[Q] Can unrooting fix BT issues? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently flashed the Liquid ICS ROM and it is great but I can't stream music through BT anymore. I have tried every radio possible including the leaked combo that everyone said would fix this issue but nothing has worked. I even tried returning to my previous ROM from BAMF and I still can not get the media to stream. I can get phone calls to work with it, just not music. At this point I was hoping to just unroot and get the BT working again but I want to make sure that this will fix my problems. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

I've seen that formatting your system and data and such in EXT3 fixes that issue. I haven't done it myself because it takes me so long to get my phone set up but I believe it was mentioned in the development thread

I am using the music streaming both Google Play and Pandora without any problems.
But I cannot get the BT voice dialing to work with Google Now.

[Q] Audio out of sync

I have a Galaxy S Vibrant 2.1 and ive noticed that the audio is out of sync. Its not only with videos and games but the phone entirely. Even when i press the volume buttons theres an audio delay. Anyone know how to fix this?
Note: My phone is rooted and i even installed the lagfix in hopes of fixing the audio problem but didnt work
You may want to try and flash a kernal with voodoo sound that may help. Also think about updateing the phone to at least to android 2.2.
There was alot of problems with 2.1, just a suggestion.

[Q] ICScrewd stereo Bluetooth issue

Before I say anything, this is the best ROM I've used for any of the devices I've owned. Simply for the fact that I would rather fix it than flash with something else!
Anyway, the problem is my phone no longer works with my car for media streaming through bluetooth. Worked fine prior to flashing with ICScrewd 2.01. It does pair and the phone functions works otherwise.
Is this particular to this ROM or something else? This is a very stripped down build, which is why I liked it.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Sarelon
I can add one thing to this, for the first 3 days and 4-6 reboots after upgrading to 2.0.1 (Flashed 2.0, and then the 2.0.1 upgrade later) anytime I would connect my stereo headset (RF-MAB2) the phone app would FC, I would lose phone signal, data, and bluetooth/wifi. They would all come back 30s-1m later, but upon reconnecting the bluetooth headset and hitting play on an audio file it would play, but no audio would come through the headset or the phone speaker. On the other hand my Jawbone Icon connected and worked just fine at all times, no crashing of the phone app or anything else.
One problem though, when I decided to go and capture a log file of it happening .... it ceased to happen, and hasn't happened since, with or without the alogcat running. I'm completely baffled but do hope we can fix this so it doesn't happen in the future.
i think it might be a 2.3.6 issue but i could be wrong. were you on 2.3.4 when it was working?
I experience this same problem with my bt and my alpinew900 rich has tons of bugs anyways...

So are my options non-existent? Will it be supported soon, is there any ROM close to what you built with BT HID support or am I going back to stock?
Again, fantastic work on this ROM.

[Q] Bluetooth music streaming not working on Stock and working on AOSP!!

Hi everyone, I've had my phone for about 5 months now and I've tried a bunch of stock, custom and AOSP roms. And one thing that really bothers me is that every time I'm using a Samsung Rom and I try to stream music to my car's radio using bluetooth, the music will play for 5 to 10 minutes and then it stops. The radio shows I'm connected but it doesn't respond anymore and my phone shows that the music is still playing but I get no sound. But, when I'm using an AOSP rom such as CM or MIUI I never experience such problem. I really like MIUI and CM but I think overall stock is just a better package.
Anyone else having the same issue? This is really annoying! I've searched the forum but no one seems to have the same problem.
No one??? :-(

Why not just use a Rom that works?
I use Criollo v38, no problems at all.

I haven't tested this one, but I used to have Cognition, Lightning and now I'm on CheckRom RevoHd v5 and none of them worked. Does Criollo have anything different regarding the bluetooth?

Anyone else have bad static using bluetooth audio?

I have a jvc deck that has built in blutooth. It routes the sound they the car speakers and uses a wired microphone. Call quality transmit an receive is pretty damn good. However, when using bluetooth audio...say pushing anything from the music app, or pandora, there is alot of static attached to the signal. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any solutions. I am rooted but still stock. I use poweramp as well as the default player at times.

I have a jvc deck as well, and I don't have any problems with static over bluetooth. I use Pandora and Google play music, and both work great for me on stock, CM7, CM9, and MIUI. MIUI actually works the best for me as far as bluetooth playing nice with the head unit.
Never used power amp or stock tho, so I can't speak for that.

I have no issues with mine Pandora, stock music player ,google play music, TuneIn Radio work good... with my car's unit
Thought I really hate the annoying noise when I use the wired earphones.
Ill have to experiment with a few other players. I rarely use the phone for streaming in the car. Odd, I really dint pick up any noise with wired cans. On a side note, I found a new player 'neutron' that blows away anything I've used this far in the sq department. Its a paid app that offers a limited use 'timed' trial.

Similar issue
I've also got a semi-stock Photon 4G. Been using it fine in my Ford Fusion w/ Sync. Sunday, tried to make a phone call and it was just static. Turned off the bluetooth on my phone and it was fine. Now, it's unable to make a call through Sync. It pairs fine, just nothing but static. Why the sudden change? No new updates from Motorola or Sprint that I'm aware of. BTW, by semi-stock, I mean it's rooted. No custom ROM's or what not. Any ideas? I've googled some and it seems that the Photon 4G has some bluetooth related issues. I really like the phone and had really planned on holding off on upgrading since there wasn't a real 'need'. Another issue I've had lately is receiving texts w/ no sound. It vibrates, but doesn't give me a sound. I checked the setting and even when scrolling through the notification sounds, it doesn't do it. Then it will randomly do it. Rebooted and battery pulls have been done. Really, REALLY don't want to do a reset. Ideas? Are they related?
I use bluetooth audio everyday, and I've used every rom except stock. Bluetooth always works very well. Rule out your jvc device first, test your Bluetooth on something else. Then reset or reflash, then use your warranty.

I also intermittently get static when making calls in my Focus via Sync over Bluetooth. I can faintly hear the caller in the background, but the static is MUCH louder than the person. When this occurs, there are some other symptoms the phone exibits:
No audio will play via multiple apps. Tested in Pandora (cycles from one song to another), Amazon MP3 (same as Pandora), Youtube (Gives an error about audio), Voicemail (Unable to play the message).
Alarms only vibrate, no audible alarm.
When trying to do a call via speakerphone, the person on the other end cannot hear me.
The fix I have found is to reboot. The phone is stock, but has been rooted, and has occurred for the past few months, even with the update that came out at the beginning of August. I tried reflashing it in June with the 198 SBF, but didn't do a reset of the data. The reflash succeeded, but the problem is still occurring. I removed "Words with Friends" and "Scramble with Friends" last night to see if it helps.

Lt_data - I'm sorry to say that the only solution I found for mine was upgrading to an EVO 4G LTE and getting a credit for my photon...lol. Good luck!

Rats. Too bad I hate Sense, so I'll probabpy go with a Galaxy S III, even though I dont like TouchWiz. However, Touchwiz is preferable to Sense. Might go Galaxy Nexus, not sure. For now, haven't had it reoccur yet, but we'll see.
Good news: not a single reoccurance of the static over bluetooth and no audio. I still wonder how an app can effectively crash the audio stack, though. Oh well.

[Q] Play Music Only Produces Sound Through Right Headphone

Recently flashed Team D.I.R.T's Dirty Unicorns v.3,5 ROM and have been experiencing problem with listening to music. When trying to listen to music through Google Play Music, I would only be able to hear sound out of the right headphone when plugged into my phone. Sometimes, on rare and random occasions, a song would play and both headphones would produce sound.
I've tested my headphones through other apps such as Apollo, YouTube, and PVSTAR+ with no problem. My headphones are not defective in any way because they run flawlessly through these apps mentioned and my laptop when plugged in. The problem only lies in Play Music.
Any idea of what the problem might be and possibly how to fix it?
Try flashing this file see if it helps.

I experienced this with several roms after they upgraded to the new 3.4 kernel. Couldn't get a fix for it, back on mean bean for now. I think deck has ironed out a lot of things with the new kernel, you might want to ask around on irc.
I'm not sure if it will work on that Rom but in the past I've seen the fix being modifying a line in your build.prop from
Lpa.decode=true to
Lpa.decode=false
Save and reboot.
