[Q] Bluetooth stuck in call mode after connected to car - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been searching around for a solution to this issue for a long time, but seems like I'm the only one suffering from it.
My Telus S3 works great with my 2005 Acura TL for a few weeks, and then suddenly, after I go into the car, the bluetooth will connect automatically, but the Handsfree Links system within the car will stuck, showing a "In Use" message on the HUD, as if I'm making a call. And the only voice commands available are: Transfer, Send, Go back, Cancel, none of the commands go anywhere, even the go back and cancel wouldn't do a thing, as well as the "Hang up" button on the steering wheel. It will stuck in that status for anywhere around 5-20 mins, and then it'll hang up by itself and everything works fine again, I can make phone calls and everything.
The only solution I found is to go into my phone and call someone, before the call even connected, I hang up, this will "reset" the call status, and it won't stuck anymore. But this is very annoying to do every time you entering your car...
Un-pairing, delete and re-pairing doesn't help either. As soon as I pair my phone to the car, it'll stuck. I tried my old Galaxy S on my car after this happens, it works like a charm. And before I got my S3, I've been using my S1 with my car for more than 2 years and never had a problem.
So this definitely seems like something is wrong with my S3, I talked to Telus support, they said they never heard of this problem before, and they suggest me to do a factory reset, but it'll be a pain to reinstall everything so I haven't tried it yet, just want to hear what you guys think first.
EDIT: sorry, just realized I posted on the wrong forum, please move this for me, thanks.

So nobody has this issue?

bump

Just found out my friend using a S2 is having a similar issue with his bluetooth handset, and yet there's nobody on xda-developers has this problem?

hmmmm....

There's loads on XDA with issues with the bluetooth, it's the reason this will probably be my last Samsung phone as they simply can't get it to work reliably and the same issues keep cropping up on all their models.

Yes i can see that, but it seems like people are having issue *pairing* the phone to the car, but my phone pairs with my car every single time, never had a problem with that, it's just after pairing, the car got stuck in call mode for 5-20mins..... :crying:

Bluetooth phonebook download slowing down. Reset bluetooth without a hard reset?

I'm pairing my Touch Pro with a 2010 Kia Forte. Every time the phone connects, the car downloads the phonebook. After every call, the car decides to download the phonebook again. It's an annoying feature because you cannot issue any commands to the car to make any more phone calls until the phonebook is completely downloaded.
It's not a big deal initially, because the download only takes maybe 20-30 seconds. The problem is that over the course of time, that download gets longer and longer and having to wait 5, 10, eventually 15 minutes between making calls is a pain.
I'm on my second Touch Pro which I have owned for about 6 weeks now and I'm up to a 2 or 3 minute download. My previous phone showed all these same problems. Deleting the pairing on the phone and car and recreating it do not fix anything. Turning off Bluetooth and soft resetting the device does not help either. The only solution I have found that works is a complete hard reset of the phone and then recreate the pairing.
Does anybody know of a cache I can clear or a way to restore Bluetooth back to it's original state or any other solution beyond a hard reset? Having to hard reset the phone every couple months and get it back the way I like it is getting to be a pain.
I had the same issue with my Kia Sorrento. Sort of. While it would only need to download once each time i got in and turned the key, it was ungodly slow. I have have a Touch Pro (Raph800) on alltel/verizon. After upgrading to wm6.5 the process only takes about 30 seconds now. I am not sure, but make sure you have beam turned on. It was on by default after the upgrade and i just left it that way. Now its done before I get out of the driveway.
I have a feeling the cache getting full is the one in the car and not in th phone... See if there is any way to clean that.
The only thing I can do in the car is completely delete the pairing. This does not help the issue, because it is still slow when I create the pairing again. When I got the car brand new off the lot, the dealership said they've never noticed a phone sync so slow. The phone was a couple months old at that point and I just assumed that's the way it was meant to be. It wasn't until the Touch Pro started to develop keyboard issues and I decided to do a hard reset that I found out the sync time could be remarkably improved. I'm now on my second Touch Pro because of that loose keyboard cable which seems common to the model. This new phone would sync quickly when it was brand new right out of the box. I thought maybe I would be lucky this time and not experience the same issues, but this one is back to syncing slow again. The car just says "Downloading Phonebook" for about 5 minutes after connecting, and after any call. If I dial a contact on my phone it will go through the car system, or if I receive a call it will generally show the caller ID on the car's screen. I just can't voice dial any calls until that phonebook is completely downloaded, which defeats one of the main points of having a hands free system. I've tried also deleting the partnership in activesync to take off all the data off the phone and then recreate that it to see if maybe the data on the phone is somehow the culprit, but that hasn't helped either.
I should mention that I am running the stock WM 6.1 that came with the phone. I have a feeling that like Thelgord, WM 6.5 might speed things up. The only thing is I'm concerned this keyboard will give out on me too and I've been hesitant to attempt any upgrades while the unit is still under warranty. It's using a non-branded stock rom, because it comes from a local cellphone company as opposed to any of the big name carriers, and i haven't seen anything out there for WM6.1 that isn't branded as carrier-specific if I need to return this back to a stock rom someday. If I knew that 6.5 would solve my problem, I would do it anyways as fixing the keyboard on my own looks pretty simple.
I've also never flashed a phone before, so I'm worried that I will immediately brick it. All the tutorials seem to be assuming your phone is from one of the major carriers.
Similar issues..different phone
I'm a noob so I'm attempting to follow the rules, feel free to correct me if this is the wrong place to post this question.
I have a 2011 Kia Sorrento (which I love) and I cannot seem to get my unrooted HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G on T-Mobile) to properly pair. Address book issues, Will not play pandora or spotify through speakers (though spotify thinks it is doing it properly) Cannot actually make a phone call EVER. I love my car and really want this feature to work. My DH's Rooted Phone (Same model as mine, were purchased together) works just fine. (He thinks this is the best car ever for riding shotgun...I want my radio back...)

Now no sound

Another bug i expect
No sound plays, ringtones music nothing, camera says "Camera Failed" on launch and all videos show "cannot play this video"
Rebooted and still the same.
Oh what fun
I have seen the same loss of sound and video stopped playing, but for me rebooting has fixed it (so far )
I also have a suspicion that it's the audio service crashing which might be causing some of my spontaneous reboots...
Roll on the next update from Samsung... hopefully 2.3.4 which fixes some of the battery issues too.
Left it off for an hour and now seems to be ok

Factory reset if problem comes back .

Soundpool error
Just happened again, so I took a look in aLogCat...
Lots of Soundpool (2697) Error creating AudioTrack
My guess is that something is leaking audio streams and this stops any audio playing and the knock on effect is no video either
Not had it happen again (yet) ,
Lost trust in the phone, will it ring? will i miss an important call?, was happy with the G Tab thats the only reason i purchased the SGS2, oh well you live and learn.

I know how frustrating it must be, but it's only one phone out of how many thousands sold?
Just get it exchanged.
Factory reset cures many problems .

Cant do an exchange, only option is to send it away for a month for repair
It happened again, so I checked what happens when I get an incoming call...
No ring tone, only vibrate. When you answer the phone you can't hear the other person and they can't hear you... not great for a phone
It's clearly a bug given that the phone works fine for hours and then the audio service fails.
I run with audio clicks turned on, so it's obvious when it's failed, unlike a friend at work who runs his in silent mode...he also won't know when the phone has done a spontaneous reboot (mine did just now...sitting on the desk with screen off and locked).
Roll on XE3!
Mine done the same last night. I have turned on touch sounds for now. Also get reboots with it just sleeping on the shelf.
Strange as i have two SGSII and the other is fine. Both KE2

Done a factory reset as it was getting annoying. Now it's been 24 hours and i've counted 8 spontaneous reboots all while phone sleeping.

Do you still have hangs/reboots after the OTA?

There are a few posts out there where people still have some issues after the OTA, but it seems that, at least for some, things might also be better.
How many of you still have issues with the phone hanging or rebooting now that you've had the OTA update?
I also wonder if maybe it is happening because I'm using Go Launcher Ex rather than Moto's.
I am using the stock launcher and get hangs/reboots every couple of days. Before the update it would just shut off, and I would plug the USB in to get it to power back up, since the update I have only had it do that a couple of times, but I am having reboots now too (maybe instead of additional shutdowns). I'm not really sure if that's better though :/
I still get muted audio, but now I don't have to restart the phone to make calls. Just try calling again and again and it eventually it will go thru with sound. That said the phone had become very laggy since the update.
No more muted calls I or random reboots on my photon or my girlfriends....
I used the leaked update thru rsdlite ...she flashed hers thru the OTA
Again no issues since the update ..loving the phones

I am not seeing any lagging nor other issues since the sprint ota update. Note, I have not rooted my phone and am using "motor blur".
I do not usually call out a lot so I cannot say for sure if the no audio calls are still an issue for me. I also power down and start up my phone every morning.

No lag at all and in fact it became even faster after I did a factory reset after the OTA. as for lockups I have none of that, but sometime when I go to make a call it'll reboot the phone, but that is usually because the radio is already on the fritz. But when I say radio I'm talking about the 3G/voice radio the WIFI and 4G radios still function perfectly fine while the 3G is totally locked up and the bars never go up or down at all. The restarts from the radio have become less frequent it seems and I am starting to see it do it if I jump between roaming and Sprint. So I'm going to run as Sprint only for a week and see what happens.
Also a funny thing I noticed is that before I did the factory reset I was rooted and after the FR I was still rooted??? very odd...
I did the ota update the day it came out and am not having any muted call issues but am having an issue where the phone hangs once a day and becomes unresponsive. The only way to get it working is to remove the battery for a few seconds and replace it and restart the phone. I had called sprint and they had me hard reset to stock. That worked for two days and its back to doing it everyone day again. I don't know about anyone else, but this is not making me happy I really needs a stable phone..... Help!

Mine reboots from time to time as well. I went to the circus yesterday & was trying to use the camera & it wouldn't start up. I power cycled the phone & it was good to go. Then I got a phone call, the audio going to my bluetooth (Jawbone Era) got real bad, to the point I had to turn it off & back on. The sound was coming from both the bluetooth (static & spurts of words) & the handset (regular audio). Anyone experienced anything like this?

I got mine after the update but I have not had any muted calls...I rarely call out or receive on my phone though. I do however have random reboots while streaming music or using navigation on my phone. I also will lose the ability to stream Last FM and / or Pandora randomly while I still have full cell signal. After starting and stopping playback several times I can get them to work. I did have this issue with my old HTC Hero as well but no where near as often.
I was reading a web page in a restaurant & it just rebooted on me. No rhyme or reason. I want to like this phone but paying $600 for it to have this problem is a bit much to take.

I've had a few reboots since the update but I narrowed the problem down to the hearing aid option under call settings. Once I turned off that feature, my phone has been virtually flawless. HELL YEAH!!!

Big Help Needed

Right guys, I have been on the Original Development section asking similar questions and had good suggestions, but here is the problem in a lot more detail as I don't want to spam the section with the same problem and get literally no reply as people are busier with other things on there. Basically the phone has it's two speakers, the earpiece at the front and the speaker at the back both of which are working and functional. However the problem lies in the phone calls. I bought the phone on stock firmware, latest UK generic update it was and everything was fine. I decided to root the phone and flash PA 2.13.1. As soon as I did this I came across a few issues, one being NFC not working and the current and seemingly unfixable issue that I have with the phone calls where, as I receive a call and answer it the microphone doesn't work, I can't hear anyone and they can't hear me. Both on loud speaker and through the earpiece. It's as if they disable when a call comes through. But when I hang up or they hang up I can hear the end call tone, the beep coming through the earpiece. So I know that it works. The same goes for loud speaker, however I already knew that it still worked as I can play music through it cleanly. It's in perfect working order.
I've tried several solutions, including flashing new modems, RIL etc. Flashing 3 part software. I have yet to try flashing the 3 part software with a .PIT file, like mx.pit as I simply can't find that file (if someone would be as kind to link me it) anywhere. I'm currently back on stock XXALE8 UK firmware. The problem is still there. I STILL can't make a phone call without this annoying thing happening, and as I said, the problem wasn't there before I flashed PA. It's so f****** annoying as I followed the instructions perfectly, I mean, I've been using android since 2009 and rooting and flashing is nothing new to me. I've never had an issue as severe as this one.
Anyways, thanks in advance for any suggestions you guys can throw at me, I know you'll all agree when I say the GS3 kicks ass and you'll know my pain when I tell you it's being a broken piece of crap haha!
EDIT: Right, I have made another definite discovery with this problem! It's to do with my signal. When I answer a call or make a call, it appears to connect to the caller for roughly about 0.01 seconds as it says it's connected, but then it hangs silent for a while, about 13-15 seconds before disconnecting saying there is no service in the area. Give it another five seconds and the signal reconnects. It is the exact same effect you would have if you were on the phone on the train and went through a tunnel, it would say you were connected when you aren't. Does this make sense, anyone know what the cause of this could be?

Phone call, text, and speaker problem

My mom's S4 has been a good little workhorse for a year now, but recently it's started acting bizarrely. At random, when she dials, nothing will happen. It will say dialing, the call timer will start, but she can't hear a ringing tone, the caller, and the caller can't hear her. I've looked this up, and it seems to be a common enough problem for S4 users, with no solution that I've been able to find. I've tried to see if something is jamming the headphone slot, but nothing is in there. The only way we can get calls to work again is to reboot the phone, and that works only around half the time.
At the same time, any time this problem is present, Wifi won't auto-connect, or connect at all. It will recognize the hotspots around us, but it just marks them as "saved". If I try to connect, it attempts it, then reverts back to saved. This fixes itself after the reboot as well.
Does anyone know what's going on? Is this a hardware problem that I'll need to replace the handset because of? Will a factory wipe or a ROM fix this? I've been wanting to try a clean, easy ROM for her, so maybe this is the time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
On the subject, any suggestions for ROMs? The Google Play Edition one looked nice, but I didn't know if that came with any significant down sides for her. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a factory data reset is long over due. It should fix any issues thats been going on. If not I would take it into Verizon to get looked at, or call to get a replacement.
