flashing without usb stock - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

okay so i have lost my usb and i am on rr3.0.6 jellybean rom.
i would like to go back all stock on ics 4.0.3 02 uk rom.
is there a way to flash back without usb, like a flashable zip to flash via cwm
or do i have to wait to get a usb and flash via odin ?

I think only Odin.

There were flashable zips with stock Samsung FW. Look in Original Android Development/General forums.

Check the app Mobile Odin.

[Q] When we flash to official ROM does our Kernel flash to official too?

Hi Guys,
Recently I rooted and flashed with the custom Kernel on my SGS II. But now decided to go back to the official ROM.
So my question is, when I flash it with official ROM (through ODIN). Will the custom Kernel be replaced by the official Kernel that came with the official ROM?
Thank you in advance to the kind soul that replied.
Yes.

Yes, if you needs custom kernel again then you have to flash it separately via Odin again.

If you don't have jig, I suggest to flash to ics first, use triangleaway and then flash back to stock with mobile odin

No official ics releases yet. They were just suggesting a round about way of getting rid of the triangle by flashing a leaked version of ics then using an app to remove the triangle then use something like CWM or mobile Odin to flash back to a GB Rom.
Like I said long winded process.
Just flash an official firmware. Then flash cfroot kernel for that version of firmware. Then if you want to get rid of the triangle use a USB jig available for a few dollars off eBay.

Can I use official udates through kies after root and with CWM

Hi
Seen plenty of threads about updates with kies after rooting, but what about after installing Clockwork mod recovery (still got original rom). Can I use the update process on the phone found in options and the process when connected to a pc and using samsung kies. and if not how to I get the original one back?
Thanks in advance.
Peter.
Yes, as long as you keep a stock rom for your phone region
You will lose root when you accept OTA updates or update via KIES.

I'm gonna flash JetMod (custom rom) on my S Advance.. now I've got a doubt.. Will KIES and KIES Air work -- or does this 2 only work with the Stock ROM..?

[REQUEST] ics bootloader

Can anyone give me any ics bootloader to flash via odin to fix the wifi error from coming from jellybean beta to cm10 please
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I don't know if it's possible to flash bootloader only... I'd say you better flash complete ICS firmware which should come with ICS bootloader.
Then: Try to connect to wifi; if not: flash ICS firmware again and try to connect to wifi. It should work now. If so, you're ready to flash cm10 again Cheers.

You need a Google search or sammobile not seen any personally .
But boot loader flashing on SGS3 ???? I|ts not SGS2 .
Odin is multi use thats why boot loaderoption is in it .
Two words that worry me PIT and Bootloader in regard to bricking phones .
jje
The same has been answered in cm10 thread itself, while flashing a stock firmware from odin, tick the update boot loader option, Job done.
Edit:
I have done it personally to fix the wifi issue and it worked

trouble reverting to 4.04

I recently posted a thread asking for help reverting my international gs3 back to its original 4.0.4 state after flash in the super nexus ROM. The reason I want to do this is so that I can get the official 4.1 update from Samsung when it is released. I followed the instructions from the video by totallydubbed but I saw he was flashing from another ICS ROM not jb. When I reset my flash counter it said "Samsung official and under that it was still saying custom, on his phone both said official. When I plugged the phone into the computer it would not recognize the phone, nor did Odin.....is there anything else I can do? Thank you in advanced for any input.
Instal drivers or change USB port or restart pc

I have the drivers installed because I used Odin to root the phone when it was still on 4.0.4. Would it be different drivers since its running 4.1 right now?
Reinstall driver.
Get your phone in downloading mode and try plug it again.
Try with other usb port

Did you do a factory reset after the flash? I do believe that is necessary to clear that status

You can flash PhilZ-kernel with built-in CWM recovery. Have a look at PhilZ-kernel thread to find the appropriate kernel for you.

from where can I get it?
does it require PC and odin or not?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270 you can find your appropriate kernel, but you need to choose the right one, because the latest kernels are for JellyBean only.
No, you don't need Odin/heimdall and you don't' need a PC even if it's better to have one at hand when it comes to issues.
One hint: read and try to understand everything before flashing. If you are unsure, ask, otherwise there is a chance to brick the device, especially with 4.0.4 stock (-> brick bug)

okay thanks dude, but is there a safe one even if with a PC, I'm used to rooting and flashing recovery mods and kernels using PC and odin for my s3 and it is very safe and no chance of bricking the phone, so is there a similar way for s2 ?

just download the 'Siyah kernel v 5.0.1' (.tar file for flash with Pc odin) from the link below and flash the same on ur phone using PC odin, it will root ur phone and install a working, brick free cwm recovery, which u can use to flash any custom rom/kernel of ur choice

thanks a lot bro, will give it a try today
btw im going to flash the latest jellybam on i9100 so will siyah have any problem regarding the ROM ? i mean will there be any lag or something ?
CWM matters, not the kernel you're actually on.
Of course if you're on 4.0.4's kernel you can't wipe.
Sent from...this is not even my S2
The Siyah kernel will be overwritten during the jellybam flash anyway......so as mentioned. ...the kernel doesn't matter/won't cause compatibility issues
Sent from my rooted, de bloated, stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and XDA developers app
ok thanks a lot dudes that really helped a lot
