[Q] Help with partially bricked EVO 3D Unlocked - S-ON - HTC EVO 3D

Hello,
I have an EVO 3D that was having screen issues.
When I took it to the Sprint store they said my warranty was void for having ViperRom on the device.
The device was HTC unlocked and had ViperRom redline.
I asked them to not note that down and that I would come back tomorrow with the device back to stock settings.
I made a mistake though when I manually flashed a boot.img using adb.
Now I just get a blank screen when the phone starts. I am not able to enable USB debugging or disable fastboot.
Now I can get into the bootloader by using power and the down key.
Since the phone is in Unlocked Mode and S-ON I can't update through ADB without USB debugging or fastboot disabled.
Also any PG86IMG.zip on the SD card doesn't ask for an update when the phone is HTC unlocked
There is no bootloader option to relock the phone either.
If anyone can please help I would greatly appreciate it. I'm supposed to go back there today 9/18/2012 at 4PM PST

Are you able to get into fastboot on your phone? If so what you have to do is relock your bootloader first. Fastboot oem lock is the command. Your phone should pick up the pg86img file and update.

I can't relock the bootloader using any PC tools. I can get into the bootloader menu by pressing Vol- but since the phone give a black screen when I try to booth I cannot enable USB debugging nor disable fastboot. I think this is what is preventing me from being able to connect to the phone via USB... I'm working on that assumption however I could be wrong.

I can see when I turn the phone on it's actually functioning, just with a black screen. It still makes noises for receiving text and so on I just can't enable usb debugging and disable fastboot blind. I wonder if I found my HDMI adapter if an external display would work. That would be weird.

UPDATE: I figured it out that just by selecting fastboot and THEN connecting the USB I could get USB connectivity!

[Q]Fastboot to relock bootloader

I want to unroot and go back to stock completely. I read some howto threads and they had a step about relocking the bootloader by going into fastboot. How exactly do I do that?

I believe Hassoon's all in one tool has an option to do that:

You have USB debugging checked on, do you also have it set up as CHARGING ONLY, and not the SD CARD setting?
Double check these settings and report back - another possibility (I can not confirm if it is necessary or not), try booting into the bootloader screen first and then run his re-locking script.

if your having issues with the phone being detected... try reinstalling the usb drivers then restarting your computer... and just a heads up.. don't make more then one thread pertaining to the same problem/issue with the phone.. its harder for people to offer you help/advice if they haven't seen what was said/tried before...( i believe i told this to someone already) but yes.. re-install your usb drivers from hasoon's toolkit and see.. if you want to test the adb connection use some of his shortcut commands to boot the phone into recovery or restart it

If you haven't tried resetting it manually through fastboot commands, this may work:
Reboot your phone to bootloader (power button + volume down)
Open a command window and navigate to the folder where your fastboot.exe file is located using the command "cd C:\<folder tree>"
Execute the command "fastboot oem lock"
This worked for me about an hour ago even with my computer not recognizing my phone. Hope it helps.

[Q] Cannot relock bootloader

I'm trying to relock my bootloader and unroot because I cracked my screen and wish to use my insurance to get a new DNA. My computer recognizes my phone when the phone is on, but when i boot into bootloader, the computer does the two beeps like a connection has been found but then is followed by 3 low pitched beeps like it failed. I'm S-ON. I can't do any work on my phone when in bootloader. When I try to enter the command "fastboot oem lock," it just says <waiting for device> I've installed the latest version of HTC Sync Manager so i'm sure the drivers are up to date.

Try a different usb port. Uninstall HTC Sync, as I have seen sync cause problems before. Also try using a different cable if you have one. I have an old T-Bolt cable that will let you charge and transfer, but will not recognize phone in bootloader.
when in bootloader make sure that you are in fastboot and it says "fastboot usb"

HTC One Max International Version - Red Exclamation and Reboot

So I was on my way to unlocking my boot loader and rooting the phone when i ran into this issue. (i am on AT&T)
The phone is stuck on a Red Exclamation Point and then it reboots to a white HTC screen every minute or two.
Where I was at in the process my bootloader was "unlocked", "tampered" displayed. I had even backed up with TWRP. The thing was I couldnt get the USB Debugging turned on. I turned it on before I started the process and was having trouble finishing with superuser and rooting the device. I had been trying forever to setup the S-OFF Feature to NO AVAIL.
Once I unlocked on HTCdev and then setup TWRP I just could never get the phone back to normal.
Once again this is the INT'L Version of the HTC ONE MAX and I just don't know where to turn next.
Please help. I am without phone and just purchased yesterday.
TIA - Mark
Well what you need is an ruu (rom utility updater) which is an updater program officially from htc. but I can't seem to find it for you, perhaps because it's not even made yet..
I'm affraid it's gonna have to go back to the store, are you able to acces to bootloader? if not, then don't worry about it being unlocked, they'll never notice. They're going to reset it for you or give you a replacement.

heres my question how do i know what RUU to search for? how do i figure out which version i need based on my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
Well you say you have the international version? but you got it from at&t so it's carrier branded right?
but first things first, you have to be able to access the bootloader to start the ruu. So can you access it?
when in fastboot: find out the CID by this command: fastboot getvar cid
If it answers with : None. Don't worry, try this command: fastboot oem readcid
Then it will tell you the CID. this code is needed when receiving updates from your carrier.
You will need to find the ruu for your CID, any other ruu won't work.
If you find an international ruu for your phone, you can use that one, but you have to have SuperCID.
You can get superCID after you s-off..
If you have SuperCID you can flash any ruu for your device, be careful though, I bricked my htc one s with a wrong ruu.
Goodluck!
the phone is not sold by ATT but is GSM
i cannot access boot loader.
I cant get past the RED EXCLAMATION (so am I bricked?)
this is the phone...
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-One-Max-F...92559809&sr=8-3&keywords=htc+one+max+unlocked
when in fastboot: find out the CID by this command: fastboot getvar cid
If it answers with : None. Don't worry, try this command: fastboot oem readcid
also i did find the TRWP backup if that matters or helps....
i tried both commands and it says fastboot is notrecognized as an internal or external command
operable program or batch file.
Well if you cannot access the bootloader, then you can't use fastboot commands..
Can you tell me what button pressing combinations you have used to enter bootloader?
Can you try to power the phone off completely and then just hold volume down?
The twrp backup can come in handy when your phone gets a working recovery, don't delete that
when i hold down the vol down...it just stays on RED EXCLAMATION....and when I try and enter bootloader mode with vol it just gives me the reset to the White HTC screen and back to the RED EXCL
i have not been able to power down completely

I'm pretty clueless here, If i were you i would keep trying to get in the bootloader. I have had a similar soft brick on my htc one and after half an hour of pressing every key combination it ended up in the bootloader. If that doesn't work I would let it get replaced on warranty
Okay so now I need some HELP.
I took out the SD Card and the SIM Card and the Bootloader screen comes up.
My choices are FASTBOOT, RECOVERY FACTORY RESET, SIM LOCK etc.
What do I do. I feel like I got one chance at this!
And here is my boot loader
my last question....how do i enable the USB Debugging. It shows as being OFF.
Can i do through boot loader or through the CMD Prompt..?

okey here's what you do, you don't have to have usb debugging enabled. that's only for adb purposes. You need to try and access the twrp recovery from the bootloader. If it doesn't work. try and look for the boot.img file of a twrp recovery for your device and flash that through fastboot

[Q] Relock bootloader for exchange

hey i am rooted at the moment with s off and an unlocked bootloader. i was wondering two things. i need to proper code to relock my bootloader so when i do an exchange at&t won't know what i did. i had an issue of getting adb tor recognize my phone. i went to the fastboot folder in my C drive, and went into where adb was located. heres the thing i was able to reboot the phone using adb. but when i type in adb devices it has a blank and won't let me execute the command to re lock my bootloader. i know i can flash the ruu for my phone using my computer, but i don't think that will relock my bootloader. or show that it's locked. i just need the instructions to do this when im ready so when i do turn in my phone they won't blacklist my phone or whatever.
AT&T does not check such things. As they will simply send the phone back to be refurbed and that will wipe and reset everything. Only if you are trying to do a warranty with HTC, then HTC will check but AT&T does not care.
developer options make sure usb debugging is checked, turn off fastboot in power settings

[Q] Help Touch screen nr

OK I left my phone and when I went back and got it the touch screen wasn't working. I think the idiot there tried to put the operating system on his desktop because he was asking me if I had a disc with one on it. .......
When I restart while pushing vol down, the screen shows:
***UNLOCKED***
JEWEL PUT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.09.0000
RADIO-1. 13. 11. 0830
OpenDSP-v31. 1. 0. 45. 0015
eMMC-boot
Oct 18 2012 15: 46: 20
when I try to fastboot
the screen flashs this :
SD CHECKING
NO GIFT FILE.......
LOADING ....[PJ75DIAG.ZIP]
NO IMAGE!
LOADING...[PJ75DIAG.nbh]
NO IMAGE OR WRONG IMAGE!
LOADING...[PJ75IMG.zip]
NO IMAGE!
LOADING...[PJ75IMG.nhb]
NO IMAGE OR WRONG IMAGE!
Then goes back to the HBOOT screen with the options
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
SHOW BARCODE
I have cleared storage, recovery, factory reset, reload bootloader, reboot,.......[I didn't document what I did or did't do , what order......I didn't keep record of what I did so all I can say LESSON LEARNED] when the phone boots up I have the lock screen but the touch screen doesnt work, just the power, vol +, vol-
I tried using a RUU my pc recognizes the evo , checks the version which is 3. 17. 651. 4 asks if I want to update to 4. 13. 651. 4 goes to screen that says rebooting to bootloader right after that the usb connection is lost and the screen says waiting on bootloader..... the phone screen is black with silver HTC logo in middle, the computer pops up with message that the last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize. The RUU shows error 171 no USB connection and exit button. The USB connection is gone, the black screen HTC logo stays until I restart the phone then I have lock screen no touch screen workings and usb connection working and message at top of screen usb file sharing . I did download minimal fastboot adb and when I tried to use it, I could get the phone to show fastboot usb, but it didnt have the usb connection active. It says usb file sharing, is USB debugging On? ADB does't find device.........I am unlocked S-on and can't discern what I did to do and in what order. I am getting that I need to get S-OFF, I tried RUMRUNNER but adb doesnt reconize device so.......If I try to fastboot with out the sd card in it, it doesn't seem to run bootloader, from HBOOT I choose fastboot, goes to screen, I choose bootloader and it just goes back to HBOOT screen. Please advise.
To run a RUU on your phone you will need to relock your bootloader. You need to install HTC Sync on your PC, which will install needed drivers to your computer. You can run a RUU from the bootloader while connected via Fastboot USB mode. For more info on RUU's and how to run one hit the top link in my sig and read the RUU section. That guide also includes a link to an article on how to set up ADB on your PC.

I read the RUU section, well I read all of it, so I understand that I have to relock bootloader to run a RUU so I installed HTC Sync and sdk. When I connect data cable, my pc opens file viewer and I can look at files on phone. When restart to HBOOT, I lose connection to pc with a message saying usb device has malfunctioned. When I fastboot and go down to reboot or reboot bootloader, I get fastboot usb, but when I try to use adb or fastboot they are waiting on device and never does find it.. I downloaded the usb driver didn't help. HTC Sync says to unlock screen and/or accept request which I can do neither since screen is nr. Is usb file sharing on and dev debug off why this is happening? If so what can I do?
USB file sharing and debugging mode won't matter when using Fastboot commands. Are you on Windows 7, 8, 8.1?
Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1
It's a driver issue with 8.1. Google it & you'll find a few guides to help you get your PC set up properly.
