I have 2.3.4, and Skype 2.9.0.0315. In an older version I was able to do Skype Video, but haven't used for a while, and upgraded, and now am not seeing video option when I try to Skype to a friend (that DOES have Skype Video). Has Skype done something to limit me from doing Video??? It used to work great. I know back a year ago, i had to download a version of Skype that had a patch, then sometime later, Skype allowed it to work, but now it is not allowing video again... any ideas? (I tried searching for an answer but couldn't find... sorry if i missed it!)...
I have uninstalled and re-installed... still not Video capability that I can see.

Has anyone found a good video chat app? I am looking for something that I can chat between my Atrix and my Macbook.
Under Android Market .. search for Qik Video for Atrix .. works like a charm, utilizes the front camera on the Atrix 4G.
I downloaded Qik, but I couldn't figure out how to use it on my laptop. There doesn't seem to be a desktop client.
I'm looking for this as well.
Qik looks to be mobile-to-mobile only, and Skype has no video on Android. Skype recently bought Qik though, so it's likely they'll release something eventually ... but that doesn't help us yet.
Yahoo and ooVoo are alternatives I've found on Google for Android, but both are limited to specific devices (which of course doesn't include the Atrix as of yet).
On a somewhat related topic, I'm also looking for a video chat program (for PC/Linux) that would let me record both ends of a live video chat -- this is for the purpose of starting a library of videos discussing family history with relatives that are not local.
FRING
FRING is also a good video chat, but also NOT working on Atrix yet....

Good to know, I was just thinking about trying it.
Fring though only appears capable of doing video chat from mobile-to-mobile. It supports text and probably voice chat to a variety of other services, but not video. It seems that they did support Skype video at some point, but then dropped the feature.
I wonder what makes video chat from phone-to-PC so difficult . . .
Oovoo works on the atrix...Tango is the best client but is not supported on the Atrix yet. I e-mailed Tango along with other users and they replied that they just got their hands on the device and are working on a fix
I have seen all of these threads about how skype works now with the new update.
I don't even know where to get skype for my phone!
The market has a skype but it doesn't have video....
... where can i get a skype app that I can video chat with?
Skype for Android with video capability has not yet been released.
Skype and 2.3.4
Skype 2.0.0.27 works fine in 2.3.4 as far as the audio that made the app unusable before. It works crisp clear (Wi-Fi have not tried 3g) . No signs of video as of today. As I understand skype is working on the matter.
Has anyone got any sort of video calling working on the X2? I've downloaded the hacked Skype that lets you manually enable video calling, but checking the "force enable" box just makes Skype force close forever. I also can't ever get video from the other person, either on 3G or WiFi. Any success? I'd really love to have Skype, especially if I could send video. Even with only the back camera it's better than nothing.
I have never understood why we are not allowed to call with a back camera. I can easily set the kickstand on my case and transmit video. I understand that it would be difficult to see the other person's video, but I think that is my choice....
The worst part is, you can download the full version of skype that allows you to activate video calling so you dont have to use the hacked version and it still doesnt work.... I tried last night and it never would activate the camera.... And I was skype calling a computer not another phone...

Might try ooVoo..its free in the market. I've used it twice & worked both times, just sucks we only have the camera on back but it works
It's working now with the newest update.
On the newest Skype on the Market, video works just fine for me.
DELETE ME:.e down a couple of paths, none of them successful in the video chat arena. What is the best way to get the best quality video chat using the TP Prime?
It doesn't seem like Skype or Google+ Hangouts are working with ICS. Tango seems to be a phone only offering.
Is there something I am missing?
skype works fine.
skype works fine for me with ICS. what problems are you having?
Mods please delete thread.
Sorry about that, got it working after clearing out data. It was crashing at login for me, but now works fine.
Can anyone confirm with me that their skype video works? Can you please tell me which ROM/Firmware you are on and which BL you have.
I cannot get skype video to work on CM7 nightly. Voice works fine. Also Gtalk works but the video is very jittery.
Thx.
I did a quick search and found this thread...

Supposedly Skype works on at least this one.
If you are still interested, I stumbled across this one (in this very forum) this morning that states that Skype works in this version.
