Yet another Google Wallet thread - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hey everyone,
Im running CM10, wallet has been working fine. Went to test it the other day and Im getting the "not available yet for your device or network" message. Ive not changed anything, the app was working since it updated last. Im afraid to flash another rom until I can clear wallet, since it was linked to this rom. I tried the build.prop edit to get it saying htc_jewel on the 3 proper fields to no avail. Ive also uninstalled the latest wallet update, I am instantly prompted to update upon opening.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You should still be able to use it, I'm on decks 9/15 with no wallet issues

I've never had to clear wallet myself, i think google fixed that mistake long ago. fear not mortal! flash that rom!

This is my second evo lte, as I didnt clear wallet on my first flash and bricked the secure element.

I'm on my third phone now, for different reasons... but as i said, never ever cleared google wallet settings. never had a problem. even this and last week i been flashing 2x a day not being able to decide between CMX or Viper4G.. I think google fixed that problem. just leave wallet alone and flash a different rom. if it makes you feel batter do a dirty flash with out wiping

Against my better judgement, I flashed over cm10 without clearing wallet. Reinstalled on new rom and everything is working like a charm. Thanks for the push in the right direction guys

If I'm flashing a rom to update my current I don't reset, if I'm switching to a different rom I reset. I'm a bit paranoid like that, at this point I'm going to say it's not a problem

I've never reset/cleared Gwallet and i got my phone on pre-order. . I don't know how many times i flashed new roms but it's a lot. I really think resetting/clearing gwallet was causing the problems. This is complete speculation however

I never get a GPS lock how much ever time I wait, even outdoors. It doesn't work in the latest stock rom also. I tried various GPS fixes from the market but nothing works and I searched the forum too. It used to work properly a year ago. Please help...

1. Suggestion: Try GPS Status app => free from Play store.
Works fine on my SGS2.
2. Suggestion: Try to flash stock ROM, and do a factory reset/wipe data after flashing. Maybe there is something messed up in your ROM for GPS.
3. Suggestion: If your still on warranty, go the the store/service center and try to get a replacement. Maybe it is a kind of hardware defect.
Good luck !

I've started having GPS problems from a few days ago, did the whole flashing to stock then back to my one, re-flashed the kernels, tried faster fix. BUT still no joy, was working absolutely fine until now.
Same for me. Upgrade from lp7 to lpf and now i don't get a fix.
With gps test i even see 11 satellite in view, but don't get a fix.
I tried gps aids to inject xtra data but nothing...

NO IM SURE NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF GOOGLE EVER.
Anyways, I am in a similar situation and was going to make my own thread but I'll start here.
Been running stock 4.0.3 for a few weeks but wanted to flash touchwiz ux back on because I kind of missed it. So I rooted again and behold, sucked back in to flashing all the new roms I haven't tried.
Problem-and the reason I am posting this to general q&a- is this ; Across all the roms that I flash (slim ics , rootbox, rr 2.6 etc and 3 different custom kernels)- the GPS cannot get a lock.
When I revert back to my nandroid stock 4.0.3 cf root its fine. And TBH I could get a kick out of slim being my daily so I've been searching ask Jeeves and Bing (the only two searches I've ever heard of) and trying many things to no success. Could some one point me to a thread that has helped you if you've had the same problem? Much appreciated.

Thanks. About to compose a reply in that thread now as I have tried it on all but 1 of the four roms I flashed today with the same results. Both 3.1 versions fail and abort on flash in cwm. 3.0 passes and the problem remains.

CM10 GPS working!

I've been running deck's version for a couple months, keep updating, but GPS never works. And, yes I've tried the nand to sense and back.
Well, deck hasn't pushed an update on almost a week. No complaints, we all need down time. Not that he's actually taking down time, he could be pushing a huge update who knows.
Being a flashing addict, I decided to throw the official cyanogenmod version to get my flashing fix. I popped open GPS essentials, and bam fix in a few seconds. Not only that from inside my house, near a window it tracked 15 sats and locked 13.
Just thought I'd share, I know a lot of folks would love to have some GPS with their Jelly Bean.

Oddly..never once had any problems with GPS or locking. Always locks down to a foot or so on any ROM I have used so far, lucky I guess but haven't seen too many complaints of GPS related issues. This cell is like the OG EVO, every model is slightly different with results especially with OCing etc.. Glad it works for you!
My GPS has been working for months. But I did have to do the "flash to a Sense ROM" thing. Looking forward to the big update.
I'm surprised at the response. I've heard a lot of complaints about GPS with CM10. I have flashed every one of deck's updates as they came out from the IRC channel. I have even done full wipe multiple times, just to make sure it was clean. And never once have I had GPS work. Weird!
I guess each unit is different. Just odd that it instantly began working with the official nightly. It just seems too coincidental.
Did you get a good solid lock while on a sense ROM before going to recovery to flash AOSP. Works for me.

Thanks for sharing this info. I have the same issue when using navigation.
Is gps screwed in deck's roms? At least, up until recently? I'm on the 11/24 nightly.
Sent from my EVO
I haven't had a single issue but those who are need to either run GPS status to clear cache and download new agps data or flash sense and use ##gpsclrx# to clear cache and then open maps to get a lock and flash back to cmx. It's not ideal but it works
I can empathize with the thrill of having working GPS on an aosp rom.
Both on the OG Evo and this LTE it has been hit or miss for me.
I tended to shy away from aosp roms in the first place since CM7 and the endless bootloops some were having off of it on the OG.
When i would try one i liked and then the GPS and Nav wouldn't work, it would really be a drag. I would jump through all sorts of hoops to try to get it working but sometimes it would just not work for me.
Hey DW!
I did the get a "sense GPS lock, leave it locked, then go and flash cm10." That Scott mentions.
It worked fine. I've been using it all week with Google now and no issues.

Is this the same issue? Is there any way to fix this without reflashing/losing settings, etc?

Thanks for the response, but that's lasted through a few versions of cm10, I think.
A few weeks ago, goomanager prompted for upgrade to cm10 and I did it. I still have the issue.
It seems like scout works a lot better, but gmaps navigation always "stops" when using it.
Not sure then I only clean flash and haven't had any problems.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I have had that work before too. I'd get a lock on a Sense rom, then use Titanium to back up my GPS Test app, flash over to the AOSP and restore it there and sometimes it would work.
Then I Nand it while it is working, flash another rom, decide to restore the 'working' gps nand, and it doesn't work again. I can't figure it out. :cyclops:

Google Wallet/NFC Having Trouble

First off my Google Wallet works....EVENTUALLY. It takes many many tries for it to finally read and/or acknowledge my phone when I try to use it. This happens when completely stock and locked or rooted with several different ROMs. The secure element isn't bricked or it wouldn't work at all. It used to work perfectly then all of a sudden stopped working. I've tried uninstalling it, wiping the phone, factory resets, all the normal stuff like that. I don't know if this just localized to google wallet or if all NFC functions are like this. I don't have any way to test the NFC any other way.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Or know of anything else I could try to fix it? I am pretty much spent out of ideas on what to do.
Like I said I get the same thing if the phone is completely stock and locked but here's my phone stats.

I recently flashed CM10 on my EVO (12/7 nightly) and I'm having trouble getting Wallet to work. From all I read, I should be able to install or sideload the .apk but that hasn't seemed to work. I'm wondering if I've missed something in my research. Now I'm getting the "Not Supported: Unfortunately, google wallet is not yet supported for your device or mobile network." When I try to launch Wallet.
Any Ideas? Maybe point me to the right thread. I could very well just not be getting the search results i'm looking for of course.
Always appreciative of the help.

GSM/CDMA... Not even sure what to put on the subject line.

So I just wanted to share something really weird and ask if anyone has ever seen anything like it before.
I recently flashed the last AOKP update, and my phone was running phenomenally. I went out last night and my battery died because I forgot to charge it... No biggie. Got home, turned it on, no signal. Odd, since I have pretty decent service in the area. After doing the usual troubleshooting of cycling airplane mode, I tried pulling the battery and sim. That also didn't work. I went into settings to check my APNs, and instead of the usual menu, I saw only 4 options. The option to select APNs wasn't even there. The last one said "Set CDMA..." something. I forget the rest. Wish I had remembered to take a screenshot. In "About Phone", my baseband was blank. Tried reflashing back to LC5 radio. Still nothing. Did a full wipe and reflash of the ROM, and that got me back in business. Right now, all is well. I was just unaware that a phone could magically switch over to CDMA, even if there is no CDMA radio in an i777.
Any thoughts on the cause?
EDIT:
ROM: Task's AOKP 4.14
Kernel: Stock
Radio: UCLL6 when issue started. Now on UCPLC5
Not an issue that's related to the rom, as far as I know. Unless others have reported this issue and I've missed it. If you do a full wipe and re flash as you've done and don't install any programs for a good 24 to 48 hours, and nothing of the sort happens again, odds are it has something to do with an app you installed. Unless your service provider maybe was experiencing problems at the time.

No, definitely an anomaly. Not something that anyone else has reported. I called AT&T to verify if there were any issues in the area or with my account, and everything checked out. I haven't downloaded a new application in months. I restored from TiBu right after reflashing and everything is still good. Like I said, not trying to report it or anything; just looking for thoughts.
You meant APN and baseband NEVER come to live? If that's the case, then I haven't heard or read any report about it.
If it's up and running like normal AFTER 5 minutes, then it's has been reported many many times last week.

This is what I thought. I have a feeling that since AOKP is based of CM, there is code built in to support both CDMA and GSM. Somehow, the software glitched, and made the switch.

[Q] Must cycle Airplane mode between texts

I had CodeFire on my DNA for about a month. All was running well. I just installed whatever was current around 2/23 and never installed a nightly update. Last week, I started having problems texting. I thought the ROM was going belly up on me. So I flashed SlimKat. I still cannot text without cycling Airplane Mode in between each. Alternatively, I can wait about an hour to sent a subsequent test message after a successful one.
I just re-flashed the latest radio hoping that would fix it. I'm at a loss. Do I need to call VZW and have them do something on their end?

The kit kat roms are ported. There are several issues with them that cannot be "fixed" until the source code is released. If the phone does not respond to any commands including trying to boot.... leave it on a factory charger for 24 hours. Then try to work with it

What do you mean by "phone is dead"? Completely non responsive or no signal. I've been on cfx since I ported it over with no issues besides the random signal drop here and there. But that's maybe a few times per week and happens to me on all ROMs. What do you wipe when flashing a new ROM? Have you tried a RUU?

Dead as in Roaming again. My apologies for the exaggeration. I'm a bit frustrated here. I cannot seem to win with this thing. I hated my Thunderbolt at the end, but at least it worked. RUU brings back mobile data and texting. I've tried CM 10.2 several times. Each time, it gets stuck in roaming. I cannot change the NV setting. Changing it, then checking it again and it's right back. I've tried flashing with the SIM in. With it out. I've cycled Airplane mode a few times. Rebooted. Installed GApps. Rebooted. Cycled Airplane mode. I'm missing something. Apparently.
I just want a phone without Sense or the Verizon crap. CFX was awesome until this texting issue.

Have you considered hardware issues? If it was a ROM issue it wouldn't be a one person issue. Or provide a log of what's happening when you send SMS. You're just not giving us much to go by, except what's not working. Are you doing full wipes between flashing roms, or just cache or factory resets?

Full Wipes between flashes.
I've had this phone for about two months. I initially had issues flashing CM and being stuck in roaming. No CM ROM I attempt to flash will work. They always end up stuck in roaming. I think the problem is that I can't switch from NV. When I change it, it always goes right back. Not sure what's up there.
I just flashed ★ ☆ [ROM/RADIO][4.2.2] Stock 3.06.605.4 | Rooted | Odex-Deodex | Sense5 And now SMS works, but I'm stuck in 3G.
I hadn't considered hardware only because with each ROM, the previously broken feature works, but then something new pops up.
With one, I can text, but am in 3G. With another, I've got 4G but can't text without cycling Airplane mode.
I sincerely apologies for coming off as a d!ck. I've nothing to contribute to the community but my bug reports and money. It's frustrating to see how quickly some phones are abandoned, though.
I've always been thankful for everyone's help and tried to offer bug reports and donations where applicable.
I just want my phone to work, with a plain vanilla OS and tethering. I don't need Sense. I don't need fancy mods. Just a phone that works.
Please accept my apology, and thanks again for the help.

Have you considered the fact that the recovery itself is causing your issues? I would give TWRP a try to see if there are differences. TWRP is a must to flash KitKat roms and the version used is critical.

Nope. I didn't consider that. Because most of my problems were with CM 10.2.1. Which is JB, correct?
That being said, I've tried both CW and TWRP to no avail. After being stuck in 3G for two days across multiple ROMs, I'm convinced the hardware went belly-up.
New SIM?
HTC DNA
LG Optimus G

Santod has a process to recover the unit from the conditions you describe. It is fairly simple and doesn't appear to require much time.
I don't have time to search for it at the moment.

I did lots of searching before asking. I try to do my due diligence before bothering you all.
The replacement phone did not resolve the problem. The replacement SIM did.
Now on to bigger and better things. Thanks for putting up with me.
And now I can't text without cycling Airplane mode again.

Are you certain it was Santod? He's only got 19 posts on this board and I don't see anything directly related to the SMS problem I'm having.

Since my last update, I've received a new DNA, and a new SIM card.
Check out the last few posts here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51465109
This is bizarre. Either I'm doing something wrong, or... I don't know. SMS works on a stock ROM but not on a custom ROM, with a new phone, with a new SIM.
I think you are doing something wrong.
RUU the latest firmware, factory reset, wipe data, cache, and system, install a ROM and DO NOT restore anything.
I think youre not completely wiping and/or are restoring things.
