Wanamlite 3.6 - Rising Volume issue - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just updated to 3.6 from 3.5 - the issue has been in both. I also just flashed Siyah 1.6 but not sure if that would affect it anyway - I'm thinking not.
I like to have my call volume start soft and increase slowly. I'm often in a quiet environment and will hear the call as soon as it rings - having it loud to allow for times I am in the open/crowds scares the bejeesus out of me when I am sitting quietly. As far as I know I lost it when I moved to Wanam but it may have been earlier - I flashed Revolution at one point with Superwipe & I can't recall having the facility since then.. I have been learning which involved flashing lots of different ROMs to find differences/techniques etc.
Any advice on how to get it back would be appreciated.

Hm, I jusgt tried going back to a Stock ROM and it doesn't have the increasing volume option either. Maybe I'm dreaming/confusing it with the function on the Alarm clock I downloaded?
Or perhaps it was a mod in a ROM I tried earlier...
Anyone know of a way to do this? Preferably with a dialler that replaces the normal rather than one which adds an extra on to the current set up.

BAMF 2.0 Beta 6 Can't answer calls

Ever since I updated to BAMF 2.0 Beta 6 from Froyo (did a full wipe), I've been unable to answer calls when my phone is on standby. When somebody calls me, the only option at the bottom is to "End Call," as if I'm already in the call with them. If I'm using my phone when they call, however, both buttons appear as expected. Has anyone else experienced this?
It was happening to me after I disabled the Sense lockscreen. I went in to the Bamf Toolkit/system settings and checked Sense locksreen. It will automatically restart after you change the options. If its on toggle it off, let it reboot and then toggle it back on. It worked for me. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me. I also tried wiping the cache and Dalvik cache. Do you know if you may have changed any other settings as well?
Also, I use Launcher Pro instead of the Sense UI. Could that have anything to do with it?
It turns out that the problem was caused by the Mr. Number app.
Still can't answer calls!
I've read through everything I can find in here and the only solution I've found was to disable Mr Number call blocker, which I do not have. It ONLY does this when I have the sense lock screen disabled (because it's laggy and I prefer the classic slider). I can live with it, but they wouldn't have added the option to disable it if you they knew it would remove the "answer" button. Even a fresh install with no apps does this. I've cleared dalvik and regular cash 2 more times, did another factory reset, and no fix. Anyone ever figure this one out? BTW this is the newest das bamf sense 3.0, but it also happened with 2.0 beta6.
i too am facing this on das bamf 2.1 with sense lockscreen disabled, need a fix! I really do not like the sense 3.0 lock screen
This needs to get put in a sticky or something...
The fix is to use 'WidgetLocker' $1.99 off the market. This has fixed this identical issues on at least 3 different roms that I know of. When you disable the sense lockscreen, you can't answer calls normally unless you use WidgetLocker.
I have been flashing rom after rom in an attempt to find one that runs quickly, and doesn't have some major issue that causes me to re-flash. In this case I was quite satisfied with liquid gingersense 1.2 until I installed the sense 2.1 lockscreen, and then enabled stock android lockscreen under settings. Now, no matter what I switch around I cannot answer calls. This is not including widgetlocker.. I have not bought it yet. I was hoping to find a way around adding an app to fix something that shouldn't be broken. I thought I was set at first because I switched to sense 2.1 lockscreen and tested it with success. Then I switched to stock android lockscreen. Both unlocked the phone when recieving a call and had an answer button.. I went to bed, and then this morning it went back to the same old routine. Very strange. Why would it work, and then cease to work without any additional changes made?
I second the Mr Number suggestion
removed Mr Number and so far so good

[Q] A Few Questions on Apps and Rooting

Hey guys just got a few quick questions, I know there is a likelihood this has been discussed elsewhere but I've not found the resources.
As much as I enjoy seeing a green battery icon ... it isn't of much use without a value. What's the best way to change this icon BUT without flashing a custom ROM, I like my ROM the way it is.
It appears I messed up in uninstalling the apk files ont he stock ROM as I removed the Task Manager, what apps can I use o replace this. I just want something I can use to switch between apps and is BOUND to the home button (long press).
I'm considering removing the camera app and sticking with Camera360 as my ONLY camera app, would this be a good idea. I'm assuming the latter has the originals feature set and much much more so I'm not losing anything at all. Given I've updated the firmware the quality should improve regardless of which app I use right?
Can someone please explain to me why there are 4 voice apps?
On my Desire I remember I could tell the phone NOT to sleep if it were charging, but I can't seem to find this option anywhere, does anyone know the exact location or is there an alternative app?
Is it just me, or does the normal OTA software update option not work? I tried it several times yesterday and I either got a failed connection or it just hung and did nothing ...
On my Desire I had a custom ROM and when I pressed the off button I got an option to reboot, any idea where I can get that option back?
I know since 2.2 they removed the vib->silent->normal settings when changing volume but I really need to use silent sometimes anyone know a way round this?
That's most of my questions for now, thanks for your help guys :-D.
This is interesting because I am very interested in most of these questions as well. Here is my opinions on each.
As much as I enjoy seeing a green battery icon ... it isn't of much use without a value. What's the best way to change this icon BUT without flashing a custom ROM, I like my ROM the way it is.
-There is battery icon mods, search for it in the Theme section

-The only Rom I know of that can change the long press of the home button is CM7.

-The camera app is safe to remove. I would try Titanium and freeze it first if you're worried.

-You might want to detail these better.

I actually just found this one for KF3 so I'm going to test it in a moment

As per the camera, backups aren't my concern more of getting the best quality and featureset.
I will look into tasker, though I was looking for something very light as I only need this one feature.
Rather stick with stock ROM for now, at least until I get a JIG
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Sorry about that thanks.
Just as a quick update, reinstalled the Task manager app and placed the apk back in the system/app folder and it seems to work. Also the battery icon has been updated and looked great :-D.
[*]As per the camera, backups aren't my concern more of getting the best quality and featureset.
I think you underestimate Titanium, it does more than backups.
Oh I don't use Titanium for my backups, I like always starting from fresh, so my contacts, etc are backedup but apps and settings I always prefer doing from scratch.
I tried Camera 360 and unless I'm mistaken the quality seemed LESS than the default app, which was a let down. Maybe I will try again.

karan999's KF3 stock ROM with CF-Rooted KF3 kernel works perfectly, only concern is I feel like when I'm using the browser that the % drops like a rock in contrast to when I'm just doing normal activities like calls and text. In fact I can speak for quite some time and there's hardly a % change.

When you are browsing with WiFi in Stock browser then battery drains at a rate of 1% per 3/4 minutes. Try Opera, it's a little bit of less hogger
Regards.
I've been using 3G/HSDPA, no WiFi access here. I think on data it is about that about of % decrease for me. I can survive with it as I don't browse on the go much but at home it feels like a disappointment.
Anyone figured out how to replace the task manager for long press home button?

[Q] Remove Shutdown and Startup vibration

hello,
newbee here. I have acquire a sansung galaxy S2, and have a lot of fun with it.
trouble started when it rebooted at night. I figured out that some update or application crashes were the cause of it.
I think i rid of most of the issues, and got it pretty stable.
To avoid future complication, I even rid of the startup sound, but I can not rid off the vibration (especially the one when shutting down....)
I think it is part of the basic settings, and I did a lot of researches... no luck
Apps like Silent boot would not work either....
Do anyone know if it's even possible ?
If impossible, is ICS having the same issue, or can this be tuned ?
(i just can't believe no one thought of making that optional ...)
Please help me...
I'm on ICS and don't have that. It is part of system settings - sound. It usually is affected by the mode you have your phone set to (like if you have sound set to Sound and Vibrate or just Vibrate, etc). Try changing to just sound and see if that stops it from vibrating (or just silent mode with no vibrate).
Can also try to untick Vibrate on screen tap.
ICS is sweet... can't go back to GB... what you waiting for?!
Sorry, but this does not work (phone is rooted)
. tried vibration off no luck
. tried silent mode no luck
Is there someone who knows where is configured the vibration settings ?
I mean in which filesystem (full path if possible) ... ?
note: Official Samsung ICS for Unlocked Phones will come soon... unless there is a safe ROM and method to install it. For now I would concentrate on my Vibration issue.
Firstly, be patient. People will try to help you, doesn't mean the first answer fixes your problem.
As I stated... ICS does not have this problem. Phone makes no sound and no vibrate, if you set it that way on ICS.
How about give us more information. You said you're rooted but on GB. Are you using any different type of kernel other than stock? Like Siyah 2.xx?
As the filesystem where you can doodle with removing vibrations... I will leave someone with more experience to deal with that (even if I know the path)... in case I advise you something that can screw things up after.
*you might want to reset the phone - as the system notification/vibration settings should have done the trick.
hello
I upgraded to 4 versions of ICS.
Each one of them did not correct the issue : it still vibrate when shutting down the phone. (darkyrom, OCA, Pure and a "4.0.4" version having a clever 3 way option to launch (Nova, TW and Apex)).
I did not reset the settings yet but I will give it a go.
I will the thread updated.
That's a very strange bug then. The settings to control that though, is not with the launchers but with System Settings.
Maybe try this:
System Settings - Volume <inside there you have 4 settings. Try changing System to very low or all the way off. Then go to the whatever mode you have it set to (like Silent Mode or whatever)... and select Mute.
Then the lower categories of System... uncheck all of them: Keytones, Touch sounds, Screen lock sound, Vibrate on screen tap.
See if that works. If it does, then can narrow it down to one of those settings.
Thank you very much
The simplest things are not always obvious to the common....
It works, the vibration disappeared when /SOUNDS/VIBRATION SETTINGS/Vibrate on touch was set to the lowest. Meantime, the little vibration at startup disappeared as well. Now the phone can crash, update and reboot at night without waking me up ! .. a good logcat reader (just in case) running in background will help cleaning up when some error occurs....
Once again, thank you: that drove me mad.
Glad that worked. You're right, sometimes the simplest things are not always obvious, for everyone ;-)

[Q] Weird sound - any ideas - only in custom ROMs

OK, so this is a really weird one. Never posted before as never had problem like this!
Current: SG3 i9300 international
Flashed a few ROM's without issue. Yesterday I flashed Slim Bean (had it on this device before without issue, so don't think it's the ROM). Full wipe etc before and after flash. After boot, I get to the homescreen and this strange 'notification' type sound repeats, like doo-de-doo doo-de-doo over and over again, sometimes it lags and overlaps itself, sometimes it stops altogether for a few seconds, then starts again. It stops totally when the screen goes off (deep sleep?). Really annoying.
No problem I thought - flash something else, so I tried another two ROMs (PA and Cyanogen 10.1) - full wipe before and after. Exactly the same issue occurs.
No problem I thought - I'll go back to stock, then come back to custom.
Went back to stock ROM (unrooted again) and suprise, suprise the noise was gone! Brilliant - fixed!
Flashed PA 3 this morning and the stupid noise is back again...
Any one got any ideas whats going on here? I don't think it's the ROM's themselves, but not overly techie, so wouldn't rule it out completely - the fact that it happens across loads of different ROMs makes me think it's not that causing it...

[Q] HAPTIC feedback is hard to kill on my S4 Lollipop. It won't stop vibrating. lol

Hi,
I've found that vibrations and the HAPTIC feedback is HARD TO KILL, on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) running Android 5.0.1 (OC1) Lollipop. It won't stop it's little buzzes! lol
Background:
- Running one of the later versions of the OC1 update from muniz_ri (Thank you muniz_ri!!!)
- Problem also occurred with my previous version of that same update (version 3 days after muniz_ri opened his thread)
- Problem is subtle and, while I am sure it happens, it seems inconsistent at times.
The problem:
- My phone vibrates sometimes.
Ok, granted that's not a problem for everyone, but I think it IS a problem if:
1) you've carefully TURNED OFF ALL vibration options,
2) You've disabled HAPTIC feedback in multiple menus, and
3) You've even dragged all three VIBRATION INTENSITY sliders all the way to the left/off positions (Incoming call, Notifications, and Haptic feedback)
4) You're OCD like me.
Anyway, after all that, I still notice tiny "haptic like" vibration activations here and there. Incoming calls mostly though I've noticed other vibration activations sometimes when making menu selections, or changes, etc.
It's weird and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing or if it's maybe a "New Version of Android" thing? (I came from 4.4.2 where the only vibration I couldn't disable was the "power-on" buzz)
Thanks all. Have a great weekend
Specifically...

Specifically... I've noticed I CONSISTENTLY get the little tiny "haptic feedback" buzz when sliding either the red or green buttons to answer or reject an incoming call. wth
Again, I've disabled all vibrations of any kind in every menu that I am aware of (I'm a battery preserving nut) but I cannot seem to stop this version of android from buzzing. (through two different installs of lollipop, btw)
Am I the only one? Does anyone know what I am missing? Is haptic feedback a hardcoded non-optional standard operation under certain circumstances under 5.0.1 (OC1)?
Thanks
Can't stop MY BUZZ
OK seriously, to try to clear this issue, I even just flashed muniz_ri's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4708661) latest version of the OC1 upgrade with NK4 bootloader ROM.
As instructed in his upgrade without losing root post, I used FlashFire 0.20 and, for the heck of it, I chose his DEODEXED variant. Everything went awesome. I am so grateful to muniz_ri for this upgrade and for all his generous work.
However, my Samsung Galaxy S4 on Verizon's network still freakin' vibrates when it wants to!!!
(Please see previous posts for the laundry list of menus I've configured to try to stop my phone from vibrating when I want it to stop. Also note that I'm running in "Power Saving Mode")
This problem did not happen to me ever under any of my previous android versions before 5.0.1 Lollipop (OC1). When I set the phone to silent it was silent, when I set it to sound it made sounds and when I set it to vibrate (haptic or otherwise) it vibrated.
Only now, since upgrading (and this is my third wipe and update of 5.0.1), does my phone seem to persist in throwing vibes when it damn well pleases. lol
Am I missing something?
Am I the only one?
Is this normal?
Are you having a nice day?
Thanks for any insight,
Joe C.
