SG3 x Clarion NX602 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi!
I am trying to connect my SG3 to my Clarion NX602 through USB port, as I used to do with my old iPhones... I just got a message "no driver found".
At the bluetooth menu I also can't connect it as multimedia (audio bluetooth).
Does anybody knows if there is a incompatibility or is just a cable/config issue?
I am running on Omega V26.1 JB soft version.

You might need to try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
To set it to USB Mass Storage mode before connecting it. Make sure any music is on the SD card not the phone
Failing that, try a USB OTG cable and and then a USB-to-USB cable or something.
No idea about bluetooth, though, maybe try some apps?

[Q] help with USB on head unit in car.

so i got a pioneer 5200 head unit today. it has a usb slot in the front, you can connect things to it and its suposta read them .. such as a ipod/iphone or any other phone with a sd card I WAS TOLD.
but i cant see to get it to work with my vibrant :-/ i know i had to put it in to debug mode to get it to work with my mac.. so i was not sure if i was missing something that i should of done.
any help? thanks.
Mount after plugging in?

you would need to mount the drives on the phoen as samuel said... but there could be another issue... When you mount two drives will showup (internal and SD), can the head unit process two drives?
Not ALL radios have the ability to read every phone. I have a new JVC KW-NX7000 Navi and it would not read crap from my Cliq, but would from my G1. Haven't tried it yet with the Vibrant. Try taking it out of debugging and see if that works.
Another thing to consider is that the head units often have size limitations for the partitions they can read.
It also might be getting confused with the internal storage and the sd card since I doubt it can read more than one drive at a time.
Same problem with the stock radio on my 09 civic si. I believe it to be because of the way the phone provides access to the storage cards (USB hub)

good call, i didnt think of the two drive thing.
checking there site it says
"Not every USB device is compatible with a Pioneer headunit containing an USB port. See more details at the following webpage: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/USBCompatibility. Pioneer headunits containing a USB port are compatible with USB MSC (Mass Storage Class) devices only, and are not compatible with DRM (Digital Rights Management) contents and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) connection devices. For size and other limitations, please see Owner’s Manual. Unauthorized copying of music or other files is strictly prohibited. Optional USB extension cable is available for use with front USB ports."
how ever when going to the site they say its basically a blank page ha. ill try to take it out of debugging mode.. and if that does not work ill pop out the sd card.
i tried, taking out one of the sd cards, turning off debugging mode, changing it so i have to select if i want mass storage, or media mode.
and still i get nothing sad but oh well.. still got the aux port ha
I wish I had an aux port, fm transmitters suck ballz! I have to remove my antenna to not get static and even then, sometimes I do.

And the magic question is... CAN WE PUT OUR DEVICE IN USB MSC MODE? (Mass Storage Class)
I think it's one thing we really need. Almost every device is compatible with it, not with MTP!
You have to enable mass storage device and then mount it once you've plugged it into your receiver. Theres an app called Auto-mount that will do out for you automatically. It will only transfer music stored on your sd you will have to use the headphone jack for Pandora and Slacker.

I have the same problem with my Vibrant. I have an Alpine IXA-W404. When I plug in my phone via usb, it shows "searching" then "not supported" but on my head units screen it starts to show some random music files on my phone, but won't play them. I tried plugging in using two different wires, and tried with debugging on and off.
Any help? I even saw a video where the guy was doing it online with a similar setup, using a Droid and some other similar Alpine deck.
when i select "media player" from the usb settings on the phone, after about 20 seconds, the head unit starts to play a few songs but its very choppy. Any help is appreciated!

Compatibility with Alpine iDA-X305

Hi,
Has anyone tried the SGS3 with an Alpine iDA-X305 car head unit. It supposedly supports MTP but I can't get mine to recognise my s3.
Thanks

I've tried with my Alpine iDA-X100, which is also meant to support mtp according to the manual, but it's not recognised.
Have tried a workaround to mount external sd card as mass storage (see post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27282116#post27282116) so it sees it as a usb drive, but no luck with that either unfortunately. I think the problem could be with the S3, as the iDA-X100 works ok with ext. sd card in my friend's HTC Desire connected in mass storage mode.
You don't want to use Bluetooth? I find playing the media from the phone far more flexible.

[Q] Car Stereo Integration?

My car stereo supports USB thumb drives and iPods. My understanding is that this would work with UMS mode on Android (I think). But with ICS, UMS is gone and replaced by MTP and PTP. Is it possible to still connect an ICS android phone to a car stereo via USB?
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 and have tried using the "SGS3 Easy UMS" app to connect my phone with no luck. Is this on the right track? Has anyone else gotten this to work?
I've just switched over from an iPhone which worked great in the car for streaming music via USB and would like to do the same with my SGS3, but right now I can't seem to find a solution so I'm leaning towards returning it and going for the iPhone 5.
Anyone have any luck connecting an ICS android device to a car stereo via USB?
TIA!

Why don't you buy a 3.5 mm cable and connect it?

Unfortunately, this model stereo (Bose) does not have a 3.5mm input, it only has the USB input. The manual states that the USB input supports "various USB memory sticks, USB hard drives, and iPod players". I have been using it without issue with my iPhone 4 (both as a "USB drive" and to play streaming music via spotify and other streaming players). With the Android phone, with MTP, it doesn't look like a USB drive and therefore won't actually connect (I get a "check device" message).
Seems strange to me that with ICS, the OS is no longer compatible with any of these USB-enabled car stereos (and there seem to be only a handful of MTP-compatible head units out there). Since it apparently worked pre-ICS (I can't verify if that would work on my specific car stereo since my phone is ICS), it would seem that they could have at least had an option to enable UMS mode.
Still hoping for a solution...

I know how you feal i have a AVH-P3300T and it works GREAT with pandora and iPhone...(even an iPhone 2G) pandora detected the stereo as an accessory right away... but for what ever reason when i plug my HTC Sensation in it jsut reads it it as a disk drive..
there has to be some active driver letting the head unit and the device talk... If there was a way to capture that level of logging going on im sure there some people here that could reverse engineer this... and just make it so that its a service runnign in the back ground...
Either that... or soemoen figure out how to REPROGRAM a head unit from its stock image to an android image lol...

PCI usb card and galaxy 2 usb connection

Is anyone else using a pci usb card and trying to connect your phone to it? It keeps connecting/disconnecting no matter if I choose MTP, camera, or mass storage. Works fine with my laptop or my other computer with working usb ports. I just want to make sure it's my damn computer what's causing this problem.
Note: I tried different cables.

[Q] Any way to force USB storage mode?

Just has a friend call me because he crushed the screen on his Razr. Problem is, he said his pics/vids were stored to the phone and not the sd card. Is there anyway/program I could use to force USB storage mode to retrieve his data? I've always had HTC devices so I'm not familiar with tools available for Motorola, just trying to help a friend. Any input would be appreciated.
If you have an HDMI cable, you can connect the HDMI cable to the RAZR and a TV. It defaults to mirroring the display through HDMI. You can then use that to switch it manually to USB storage mode by connecting it to your computer.
