[Q] Unroot - HTC EVO 3D

My 3G has been terrible since I got the phone, so I finally took it in to the sprint repair shop. They said before they can look at it I need to unroot and take the latest sprint update.
If I go stock and take the official OTA update, will I be able to achieve S-OFF and root again?
How do I go about going completely back to stock?
Thanks!

If you are s-off, flash the ruu.exe. Everything will go back to stock (ROM, recovery, etc), but you will remain s-off. I think you have to lock the bootloader first, but you don't need to be s-on.

Hello,
I believe I can help you out with this. Are you s-off right now? If so, then all you have to do is download the latest ruu. It's easy. You can find it in the development section under stickies. If your s-on however you will need to run the ruu.exe on your pc which I believe you can find that file under the stickies. Now if your s-off, you can flash the ruu file by renaming it to PG86IMG in all caps and placing it on the root of your sdcard and booting into bootloader and flashing it from there. If you are going to turn s-off back to s-on you must do this immediately after you flash the ruu. Just go to fastboot on your computer with your phone in fastboot and type this command fastboot oem write securityflag 3. I believe that's the right command. Just make sure your hboot is stock and not modified or else you will brick your phone. And of course you can still achieve s-off and reroot after that. Ramjet wrote a very simple and easy guide that will help you step by step with the easiest way to get there. You can find his guide in the general discussion section. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Please hit the thanks button if helped you in Anyway. Goodluck.

Those are firmware .zip's that won't return everything to stock. I'd suggest that you download the 2.89.651.2 ICS RUU.exe from one of the links in this post and run it from Windows. Then you will be totally stock except for S-OFF and they shouldn't care about that. When you get the phone back you can just flash a custom recovery then root the stock ROM or flash a custom rooted ROM without having to worry about getting S-OFF again, unless they set it back to S-ON when it is serviced.

Do you have the link to the ruu that can be run through the phone? I keep getting error 155 unknown error.
EDIT: Nvm it worked, just had to manually rebooted to bootloader.

That error means you didn't lock the bootloader first. Use the fastboot command: fastboot oem lock. Then run the ruu.

Rezound stuck in hboot after relock

I wanted to return my rezound to stock after running ics and roms for several months now.
I relocked the phone without issue and read in many forums, once this is done, to use the factory RUU from February to return to stock.
However once relocked and back in hboot, I could only go between the bootloader and fastboot.
I have run the RUU while in fastboot usb and it recognized the phone, however I ran into the Main Ver problem.
I have further read that this is fixable via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467099
But to do that I need the phone to boot into Android and I cannot figure out how to do that or any other way around these problems.
I am grateful for any help.

I suggest fixing the MainVer problem by flashing this: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/30190874/Se... (1).zip rename to ph98img
I got it from Scottsroms website.
However, if you are S-on and have flashed an ICS RUU, then you can't go back to GB unless you S-off.

Alright, I had trouble with the dropbox link. I kept running into an error.
I am fine with it saying relocked. If I have a Gingerbread RUU and reset the MainVer and am on ICS firmware I cannot flash a Gingerbread RUU?
Can I rename the file ph98img.zip and flash it that way?
Edit - I reunlocked the phone. I have setmainverlow.zip. I have been reading on scottsroms that after running this and re-relocking int, I should be able to run the Gingerbread RUU.
Edit- That got me past the main ver problem. Now it says the hboot is to old. Is there something I can flash to revert to an older hboot?

Clarification For Going To Stock - Will Probably Help Some People

Alright guys, I've searched and searched and I think I have it all down, just want to lay out my steps and get verification.
I'm on T-Mo ICS, not from OTA, flashed myself
Root
S-Off
4-Ext
I'm sending my phone in and need to go back to stock. I think I would prefer to go back to GB so it's just like from factory with no OTA.
- Download the Stock GB RUU from here - HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G Stock ROMs
- The RUU I want is - PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC _30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed
- Following These Directions I connect via ADB and fastboot oem lock This will show it as Re-Locked, correct?
- Reboot
- Flash the stock RUU I got by placing it in the root of my external sd card and renaming it PH85IMG.zip and rebooting to bootloader. Which is Volume Down + Power? Can someone verify that?
- Then I set the security lock by doing "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" - This will change the bootloader to show locked, not re-locked, correct? I thought you had to have root to ADB?
At that point I'm back as if I took the phone out of the box for the first time? 4ext will be replaced with Stock Recovery? Thanks in advance. Like I said, I've searched, but there are many conflicting reports. :good:

In order to flash the factory RUU you need to be either locked or relocked. Then when you flash the factory RUU it should overwrite your hboot which will reset from "relocked" to "locked" then the writesecureflasg function will turn S-ON and you'll be factory.

But everything looks OK then?
Update - Downloaded and renamed the RUU, rebooted into recovery and installed everything. Bootloader shows locked and I went ahead and did the ICS Update. Everything is back to factory and I'm ready to send it back.

Rick. Like you, I want to bring my T-Mobile HTC Amaze back to stock so that I can upgrade to ICS. The phone was bought on eBay with GB and a custom rom. I'd like to follow your steps but it had a lot of question marks and/or needed confirmation. Will you post exactly what you did?
Your steps seems a lot easier than what I've been researching. Is it really that simple? It makes sense. Everyone else uses hasoon2000 toolkit. Thanks for your time!

You don't need to go back to stock you just need to download the factory ics ruu or a rom that stock like. The hasoon toolkit is more of a guide to help you with the process try to read it an maybe you can rom your cell with a better one!

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense, too. Plus, it'll save me a step. I'm new to Android and got a lot to learn. With the help of xda-developers, I've learned a lot these past three weeks.
From what I've been reading, it's apparent that I need to have S-off before I do any flashing. Like I mentioned, I bought the phone with a custom rom. I'm guessing if it has a custom rom, then it was S-off at one time. If so, I should be able to S-off easily. Since I didn't flash the phone, I'm not sure what program is installed. Your knowledge and experience will be greatly appreciated if you can tell me if I'm able to S-off easily and how. Whenever I go into HBOOT I see the following:
***UNLOCKED***
RUBY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.90.0008
eMMC-boot
FASTBOOT
<vol up> to previous item
<vol Down> to next item
<Power>

How to flash radio with S-ON HBOOT 1.15

I successfully installed Fresh Evo LTE 5.3.1 on my phone.
One of the suggestions is to update the Radio but I'm having a tough time doing that.
Here are my specs:
HBOOT 1.15.0000
S-ON
FreshEVO 5.3.1 ROM
I went to the link from the FreshEVO LTE 5.3.1 page to update the radio and have tried the following to install the Radio:
Attempt 1
Downloaded the Full Firmware zip file
Rename it "PJ75IMG"
Place it in the root of my SD card
Reboot into Bootloader
The PJ75IMG.zip file is detect but I only get 'Parsing PJ75IMG.zip' and then the Fastboot, Recovery, etc. options are displayed.
Attempt 2
From the same page where I downloaded the Full Firmware zip file, I also tried:
Download the Boot.img Only (signed) file
Flash it through the command prompt while in Fastboot ("fastboot flash boot boot.img")
Go into Bootloader
The PJ75IMG.zip is detected but still get the "Parsing..." message and nothing else happens.
Attempt 3
I have also tried going into my TWRP recovery and installing the Full Firmware zip AND the Radio 1.12.11.0809 Only.zip file but the installation fails.
Any pointers or a link to a video or a post would be much appreciated.
Thanks and sorry if this is a duplicate post but I really couldn't find any post that showed step-by-step process.
revert to stock and accept the ota, you can then fastboot recovery again and reflash. hboot 1.15 can not directly flash any firmware
edit: you may have to relock your hboot but ive seen users state they didnt. if you decide to relock the phone you will have to unlock the bootloader again to enable fastboot

DO NOT UNROOT TO ACCEPT THE OTA OR RUU
I'd highly suggest just staying with your current radios and waiting for S-OFF before trying to update the radios. You can still flash the new ROMS in the meantime
You cannot update radios or firmware with Hboot 1.15 or 1.19------->Thats why it is suggested and not required

sorry guys internet crapped out and i got stuck trying to post lol. rxpert has a point but with so much negativity about s-off never coming I'm starting to consider taking the OTA.
also you should always have a back up, its your go to solution when nothing else seems to be working since its a back up of when everything was new and working be it stock or custom

Just so I am clear, I too am 1.5 so if have my orginal rom, (the one after I unlocked my bootloader) i can restore it and accept the OTA without having to relock my phone? (it wont brick):good: Or do i have some other steps to take, I read the don't panic instructions, but it only mentioned what the OTA does ( relocks with a new rom) but nothing about what happens if I don't relock before I accept the OTA, I know i seem a bit slow, 4g lte isn't as interesting as OG 4g without S-off.

I havent yet done it myself but users have said they didnt need to relock, how ever as captain said there is no real need to update right now. If you decide to go ahead it would be a good idea to relock ( fastboot oem lock ) just to make sure, you can unlock afterwards. I neglect to mention this in my guide because most phones now are on 1.19 anyway and those still on 1.15 are holding out for soff
You will want to have the stock recovery to take the ota. Most people do this by relocking and running the ruu

I am still researching how to relock without issues. I have my orginal rom but still leary about the entire relocking process. I was hoping i could restore to orginal sense rom, then take the OTA. otherwise I am looking for the simplest way to accompish the relocking task, but frankly nothing is easy when i comes to playing around with 4g lte, except it is rather difficult to brick. With my luck i might succeed in that LMAO

[Q] S-OFF and installing stock RUU

I searched for this and could not find an easy way to get an answer.
So I recently achieved S-OFF. In doing so I reverted back to an ICS RUU(3.14.605.12) after relocking the phone. After I got the phone back up and running I then set things up to run the program needed for S-OFF. Got S-OFF. Then unlocked the phone and flashed a rom I wanted.
I am thinking I would like to install the latest RUU(4.03.605.2) to get the radios and everything up to date.
Main question. Would installing the newer RUU affect the S-OFF status at all? I would hope no, but I don't know.
Second question. Do I need to go through the process of relocking the phone?

The newest RUU will not effect your s-off. It will relock the bootloader, however. The only thing that this changes is the fact that you won't be able to issue fastboot commands. You can unlock with Vinylfreak's method or through htc dev again, but I find either of these to be unnecessary with s-off. You will not need to re-lock with s-off to run the ruu. Just place it on your sd card, flash in hboot, and you're good to go. Make sure after you flash the RUU to find a zip of Amon-Ra 3.15 that you can flash via hboot. Good luck!
Just to be clear. You WILL retain s-off after flashing RUU.

You're welcome. The AR 3.15 that you flashed through fastboot when you were setting up your phone doesn't work in hboot (just so you're aware). I don't want to be a broken record, I just want to make sure that you have everything you need. In this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615969 there is an hboot flashable of AR 3.15 in the op. It may also be useful if you have any problems after s-off.
After you achieve s-off you don't need to unlock again, even though the boot loader says that it's locked you still have access to everything. Once you are S-off you no longer need to relock to flash RUUs. From what I've seen it's not recommended to unlock via htcdev if you are s-off, I'm not sure of the reason though. To regain access to fast boot commands all you have to do is flash an unlocked/modified hboot. There is a thread in the dev section called "hex edited hboots" just download the ph from there and flash it via hboot.

The reason it's not recommended is because if you do, you'll get the relocked message if you lock again. If you don't unlock again, you'll have "locked" just like stock.

[Q] Complete Stock Help

Alright people, I need help. I have an HTC Rezound (obviously) for verizon. I want to go back to Complete Stock, (as if it were brand new).
It was unlocked using HTC devs method
Its rooted
It is s-on
The recovery file i used is : recovery-ra-vigor-3.16-gnm
I installed a custom rom: Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v6.3
Android version 4.03.605.2
HTC Sense 3.6
How do i get my phone to be:
Completely stock
Stock rom
no root
Locked title in Hboot
fix the tampered title in hboot
Any help is much apreciated
Are you doing this to warranty it? It will say "relocked" when you are done. It hasn't been a problem for anyone in the past though, you should still be able to return it to Verizon.
Instructions on how to return to stock are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38244272&postcount=10
You probably should use the latest official RUU (prior to the OTA they just rolled out a couple days ago) which is 3.14.605.12. The link I have is to an .exe file. You just connect your phone to your pc and then double click. It will take you through the steps.
Get it here:
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=Vigor
That will get you back to stock, unrooted and it will say "relocked".
There was a global leak that wasn't official. If you want to use that, get it here:

This is a zip file you put on your external sd card. Follow instructions in the first link I gave you.
THANK YOU

I was Tampered/Locked and s-off. I ran the 4.03.605.2 RUU twice then its said locked the tampered was removed. I used the mini-adb_vigor program to achieve S-ON. Open a Command prompt wtih admin privileges and enter these commands pressing enter after each one. Now I am completely back to Locked S-ON. Hope this helps.
cd c:\mini-adb_vigor
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
fastboot reboot-bootloader
*verify you are locked s-on
fastboot reboot

Make sure to run this on a stock hboot or it will brick.
I am having a similar issue. I am rooted, I never relocked my bootloader, stock minus a few mods, but the ota update keeps failing. What do I need to do to be able to accept the update so it stops rebooting my phone?
