JB Roms compared to ICS ? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi,
I've been monitoring the release of JB roms since the beginning. But told myself not to try them until they were completely stable. It seems now that stable ROMs are coming out.
I currently have ICS installed, MiniCMSandwich, which I am not really happy about. I have really bad battery life and bad preformance. (probably my own fault though...) But even so I think the time has come to start thinking about JB. What do you guys think. Is it too soon?
Will JB ever be as good as ICS? Or as good as GB for that matter? And what's with the camera in JB? I see a lot of ROMs mentioning that it doesn't work?
Greetings.

JB will be better than ICS as ICS is better than GB, the problem here is that JB is not officially out and honestly idk if it will be for our devices, therefore, we cant have fully working or stable roms until sony releases an official jb update so developers can extract what they need for their roms work like they should, same thing happened when ICS came out, about MiniCMsandwich, thats the best ICS rom i have tried, had to quit cuz the developer left and that means no more support or updates for the rom idk what your problem could be but I had a wonderful time with that rom, no battery drain whatsoever, it depends how you use it, but I know theres some battery drain issue with stock based ICS roms :/

man that much reflection,:good: and hopefully kick sony jelly bean for our phones. CM10 and reviewer of FXP? has proven that it seemed?

I use CyanogenMod 10 as my main ROM and its great. There are still some major bugs though: FM radio, camera preview, video recording, video playback (?) and more.
But I find it stable enough for daily use

is it posible that xperia 2011 get oficial jb from sony ?

I was on cyanogen timescape and I liked it... but am on paranoid android now and its a very good experience!! Everything is little smoother than before and you get all the extra features from jellybean. Its bugfree enough for daily use ! The bugs I've encouterd are
1: random reboots ... like 2 or 3 times a day.. I use my mob a lot
2: video playback causes the phone to freeze n reboot... disabling HW overlay is supposed to fix this but that dosent work for me.
3: front camera dosent work. Don't need it as of now but I might have to switch back to ics when I do
I lost the apps that I stored in my sd card through link2sd coz the rom dosent supposrt ext3 yet.
The camera works fine and the shutter speed is sooo much better than ICS . The new status bar and google now are awsum
Its definitely worth trying out bro

[Q] ICS Slow & Laggy?

I've just been trying out GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar from Infratech's stock ROM thread for the last day or so and have found it slow. Often I'll touch the screen and nothing will register or it will take a full second or so to respond. Starting apps can sometimes take up to two seconds before it seems to register. Scrolling long lists in various apps can sometimes show a small amount of lag on Gingerbread, but on this ROM it's horrific.
This can't be right can it? Is anyone else finding this? If this is progress in the name of ICS, I'll stick with GB.

I don't know about stock rooms but I'm on cm9 the latest nightly and its pretty slick to be honest. I can't wait until the wake locks are sorted but I just love it! I hate anything of Sammy stock firmware I think they are kind of clueless in that department but good in the hardware side of things. Also people have been talking about Sammy working on android 4.0.4 so that should fix any issues. Hope I helped you mate

I've been on cm9 for the last few months, and I have just dual-booted lp9 Samsung ICS rom yesterday, and I just couldn't believe how slow and laggy everything was in Samsung ICS rom compered to cm9 and Samsung gingerbread rom. The browser was horrendously laggy compared to Samsung gingerbread roms and the same issues as described by the OP. Also, the scrolling mechanism was just screwed up beyond belief. I really like the idea of switching between cm9 and Samsung roms when I feel like change, but at the moment I find all ICS Samsung roms, just unusable after using cm9. I hope Samsung fixes this mess in their next major update.
ICS 4.0.3 is not 100%
ICS 4.0.3 is not 100% perfect couple of issue are there.
Waiting for Samsung to Release 4.0.4 which will address many issues that are present in 4.0.3.
cm9 to me is draging ics behind it, when ics is improved cm9 will be mint ,im still on Gb but will flash when it gets up to 4.1.0 etc, i dont want these bugs in my daily life.
I'm using LP7, tweaked some cosmetic stuff, and I find it very fast and responsive. A friend recently changed from GB 2.3.6 to ICS 4.0.3 official via Kies and said (his words, not mine): its a whole new smartphone.
try cm9 buddy, best rom ive used atm
or you can try hydrogenics, its basically the same with some added tweaks.

ICS is smooth for me, very smooth. Don't use AOKP roms since lgcamera doesn't work well with them yet. Battery life is worse than sammy based roms as well, plus no dialer codes work. The only LAG I've gotten is with Quickpic. Don't know what the difference is between Quickpic on GB and this one on ICS but swiping across photos lags like hell and yet the stock gallery is now smooth like cream
For me, ICS is smooth as a baby's bottom, as long I stay on stock kernel. Once I flash a custom kernel, smoothness goes south. For this reason, although I like the fast charging feature in Siyah, I have to stay on stock.
dialer codes are working for me
cm9 is smooth as hell and more than stable for normal usage
yes, it is laggy. little better using Siyah.
No issues whatsoever when using AOKP roms. Try changing kernels.

Using Resurrection ROM 1.8.1. It is buttery smooth with excellent battery life.
Stock Samsung laggy
CM9 stable and smooth but battery life is so shocking to use for daily life
I don't have a choice right now then wait for stock 4.0.4 samsung rom...

I found a ROM that was receiving a lot of praise, called AndyX. It's using Siyah kernel if I remember right. I tried it and it was actually very good, nice and smooth, no complaints. It also has the ICS look I was expecting to see which was quite nice. You mention lgcamera not working on AOKP ROMs - I'd never heard of AOKP but have just done a quick google and may see what's kicking around for the S2. I know this is the wrong thread, but it's thanks to you I can now record video in 720p without in looking like a slideshow (lgcamera tips in another thread)
So, in summary, my initial choice entering the world of ICS just turned out to be a dud and there's hope yet.
EDIT: I may well go back to AndyX for a bit.. I had to restore to my normal GB ROM because I changed governor in AndyX and now the phone freezes before I can unlock it

AOKP is based off CM9 with other mods flung in (Look at Resurrection Remix or Hydrogenics) and they both run smooth. However I NEED lgcamera unless I get horrible FPS in the camera (looks like you know what I'm talking about lol). Just so you know, 1080p does work as well without lag just in case you didn't notice. I do prefer 720p though. No automatic zoom in like 1080p. I used to be on AndyX rom, quite some time ago actually
I came from Gingerbread KL1 & updated to LPG, gotta say even though I had the phone for 4 days (on GB) the lag is very much noticeable on ICS! The phone was just blazing quick everywhere but it just *feels* different now...
ICS 4.0.3 official works the best!
ICS 4.0.3 official works the best!

Please suggest me a ROM

I don't care if it's ICS/JB or GB but I need a fully working ROM (camera, phone etc.)
Please suggest, I have less then a week to choose.
Thanks.
Real ICS or ExMIUI are good ICS rom for me. Stable n battery consumption are good. Don't know for jelly bean as i never try it. Best GB was stock rooted GB.

Good ones, but I need to use my phone's camera more often now, which is the best? except stock
Don't know about MIUI but I'm using real ICS 4.1(think it is better than 5.1/5.2) and in my opinion is the best rom and the camera is good, there are the Xperia S camera app and the Panorama 3d app.
I don't know about the cam app. I flashed my phone many times with many roms n kernels, not see any difference, as the rom based on same base.
Maybe others know what rom with best camera.
I'm using Real ICS+MESA. It's stock based, but miles ahead from it.
Stock cam app utilises camera the best I think. Although you can use external apps like Lg Camera, which is pretty customisable.
Spartan ROM is also a very good ROM... but it's stock

[Q] The fastest STABLE rom availibile for this phone?

Thinking about getting this phone as I'm on a low budget and I'm looking for atleast a midrange android phone to buy at the moment....
One thing I really need is developer support for a phone, and I was wondering if there's a ROM for this phone that can suit my needs if I purchase it...
I'm basically looking for a stable rom that's mostly bugfree and without annoyances such as FC's, reboots and so on...I'm also looking for a JB CM10 base...but I don't think I'll be able to find a stable Jelly Bean ROM at the moment so I guess any android version will do!
What I absolutley need:
-SPEED and RAM optimization for multitasking, gaming, and music
-Camera for photos
-3G, wifi and bluetooth
-Mostly bug-free
-HDMI mirroring
Things I can live without
-Excessive Customization
-Camcorder (though it would be nice to have)
-Webtop
Please help me find a ROM like this! Thanks!
Nutrino (CM7) or MROM (CM7)
Edit: Nutrino EE (CM7) is the most stable Nutrino rom, GT gives you more speed and don't worry about GT+

Nice thread!!!
I went with MROM and am very well satisfied. Incredibly simple install.
Don't forget (as I did) to go to settings / mrom settings / applications and uncheck use internal sd card if you want to use your external card.
I know it's a bit dated, but for CM7, I love Dorian's RedPill ROM. It flies and has some great mods incorporated within. Good luck and happy flashing!

Yes, they have 100% camcorder with 1080p and flawless HDMI mirroring. If you want the best that's out there for the Atrix, CM7 based roms are your only choice. CM9/10 are too incomplete at the moment (no camcorder, flakey HWA and HDMI mirroring), and blur is kinda buggy and slow. I second MRom, it seems to be the best CM7 one out there.
You can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836674

[Q] Difference between Sola Custom ROMs and CM9 based ROMs

Hello guys, or maybe gals too..
I have this newbie question..
Whats the difference between Sola Custom ROMs and CM9 based ROMs?
And which one has the better performance?
Currently Im running Fluidity ROM on my SOLA, and I want to play Asphalt 7 : Heat but the game is very very slow on my phone..
And while surfing the net, I saw a vid of Asphalt 7 : Heat being played on SOLA and the gameplay is simply awesome. cant even saw a single lag..
Please do help this poor newbie..^^
Thanks a lot in advance... :fingers-crossed:
CM for sola is stil under development the last release was 207 pepper - CM needs lots of bugs to be fixed for optimal gaming performance, so kindly avoid it unless ur are ROM tester
Pulak has Execelled his ROM based on Gaming and overclocking so if you are on that, its the right choice..
A lot can be written its better if you can start researching on that. this will help you to clear most of the doubts on both..
I see..so how it is..
May you mind telling me if your current ROM (eXperience™ CM v1.0) any good?..
Thanks btw..^^

Dude, sorry but i can not agree with that, cause in my opinion CM looks very sweet and run smooth, i use it as everyday ROM for a business phone and never let me down - camera is good, its fast and smooth, battery last good, Exchange works great - A2DP and radio doesnt work.
All custom ROMs have bugs - before CM i was using another custom ROM on which when i go to contacs in exchange the mail app crashed, so let the guy try and decide by him self.

I do understand that he is the best judge of himself but as he said he is newbie and looking at the question, i personally don't suggest people to use the testing roms (past exp)
Also i wouldn't deny the fact that cm is smooth n steady as i have been using it from the week i purchased my mobile.. also i had installed cm in more than 6 devices now but not everyone found it stable...
Always be cautious wen suggesting someone... my theory

[Q] Fastest ROM

Hey guys,
This may seem to be a little cliched, but I wanted to flash a really responsive ROM.
I have sony xperia neo V bought about a year and a half back.
I have Cynogenmod 9 flashed
I really think ROMs are subjective, hence I wanted to have my wants ready:-
1. It must be responsive, dialer must be fast. Touchscreen shouldn't lag. ( cynogen9 after some days is unfortunatly sluggish ;( )
2. I dont care about looks. It can be as ugly as possible. I want functionality.
3. HD gaming and all are not needed. I need to play basic games.
4. FM Radio must work. I really miss it in cynogenmod9
5. WiFi, bluetooth, 2g/3g, camera: all must work. I dont want them to get enhanced. Just work.
6. Speed.
7. Froyo, ICS, JB. I dont care. I want a responsive, fast phone.
Can you guys please help me out with that. I tried to find a few ROMs, but none describes if FM works. Almost everyone says its fastest out there. I think you guys can help out according to my needs.
PS: The Stock rom sucked. And after ICS update it sucked and bit both.

i tried alot of roms out there for neo v and if you really want a responsive, fast phone,...buy a new phone...
all roms get laggy after some time of usage.
codename x has only a few bugs, is quite responsive (but after a week you have to reboot because of heavy lags) and stable.
someone also said, that cm7 has great performance on neo v, but i haven't tried it so far.
JJ's Hybrid ROM, Ultimate HD, Jelly Sandwich, Ice Cream Purness are all great roms with only a few bugs, stable and if you reboot your phone every 1-2 days they are all quite fast.
I preffer JJ's as it has pure AOSP feeling and i cant remember that it has any bugs but Ultimate HD might be a little faster than the other ICS roms.
There are tons of other ics roms, but they are all very similar in performance.
The fastest rom imo is polished blood but it is not really stable with alot of bugs (no hdmi, no fm iirc, camera not fully working...) (well didnt used it for quite a while, maybe it is better now)
i am about to try out pure xperia hd. the creator claims ice cream purness with better performance. that would be great as icp from thillinac is one of the best ics roms for sure and if it would have a little better (hopefully long term) performance, it could be the perfect rom.
