No sim card showing on a very messed up Note - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hi again peeps, this is the latest on my experiments. I grabbed an almost hard bricked Note i717, After a nice GB flash i was able to recover it. But to my surprise it had no Imei and was showing no sim card inserted. Now, i have a box in here but i think it doesnt have full dump support. So i tried to unlock it using the box and when it rebooted it showed IMEI. Then now it has IMEi number but still shows no sim card. And i even found a bml5 file on the sdcard so i think the guy who brought it to me should have made a mess of this phone. It even had 12 flashes on the flash counter so im pretty sure of that. Question is, i installed the GB baseband hoping for a miracle to happen but it didnt happened. Is there a solution for that other than flashing it with a box or something?

One ....perhaps ....
Go to Samfirmware.com, and push the factory image back to the device.
The Samsung image is complete, and unless the device is damaged, should fully restore it ...
Good Luck to you Sir ....g

Well, i flashed the phone with stock Gingerbread downloaded on Samsung Firmwares a couple times to see if something changes. And nothing, trust me the phone was a mess. And just like always people cant tell you what in the world they did. So i guess theres no hope for this one.

Did you flash a modem? Just asking.

Yeah, when i installed the GB firmware back to stock i did flash the GB modem on it.

No signal, or wifi or imei number

Hi, basically i tried to update my s3 to a custom jelly bean software and during the process, i got no signal. I then got my friend to look at it and then he rolled it back to 4.0.4 but now there is no sim in the phone and it says no service? Also, there is no imei number or bluetooth number and the phone doesnt connect to wifi? What should I do?
Reboot into recovery, do a factory reset and see if it works then. If not, try reflashing a stock ICS ROM.
nope didnt work
try to flash stock ROM and kernel with ODIN....

You wiped the EFS folder... that's not good, not even close
If your phone is not the intl version, and you got no signal after flashing the ROM, you most likely reverted the soft unlock (which involves altering files in this folder, which is in the root of Android on most sammy devices) - that's why you didn't get a signal (or maybe you just didnt have the right modem flashed with the rom you downloaded, but this is unlikely)
And when your friend rolled back he wiped the EFS folder by accident, or tried to unlock your phone and screwed up without having backed it up first
My friend, i do not know if these folders have files specific to each device, if not, just look for a backup on the forums and paste it in the root folder of the device, otherwise, you are beyond ****ed up, you may have bricked your s3 (or maybe your friend did)
Please write back if developments occur
EDIT: The only solution is to take it to a service center and *hope* they repair it, as modifying the IMEI is likely ilegal (and talking about it is against the rules of XDA) - The EFS folder is DEVICE SPECIFIC, if you didnt make a backup you basically bricked your phone... i'm sorry my friend, i hope the SC can get it done for you

[Q] galaxy s3 problems after kies update

Hi guys so the missus didnt know not to update the galaxy s3. It was running the revolution hd 4.0.4 rom.
After she updated it the phone would not boot. Stuck in boot loop. So thought right ok reflash. Tried and nothing. Boot loop. Downloading the original three rom (i think its the three rom. Downloading the unbranded one just now just incase )
Done a data wipe, cache wipe, fired into dl mode, opened odin, pda picked the rom, phone flashed and passed. Now turns on which is great. But no signal with any sim card, imei is null/null and the baseband is unknown. Tried to root the phone and still no signal.
Relashed the modem with a few others, nothing.
Im at a loss, im not so good at flashing eveything, i can do basics, but if someone could point me in the right direction for a noob to regain signal and use of y phone it would be greatly apreciated
small update i flashed the international rom and nothing at all no signal
It sounds to me like your efs partition is corrupt, if you have a backup restore that, if not you will have to go to service.
no backup mate, i found this video tho, shows how to put imei back, think it could work ?

well couldnt fix it three sent it away for repaior so we will see if im charged in 10 days

[Q] Galaxy SIII Stuck In Airplane Mode - Please Help, This Is Driving Me Nuts

Hey everyone. The other day, I was installing a custom ROM and was also trying to unlock my Galaxy SIII. After both, Airplane mode somehow locked on... I did a factory reset - didn't help. I also reinstalled the stock image - didn't help. I tried several tar recovery files - didn't work or help. I tried everything! I can disable airplane mode in settings but my device simply displays a circle with a cross through it instead of the signal meter in the notification bar. It also doesn't detect SIM cards now... I don't know what is wrong. Help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!
Thanks for your answers in advance!
My first thought is the Unlock process stuffed things for you. What did you try for the Unlock? Did you get it right? I've never had a locked phone so I don't know the process but try asking around on threads where they talk about unlocking phones.
What ROM did you try? Can you still get into the phone for menus etc?
And the biggie - did you try Restoring your Nandroid backup? (you DID do a Nandroid at some point, didn't you? )
If you've only done a factory reset from the phone I'd try getting MegaWipe and flash it in Recovery. Then try a ROM you know to be working for others.
Another thing to look at might be your Modem - I use Purelook HD ROM - one of the updates had a modem that screwed with my wifi and phone connection so I flashed the previous one that had worked well and all was right again.
You might also need to try a megawipe and then flash a stock ROM via Odin - get the phone back to a working state and then start ROM'ing again.
Yeah, I can get into menus alright. The MegaWipe didn't seem to work though Or the Purelook HD ROM. I've flashed the stock ROM about 100 times, restored Nandroid and did a full stock restore however nothing worked. Thanks anyway!!!
Do you have an EFS backup?
Is your modem correct? if not, restore your EFS backup
Another thing, dial *#06# on your phone and look at your IMEI. Do you see a bunch of zeros?

When I dial *#06#, a box pops up and simple says "IMEI". There is no actual IMEI number displayed... That must be bad..??

Your EFS is corrupted. If you have a backup please restore it. If not Flash a fresh stock ROM and start over.
If I'm right, you turned your phone to a Wi-Fi tablet. There is not a real at-home solution other than searching your whole computer and your phone's internal memory and all SD cards you used on your phone for files that have "efs" in their names and hope you find some kind of EFS backup you took before. (About that, can you post a list of the ROMs you installed before? I know Sotmax takes[or used to take, don't know the new versions] automatic EFS backups, maybe other Samsung ROMs do too)
If you can't find any, you should contact with your carrier and ask if they can repair it. It won't be covered by warranty, and you would probably be asked to bring evidence(receipt and such) to prove the phone is not stolen.
Make sure you tell them the whole story, and don't try to cover up the fact that you rooted your phone, or you may end up being questioned by the police.
If they accept, they will restore your IMEI using advanced debugging hardware and software. If they reject, then you may want to start looking for a new phone.
(Procedures may vary)
actually, it will be covered by warranty if you restore it to complete stock
They may still look at the binary counter and tell Odin has been used.
Other than that, lying in such conditions may result in big trouble, so if they ask if you have rooted your device, you should say yes. Not worth risking much bigger trouble for a paid repair.
There is triangle away.
Triangle away+flash stock rom = full stock no binary counter.
Why do you say there might be problems with the police? Since the gs2 there have been lots of cases of lost/corrupted efs without doing anything. Are all those people in jail?
If there's proof of ownership, then there's nothing to it. I really don't know how much is the standard rate for lost/corruped efs fixing outside of warranty, if it involves motherboard replacing, its gonna be as expensive as a new phone.
I'm talking from looking at my country's regulations, so they might be different in other countries. Hence the "procedures may vary" in my reply.

please help, problem with G925F, can't flash stock rom and other problems...

Hi everybody,
hoping someone can help me as I am really frustrated now and have tried everything I can think of...
first a bit of info, I have an S6 edge, G925F and I was using a custom rom with no issues for a couple of months until all of a sudden I was having the same issue as others where I was getting "not registered on network" from damaged or corrupted /EFS, my imei had changed to 350000000000006 but I still had baseband version etc visible, just imei lost.
I have read on many threads that the answer is to change back to stock rom but no matter what rom i flash from sam mobile, it will not boot, when I go into recovery after booting it says "DM-Verity failed have to check DRK first", no matter what Rom I try but if I flash the odin flashable UNI Kernel after that then it will boot but then I have a rooted stock rom so not actually stock and an unstock kernel and still the not registered on network issue with same imei (350000000000006) .
so far I have tried flashing;
G925FXXS3COK5_G925FOXA3COK5_G925FXXS3COK5_HOME.tar.md5
G925FXXU3COI9_G925FBTU3COJ1_G925FXXU3COI9_HOME.tar.md5
and another one same as above but with XEU sales code as well as trying the EE (EVR) branded one with associated pit file and I've flashed every other pit file with each one as a last resort, to no avail...
nothing boots without flashing separate, non stock kernel, defeating the purpose of trying to return to stock.
p.S. Smart Switch doesn't work either as both it and kies say "SM-G925F does not support initialising, please contact support service"....
what can I do??
I've had 3 samsung phones now, s3, s4 and now s6, all rooted and have flashed countless roms on them and never had this issue and I also have no EFS back up as I have never selected it to back up in TWRP as I didn't know I should have and like I said, haven't had this problem before (kicking myself for not backing it up now...)
any help would be mucho appreciated as I am gutted to have broke my new phone and I am at my wits end with trying to fix it.... I thought I was quite good with tech and have done countless mods and rom flashes to various phones and solved many problems Ive encountered along the way but this is stumping me and I really need help..
Thanks in advance for your time and regards,
Elijah
anybody?
any ideas at all? anyone? how do I get the phone to rebuild or reset the EFS partition so that it refreshes it when I start it up with the sim card in it again? any ideas are more than welcome as I really can't accept Ive bricked my new phone, it's less than 3 months old and I know there must be a way to do it. any help would be appreciated, cheers in advance, Elijah

I just managed to flash stock firmware on a SM-G925F (= model name in upper case) with Kies3.
It puts the phone on stock state (i.e. bootloader, efs partition, recovery, ... etc.)
but you have to be able to boot in Android in order to retrieve serial number in settings => about => state

What happens when you just flash the stock FW, boot into recovery and make a factory reset from there? Cannot mount /EFS error???
AFAIK this IMEI is displayed when the EFS partition has been corrupted...
Some reported issues with param.bin (part of the BL file) in combination with EFS... and solved it by flashing the BL (which contains the param.bin) and the modem.bin
Try to flash a 4 part original FW, boot into recovery and make a factory reset...
Anyway if the EFS has lost data and you have not made a backup, you cannot fix / get back your original IMEI again.....

help with twrp and backups...

Hi, guys
my phone is Huawei p10 Lite (WAS-LX2)
Note: if you have a bricked huawei p10 lite of any kind (incl WAS-LX2) (or a NZ model)
and you want to know how i finally fixed mine, jump down to the end where it says
GOOD NEWS
quick synopsis: unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp, now i get an error (255) when trying to create backup using twrp..
you can read the rest if you want but the above basically covers it please help
so i have unlocked my bootloader and flashed twrp, before i did this i did a factory reset through androids settings, the phone is also only two months old.. but i cannot create a backup using twrp, it always fails in the same place when backing up data, does this mean my stock rom that has never been altered in anyway ect is somehow corrupt? wtf? i havnt even rooted it yet, i was going to make a backup first (of a known good rom.. lol)
i am assuming the data files are part of the rom? not something you can ignore.. they were one of the few things selected by default.. i have tried rebooting phone a few times, formatting sd card etc (64gb) so there is plenty of space...
any help would be much appreciated
the tutorial i was following is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/twrp-how-to-root-p10-lite-t3617418
my phones full build (or do i mean firmware number?..) number: WAS-LX2C706B170
android version 7.0
emui 5.1
any more info, just ask..
also, ive heard that once you have installed twrp/ unlocked bootloader you cannot use system update or androids factory reset without bricking your phone? is that true? otherwise i want to try that, i just want to root my damn phone already... or... its been a long time since i last rooted a phone... you dont need root to make a twrp rom backup do you? nah, surely not..?
or could my twrp install be corrupt? the tutorial said to drag and drop the downloaded file into cmd, but that wasnt working so i entered the location manually, it still appeared to install fine that way though so surely thats not it. i dont know
ok, i just bricked my phone... i did a factory reset in twrp, thinking it was... a factory reset... i googled whether it was safe first and everything came up clean... but it is not it wiped the os or something and now i just get a boot loop... what the hell? how could i be so stupid?! and how could twrp not warn me.. it was just a factory reset? and i havnt even rooted it yet, at this point i would probably prefer it was rooted in the hope their would be more options available to me to un brick it.. ok now i really need someones help.. why am i drinking and trying to watch tv while doing this, i am so stupid, this is the best and most expensive phone ive ever owned, what have i done?! sorry sorry ill calm down...
so if my firmware number is: WAS-LX2C706B170 then can i use one of these (also for huawei p10 lite) and if so what would be the difference? why are the numbers slightly different? same phone model, different firmware/ slightly...
here they are:
WAS-LX2C706B120
WAS-LX2C185B121
and they each had a OTA and a full firmware version too.
here is the link: https://romfirmware.com/2017/08/04/huawei-p10-lite-was-lx2/
but before i try these things, is there any saving my current stock rom? i dont understand how a factory reset could prevent it from booting properly..? its not actually bootlooping, it either gets stuck on logo, or goes to black screen but you can still see the volume slider when pressing volume buttons, see the home and back buttons (which do nothing) and hear the lock sound when you press the power button... still always a black screen though.. i guess its possible i knocked the format data button in twrp but im 95% sure i didnt. if i remove twrp and install stock recovery would i be able to get the stock rom working that way? or is there any way to do an OTA update/ fix as i havnt rooted it yet so it should be capable (except i cant boot to rom..) if i hold down all buttons it seems to try to do something... it says emui then goes to 4% then says software install failed: the update package does not exsist. please download the package again... reboot system now..? whats that all about?
ok, so i have found a possible solution but would like confirmation from someone who knows these things first...
i found this tool: Huawei Firmware Finder (Team MT)
link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
and using this i have found my exact firmware, apparently straight from the official huawei update servers. the firmware number matches exactly, but there is no mention of it being for a huawei p10 lite so not 100% sure its a good idea, but if the whole firmware number matches perfectly and its the only one of its kind it must be the right one surely? and the size is the same as other huawei p10 lite firmwares..
here is the direct link:http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1514/g104/v89953/f2/full/update.zip
please someone else chime in to give me some advice...
is there any risk with flashing roms, or can i always still access twrp recovery to flash a new rom if i brick the phone?
cheers all
ok UPDATE:
i tried the repair file system option in twrp on the data partition just for fun (wrong word, im not having fun..) because i thought this rom was a lost cause..
upon reboot a huawei warning pops up saying the data partition has some serious damage and offers to try a low level format, it finishes successfully then restarts.
no change, still broken, but it offers to do a full format of data due to serious damage.
after restart phone boots fine, and enters setup wizard for first boot etc... perfect.
problem is, i still cant backup the data partition in twrp, still get same error:
createTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255
bacjup failed..??
did i somehow get a brand new phone with a bad flash of a stock rom straight from the manuafacturer? with a slightly corrupted data partition... is there anyway to fix this? or can i assume the rom i downloaded from huaweis servers for my exact firmware is correct and i can use that as a backup in case i need it?
or in case my data is corrupt should i try to install that rom now?
or should i try to reflash twrp first and see if i can get a successful backup?
or should i just forget all this crap now my phone works and go straight to rooting it?
i really need some professional advice here.. lol
clearly i aint no expert
ok, so i noticed the frp was still locked for some reason so using adb, i relocked and unlocked bootloader, now frp is unlocked too, reflashed twrp, wiped dalvik cach/ cache, tried backup again...
no change, still fails on data partition, same error 255...?!
im lost,
close to trying to flash that rom i found...
or at least just rooting already..
OK UPDATE: first the bad news, then the good news:
so i gave up on backing up my data partition, as it was clearly somehow corrupt?...
so i went ahead and rooted my phone, everything was more or less working untill i used apps2sd...
that required several reboots and partitioning my sd card etc, then it said something about needing systemless root and a reboot, i went ahead with that and then my phone started bootlooping again, this time there was no fixing it, i of course tried removing sd card too.. nothing..
so i tried restoring to the rom i found using huawei firmware finder tool, that didnt work, using twrp to install zip, i got error -9? (couldnt find that one on the net..)
tried unzipping and putting update.app in dload folder on root of sd card, then booting to erecovery pressing vol- vol+ and power button, that also failed. now i was stressed near tears, this was the third day of research and trying to fix this... so i searche dhigh and wide, and gave up on stock roms, i figured that a custom rom designed for my chipset (hi6250)
and said to work on a huawei p10 lite then it should at least semi work on my phone, i did more research and the rom creator said to only use his version of TWRP to flash their ROM, so i reflashed to theirs... BIG mistake, if the custom recovery is the only thing you can boot into and the only way to access boot loader, do NOT risk losing it.. i did.. i lost my recovery..
so there for i lost my bootloader, so therefore i lost my ability to use ADB, or connect to pc in any way. i wanted to step in front of a bus at this point... but then there was:
GOOD news:
so i resorted to trying the official recovery roms on XDA for p10 lites, only i had been avoiding them as none of the build/ firmware numbers matched mine at all.. but i went ahead and clicked on the first download, (here is the link to post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-lite/help/original-service-rom-huawei-p10-lite-t3688097) - you might find a few comments from me near the end there, lol..
anyway , once downloaded i unzipped and just pasted the dload folder straight to sd card and rebooted phone with all three buttons depressed. to my amazement when the huaei erecovery came up it started installing!!!? wow, i tried not to get my hopes up though..
first boot restarted after blue huawei splash logo, second boot went back to erecovery, offered factory reset and wipe cache(so i did), now it boots up perfectly every time like new, everything works! even gave me NZ language options etc, even though my build number didnt match any of those above, its still worked and even better it still shows all the correct information under about phone.
my build number was: WAS-LX2C706B170
so i can confirm it works for nz huawei p10 lites with 4gb ram and dual sim and WAS-LX2 builds
hope this helps someone else out there like me

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for posting this!
I'm from New Zealand, and have the exact same phone and the exact same issue.
Your "good news" section was exactly what I was looking for, and helped me fix my phone.
Cheers, George
update copy
Hi was wondering if you have a copy of the update you used as it is near impossible to get from the link on the other thread. Another Kiwi with a bricked phone.
All good, after 4 hours it finally downloaded. I will keep a copy in case anyone needs it. WAS-LX2
