Jelly Bean roms - HTC Rezound

I appreciate all the hard work done by the developers and shared with everyone, so believe me I'm not complaining just trying to learn. Why are there no Jelly Bean roms out? I assume it's a technical reason.

Sorry I mean to post this under questions.

The devs typically wait to release new stuff to the public until it's stable enough for daily use. Maybe not completely functional, but almost there. Jellybean isn't quite there yet. Patience

Aosp has not even been completely been worked out for ics man were is lollipop rom at. Check out the aosp topic they are working on it.

In order to get Jelly Bean I believe AOSP for ICS has to be fully worked out. ICS is almost there. There's just a number of bugs that have to be fixed.
On a side note I'm really interested in seeing what Project Butter is like. Because Neo's AOSP ROM is smooth as hell by itself already.

CM9 is stable.I think it might have to do with kernel.

Yes, by either porting it from devices similar to ours or from AOSP.

jb with sense 4.5 is already ported
cm10 not yet but they working on it ofc
EDIT
sense 4.5 is not based on jb sorry....

Thanks for the replies. I figured there was one large sticking point, but it sounds like there is a lot more to it than that. Can't wait to try Newts latest.

For Sense JB I think we would need a JB kernel which we don't have so AOSP for now.

Jelly Bean does exist but without bluetooth calling
There are Custom Jelly Bean ROMs. The only problem I have, and it's a deal-breaker, is that bluetooth calling does not work in ANY of them. I like Mean Horsey Face, but NO bluetooth...

This is great news. Thanks to both you and heyis4horses for your responses and to neo for his effort.

I haven't had good luck with 4.2. I ran it for about 18 hours, and while the BT calling and signal bars were fixed, I had scores of other issues, including choppiness, lots of force closing under heavy load, dock issues, and GPS issues (even after the GPS fix). It's still pretty broken, so don't expect miracles out of it. I'm going to be doing ROM work on it, but I'm not going to be releasing any of it until the base is in better shape.

I agree with Tech9. The current selection of ICS roms are very very well done. I am currently running JoelZ redefined rom and its about as perfect as you can get for a DD from a leak. Ive used Nils Business ICS as well and hes also done a great job with this rom.

AOSP Rom for Google Now

Looking for an AOSP rom I can use as a daily driver. Just saw that Google Now has been ported over for anyone running an AOSP ICS rom and I'd like to try it out. The roms I have seen for the Rezound all seem to have issues with data not working, etc. Are there any out there that are stable without major issues?
If not, I guess I will just have to be content waiting for a Sense based JB rom to come out. Something tells me I won't have to wait terribly long.
If you are having data issues then there is something going wrong when you flash. Are you s-on unlocked?
We do not have AOSP, yet. We are waiting for source to be released.
Whisper ROM coming soon.

I have a feeling we'll have a AOSP by mid August or so.
There is a really good chance that at some point we'll see an official OTA to JB after ICS finally drops. The Rezound is less than 6 months old, still one of the high end phones in Verizon's lineup (for now) and it's just an incremental update. It's not like the jump from GB to ICS.

I know everyone is mad about the official ota taking forever but he might be right. The rezound is very capable of running jelly bean and this phone and the incredible 4g are the only high end htc phones on Verizon. The OG Incredible is still getting small updates for God sake. No need for ASOP for Google Now, just ICS. I have it running perfectly fine on CleanROM DE, minus the same no voice search issue everyone else is having. If you are running into no data problems, then you are running an older version of that port. The no data error was fixed

Custom Jelly Bean Roms For Rezound?

So I've been looking around and from what I can tell, the jelly bean situation for the rezound is looking pretty bleak considering the fact that it hasn't even received ics yet. That doesn't phase me though because I figured I could just install a custom rom and get it now; however, it seems thats not the case because for some reason no one seems confident that a custom jelly bean rom for the rezound is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there already custom jb roms for other phones? So I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me why a custom jb rom for the rezound is not possible? And if it is why hasn't anyone made one?
If you were to search a little more I believe the answer would become more clear to you

We're in a position to get AOSP, not /about/ to get AOSP. Just because there's a working RIL doesn't mean the kernel or the rom is ready to go. Could be days, could be weeks before we see it. Don't get people's hopes up, you're less likely to be disappointed.

Soooo uhhh hmmm... When's the ETA on when we can start asking bout ETAs? Lol jk.. just yanking or chain. K.. my answer for OP: I can almost certainly promise u that by mid next 2013 we should see jelly bean for Rezound. Reason I say that is because as of recently the RIL (which is what allows the phone to receive 4G LTE) has finally been cracked/resolved. And the official OTA ICS is soon for us. Also ICS-Jelly Bean is not that huge of an update, it is most likely we will be receiving that as well.

cant be that broken.........its cm9 which has basically all the base code for msm8660 devices.....the kernel is the only thing that might not be ready due to being a 2.6.35 kernel and not 3.0 but 2.6.35 works fine for the most part

Are you serious? Stuck?
Considering that only 0.8% (not event one percent) of Android handsets globally have JB, Rezound owners will now be in the category second only to those with GB on their handsets. Enjoy ICS for now and you know very well that the amazing devs here will generate a JB ROM for the Rezound as soon as they have the "raw materials" to do so.

Yes i am very much serious that I'm stuck. Don't get me wrong, i like ics a lot, but I find it annoying that Google releases New versions of android and i don't get to use them until months later. I know it's not Googles fault, but it is frustrating nonetheless. That is why I'm waiting for the next nexus phone. Until then I'll rely on the awesome devs here at xda.

thanks, cause i thought CM10 was considered jellybean and i installed it but wasnt liking the rom at all went right back to mean rom needless to day much better
Praise Odin
Cm10 is jellybean, it is modified from aosp and Google makes any changes or updates to android and it goes into aosp, the ROM you have is based on stock, the advantage is everything unique to stock stays in tact but the downside is you have to wait for HTC to release the updates
thanks alot, sticking to mean rom 3.8 s-on
mean rom has always been pretty much stock.. just the way i like it!!!!!
When MeanROM goes JB, you'll love it. The only reason you could possibly not like JB now is the lack of Sense. You'll have both once we get that magical OTA.
However, CM10 is amazing. So I have no idea what you're talking about anyway, haha.

[Q] Putting Vanilla Android on DNA

Is this possible? I've unlocked, rooted, have recovery, all of that. Is it possible for me to simply flash a pure vanilla Jelly Bean onto my phone?
Short answer: no. Long answer: eventually we will start seeing AOSP ROMs but a lot of work must be done first. I'm not a dev so I can't really explain everything that needs to happen before it can be done but rest assured it's being handled by top men.

vanilla android and AOSP is one and the same, it's what Google makes and then the companies take and modify it but when you say stock android usually (almost always) means the original ROM that came with the device as new.
As an example for HTC we say a "Sense ROM", for Samsung a "Touchwiz ROM" which in reality are both launchers (of course it's not as simple as that because the things they do go a lot deeper) but if you want a more vanilla experience try nova (my personal favorite on my One X) or apex launcher and if I remember correct there's an app to remove the bloatware to make the device even faster and release some space on your storage (all the apps that companies put but noone uses) but try not to remove any neccesary system files, ALWAYS make a backup first and if you're not sure then don't mess with it. Haven't gotten a DNA but really thinking about it.
edit: here's the mod I was talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012388
I hope I helped

From what I've heard there are a few developers working on getting the RIL ready for AOSP ROMs, but I'm not sure how far they've gotten (I've heard rumors of them being close). After the RIL there's the camera/camcorder to work on before AOSP ROMs can be bugtested the released. So, as of now, this is not possible, but it should be here in the next few (read: we don't know when) months.
Once we get the RIL, there shouldn't be anything stopping them since we already have a kernel source.

Because it has to be made for this device specifically, there is no factory fresh stock jb built for this device. You could probably get one too boot without too much hassle, but it would be buggy as all get out and have no connectivity whatsoever.

Just so you guys know, s-off is not related to AOSP. People made this assumption with the rezound as well, but it took months to get AOSP on that, even after we had S-off. It is mostly the RIL which has to be made mostly(if not totally) from scratch.
