In short what I'm looking for is instructions to be able to connect my HTC One X to my PC (windows 7 Home Edition) via Bluetooth and be able to use my PC's mic to talk and my PC's speakers to listen to the call.
In other words, I want my PC to act as a car's handsfree system.
It seems possible from the googling I have done.
Many articles tells you to connect your phone via BT and choose "Handsfree" as the service. However, when I connect my HOX the only service I get is a network connection (to tether my internet connection).
Any ideas ppl?
Thanks in advance
Yes, there should be no problem. Actually the only problem u may have is the backfeeds between both mics. The one on the phone and the one on the pc. There is an option in the volume controls that u have to cancel put so that wont happen. The option is what i dont remember, since i haven't messed with it in a long time.

Hi all,
Is it possible to share my PC or Laptop's current internet connection with my Galaxy S 2? What I mean by that is I want to be able to plug in my phone to my laptop via usb, and use the PC's internet instead of using my 3G data.
This is separate to things like making the laptop or pc broadcast its connection via wifi, I'm only talking about sharing the connection via usb. Is it possible? Even if it means flashing a certain ROM?
That is a htc sense only feature afaik

That link is apparently only for Android 2.2, and it was written in 2010.
Is there no other way, no app or anything I can download to make this work? Surely the functionality is there...? Any particular ROM that can do this even?
I too am very interested in this feature. I actually asked the same question before:

But I got rubbished by some stuck up prick...
Hi! I have bought the original micro usb to usb adaptor. I wonder if there is an application to help me conect my usb internet modem to my phone so I can use my internet provider network instead of the sim data connection? Now when I connect my usb modem to the phone I see the led lightening but I think it is needed a application for make it recognised by the phone and with some protocols to use it like an external modem.
Any ideas?

Are Wi-Fi routers really that expensive in Romania?
Nice one. No my friend I have one at my place but I travel a lot and my internet provider package is only 250Mb (can't change it cause is a company phone). I have this modem from my internet provider and I'm using it with my laptop when I don't have a Wi-Fi network available and it will be nice and useful to make it work also with my smartphone.

You should be able to use the laptop as a wireless "hotspot" while the USB modem is plugged into it, and your phone can then access the wireless network that's been created.
This is certainly possible with Windoze 7 and I would be surprised if it wasn't possible with Vista or even XP. A quick Google search of "Windows <insert your version of Windows here> WiFi connection sharing" yields plenty of results.
i use this, and it works most of the time! Cant really find why it doesnt work somethimes when i try. But havent used it that much:

This is an app that sends the internet of the pc to your phone, you do need root though!
I just keep it on my sdcard, so i can use it on every pc

This is defo your best bet, as I would bet the USB modem would need more power than the phone can give, so you would need to use a powered hub or a splitter, you would also need drivers (kernel modules) for the data modem built into the kernel, if there even are linux drivers for it, and then all the userspace modem tools which would need porting to android, and in the end you would still more than likely need an external power supply for the modem.
tl;dr Not likely to happen at the current time due to technical hurdles.
Has anyone managed to successfully connect to a mobile phone using bluetooth?. I've tried different phones and always get the "paired but not connected " message.
I was already in my bed but stand up to try it.
With my iPhone 4S iOS 5.1 it doesn't work over Bluetooth. Wifi hotspot works well.
So I think you are right. Get up guys and try it! Which phone works and which not?
iPhone doesn't. Over Bluetooth.
i guess the more pertinent question might be.. What are you trying to do? It will only stay connected to another handset for as long as it needs to be... so unless you're actually trying to actively use a BT connection it won't be connected.
you need to setup/install a BT profile. Check for AirBlue for iPhone.

I can pair devices but that's as far as it goes.If I try to transfer files it just wont connect.
I dont get the question,, Transfer files of using the tablet for sound or something?
For file sharing :
No problem at all first I transferred a picture from phone to tablet and that succeeded then
from tablet to phone also no problem,
Samsung Galaxy SII
But to connect with bluetooth and then Calling or something with the Tab, that just doesn't makes sense.

Same here, couldn't transfer files between my Tablet and ArcS (in either direction). Not much of an issue for me, but it's a shame BT connectivity is broken on the tablet. Here's hoping ICS will fix it
I tried a few transfers and they all worked fine.. From and to xperia s.. But... I also have astro file manager, and it's Bluetooth module..might be worth trying that..

Have you tested AirDroid? I am in disbelief of what it can do. I think seeing is believing and suggest everyone have a look.

It's one of my must-have apps. Along with Unified Remote & TeamViewer. You might also want to check them out.
Tried it. It's a really cool idea, but ultimatively not useful to me. I realized that after I had it installed for a few days and, apart from the initial setup and testing, never reached for it.

Very nice app but it needs WiFi.
I'm usual to leave my Atrix in charge (via USB cable) during work but AirDroid needs always WiFi connection even if I'm already connected with cable.
I've used ADB.EXE (from Android SDK) to forward connection from PC-Host and Atrix-Android...in this way I can connect to AirDroid via "127.0.0.1ort" but if I shutdown WiFi the app closes all inbound connection EVEN localhost via USB cable!!! So I must leave WiFi connected all the day to use AirDroid.
Bad thing....
This is a network app, and it works exactly as intended. No point in complaining about something the app was never intended to do.

Well, if it didn't need WiFi, it wouldn't be called AirDroid now, would it? CableDroid, perhaps? Or maybe TetherDroid?

LOL
Even our Atrix was released with Froyo and after this with Gingerbread, but most of ppl wants to have ICS on a custom ROM.
So your argument is superfluous: most of ppl uses something in a way it wasn't intended to one similar use.

If you can make something work in a way it was not intended to work, that's cool, good for you. But don't expect it and don't complain if it doesn't happen. That is all.
Hi, I've looked at the other threads but I can't find any definite answers among them (either lacking or requiring additional equipment).
Anyway, my first question is how do I share my laptop's wifi connection (connected to my school's wifi, but they limit access to 1 MAC ID per student) to my S2, through USB? Like, is there an app/program/setting I can just use upon hooking up my S2 to my laptop and it can share its Internet connection to my phone?
Second question is how to work it the other way around, like if I have the wifi connection restricted to my S2 only, and share its internet connection to my laptop (and if it's possible wirelessly, to my iPod touch as well).
Thank you for any help. Cheers :good:
I am using 4.0.3 ICS on my I9100 S2, standard Win7 laptop.
Don't think you can via USB, phone doesn't have those capabilities. I guess you'd have to do it via WiFi. I imagine you'd setup some kind of 'server'/whatever software on the laptop similar to how you setup an SSH tunnel/relay (which involves your phone connecting to a host machine remotely which uses a secure connection to use the internet rather than accessing it normally via your carrier).
There's probably threads on here which would have the info you're after, but don't use XDA search; do a Google search & append XDA to your search terms. Gets better results in my experience. Also a straight out Google search should yield the info you want (it's not going to be easy tho; expect to do a lot of reading/fiddling).
Re: using the phone as a WiFi hotspot for the laptop, again, many many threads on here/Google search about setting up same. Re: doing anything with the iPod touch, you should know you're in the wrong place for that.

I guess I'd do the latter one (Google -> +xda). Thanks. And I guess you misinterpreted what I said about the iPod, I meant if it's possible to connect to the phone's hotspot if it's connected to wifi (using an iPod, laptop, etc.), but thanks really.

I see. I think I'll decide on rooting my S2 then in a few weeks. I heard the JB update's around the corner and I might just wait for that.
Thanks guys, anyone who can add even more is free to do so
