Hi all,
Just some observations:
After installing CM10 Preview by Pershoot on my GT-7500, I've noticed quite drop in battery life over the Stock ROM
I understand that JB will naturally use more battery for it's functions, and so will an overclocked kernel.
My range set to 608Mhz-1400Mhz.
It does say that the screen is using 50% of battery, and the Mobile data uses 33%, Android System 5%, Android system 3%.
Battery life at 33% left: is at 15h 2m.
I don't have many apps running in the background.
Is this kind of battery usage / life to be expected?
I use the screen on 50-75% brightness..
When the WIFI is turned on, it also seems to partly connect the 3G as well? It shows the mobile connection name ie: 3G RSA MTN, even though it is switched off?

so since i installed this new ROM CM7 I have noticed my battery usage is not so great when i look at the after 2 hours of use cell standby is 32% and phone idle is 24% android system 21% before it was always android system at the top so it just seems excessive use for phone idle and standby im not a expert tho any ideas???
well bro u can this
1. turn off wifi & data
2. use task killer to end tasks wen nt using phne
3. turn off auto synchronization
4. lower cpu freq
cm7 is not official so hv to face such prblms!!
yea i already do all that but oh well ill ust wait for the official release i actually like the ROM
67% ->goto bed->after 9hrs->still at 67% on stock v10f rooted
Im using CM7 too, and I've noticed that MAYBE there is a problem with wifi... Battery consumption is relatively normal, except for when the wifi is on, then it uses around 1% each 4-5 minutes, but with the phone idling all night it will use 2 or 3 %
Make sure you stop maps and music app after you use those
CM7 does have battery problems. You can try putting francisco's tweaks along with his sql patch. Will give you some kind of slight increase in battery performance.
You can use the calibration of the battery.
A few nights ago I killed all the running apps on my atrix and turned off all network services like bluetooth and wifi except for mobile data. 9 hours later (with no use) the battery had dropped seven percent. Then I turned off mobile data as well and did the same thing. 9 hours later the battery had dropped 5 percent. On my iphone 3G I left data on and 9 hours later the battery had dropped 0 percent.
It seems to me that because android has multitasking, things that you don't need stay running in the background and although the battery usage by each is minimal, after long periods of time the battery usage adds up. On phones like the iPhone 3G, there is no multitasking (I didn't use backgrounder) so no applications or services were running and therefore no battery was drained.
My question is if there is a way to turn every application and service off other than those that govern calls and texts so that the idle battery usage is minimal and more comparable to phones like the iPhone 3G?
There was a thread about this in the nexus one forum. Miui if my memory serves... It consisted of running apps right off the sd card via dark tremors and some serious autokiller memory optimizer tweaks.
I heard mixed results of great battery life and corrupt sd cards. Either way there are better ways of achieving good battery life whilst keeping that snappy multitasking of android.

Is miui available on the atrix? It doesn't show up in their list of supported phones?
If anyone else has any other solutions please post them too.
Yea, I don't think you can get miui on the atrix.
BTW, I instead of just disconnecting mobile data I turned on airplane mode and it lost 3 percent battery in 7 hours (cell standby was gone from battery usage and phone idle was at 90% with display at 5%). Extrapolating to 9 hours makes it 3.7% which means that simply searching for a connection contributes to half of the battery usage when idle.
Putting my phone in airplane mode is not a good solution... does anyone have any other ideas?
Since upgrading from 030 to 047 (clean install, FXP kernel) if 3G is enabled, my battery will not last for even eight hours, and my phone is always warm to the touch. Using 2G only gives incredible battery life, (nearly two days with similar usage) and the phone stays cool except during extensive use.
030 did not have the same problem; with 3G, the battery lasted about sixteen or twenty hours, and there were no temperature concerns.
I tried looking for apps that might be causing the problem with no success. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS are almost always disabled (as before). CPUSpy reports that the phone successfully enters deep sleep. The signal strength in my location is, and always has been, excellent. Battery usage is dominated by Phone Idle and Cell Standby.
Does anyone else have similar problems with this particular version, or can anyone suggest any other clues/hints/settings to investigate?
I had the same issue with mine and eventually switched from FXP to MIUI. If someone could figure out the power issues I'd go back but for now I'm sticking with MIUI until I can see how the battery life on it is.
I'm running the latest CM7 nightly, and I've noticed that cell standby is draining the battery. In battery usage, cell standby is anywhere from 50-80%, depending on how long the display has been on. And this is with a clean install (no apps, no google account sync).
The thing is, I'm traveling abroad right now so I don't have cell service but I do have wifi access, so I don't want to just put the phone in airplane mode. With other roms (I've tried stock and unnamed) there doesn't seem to be this issue.
Any ideas? Thanks
I believe it has no real effect on the battery life. It has been discussed many times and you should be able to search for it on the forums.

Is your battery ACTUALLY draining?
Remember, everything in battery stats is relative - if you reduce one drain source, the percentage for another will increase.
Cell Standby is a fairly fixed drain source - the only way to actually reduce it is to move to an area with stronger signal or put the phone into airplane mode. If it's high percentage-wise, that just means your other drain sources are very low.
Thanks for the tips
The battery did seem to drain faster with CM7 (not just based on the percentage of cell standby).
One thing I noticed is that with CM7 the phone signal bar in battery usage was almost all red, but with UnNamed it was mostly yellow. Could this be why the battery seems to drain faster with CM7? Would flashing a different modem help?
I just got my Alpha SM-G850F last week and I went straight to flashing 5.0.2 on it. After a couple wipes and reset to defaults it's now working fine but I'm still not happy with the battery life, especially while the device is idle.
My idle drain is about 3% per hour, which to me it seems a lot coming from a Z3c which usually has around 1% per hour in the same conditions (on WiFi at work or home).
Deep sleep seems to be active most of the time (according to CPU Spy), no rogue apps seem to be active (I even removed the official FB app for this tests) and I don't know what to look for anymore.
Here are the stats:

Some info on my setup:
- no power saving
- brightens on auto set to minimal
- location ON with high accuracy
- Bluetooth ON paired with G Watch R (switching it off at night does not make much difference)
- WiFi ON and connected
- Google Now OFF
- Nova Launcher instead of TouchWiz
- S Voice, S Health and the rest of S Krap disabled
I was wondering what's the average idle drain on WiFi for you guys.
PS: Is it normal that CPU Spy does not report above 1300Mhz (was it not supposed to go up to 1800) ?
First of all, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has a bigger battery, 2600 mAh compared to Alpha's 1860 mAh battery. Second thing G850F has 2 processors, one clocked @ 1.3 GHz, second one clocked @ 1.8 GHz. I recommend turning all these settings off when you can (e.g. WiFi, bluetooth, location)
I've got a question though; does your touch screen work at the top left corner of the screen, like you can try swiping the navigation bar slowly from the top left corner and tell me if it goes back to its place (when im playing games buttons sometimes dont function)..
Best regards,
James
Of course there is a battery difference but still there is a big difference. Assuming the Alpha was half size that would still mean at most 2% drain. That's why I was asking for people to share their idle usage so I can compare. At the moment I'm flashing KK and I will report back after the weekend. I'm not about to dumb it down by turning off all the smart features that I use. I also remember I had the same high drain in the first version of lollipop for the z3c, but they fixed it in the meantime.
Regarding your touch screen issue, I saw your thread but I'm not experiencing it. I have no games to try with but in other apps I do not sense this issue.
Perhaps it's related to CPU usage which I assume it's pretty high during gaming ?
Battery is better in KK, idle drain dropped to less than 1.5% per hour, also memory management is way better and most of my apps are always in ram so they resume instantly, tho the system overall does not feel as snappy as with LP.
I miss the lock screen notifications and smart lock but I'm gonna stick with KK until a new version of LP turns out (hopefully 5.1.1).

I dont understand your statistics, but obviously Android system & kernel drain your buttery and this is not normally
but we have only first build of 502 jet,and I think newer version of 502 will be much better
Actually that's normal when you don't have any apps wreaking havoc in background when the screen is off. So basically what you're left with are the notifications, communication (WiFi, Bluetooth & GSM), location and the rest of the google/samsung stuff that you can't really control. Overall 26h with 1.5h SoT for such a small battery is reasonable to get you through the day.
Here is my idle drain after full charge and leaving the phone untouched through the night.

Power saving is off and I`m on Ozcan ROM. With my pattern of usage battery lasts for 2/2,5 day with around 2,5h SOT (no power saving and brightnes on auto 5).

Looks good. My battery went down about 14% over night from fully charged (as much as 20% on other 5.0.2 roms). Do you have exchange accounts? I've found them a bit of a drain in the past. I'll try again tonight and post some stats.
I have facebook, messenger, snapchat and 4 gmail accounts that have push notifications. I also use greenify with experimental functions enabled - it indeed saves some battery power.
