I downloaded the All in One tool and it is supposed to s-off and root my phone. It is supposed to be an easy tool to use. I have downloaded the Thunderbolttool.exe and ran it but it does nothing. I have tried this on two different PC's. Is there some other driver or java client that I am supposed to download with this? The directions on the website just say download Thunderbolttool.exe, run it and click on the .bat file it creates. None of this happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am sure I am just skipping a step.

Ok guys for the note, how do I find the latest odin version to use to root? And where did you guys find the best place for the drivers?
I goggled it.

To my knowledge this is the current way to root with provided tools and drivers.

I missed those links in that thread as I'm going to try the other root method, thanks.
I am not a noon by any means but I feel like one right now.
I have unlocked my note 2 twice already but this time, I am stumped.
I have reverted back to stock via Odin3, I am able to flash pit and bootloader baseline, but casual still calls me a noob.
Am I following step by step on Adams post.... No luck this time.
Any help would be great. Also, casual says my phone is rooted and I have su but titanium backup says that I am not rooted?
Thanks in advanced!
I just wanted to let you guys know, I have searched and troubleshooting for the past few days. I have tried over 30 times. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I have never had this issue. I feel like an @$$ for posting this but it's a last resort.

Did you accept the OTA from 1/18/13?

No. I think my problem is that I can't find the revision 3 rom. When I click the link I get options to download Odin, bootloader baseline, the suck it Verizon package and another that I can't remember right now . I tried on the stock rom as well as stock rooted. No luck.

Solved! 63rd time was the charm. The only thing that I did different was downloaded the files directly to my pc instead of on my phone then usb transfer.

Since ODIN is failing to push the recovery image I need an alternate way to restore my phone.
Dis you check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107125 maybe it works

Ok so I plan on rooting my phone tomorrow and I have a few quick questions.
1. I downloaded all the files needed and im wondering do I need to unzip them, and by that I mean odin and motochopper.
2. Should I run a md5 checker on the kernels I downloaded?
3. This pertains to the md5. My kernel files say .tar.tar not .tar.md5 how do I fix this?? This got me when I tried to root my s3 and bricked it. Ive got a few pics to show.
Thanks.

I downloaded them from this site. From the root guide.

You have to flash a kernel to root bc the shipped kernel is not root able

I hear sometimes the all in one may lock up. I'll just play it safe and do it manually. Follow this guide and redownload the files if unsure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798 There is a video tutorial if you need help with it as well.
All in one tool
Tool worked perfect for, but yeah to each their own.
I think the tool is stickied in the root forum.

I'm seeing the file as .tar.md5. Not sure why your getting it as .tar.tar
I am trying to root my Fascinate sch-1500 but when I download the cwm 4.0 it shows up as a .bin file and Odin is looking for a .tar file. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this? Thanks.
Are you using Droidstyle's guide to find the links?

I think I have a copy of it hosted somewhere. It may be in a thread under the general forum. There's a guide on how to install Gummy ICS and I think I hosted my own copy of CWM 4 there. If not, look for some other guides under the General forum

Thanks. I will look around but it just seems odd that a .tar would download as a .bin. I am new at this so I may just need to stay with what I have because I don't want to screw up my phone.
Edit: No luck finding a solution to my problem. No matter what I do the cwm file downloads in the .rar format and when I extract it goes to recovery.bin. I can't figure it out so at this point I am stuck and no one else seems to have ever had this problem. I keep thinking I am doing something wrong but I download files all of the time and I cannot imagine what I am doing to mess this up.
