Thanks! Had to manually load the APK on my Nexus 7 because it's blocked on the play store. Works perfectly.

Only to those devices? I don't see Xperia S included, and I just updated it with Play Store.
"I got my values. So you can keep yours, OK?"

The text on Google Play says this :
Common devices that are NOT SUPPORTED: Huawei Sonic, HTC Aria, Dream, Hero and Legend, LG Optimus One (or Optimus 3G, C, M, S, T, U or V), LG Phonenix and Thrive, Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Europa, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Gio, Galaxy Mini, Galaxy Prevail´and Galaxy Y, Sony-Ericsson Xperia and Xperia Mini.
So maybe that's the reason?

What no skyGo

It looks like British TV network Sky is starting to catch up with the the pace of Android OS upgrades. Today it's launched a new version of its Sky Go mobile TV app, introducing support for 14 new devices along with Android versions 4.1-4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Today's update brings Sky Go to a wider audience, after an update over the summer first opened it up to ICS phones.
From our own device history, we can confirm that Sky Go supports the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Galaxy S3 LTE, Galaxy Note 2, Sony Xperia T, LG Optimus 4X HD and Jelly Bean'd Galaxy Nexus, amongst others. Notable exceptions include the HTC One X+ and One S, which unfortunately remain unsupported.
Other changes in the new version of Sky Go for Android include improved navigation and various other UI changes.
so the Nexus 4 and 7 get it but no nexus 10 ?
surely this is some kind of cruel wind up?
I know this is a big joke, im new to the android platform and just purchased the Nexus 10 and Sky Go is the one thing lacking from it right now. So just to add salt to the wounds they update the app but dont make it compatible with Nexus 10. My take onit is just that there lazy!!
I think the Nexus 7 is the first Android tablet supported by Skygo so that is a milestone and the Nexus 10 is sure to follow.
Has anyone tried simply installing the apk?

hm?
My best guess is that you'll see developers work on it, but I would be really surprised if Motorola releases an official update. Motorola promised Jelly Bean for that line of phones, and it delivered on that promise. From what I've seen, one goal of Kit Kat is to bring enhanced Google apps to phones with less capacity or ones with intrusive overlays. Google may try to get 4.4 out to older phones, or they may simply make the new integrated apps available for download from the Play Store.
As the RAZR is evidence of, taking a phone built for Gingerbread and modding it to work with Jelly Bean came with a lot of challenges and is still not quite up to the performance of the newer models.

Based on this it does seem unlikely that the razr will get any more official updates....which is too bad because my RAZR maxx runs great still and I really have no reason to update... besides maybe LTE....

Phone camera query

Hi there.
I am planning on buying a new Android phone in place of my old ageing Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE. I'm choosing between the Nexus 5, HTC One (M7) and the Galaxy S4. A "third" option is the G2/G2 mini. One thing that is common to these phones are they all h have Snapdragon processors.
I want to ask about the cameras of these phones as regards the current, latest & most recent software update to them:
1. Which phone between the four you think boots up the quickest?
2. I wont be asking which ones takes the better photos of them all but rather...Are there any good alternative 1st-party or 3rd-party camera app I can install for my new phone?
Thank you.

My Gear S paired with

There seems to be little consistency on to which phone will actualy work with Samsung Gear Manager paired with the Gear S.
Samsung own words on the matter seems to be "Samsung phone with Android 4.3 or later", but let's be honest, one could ask Samsung the same question twise, and get three answers back. I should think the voice of this community would give a better indication on what works and not.
Could someone with permissions greate a sticky thread for this, so we could fill in phone model, maker, firmware, watch firmware and Samsung Gear Manager version. Along with a description on that experience.
Sprint Galaxy S5 (stock root) - 4.4.2
Gear S (Sprint variant) - R750PVPU1ANJ7
Gear Manager - 2.2.14102499
GS is running as I had hoped it would. For my needs/wants, its a great experience. Only problem I have is with email. Im unable to compose email. But I can reply. I just need 4.4.4 on my S5 and it will work. But this fix is not high on my priority at all.

If you have a Samsung device (phone or tablet) that is 4.3 and above and not compatible with your Gear S, chime in on their FB support page. Maybe Samsung is not even aware of these issues.
phone model: Note II
firmware: 4.4.2
watch firmware: r750tuvu1anj7 (t-mo version)
Samsung Gear Manager version: 2.2.14110499
Seems to be fully compatible.
Hmmm
All Galaxy phones running "official" 4.3+" are guaranteed to work, it's just that the available features will depend on your connected phone's model, and various versions of the required software on your phone as well.
To compile a full list of who has what phone and what does and doesn't work would be a massive undertaking!
I agree, they shouldn't limit some features to some Galaxy phones and their respective Android versions. But it's stated clearly in the manual and in the promo materials.
Note II (VZW): SCH-i605
Android Firmware: 4.4.2 (R3ds ROM)
Gear S: AT&T version
Gear Manager: 2.2.141102499
Samsung/Galaxy Apps store (this matters too): 14093005.02.008.1

Well, yesterday I contacted Samsung support spesificly on the Young 2(SM-G130H) - 3.5", Android 4.4.2, BT, WLAN, GPS, Cheap:
"Shure. No problem. Android 4.3 or newer"
So I went to the store today and tried apps.samsung.com/gear (URL from the frontpage of Gear S the quickguide) from the Young 2:
"this devices does not support Gear. "
Well, my contribution is that the Young 2 doesn't work
disclaimer: yes, I know the Young 2 is garbage, but I only wanted it for firmware update, syncronise contacts, transfere apps and music. Nothing fancy.

Cannot always go by what a Samsung Rep may say. Same goes for many carrier reps.
For optimum performance/connectivity, you'll need newer and much advanced Samsung Phone. Using older/cheaper devices will more thank likely not work (or be very limited in use).
