Every non stock rom I have tried has failed to give me a data connection. I have reentered APN Settings many times, switched and copied RILS, tried all the roms with the HSPA+ patch/fix. Only this rom has worked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850831. But development has halted. Best I can figure is that Msh3abJB's updated APNS XML made a difference. Tried copying it onto other roms and it still did not work. Can anybody help me?
Have you tried changing your modem to see if that makes any difference? Also, when you add your APN settings, do they save?

Yes, I have changed modems and my APN Settings do save. I have even enabled HSDPA/HSUPA in Device settings/options.

I am using mike's miui rom... i am not able to save the apn settings as it requires other things like the mcc code which would have been automatically set in other roms... So can any data docomo user share the whole apn settings here
As in Roms main thread, it's mentioned that gsm data is buggy. So your operators Docomo's settings will not work till the Bug is fixed.. I had the same problem in CM9 versions..

I have messed with my stalk rom and needed tho fastboot my stock rom again to make the pone work properly. However after I fasbooted the stock hong kong taiwan rom (I am from hk), I lost capability for connect through 3G. And even when I flashed into other roms, the same thing happens. I am wondering if this is an experienced issue and how I can fix it

You need to set you Access Point Names
Is under Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks - > Access Point Names
You need to verify which ones your carrier uses.

Shouldn't the phone be able to choose the apn and 3g connection itself? I went to the access point settings and there is I can't see anything pre loaded there. And if adding an apn app is going to fix the problem, which one should I use? Me so noob that me cant stand

You can also use Google > Providername APN Android
That's my usual way on Custom Roms...

If you have correct apn info you can manually enter it thru settings. Just make sure to save apn after!(menu button I think) or you can try Tweakker apn app from playstore.

i've seen this somewhere else on the fourms, but i believe your problem is called "funny sim". there should be a fix somewhere else on the forums. Either that or i'm just a stupid noob. i hope its the former

Hi guys. I'm running latest CM9 nightly 20120722. For some reason I have no mobile signal at all - Wifi is working great however! I have called my network carrier and there are no problems on their end. I have wiped cache/dalvik, flashed numerous modems (currently on LPX), rebooted plenty of times, fixed permissions and even reset the device, all to no avail. If somebody could please help I would greatly appreciate it.

Have you checked your APN settings in Network to confirm that there is one installed? If you have just flashed CM9, there is no APN installed. You need to manually configure it for your network. Google the APN settings for your provider, or call your provider to get them.

Been on CM9 for sometime - this just happened randomly the other day. I flashed the latest nightly to see if that fixed it, but it didn't. I'll check out my APN settings now, but I'm sure they were ok before I flashed the nightly.

You do not have any connection at all? No phone, no text, no mobile internet? Or do the Phone and text work, but not mobile internet.
I've got no signal at all! So no calls, messages and mobile internet. Wifi is working as is the rest of the phone...

Have you tried flashing back to original firmware to see if the problem persists on that as well? To me it sounds like you lost the data inside your efs folder, containing the imei and stuff.

I thought that was maybe the problem also, but I still have my imei number in phone status. Will try to set it back to stock to see if that helps. Thanks

How did you know your sim card wasn't working? did you ask for a new one?

Im on etisalat and i have faced the same problem .. hust go into the APNs and then from the menu just select reset to default after that it will keep on searching untill : -Etisalat Internet
-Etisalat MMS is available.
Now you can mark the Etisalat Internet check box .... Enjoy !!
Calls work, SMS works, but no dice on browser unless using WiFi.
nothing listed under available networks other than Default setup which looks grey

I verified that mobile data is checked - tried turning airplane mode on and off, rebooted several times.
do you have a list of what the proper apn settings are?

I would suggest trying a factory reset. Just make sure that you save any data that you want to keep, like messages, contacts and stuff like that before you try to reset.
Also found this video that might help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNnJnjabXdU
