[Q] Modify SHV-E120L NV settings to enable 850 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm looking at seeing if i can modify the NV settings for the E120L to get 850 and possible LTE working on Telstra.
I have looked at other threads and forums and seen some limited success at doing this on Moto and some phones for Europe. Having looked at the NV dumps from Moto's i see a number of settings for WCDMA 800 and have also reviewed some of the general settings. As the moto i've seen isn't the MSM8660 chipset i am looking to see if i can obtain some NV dumps from MSM8660 phones to base my experiments on.
I note the Galaxy Note is one such phone and it has been released here in Australia.
other SII's from the telstra Network would be OK as at least then i could get a feel for the Qualcomm settings for 850.
Additionally i understand from some of the threads here that the E120k will work on Telstra 1800LTE, this might be a good option for this part.
Can anyone out there help with some NV dumps.
cheers.

[Q] Is the Samsung Galaxy S II penta band 3G 850 900 1700 1900 2100 frequencies

Hi all
Thanks in advance for any help please provide links if possible. So I've finally stopped waiting for Nokia and then Nokia/Microsoft to get their act together and jumped on the android wagon. It seems android has everything I'm looking for (sync to outlook, office document viewing editing, etc not Garmin yet though).
Anyway I've been doing research on the Samsung galaxy s2 and found some discussion on the 3G modem/antenna being penta band. Is this true? If so can I get links, also how do you enable all the bands? Or can you enable those bands that pertain to the firmware and have to keep the other bands on the phone so if you need them you can flash.
Side question I played with a korean S2 and saw that it has NFC on the apps (out of the box). I'm pretty sure this is true but I'm having some doubts as the FAQ and some other forum member claim that no current S2 has this feature.
Thanks
It's quad band 3G. 850/900/1900/2100. It does not do 1700.
From Samsung.com:
Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100

As for NFC, the I9100 does not have it. I'm not sure if any of the other Asian models (different model numbers too) have it or not.
I heard that the modem intel x626 gold is penta band (unconfirmed) that is in the galaxy s2. Also the tmobile version is coming out which has 1700mhz this might lead me to believe that it is penta band in hardware and only needs software.
Only the korean version of the s2 has NFC.
No other version has it as cell phone providers are thinking of releasing it attached to the sim card as soon as the technology has stabilized and is widely available in a number of countries.
here is some information about in this blog.

the sd card sounds like a good idea as a aftermarket part but I thought I saw the SGS2 with NFC on ebay as the I9101. what would happen if I had to add extra memory to the phone?

I emailed Brian Klug that did the review of the SGS2 on Anandtech.

It is one of the most in depth that I have seen but here is what he says about the SGS2 being penta band.
"XG-626 is compatible with more bands, however the limiting factor always is whether the device manufacturer has provided the power amps for those other bands, and in this case there aren't more."

GS2 Korean M250K model

Hey guys,
I have searched throughout the forums but have not been able to find a solid answer. I just got a Korean variant of the SG2, model M250K. I reside in Canada and am on the Fido network which is the same as Rogers. Wondering if this is a software or hardware issue. I am on the stock Korean firmware. The phone is working except I cannot acquire 3G data. Is there anything I can do to let it acquire 3g speeds here, Fido uses the 850 frequency. As far as I have read the korean firmware does not use that frequency hence I am getting edge connections. Are all of the Samsung Galaxy S2 phones built the same ie, GSM phones all have the same abilities. Would flashing to another firmware allow me to connect to the 850 frequency. Basivcally is this a software issue or hardware issue. Thanks guys.

[Q] T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant on Telus?

I’m located in Ontario, Canada. Will the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S Model SGH-T959 (Wind, USA, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 1700/1900/2100 MHz) phone work on the Telus network (no GSM, UMTS 850/1900 Mhz)? Please note that Telus carries a variant phone called Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate Model SGH-T959D (UMTS 850/1900/2100 MHz). I tried everything on the SGH-T959 including adjusting band selection, flashing to stock 2.1 ROM, flashing different radio modems, inputting Telus APN, unlocking the phone). Your help would be greatly appreciated.
This interests me as well. Anybody know?
I missed the line in your post saying that you already unlocked the phone. My mistake. You may verify that it is in fact unlocked, by testing another working SIM.
Try going to your dialer and typing *#*#4636#*#* and press call. It will take you to an advanced menu. Look around through the settings, and you should find a place that has settings such as GSM Only, GSM +CDMA and others. Tinker with them and make sure GSM only isn't set, because that may not allow your network to connect. Keep us updated.
------original post-------
Have you tried the apps in the Play Store that unlock the vibrant? Not sure what they are called but I bet a quick search of the P.S. and you'll find it.
Works like a charm I've heard.
Update: I just went and looked in the Play Store and Galaxy S Unlock by Helroz is the one in particular that I have heard good things about. The others probably work just fine, I just haven't seen anything posted about them.

AWS(Band 4) Working on D803

Haven't seen any post on this, but I got AWS working on a Bell LG G2(D803)
Added band support using QPST and connected to Wind no problem.
Care to share your method?
I roughly followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269
No need to root the phone, it goes into diag mode when you set the usb connection to PC mode.
I used 115868544 as my NV value. Not sure if you can add more bands but AWS was the only thing I was interested in.
Hi, I have tried Googling this but I still don't really know how this works.
I have a D800 that offers LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100.
However, I need LTE 1800 for 4G in New Zealand.
Since Snapdragon 800s have modems on board, can I flash the bands for D802 and get 4G?
I don't really know about this so please help.
Thanks
I didn't mess around with any of the LTE bands, only the WCDMA bands.
I have tried changing WCDMA and LTE bands on my VZW VS980 being used on ATT network.
After several attempts, under different Roms and Kernels, I have been unsuccessful in changing either.
1877 NV value can be changed but leaves phone unusable while 6828 NV value changes do not stick after reboot.
If anyone has been successful in getting VZW branded G2 activated on ATT, please let know.
Here is a thread that has lot of information... Most of the changes, I found are reversible. So go at it...

Are frequency bands locked by software or limited by hardware?

Hello,
I have the F600S, Korean (SK Telecom) version and I live in Estonia. My V10 has 850mhz, but no 800. Our carriers use 800mhz and no 850 :/
I have reception everywhere, like really good, but out of populated areas, I have very poor mobile data speed and it's almost always on GPRS and I think it's because of the 800mhz support.
I'm asking this because I have read a lot of contradicting info. Some say it's just locked software-wize, due to carriers and that all phones have the same radio. So is it like this? Would it be possible for me to unlock 800mhz on my V10?
I know that this might be a general question towards all phones, but as I've understood, it could be different on different models.
Any help would be appreciated! I hope the answer won't be just "no"
Nothing?
Do the following test (no risk involved):
Enter 277634#*# on your num pad, then select Field Test, Modem Settings, LTE Band Selection and then check what happens if you press BAND 20 (success or fail?). If it is success, then there could be the possibility to unlock band 20 on a H901.
Read further here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-enabling-lte-bands-t3137818
and possibly, in the future, there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/general/check-hidden-lte-bands-t3240398
Thanks, but I have the Korean F600S version and nothing comes up with that number/code...
