problems:
1. trackballwake
I execute this command through adb shell/terminal, reboot, didn't work, finally I found that curcial-oj.idc became empty. Then I used root explorer to edit this file but always empty. I quit, and reflash rom with fix permission. Set the value by text edit.
2. Music&Gallery can not recognise files
Apollo and Google Music Player can not recognise the media files in sdcard, gallery either. Sdcard was partitioned by CWK 5, ext 2G,swap 0mb or 32mb(try several times). I even use fix permission. But these didn't work. BTW, CM10 can recognise the correct size in "setting -> storage" but apollo shows empty list.
root explorer -> into music dir-> open a .mp3 file
-- use apollo -> show error
-- use google music player-> play it normal.but this player cannot scan files in sdcard either.
Then I found that. If I transfer files by USB storage mass. The .mp3 files cannot be fount. So I try assistant programs like 'wandoujia' (-- wandoujia.com can download this ,which can transfer files through ftp protocal) ,and the media files show up.
list:
1) format sdcard or partition. didn't work.
2) fix permission. didn't work
3) double wipe and reflash the rom. didn't work
4) use other assistant program. work but transfer very slow
3.setting -> storage -> [menu -> usb connections] : other types can crash the setting.
spent much time in p2. other feathers had no time to try.

1. Make sure you are on the 1.02 bootloader (included in the Froyo RUU) & S-OFF.
2. Try deleting the Android/data/com.cooliris.media folder. If you have too many mp3s in one folder, that can cause it too
--------
1. It's already 1.02 and S-OFF. I try again this noon and trackballwake work. Maybe it's because the permission.
2. There's no such folder. But perhaps can workaround in this way: Flash CM9, open Apollo and Galery3D, then flash CM10 without double wipe after they reload the resources.
I had restore the files through wandoujia and have no time to try this way. Someone who has this problem could do sth like that. And I hope WinSuk can find out the reason. It seems so many people who use Android 4.1 have this problem.

i'm not sure what is causing the issue, but i can say that i did this:
- full wipe of caches, /system/, /data/, /sd-ext/, etc. (but not normal SD partition)
- install winsuk CM10 alpha 4 from clockworkmod
- boot into CM10, reboot into recovery
- install winsuk's small gapps
- boot into CM10
and everything seemed to work great. apollo reads my MP3s fine (i have a fair amount, maybe 800+ in one folder?), etc. they are in /sdcard/media/Music/ i believe.
and since i can't post on the dev forums just yet, just wanted to say a big thank you to winsuk and munjeni!

I've tried this way. It didn't work -.-
And I found something just now. The folder /storage should be set permission 666 or sth to allow apps for full accessing. Now I do set 666 and clear Apollo&Google Music Player datas and restart both apps. Then they found out the MP3s~~~
BTW. There's another problem. I'm chinese, and it cannot use chinese names' pinyin spelling to locate the contacts in dial pannel. Then I found a Contacts.apk and ext.jar to replace the files under /system/app/ & /system/framework/ , finally resolve that.

I can't seem to locate the directory folder that the new firefox app downloads to. anyone?
Nevermind, it goes right to the sdcard, no folder. I didn't see the files because the downloads failed...
can't seem to get the download folder to change.
I went into:
about:config
created a new string: browser.download.dir
set the value to: /mnt/extSdCard/Downloads/
Restarted Firefox
But still the downloads go into the sdcard/downloads
I've also tried:
/extSdCard/Downloads/
/sdcard/
/extSdCard/
/mnt/sdcard
none of these have any effect.
Any ideas?

Im also looking for changing my dl directory. It have work once for me when modifying the "browser.download.folderList" after creating the browser.download.dir string. But after reboot of firefox the next dl will go back again to the sdcard.
Wonder if anyone else could tell how to do it
creating a new string is a good step for changing your dl directory. But you should also add this step to make it work.
Modify the value of "browser.download.folderList" from 1 to 2
Thats it!!

I hate managing folders so now I use directory bind which allows me to bind two folders together. Basically you create another downloads folder on your external sd card and use directory bind to "bind" them. Checkbox to transfer contents and your downloads (source) folder will be dumped into the empty folder you've created automatically (destination must be empty when checking the box). When altering files in either downloads folder, the changes appear in both. When you look at storage, the original source folder is not calculated into your used internal storage amount even though every other app sees files in there (since that would defeat the purpose). I use it for my downloads, camera and several apps and game folders not designed to be pushed to SD. Instead of continuously resetting app download destinations, I sit back and relax knowing every app downloads to the proper place (minus the rogues who think they deserve their own folder lol). When flashing a new ROM, simply unbind everything first and disable autostart, backup with titanium backup, after restore, you should be good (depending on your new version of android in which case you may need to adjust some settings). If setting up from scratch again, assuming your working folder structure is still in tact, you can bind again without ticking the box (since the files are in their proper place and a transfer is no longer necessary).
You can get it here, it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, but I've tested it from Android 4.0 through 4.2.2 and it's perfect (settings adjustments will likely be required): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
Hi everyone, was a solution found to that still issue? I tried to move the default download folder to the ext SD card with settings into about:config, I changed as well the "browser.download.folderList" value to 2 and add a "browser.download.defaultFolder" string, but everything failed, please does someone know what to do? Or is there another setting menu or mod/Exposed module to achieve this..?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi, thanks for your help, but it still don't work for me. What I don't understand is that the path can be whether
/storage/sdcard1/Download
or
/ext_card/Download
Maybe you know why? I'm running CM11 nightlies (4.4.4) on Xperia Z2

With a r/w sd? Use a root explorer to find the path to the r/w sd
I'm very busy and sorry not to say anything for long but thank you much for your answer and help.
My path is correctly pointing the SD, I checked carefully the settings and got no success. Then suddenly Firefox began to write on ext sd, but still this is only sometimes! I tried to see if the files type or size had something to do with that behavior but it seems to be just erratic..
It actually seems that it's the "Flash Video Downloader" module who sends files into the internal storage regardless of the browser settings..
HULU FLASH 10.3 PERMANENT FIX
First off thanks to redvexx over at the Epic XDA 4G Forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153196 from whose flashable zip file I extracted the files and from his explanation of what his zip update does figured out how we can accomplish the fix manually. He also gives credit to imneveralOne for the foundation of his own work. Many thanks to them both!!
The fix redvexx has posted at the above link is meant to be flashed, which I tried doing using our System Recovery and Android recovery without success. After much trial and error this is what I did on my phone to get Hulu to work using Dolphin HD or Boat Mini browser; I am not responsible for what happens on your phone. And in all fairness and full disclosure I AM A SERIOUS NOOB here and this is my 1st “I did this so can you post”… if anyone can create a “cleaner” way to do this for god’s sake go for it…lol
You must have BusyBox installed (I recommend ver 1.18.2 or lower because at some point you’re gonna try one of zeppelinrox’s great scripts and that’s what he recommends and what I’ve got installed and it works)
** When renaming or creating files and folders leave off the “_” marks**
- Install Adobe Flash 10.3 from the market and make sure auto update is DISABLED
- In your Browser (I think Dolphin HD works best) you must change the UA setting to Desktop and I recommend setting “enable plug-ins” to “always on” but not sure if that is strictly required
- Create the folder “flash” in /data (as in /data/flash)
- Download the attached “DX2_GB_Hulu_Flash10.3_fix.zip” file to your phone and extract the 5 files it contains
- Copy or Move “s98fixflash.sh.txt” to /mnt/sdcard, then rename “s98fixflash.sh” (remove the .txt)
- Copy or Move “libflashplayer.so” “libstagefright_froyo.so” “libstagefright_honeycomb.so” and “libysshared.so” to the /data/flash folder you should have already created
- Using Script Manager open “s98fixflash.sh”, check “Run as Root” and “Run at Boot” then click save.
- Reboot and and you should be able to enjoy Hulu in your browser without having to pay for a VIP subscription (you will not be able to watch VIP content only the free content). Most people seem to have smoother video using a setting of 288 in Hulu; mine seems to work fine set at 360.
What does the fix do? Well, from what I understand and have read Flash 10.3 recopies the files located in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib during each boot-up; wiping out any fix that may have been in place. The “s98fixflash.sh” script copies the “fixed” files saved in the flash folder back to the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib (after Flash 10.3 does it's copy during boot-up) during each boot-up thus putting the fix back on every boot-up. (or I could be totally wrong and just got lucky; see NOOB admission above...)
Of course to undo this (say if it gets in the way of any future GB update) all you need do is delete or change the name of “s98fixflash”; script doesn’t run, files aren’t replaced, it’s like it never happened because, well, it didn’t…lol
In closing i hope I've done well with my 1st post and some of you folks find it useful. But if I've made a mess of it my apologies in advance.
Ok (after rooting) here is how I installed GApps (Market, Google Framework, etc) on the Nook Tablet, as well as the steps I took to stabilize everything...
1. Downloaded GApps package from goo-inside.me and extracted files.
2. Deleted the setupwizard.apk file from the set of extracted files (in the system\app folder).
3. Copied "system" folder from extracted files to tablet via USB.
4. Used Root Explorer to remount /system and copy files into their designated locations, and also set permissions (644) on all copied apk's in /system/app folder.
5. Rebooted.
6. Ran the market, signed in with my Google account, and downloaded/installed Superuser. Ran the binary update within the app.
7. Install any additional apps from Android Market.
8. Profit.
Known issues...
1. If setupwizard.apk ends up on your tablet you will not be happy.
2. A factory reset is recommended after installing GApps (though probably not necessary).
3. Not all apps show in the Market. Perhaps a build.prop tweak will fix this???
Enjoy!!!
this is a second good news after rooting!
anlong:
Use either wireless adb found here: https://market.android.com/details?id=siir.es.adbWireless
or use debugging toggle found here: http://code.google.com/p/secure-set.../detail?name=ADBWidget-0.2-alpha.apk&can=2&q=
^ instructions for that:
Download ADBWidget.apk
Copy ADBWidget.apk to /system/app (you can use root explorer or something.)
Add ADBWidget to your home screen
Anlog,
I was able to get SuperUser installed following the directions on the other discussion! Thanks for much for all your hard work.
Working on getting Google Apps installed right now.
Update: Well I have SuperUser on my Nook, but whenever I try to copy anything to \system\app it tells me I don't have permissions. Looks like I can't get root to actually run.
run chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
which version of Gapps do I need Cyanogen 6 MDPI?
Make sure root is fully working before you try to install GApps. Use the latest ones for CM7 (I think its from August). You need to remount /system as RW before copying the files and setting permissions. Root Explorer lets you do all of that.
All of this could be done with an ADB script as well, but I won't have time to write one today. Anyone?

Do not install chainfire! I just tried it and it boot-looped, had to force factory restore.
Finally figured out what was wrong initially, root does not seem to work unless you manually enter commands. Attempted market setup, for some reason it is still force closing every time. Any chance someone who got it working could upload exact files they used.

What gapps did you use?
I used the cyanogen 7 universal gapps.
Well, I may have royally screwed up. I followed this tutorial, and I copied over the entire Apps folder from the gapps download. Now I get numerous force closes, and I have no keyboard! Any suggestion?

I ran into issues copying the whole folder over. I am currently running the google market though.
do everything one step at a time, install the googleframework first (from the directions on the kindle page), then do the market. I ran into the first time through the market would not actually connect so I rebooted the NT.
*note*
each time you reboot your NT you need to go in and what appears is toggle the usb debugging off then on, same with the "auto mount", and I did the unknown sources as well (not sure if this is necessary). It appears a reboot resets the flags and our menu isn't actually writing the settings so you have to toggle it.
Push comes to shove, start over with fresh reboot. It took me a few times (as it probably did others as well).
ok, so can someone who is patient tell me where I need to copy the system folder? help the feeble minded, please.....

that part is clearly stated but using root explorer and getting it to mount doesnt seem to work properly on my device. I have root and superuser. titanium backup works fine. for some reason root explorer on es explorer says it fails every time
-1 Go download latest Gapps and extract the contents to your HD. There will be two folders, one of which is "system."
-2 In the system folder there will be more folders, one of which is "app." Inside of app are all the system APKs.
-3 Detele SetupWizard.apk
-4 Now copy the app folder to the root of your NT SD card via USB.
-5 Next step you need to use ADB or Root Explorer...I used Root Explorer.
-6 Open root explorer, then go to sdcard and you should see the APP folder you copied.
-7 Once there, hit menu -> multi select > then put a check mark to what you want copied then hit the copy button.
-6 now hit back untill you're back in the root
-8 Then navigate to system, and at the top you should see button "Mount RW" hit that button.
-9 Then go into the App folder, and hit paste.
-10 All the selected APKs are now in the system/app folder.
-11 Now you need to give each of the copied apps permission by long-clicking on it till a menu comes up, hit permissions, then check all the check boxes next to "Owner"
-12 After you did that to all the apps hit the "mount RO" button on top of the screen
-13 Reboot the NT.
That should do it...hopefully I havent missed anything.
Hi everyone here
First I want to say that i have done many searches in the forum before creating this thread, and it is not very obvious to go through hundreds of pages and posts so here I asl the question (once more ?)
I have Flashed vanilla Rootbox 3.2 (JB) with Dorimanx Kernel V7.22-ICS-JB
My problem is that everytime that I connect the usb cable to my phone, the ringtone reverts back to "Cobalt' which is unherable
The origin of the problem would be obvious if my ringtones were placed in the internal ou external sd card, as these media are disconnected everytime usb storage is used, but in fact, I managed to put them in root/system/media (with some SGS III addon because copying manually to this location makes ringtons invisible !) and fixing permissions (not sur that I have done it properly)
Anyway, have anyone gone through this issue ?
Any help is welcome

Thank you for the advice, my phone is now rebooting, I will give feedback very soon
Meanwhile, were you able to add some more "Nicer" ringtones to the system partition, because the AOKP default ringtones are not "very faboulous" (Tried slim bean 2.7 before...) and putting them in SD cards is not a good solution as i use USB connection very often
EDIT:
Reflashing the ROM and Kernel solved the issue, but still not able to add more ringtones, any idea ?

for adding the ringtones, the simple steps u can follow is
1) rename the file to have a .ogg extension
2) push the same manually to the desired place(system>media>audio>ringtones) using root explorer / browser then set permission rw-r--r-- then reboot and see selecting the same file as ringtone

Instructions
How to install
1. You will need root, busybox & artas182x locked bootloader CWM (2nd init recovery).
First root with one of these methods Cydia, JCase, Vroot, or Lelus
Second install busybox
Last, install L9 Recovery Installer (BUY THIS GUY A BEER  )
2. Make a backup of your current system & data, detailed instructions by @cmahendra, see 2nd & 3rd post. (Note: Make backups on External Sdcard)
3. Download, locate and install my rom like any other flash-able zip. Note: MEGA has an app in the market ;D
The most important thing to remember is don't select reboot recovery (in advance options). Your phone will (may) perform a factory reset and wipe your Internal Sd & data partition!!! You have been Warned!!!
Old Method
3. Download my Cwm backup and extract (un-zip) the "backup" folder to your external SD (micro SD) "clockworkmod" folder or Internal SD (not recommended). Note: If you don't have a "clockworkmod" folder in your external Sd, make one. You should have one if you made a cwm backup.
The folders need to be like this /clockworkmod/backup/KUMA82-2013-10-03/
4.a. Restore my CWM Backup and reboot.
(Note: The first boot will take a long time, about 4mins)
Or
b. Restore my CWM Backup and select "advance restore from external sdcard" and restore you data partition.
(Note: only perform this option if your backup is from a jellybean rom. In addition, wipe dalvik cache & cache before booting up your system.)The most important thing to remember is don't select reboot recovery (in advance options). Your phone will (may) perform a factory reset and wipe your Internal Sd & data partition!!! You have been Warned!!!

Questions & Knowledge
What does this swap (Internal/External) script do?
The script makes your fake Internal SD card become your External SD card and vice versa.
I call it a fake Internal SD because the more stuff you place in that folder (/data/media) the less space you have for apps. Most phones have a real Internal SD, and it's not a part of the data partition.
Knowledge
It's like this, your phone's hard drive is cut up into different sections and each have a different size. The two main partitions (storage sections) are system and data.
Your data partition is about 1.8g in size and is located at "/data/". This place is where all your settings, user apps (/data/app), and other stuff are stored. When you do a factory reset, all of this stuff gets erased.
Inside the data, is a folder named "media". Media is your Internal SD card. The Media folder contains a very important folder name "Android" (/data/media/Android), this folder contains app setting (the stuff you can access without root) & is the storage place for large games.
Now you can't do much about the small storage, the best thing to do is not save anything on it (data/media), like music, files & stuff.
So with the swap script active, we are making the "micro SD" become the new storage place for the Android folder.
Note: the script does not actually transfer everything you currently have saved in /data/media. You have to move that manually. The script/system will make a new Android folder on your "micro SD".
In addtion, change camera and video recorder storage location to internal memory.
It would be real nice if we could move /data all to the micro SD, but we can't because of a lot of technical reasons.
I hope you have a better understanding about what this swap script is doing, and how the system operates.
Why do all my pictures/videos I take come out corrupt?
Your pictures/videos are not corrupt, they just don't have the correct permissions. Once you reboot you will find your pictures/videos inside /storage/external_SD (I would take them out of there).
Change the Storage settings for the camera & video to "Internal memory"
How do I remove the swap script?
I admit the swap script isn't perfect, and I don't blame you for wanting to remove it.
The easiest method (IMO) is to use a root browser and remove 69swap from the init.d folder.
If you don't understand what I just said , perform the following in a terminal.
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
rm /etc/init.d/69swap
and reboot.

how do i move the apps to the sd card? i have been trying but its not working.
Hey man, I was having a similar idea to this. Would I be able to make my own ROM backup with my own base/mods?

I need more details to work with. What app are you trying to move? Does it give you an error, or you can't select the "move 2 sdcard" tab?
Remember, not all downloaded apps can be moved.

Why wouldn't you
Just make sure it's boot-able after a factory reset and everything is working properly.

Alright thanks! I just wanted to make sure. I've always had the idea of a "Galactic ROM" feel for one of these. I think I'll make it tonight How do I upload it? Just package in a compressed format and upload, then tell them to use restore function?
OH! And do I need to delete my contacts/messages/etc. first? Because it'd be highly embarrassing to post my girlfriend and I's messages for people to download. XD

okay, now that you've read that.
You need to move everything inside your "SD card" into your "Internal SD". The easiest way to do this AND SAFTEST:
1. Make 2 new folders on you Windows Desktop. probably be best to name them internal & external
2. Reboot your phone (but don't have it connect to your computer yet)
3. Connect your phone (after it's been fully booted and operational for 30 seconds) in MTP mode
4. Open the Internal storage (partition size should be 29.7gb), and copy everything into one of the new folders.
5. Then do the same for your SD card (the sd card should say it's 1.8gb in size) and copy everything into the other new folder, on your Desktop.
5. Hold on to both folders until you know all of your picture and stuff are good.
6. Open up the new folder that you saved "external" and copy the Android folder into the other folder "internal" (or whichever Android folder is the biggest, should be the "external" folder).
7. Open up the "SD card" (1.8gb partition on your phone) and delete everything from that folder.
8. Open the "internal" folder and copy everything into the "Internal storage".
9. Check your other stuff (folders on desktop) and see what else you want to put into the "Internal storage".
10. Reboot into cwm and wipe "cache partiton" & "dalvik cache" (located in advance tab).
11. Reboot
If you still have storage problems it's because you have too many apps. If you really need the extra space you will need to partition your "micro sd" and setup Link2sd, but I don't recommend it. You might run into problem in the long run and some apps don't work when moved.

I made some changes to my second post when I replied to you but anyway just set camera and video to save to internal storage. Your pics are not lost. They just don't have the correct permission. If you reboot, you will find them /storage/external_SD (data/media) take them out of there and place them /sdcard/ (storage/sdcard0). Remember don't save anything in data/media (when you using my swap script). I only have one issue at boot with the swap script. The problem is with SwiftKey, I have to load the language pack at every reboot, other than that all is good (for me at least, lol).

Oh and if you have duplicate issues go into app setting and clear data for that app. It's a lot to know but it's worth it IMO for the price of the phone. Lol, as you can see I've done a lot of studying with this phone.
Dang I just remembered something else, you may find two pics in external & internal with the same name but one of them will be a fake (no data) That shouldn't happen with the changes I made to the script. It mostly deals with the swap script displaying the same size. I don't have those type of issues any more.
It might be best to backup all your user apps with titanium backup (make sure it's saving to your micro SD) and then perform a hard reset, starting off fresh. Afterwards just restore your apps.

Sorry bud do you still need help with this. A couple of possible problems are
1. Corrupt images
2. You placed a file inside the cwm backup folder, that will cause a md5 mismatch.
3. The folder isn't placed proper. Must be /clockworkmod/backup/kuma82/(my images & stuff only)
Okay you will need "hash droid" app & "rom toolbox lite" or jota (I will use toolbox lite for this example.
1. Open rom toolbox lite and use the root browser, go to the location of my cwm backup, like so
Hold down on nandroid.md5 file then select to open as text. Note don't change anything thing in that file.
Repeat the process for each file.

So you went inside the camera app pressed settings - Storage - Internal memory? Are you using the LG camera app?
Type the following in terminal emulator app
Code:
su
chmod - R 777 /data/media
That command will give the pictures in DCIM folder the correct permissions. If you already moved them into your micro SD (Internal Storage), type
Code:
su
chmod - R 777 /sdcard
Note r must be cap R
I'm still trying to solve why it does that with the camera app.
The best thing to do is don't save.... , you get the picture right, lol.
Sorry but I'm not the type of person to just give something and be like here just press this and that's it. I want people to learn and understand what they are doing. This is a developer's site , don't get me wrong though, by all means ask questions
It helps keep me sharp
