Xperia Launcher with 4 corners on CM9 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hey,
Is it possible to install that Launcher on CyanogenMod rom or is the Xperia framework mandatory ?
I tried several posts, including serajr's great work but it doesn't appear as a Launcher option in CM9. It's installed right but it doesn't show up, even after cleaning the apps data.
Is this achievable or should I just quit ?
Thanks !

Take a custom ROM zip, under /system/app/ find "home.apk" and ADB push it to your phone to /system/app/
Make sure it has right permissions. Restart phone.
When it boots up, press middle(home) key. If it works, it should ask you what launcher you wanna use.
If it doesn't work, well.... you tried

1. copy com.sonyericsson.facebook.proxy_1.xml on /system/etc/permissions/ and change permissions to rw-r--r--
2. copy com.sonyericsson.facebook.proxy_1_impl.jar on /system/framework/ and change permissions to rw-r--r--
3. reboot
4.(optional) from recovery flash v3_ICS_Xperia_Mini_Corners_Home_Update.zip from here
5. done
If you don't have these files:
com.sonyericsson.facebook.proxy_1
com.sonyericsson.facebook.proxy_1_impl

Thanks. I already tried flashing those files and they were installed properly. I guess I should try to push them indeed...

So did you succeed in doing it? The reason I am asking is that I have been struggling for several days, but still cannot get the "4 corners" ("Corner docks") home screen.

[Q] Please make a apk for installing black (or any other color but blue) theme

Sorry guys, but this Linux stuff really is difficult and scary (don't want to F**** up my phone) for a lot of people. It would be GREAT to have a apk or something like that to install for example the black theme. Is that at all possible?????????
Totally agree with you because I messed my phone up by trying to install the black theme... had to reflash it :/ but tbh I havent found a single helpful person who has told me how to do something properly... so good luck finding someone who will make this...
p.s. I don't think its possible atm afaik.
You can install the blach theme easy if u use RootExplorer.
1. copy the Theme framework-res to your sd-card
2. open RootExplorer go to /system and mount to r/w
3. go to /sd-card , long press on framework-res and move to /system
4. long press on framework-res and set permission to 644 (like the picture)
5. move framework-res to /framework and overwrite.
6. close RootExplorer and reboot.
EDIT: This manual is only for framework-res and other system apps like Phone.apk etc.
You should not use this for example for the clockwidget from black HTC-theme.
Don't try the above way, thats how I bricked my Mini!

@Manny
I disagree with you. This is the simplest and most easiest way to install firmware and I have done it quite a few times. The secret lies in setting the permission. Set the permission as advised, save permission and rechek once more that permission is not changed back to orignal.
But, its not a safe way because if the permissions are set back to normal even after you've double checked and you overwrite the framework you have a brick... he is asking for a safe way (there are chances of bricking your phone). say for example if I replace the framework and I end up with a brick is there any way of fixing it without having to re-flash? if there is then I will call this a safe way

Help! I just try to modify my framework-res and my phone has some troubles! I can't run some apps, even the preferences.
I have the original file saved but I can't run Root Explorer to replace it. What can I do?
PS: OK, I use PC Companion to reinstall the system, it's back!
Very Bad
Come on people this is xda ... you have just lost the fun in using ADB ... The whole fun lies in the procedure in changing the theme. And BTW , why do you use PC companion in reflashing the device?? The OP has posted a great way to get your device running again using rootshell ...
The fun part of linux is the terminal and you're now killing it!!!
Anyways , this is just my opinion!

I tried this way and now my phone is rebooting a lot, it shows the splash an then resterts again, I cant turn off to fix it,
Is thera any way to replace the framework res from my pc? I have original framework back up,
I tried to reflash but SEUS and PC Companion not work for me :/

try to reed some topics in the xda forums and search for adb and you will learn how to do it and you can make your x10 black within 1 day(a few hours..)

[Q] Install phone.apk

Please sorry for my English. Help ... I want to install but copy phone.apk system / app says that the application was installed and is not exiting the application factory.
I can do ... I also want to change the original lock screen, but I do not know which file I should change ...
I have original 2.1 eclair
thanks.
try this:
Install root explorer (I´m sure, you can find it here by using the search-button), then go to the folderwhere your new phone.apk is, and copy it. then go to system/app, mount it as "rw" and paste it, and then I recommend you to reboot.

Had already tried, but still keeps showing the original application, and when trying to install from system / app says "the application was not installed"...
Any ideas? with respect to lockscreen, what is the application that performs this function?
phone.apk cannot be "installed". it needs to be "pushed" into /system/app
as for lockscreen, u can either change theme or find lockscreen programs... there are a few in the market.
if u do not know how, i suggest u do a little more finding all the answers are somewhere
After moving an app to system/app, set the permission of the app to rw-r--r-- (Root Explorer)
Sent via X8 Browser
There is already an installed application (system)
Phone.apk application is not installed because there is an application system that must be replaced, but look for it in system / app and I not find that application, if you know the name (I have the stock rom) to tell me to remove it and install the new application (I think it might not be in system / app, but I do not know where else might be).
Thank you.
In the stock rom the phone application is called SemcPhone.apk

Indeed, that is. But it does not let me install the application. says "The application has not been installed", even replacing the message application to install.
And when I call, show an error in the process android.process.acore.
If someone has done this before, please guide me.
R u crazy? Phone.apk cannot be installed/replaced under Android is running! Deleting phone.apk causes force-closes and boot-loop. Only way to change phone.apk is ADB under xrecovery.

funny~ i ALWAYS change phone.apk when android is running works fine so far. hehe. of course i use ADB tho
I´ve modified the reframe.sh by propc for semcphone.apk....just download it and extract it to the root of your sdcard (with your computer or your X8 by using a file manager)
Then install terminal Emulator (if you don´t have it already) and type
Code:
sh mnt/sdcard/SEMCphone.sh
and it should react and show you some text like "replace SEMCphone by propc (modified by codfreak).
This should also work with ADB, but I think Terminal E. is easier
You can also use it for replacing ANYTHING, just open the file on your computer with notepad and rewrite the filenames and directorys.

Yes, I'm crazy ... But thanks to you I remembered that I could change the framework with a script, modify it and it worked SemcPhone.apk to change (replace) the phone restarts, but then as if it had apacerece signal and not making calls.
Please, if someone has changed some StockRom SemcPhone.apk 2.1 per phone.apk tell me how.
Thank you.

think the same idea (I modified de script with office suite in the phone ), but does not work the apk ... I do not know what to do, I have the phone.apk for eclair. and does not work.
Hello, I discovered that the recovery is easier to install, I used a zip signed which contained a framework and add the phone.apk renamed SemcPhone.apk. But the different versions of phone.apk I tried did not work on my stock rom. If you know of any version can be installed, if they have already done so, please comment.

GApps on the Nook Tablet

Ok (after rooting) here is how I installed GApps (Market, Google Framework, etc) on the Nook Tablet, as well as the steps I took to stabilize everything...
1. Downloaded GApps package from goo-inside.me and extracted files.
2. Deleted the setupwizard.apk file from the set of extracted files (in the system\app folder).
3. Copied "system" folder from extracted files to tablet via USB.
4. Used Root Explorer to remount /system and copy files into their designated locations, and also set permissions (644) on all copied apk's in /system/app folder.
5. Rebooted.
6. Ran the market, signed in with my Google account, and downloaded/installed Superuser. Ran the binary update within the app.
7. Install any additional apps from Android Market.
8. Profit.
Known issues...
1. If setupwizard.apk ends up on your tablet you will not be happy.
2. A factory reset is recommended after installing GApps (though probably not necessary).
3. Not all apps show in the Market. Perhaps a build.prop tweak will fix this???
Enjoy!!!
this is a second good news after rooting!
anlong:
Use either wireless adb found here: https://market.android.com/details?id=siir.es.adbWireless
or use debugging toggle found here: http://code.google.com/p/secure-set.../detail?name=ADBWidget-0.2-alpha.apk&can=2&q=
^ instructions for that:
Download ADBWidget.apk
Copy ADBWidget.apk to /system/app (you can use root explorer or something.)
Add ADBWidget to your home screen
Anlog,
I was able to get SuperUser installed following the directions on the other discussion! Thanks for much for all your hard work.
Working on getting Google Apps installed right now.
Update: Well I have SuperUser on my Nook, but whenever I try to copy anything to \system\app it tells me I don't have permissions. Looks like I can't get root to actually run.
run chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
which version of Gapps do I need Cyanogen 6 MDPI?
Make sure root is fully working before you try to install GApps. Use the latest ones for CM7 (I think its from August). You need to remount /system as RW before copying the files and setting permissions. Root Explorer lets you do all of that.
All of this could be done with an ADB script as well, but I won't have time to write one today. Anyone?

Do not install chainfire! I just tried it and it boot-looped, had to force factory restore.
Finally figured out what was wrong initially, root does not seem to work unless you manually enter commands. Attempted market setup, for some reason it is still force closing every time. Any chance someone who got it working could upload exact files they used.

I ran into issues copying the whole folder over. I am currently running the google market though.
do everything one step at a time, install the googleframework first (from the directions on the kindle page), then do the market. I ran into the first time through the market would not actually connect so I rebooted the NT.
*note*
each time you reboot your NT you need to go in and what appears is toggle the usb debugging off then on, same with the "auto mount", and I did the unknown sources as well (not sure if this is necessary). It appears a reboot resets the flags and our menu isn't actually writing the settings so you have to toggle it.
Push comes to shove, start over with fresh reboot. It took me a few times (as it probably did others as well).

that part is clearly stated but using root explorer and getting it to mount doesnt seem to work properly on my device. I have root and superuser. titanium backup works fine. for some reason root explorer on es explorer says it fails every time
-1 Go download latest Gapps and extract the contents to your HD. There will be two folders, one of which is "system."
-2 In the system folder there will be more folders, one of which is "app." Inside of app are all the system APKs.
-3 Detele SetupWizard.apk
-4 Now copy the app folder to the root of your NT SD card via USB.
-5 Next step you need to use ADB or Root Explorer...I used Root Explorer.
-6 Open root explorer, then go to sdcard and you should see the APP folder you copied.
-7 Once there, hit menu -> multi select > then put a check mark to what you want copied then hit the copy button.
-6 now hit back untill you're back in the root
-8 Then navigate to system, and at the top you should see button "Mount RW" hit that button.
-9 Then go into the App folder, and hit paste.
-10 All the selected APKs are now in the system/app folder.
-11 Now you need to give each of the copied apps permission by long-clicking on it till a menu comes up, hit permissions, then check all the check boxes next to "Owner"
-12 After you did that to all the apps hit the "mount RO" button on top of the screen
-13 Reboot the NT.
That should do it...hopefully I havent missed anything.

how can i install the stock samsung sms app ?

I am on chameleon rom 1.1 ( hybrid aosp/samsung rom)
Can you help me ?

You should copy the apk into /system/app, then change permissions into 644 (rw--r--r), change group and owner to 'root', and finally reboot and try.

i already tried it and it didn't work. and i am not sur about the about i trid to install because it s difficult to find the stock sms app.
i changed the permissions but i don t understand what you are saying by " 644 (rw--r--r)"
theoricaly it should work since i use an hybrid app ?
With a file manager, backup your mms.apk in /system/app in whatever folder you want. Then, copy the stock mms.apk into /system/app.
You shouldn't click on the .apk and let the app install as you do with other apk files, because this is a system application.
644 means read/write-read-read.
rw-r--r means u set read and write in the owner row , and set read only in the group row , and set read only too in the others row
Note : u get to permissions window in root explorer afer changing r/o read only to r/w read write from the button at the top
then just long click the item u want to change its permissions
i tried what you have said and it didn't work. Is a flashable zip existed ?
up
The stock mms.apk might not be compatible with the custom ROM you have on your phone...
Why do you say it doesn't work? What happens? You open it and it FCs or something else?
I just followed instructions given by posters above and it didn't worked. ( remove the old Mms.apk by the stock one, and fix the permissions, then reboot ) Maybe i don't have the good app, i don't understand why it didn't work; The chameleon rom support stock camera app of samsung and others apps...

Maybe the pakage cant be praised because of android version differnece , some apks from ics dont work on Jb and vice versa
So if u want a stock sms to work on jb , then download another jb rom that has it and take it from there
For pushing files to system app , it is better to first delete the app u want to replace then do a reboot after that copy the new app to system app and set premissions and set r/w back to r/o

There is no need to rename the launcher.apk. After another launcher is installed you will be given the choice of which launcher you want to set as default, you can change back to stock launcher by clearing the defaults of the custom launcher. Better to not change system files if you dont have to. After you move the new launcher to system/app folder change the permissions to rw-r--r--.

Alright,
1st, device spoofer will cause BOOTLOOPS!!!! so don't buy!
(I learned this the hard way)
so this isn't really a mod but if you boot-looped your device by messing with build.prop than here is a quick fix:
1.Make sure you have adb set up nice for your fire by following the amazon developers @ https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/getting-started.html AND that you have the orignal build.prop file
Make sure you read the entire page verbatim, especially if your a mac user, because all the answers are either on the page or in the links
2.You either will need to have temp root or have already been rooted.
3. Make sure the device is actually reaching adb, check this by waiting until the sparkly kindle fire logo comes up, and then doing adb devices
4. Down to Business: Turn on the fire and wait until you reach sparkly kindle fire logo.
5.Navigate to platform-tools folder and place your original build.prop file there
6.type
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
mv build.prop /system/build.prop
exit
exit
reboot
7. If you already kept a backup of the original build.prop file on the device, than change the mv line to
Code:
mv /system/build.prop.bak /system/build.prop
-->and there ya go, post if you have problems

Download a launcher from the play store
With a file manager move the apk from /data/app/ folder (It will be named differently than you are used to, usually has the company or developers name instead) to /system/app/ folder then reboot.
No need to change permissions as they are the same coming from /data/app/ folder

With a file manager move the apk from /data/app/ folder (It will be named differently than you are used to, usually has the company or developers name instead) to /system/app/ folder then reboot.
No need to change permissions as they are the same coming from /data/app/ folder

Are there any alternates to the soft button bar like a stock jb one or something? Or can we not do that because of the odex? I know it's systemui.apk I tried installing a cm9 systemui.apk on my kf2 and system/app rwrr but on reboot all I got was black screen. I backed it up and restored it with adb so I know what i'm doing... for the most part. Sorry for an y random spaces or periods... swype doesn't like furious tapping on the kf2. Needless to say, I have swype as default keyboard and launcher pro as launcher.
Well, I tried the same wpthing with a similar result. My best guess is that it works off of framework res so...until there are custom ROMs we have to wait. But, I've been toying with an idea: if the favorite button on the saftbar was rewritten to display recent apps, e.g. that it always displays 8 apps from data list x, and data list x is a list constantly updated saying the most recent app. Then the app could be themed minorly to have the window over window PNG and voila: a little bit better stock ROM. My problem is that I'm not a coder of any kind, so its a slow process.

I could try to edit it for you. I don't have a Kindle Fire HD, so you'll have to upload me the framework-res.apk and test it for me. Make sure you backup before you test it though.

Has anyone figured out or tried to replace or disable stock search and get Google search to work. I've tried a few things with no luck. I would also like Google now.
For Google search, it's really tedious.
For it to work you have to rename the stock search to iforgothenameofit.apk.bak
Than you have to grab the Google search app from jelly bean gapps via goo.I'm, and push it to the system/app folder with permissions rw-r--r--
Than you have to push all the framework files, permission files, basically any other non-apk file to the folder of which it belongs.(you can get this from the whole zip file that you got from goo.I'm
MAKE SURE THAT EVERY FILE YOU PUT IN THE SYSTEM DIRECTORY HAD PERMISSION RW-R--R--
*This can actually be done with a root explorer fairly easily
