[Q] Phone stuck in odin mode kernel flash gone wrong i (do not turn off target)! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all
UK I'm running Pa2.13 and flashed siyah 1.6A9 L17 on UK Samsung gti9300 and received update from goomanager for my roM
I downloaded pa v2.13.1 wiped cache./dalvik then flashed the update then I flashed gapps again and then wiped cache again and rebooted my phone. All worked fine but I realised steaks had disappeared off my phone so I decided to re flash the siyah over cwmr (probably my mistake?)
Rebooted my phone and went to Samsung logo and then black screen so I waited 30mins, and nothing still. I went into download mode odin mode by mistake by pressing volume up key. Now my phone in recovery mode and says Downloading do not turn off target? Am I bricked? Also can I put my phone on charge?

Hi!
You are not bricked. Go to download mode and flash a stock firmware. It will bring you back to square one

That got me back to phone attempting to boot up but just remains black screen after Samsung logo appears. Can I enter cwmr and reset to factory? Or enter Odin mode and flash back to stock?

Thank you I use mobile odin on stock, rooted (doh), i9300 with siyahkernel 1.7 ... i wanted to try out codeworkx latest CM10 on my 2ndROM and installed (cm's) ROM Manager. After installing (ROM Manager) i used it to flash CWM. I started to think "maby read before do" so I read some of chainfires comments on CF-root (which i used preor to installing Mobile Odin Pro) and he said that his CWM isnt compatible with ROM manager. Ok... I flashed a "undo governor tweaks zip" with mob odin and injected SU, Everroot and mobile Odin hoping this would undo any possible damage i had done. Well i wanted to do a ROM backup and thought that was doable in CWM so i rebooted, vol down - home - power, and pressed vol up (maby completely off course there but I ended up with a stuck odin, same as OP. I just did what you said (while it was stuck...) and the phone nicely rebooted and started up normally.
A long post "just" for saying thank you, but I thought it was appropriate that I told (people) what I did and what happened...
Cheers!

[Q]My galaxy s2 doesn't boot and I can't get into recovery mode

Hi everyone.
That's my problem.
Last month I bought on the net a used Galaxy s2.
It arrived with this configuration
android version 2.3.7
number build MIUI 1.12.02
Kernel 2.6.35.14-Siyah v.2.1.1
modem XXKI4.
I decided to restore factory settings but after that the phone doesn't boot and I can't get into recovery mode (but I have no problem with download mode).
I thought maybe I do something wrong to get into recovery mode but I press simultaneuosly vol up+home+power for more than 30 sec without results.
I tried to flash the same kernel with odin but nothing to do.
Any idea?
Thanks for your help.
Try re-flash a root kernel with Odin such as Chainfire's CF-root.
It will re-install the custom CWM Recovery, then you can re-flash the ROM.zip with CWM Recovery directly from the sdcard.
Just read the instructions and FAQ on each thread exactly. If your not sure which CF-root kernel, just try.
Else, you can return to stock by flashing a ROM from Intratech's thread with Odin.
You will then have to re-root (if that's what you want).
Why cf-root? Hes on miui, he should flash another version of siyah/fluxi/xcell69 kernel with pc odin to make it work. Download mode - odin 1.85 - PDA = kernel - flash.
Btw if he did factory reset on recovery mode, its not a big problem, but if he did via in phone menu under 'about phone', i dont think my method above will work. That factory reset wiped everything and he should flash back to stock with odin.
Rom : Official MIUI 2.1.6
Kernel : Xcell-69X
Modem : XXKP8

I said "such as...."
Other than that, your just repeating repeating what I already said. Cheers

Firstable I thank you for your answers.
I solved my problem flashing a more recent Siyah Kernel.
After that the phone boots and now I can get into recovery mode, too.
No worries.

Turn off the device, remove the battery, wait about 90 seconds an insert a jig (if you have it). If you don`t have a jig do the above, insert the battery and go in download mode (volume down + power button + menu button) and flash a stock rom with Odin 1.85. Roms`s can be found on sammobile.com or in Intratech`s thread (original development).
Good luck

Stuck Galaxy S2
Hi,
I'm desperate about my Galaxy S2. Can't start or reach CWM menu after a failed firmware upgrade.
Tried ClockworkMod-Recovery_4.0.1.4 and CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5. Odin did its job successfully but I can't get CWM (Vol.up + Home + Power)
Only the boot up image. I can go to download mode only with a jig that doesn't reset counter.
A few days ago I got access to the CWM menu.
What am I doing wrong?
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you

hi.. plz help me to fix this??

Phone bricked, help needed!!

Hi guys
I have just flashed Omega v8.1 to my phone and reflashed CWM touch, rebooted into recovery and now my phone won't boot. It turns on and just displays the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen. I have tried flashing via the Galaxy s 3 toolkit but this requires USB debugging to be enabled. It looks as though it is not enabled as the toolkit does not recognise my phone.. The only thing I can do is boot it into download mode.
Any clues??
Thanks
If you can go on download mode, then flash stock firmware via odin.

Firstly your phone is fine, it can be easily fixed one way or another.
Can you still boot into recovery?
If not, reflash recovery using ODIN via Download mode
Once you have access to the recovery, try wiping the following:
Data/Factory reset
Cache
Dalvik Cache
Format /system (probably not required but just in case)
And then reflash the omega ROM, making sure it is not corrupt; maybe redownload/check MD5 sum to be sure.
If, for whatever reason you are still having problems with the phone not booting into Android, I would try flashing a different ROM for the time being.
Also, you posted this in the wrong section
Just flash the stock rom?
Yep bricked phone isn't really a problem, unless it's hardware related.

Ive tried flashing stock ROM via ODIN through the toolkit but this requires USB debugging mode. The issue is not with Omega as I was able to use my phone after flashing, I think the CWM flash didnt work properly.
How else can I flash via ODIN, the toolkit is the only way I know.
Thanks for the comments guys...

I d say, simply get odin separately, then re-create the same settings as when the toolkit does it.
It really is very simple once you ve done it once or twice Don t panic and take the time to make sure the right boxes are checked and double-triple check then reboot in Download mode, plug it in then gogo !

If I select flash via odin in the toolkit (option 8), it says make sure that USB debugging is enabled... If i try and continue it just waits for usb debugging and does not flash.

Ok, sry, then the toolkit reboots your device first to download mode via adb, take the already given advice to use Odin itself, just download it put the Rom tar (or tar.md5) into pda, make sure that only auto reboot and reset time is checked, reboot to download mode continue by pressing up, plugin the cable and press the start button at Odin.
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9300 mit Tapatalk 2
Forget running the toolkit, forget USB debugging mode. You do not need it for now.
And there is no need to download or setup ODIN or anything like that.
Just go to folder/directory where you installed the toolkit (usually C:\Samsung Galaxy S3 ToolKit) and look for the file called 'Odin3_v3.07' or 'Odin3_v3.04' or whatever version you find. Then run it; tada, ODIN is running now!
Now, put your phone in download mode. To do this, hold VOL DOWN and HOME and POWER buttons together and let go when you see the 'Samsung Galaxy S III' logo come up.
Then it will load up a screen that says press VOL UP to continue (and enter download mode). Press it.
Now it should say 'Downloading do not turn off target!'
Connect your USB Cable and proceed to flash a new CWM recovery using ODIN
Then once you have flashed a new recovery, boot into it (VOL UP & HOME & POWER buttons together).
Then follow my instructions from my previous post.

i9100 boot loop recovery

hi, I have SGS-II I 9100. I was using root box 4 rom on my SGS-II with default kernel. All of a sudden day before yesterday the baseband and IMEI just vanished. Flashing the OEM rom seemed as solution. So I flashed the Android 4.1.2 India rom. It did flashed it successfully. The phone restarts and shows android logo and does something. When it restarts again it goes directly into recovery. I have tried with different versions but its still the same. Tried to flash Siyah kernel and Install custom rom. It still does that goes directly into CWM recovery screen. Can anyone help with this issue. I am clueless on how to fix it. Forgot to mention it does not reboot automatically. When clicked on reboot it shuts down. I then need to pull out the battery and get it back into it and then start the phone.

Thank-you for your reply. I flashed Stock i9100 from Sam firmwares. Gave a try to India, UK and italy edition. It does not go to CWM but rather goes into android recovery wizard. The screen where you see red triangle with android died or something. Its been more than a day and still cant find how to fix it. After flashing the stock firmware when i reboot my phone I get to a screen with android and status bar right at the bottom of it. Probably installs boot loader or something it the second screen once you reboot your phone after flashing the stock firmware. The next time you reboot you should be getting to OS right? But it takes me to recovery instead? What does it expect me to do in the recovery screen? I really don't know. I can access only 2 modes Download and recovery.
Here's the thing..3e recovery is the samsung default recovery mode whereas CWM is a customized one.
You either flash it via Odin or you flash a custom kernel via odin to get it.
Anyway, as long as you are NOT on 4.0.4 you can factory reset and wipe cache via stock recovery (3e).
Again, what did you flash exactly?
