flashed it to 2.3.7 (Build .184) and now it's working kinda slow... also I wanna go back to ics for many reasons.. I was pretty sure that now i could just update my phone to ics using pcc but both, PCC and US tell me that I already have the latest android version for my device...
So my question is- how can I flash back to ics? which ics build is the best in ur opinion(most importantly smooth!!)? and how can I root my phone with that version? (cuz i know that last time i tried rooting .54 with Binary's root method it didn't work for me)
Can any1 please help me answer these questions? and add good guidelines, I'm a nub when it comes to this
Thanks in advance!!

The only Sony ICS I've used was .54, and to root it the hard way (that is, without BL unlock) you must replace the kernel with the one from .10
I'm also a very satisfied GB user, but trying AOSP 4.1.2 now

But .54 was very slow... e.g. camera takes 3-4 sec to capture, plus had many bugs and didnt work smoothly...
some1 suggested that i install .84 but idk if it's better than gb and if it's rootable..

2- Yes, you still use the .10 kernel + flashtool root + reinstall stock kernel
1- You inspired me to try a home slimmed .100, but my opinion says it'll be worse than GB .188
should use pre rooted kernel, as the kernel Sliding ICS.
already root and cwm :good:

Lightest and most stable ROM

Hello Gents,
I moved a while back from Sola (Bought a LG G2), but now I'm thinking about giving my sola to my dad.
Can you tell me at this time which is most stable ROM that we have for Sola?
He wont be using much apps, mostly browsing and phonecalls, so I'm trying to prepare the phone to be stable enough so that I won't need to flash it every month.
From my experience before I "left" the Russian Cyanogen 11 was the best for me.

Since you want your dad to use it and he will be making very basic use of it supposedly, I would suggest to go with stock rom, root it and remove the bloatware, it will make it lighter. All custom roms will have more stability issues than the stock one.
